WT all day!!
You sold me with the black licorice and Good n Plenty comment. If I can find that Wild Turkey I'll pick one up. Thanks
Imagine having to go through all these things just to get a bottle. lol wow.
WT is my go to so if I was seeing these two bottles on the shelf I’d go WT. I really only have one bottle of BT I want and that’s a Stagg. I do enjoy Eagle rare but I’m not a cork collector or do I buy because of what the bottle looks like. BT is just over hyped yes it’s good but not spectacular whiskey. Enjoy🥃🥃🥃
I bought 1 bottle of Blanton's, never wanted another. I currently own 7 bottles of Kentucky Spirit. Camp Nelson and Tyrone single barrels have been quite good this year!
Wild turkey 💯 percent.
I definitely want to find another Blanton’s to see if another single barrel could be better…but yes WT won this one!
Great list! Absolutely need to try that Old Fitz someday. Thanks for the video 👍
mine is Mixer - WT 101 Daily - RR10 (would be stagg jr, but cost/availability make it the RR10, honorable mention would be eagle rare in this category) Friday - Stagg JR (i reach for this more than just about anything on my shelf) impress - Willett Purple top 10yr (traded for it, got it essentially for 200 bucks, hard to find, and even my bourbon friends rarely have had a chance to have it) Special occasion - RR13/15 (i know that's two, i cant decide lol)
Great list! Happy Thanksgiving 🥃
I think those are great. The 101 was my first choice. I went to the store today and they were sold out. Go figure.
Old Forester 100/1792 Small Batch Peerless Single Barrel Rye/Barrel Private Release Picks Elijah Craig Barrel Proof C922/C923 EH Taylor Single Barrel/Penelope Rio Jack Daniels 12/Jack Daniels Coy Hill/EH Taylor Barrel Proof
I would love to try some Coy Hill myself. Great list and happy Thanksgiving 🥃
Can’t anyone b original these days and stop copying everyone else’s content! Pathetic
It’s a challenge that’s gone around UA-cam multiple times. I’m not copying just participating in the fun. Thanks for watching though and cheers 🥃
WT 101 is a steady go to IMO. At $40 for 1.75L it’s a no brainer. Friday pours are OF or JD barrel proofs. Preferably the Ryes Impressing the guests is easy since most are not whiskey fans but JJ Bowman is great as well as Bardstown BiB. 1792 series is a great pour that won’t break the bank either. Special occasions is Bowman 12 yr French oak or OF SiB 100 proof. Great videos and keep on with these.
Great list. Thanks for watching! Happy Thanksgiving 🥃
I'm comparing a Blanton's store pick (definitely much better than others I have tried) to a regular JJB single barrel. The B has great sweetness and smoothness and an endless finish, but the JJB has a much better nose and palate, but quite spicy. Overall, JJB wins slightly for me, because I can tolerate the spiciness. A good Blantons, though, is very enjoyable and worth $70.
I always have four roses yellow label backed up. It's my daily drinker. I'm in the UK and the selection of bourbon here isn't great and it does tend to be a lot more expensive here for bourbons. The four roses is so cheap it's always worth having it on the shelf. It's tasty and soft and very cheap so I don't feel bad if I get through a whole bottle in a couple of weeks.
You mentioned that you went on the third day, Sunday one year. Were all the vendors still there or were things winding down? Curious if it’s worth staying in town for the third day? Thanks and I enjoy your channel.
Most of the vendors are still there! We still had a blast that first year only going on Sunday. Honestly it might be a good day to go with slightly less crowds. But in my opinion if you spend both Friday and Saturday at the festival Sunday is more of an optional day. Thanks for watching and cheers!
Going to pop the cork on a Bookers 24-01 on Thanksgiving day 👍 😉 Cheers 🥃
How much better is RR15 than RR13
There are some great videos about the Pilgrims from 1620 to 1621. They originally had 2 ships, but after a couple of false starts and the one ship starting to leak twice, it was abandoned and only the Mayflower was used. They arrived at the tip of Cape Cod late, in November and had a very rough winter with no time to grow crops. After 1 year roughly half died from starvation and the cold weather. Their 1 year anniversary celebration with a big meal in 1621 was bittersweet. Oak barrels were used for alcohol then, and whiskey keeps this tradition going.
