  • Just suggesting that you "overpay" for a whiskey will raise some eyebrows. But with each of these 5 bottles, for one reason or another, I think it's worth considering spending a little extra. Let's break down the list of 5 whiskeys I think are worth "overpaying" for!

Great video! Still looking for a reasonably priced Stagg by me (LI-NY) as it finally dropped to $199 at most stores... getting closer! The ECBP C923 is near impossible to find. Finally located a shelf full at a local store, but they want $128! Now you have me reconsidering... LOL! Generally, love the ECBPs! Really like to JJB SB (haven't tried a pick yet). Recently bought the 2024 Michter's BS Rye (not the 10-year) at $129 and absolutely love that bottle and picked up a back-up! Both of the 10-year offerings start at $299 by me. Started getting into Redwood Empire... love the Pipe Dream CS.

Grear video! The better term I like to use instead of "overpriced" would be "market price" but obviously that wouldn't be compelling enough for a UA-cam video and title 😆.
Only bottle on your list I wouldn't overpay for is the Redwood Empire Rocket Top. Already expensive for a 5 year BiB.
    Thanks for the video!

It’s funny you mention ECBP c923. I spent $108 to get it a week or so ago.
A small mom n pop store found it behind A124 so I scooped it up. A bottle I would slightly over pay for is 4 Roses single barrel select. I haven’t seen one in my area since the pandemic.

I like, respect, and appreciate your list even though I don't agree with anything but Stagg. I would possibly go to $110 or $120 for it but not above retail for the others. I could not find ECBP C923 at any price, anywhere, and I have totally dropped any desire for any of them at any price. I can't buy any of them (including the much more mediocre bottles like B523, A124, or 8 year store picks, etc.) for anything less than $90+. I am done with them for good. I also had first crack at three bottles of the Michter's 10 Year Rye last month for $230. It wasn't even tempting. Just no reason for me to lose my mind for any Michter's anywhere close to that. Thanks for the video!

After pouring juice for over 50yrs I miss the QUALITY that was produced 35-45 years ago. It just isn't the same, All Brands Too .👍😉🥃

I'll never