Rare Breed has become my Thanksgiving bourbon. This year I've been fortunate to acquire a Wild Turkey 101 12 year from a friend who picked me up one while he was traveling in Japan a couple of months ago.
Regular WT101 isn't 8 years old. I don't think it's even the 7 years anymore that Jimmy Russell used to say it was. It's gotten younger tasting in recent years.
It's a blend of 6-8 year old bourbon
@Rustomatic19 that's different than just saying it's 8 years old.
@@xiamengbaby lol oh.
@@Rustomatic19 I mean, that's what he said on the video. If that we're true, then you'd sure be a sucker to pay 50 bucks for that new WT anniversary 8 year old edition. 😆
WT 101 just isn't what it was a few years ago, still good just a little thin tasting to me anyway 🤔
Nice list; got to have the WT products on Thanksgiving! Cheers!
Very nice video, I found it informative, but I also really have to say it is very pleasing to see Wild Turkey make a Thanksgiving Bourbon list lol
Thanks for watching. Happy Thanksgiving and cheers!
if its not too late, try to find a Maker's Mark 'lost recipe series', Costco's had them for the most part, some people find them at Total Wine. its a great one from Makers'
I think we really enable the bourbon robber barons by spending 2 - 5 times what the stuff is worth. Our prize is we get ripped off worse each year. There are many $20 - $30 bottles out there that are good. So, is a $250 bottle really 7-8 times better?
I have only had the RR15 of this list. And absolutely it’s 7-8x better. Really even more than that. I have 50+ bottles and nothing has beat it in a blind yet. It’s surprising how much better it is than even some of my 60-80 dollar bottles. I do love Stagg Jr and will say I need to blind it against RR15, getting that at the 65 msrp is probably a better value. But not necessarily a better bourbon
Great list. We are doing a blind tasting with the family with RR 15, Michters 10yr bourbon, Stagg B18, Found North Kelvin collaboration 6, Four Gate 19 yr whiskey and a 1993 WT 101 Dusty. I'm hoping we can stumble to the dinner table afterwards. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
lol wheres my invite. cheers
Heck of a lineup! Hope everyone stays safe. Happy Thanksgiving and cheers!
Great list. I'd do an honorable mention for WT Rare Breed if you feel WT 101 is too cheap/"didn't try hard enough".
I brought Rare Breed to Thanksgiving dinner last year! Just wanted to highlight a true budget option. Happy Thanksgiving and cheers!
I got two bottles of RR15 too. Best purchases of the year. Happily paid $380 for each and I think they are well worth it for what I believe is the best whiskey I’ve ever tasted.
great video. I agree with you on these. thanks for sharing. keep it up. cheers
I was lucky and hit the distillery at the right time. I picked up a 10 yr bourbon (barrel 23F2031) and man is it one of my favorite bottles! Can’t wait to try the rye!
Bought a 2022 ten year rye, lot of flavor but had an unfortunate dilly note. Back in 2022 MSRP was only $135. Had an opportunity to get a 2023 Michters 10 year rye for 175 and passed on it.
M10 Rye is world class (at retail). Don’t get too hung up on proof.
I have a 24 D batch as well that I have not yet opened. Very excited to open it and enjoy in the very near future. Great review!
Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine! Cheers!
I have overlooked Michters entirely because of proof and the fact that Jack Daniel's sbbp rye is only $64.99 in ohio with no limit on bottles. My question would be, how does it stack up against JD inquiring minds want to know. Cheers 🍻
Definitely can't wait to get my hands on one! I've tasted the 2023 at a bar, and it was so good! Guess I can't go wrong with either.
2023 was amazing! Hope you find a 2024!!
Bowman is Mash Bill #1. Blanton's is Mash Bill #2. So, a better comparison is EH Taylor Small Batch. Same juice. Same proof. About 5% of Blanton's are exceptional and about 5% are just bad. The others are just more in the middle.
sometimes the thrill of the hunt can be part of the fun so i'd say that factors into effort. i'd honestly probably be most interested in trying the four roses.
The most I ever spent was $215 for a 2020 Batch 15 Stagg Jr. Delicious pour, simply had to have it. Have never spent over $200 on any other bottle. The only current bottle that I would break my budget for is the RR 15 but I haven't seen it for less than $350 and that is simply a bridge too far. Really enjoyed the video, keep up the great content!
As a scotch enthusiast, I’m accustomed to paying $200-$300 or more for a good bottle, so when I look at the cost of high-quality bourbon, the math really makes sense. A $300 bottle breaks down to about $20 per 1.5 oz pour-a price far below what you’d pay at a bar or restaurant for the same experience. Viewed this way, it’s not just reasonable; it’s a great value for something you can enjoy at your leisure. FWIW, the bourbons I’ve found that truly match the complexity I appreciate in scotch are Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye, Michter’s Rye, and Old Forester Single Barrel Rye. For me, these bottles deliver an experience that justifies the investment. For my efforts in finding bottles? I place an order at my local establishments (Spirited Spin in Melbourne). I just ask them and the owner texts me when they arrive. Did this for the recent Michters 10 and Michters 10 Rye and it worked great. Why does he text me? Because I thought the JD and Forester and Michters were good…I purchased 4 cases of each. Seems like you would have had a better time if you purchased a vip ticket at the bourbon fest vs standing in line. Thoughts? Here is another thing I don’t understand…if you blinded/ranked all the bottles in your background…why keep the purchasing mistakes and garbage on your shelves? Give away the “lessor” bottles. I don’t want to be reminded of my failures…just my successes Surround yourself with happiness.
Yes
I would buy and rebuy all of them besides MK Voyage. I honestly hated the Voyage.
Barrel single barrel at 130, is great but not worth the price
M10 rye pass all day at retail 4roses at retail +100 yes Old Fitz retail +100 yes RR15 retail + 100 yes Masters keep pass even at discount
I'm happy for you. Being close to Louisville is fortunate. I'm not sure I would go through lines to get anything. My collection is vast but I didn't wait in line for any bottle I have. Haven't paid more than 20% over msrp for any of my hard to find bottles. That said, I'm still looking for the heavies. But I'm very patient. I will run across them at some point.
I got the michters 10 rye for 250 and it’s worth it. I would like another.
Ive acquired 2 bottles of RR15 at MSRP and I couldn’t be happier. One to enjoy with friends and one to “vault”. Have heard ‘24 4R LE is lackluster and only a buy for 4R fans. All Michter’s LE’s I’ve had are great and an auto-buy at, or close, to MSRP
Only reason I’m watching this is is I’m a fan. Not that I’ll ever see any of them and honestly wouldn’t get them because of cost. I have a cap and I’m pretty sure everyone is way over what I’m willing to pay for alcohol. But I’m all about letting you do you. If you’re willing to pay these prices then go for it but just not worth my time or money. Again just me. Enjoy🥃🥃🥃
Same! Every time I try a bottle that’s +100, I’m always a little let down. Tons of good bottles in the 50-80 range that slap hard
O-H!
Pass on the M10R and Masters Keep. Buy the 4R, OF13 and RR15.
Wow! Impressive! Russells 13 at 240 beans is my big.
There are two very big differences for me: I drink far more Scotch than bourbon and availability/pricing is very different either side of the Atlantic. However, I can say that I have several bottles that cost more each than all of your 5 put together...
What does this mean?
…aaaaannnd? I mean, I could buy a Ferrari…
Post a video of them
@@JohnDoe-pm4bg Unfortunately, I have neither the equipment nor the charisma for a video, but I can list them: Ledaig 42 year old Dùsgadh Highland Park - The Dragon 1961 A.H. Hirsch Reserve 1974 16 year old Ladyburn 1974 40 year old Benromach 1974 Cask #1583 41 year old will that do?
Was lucky to get three of the five you have but it took a lot of effort and luck.
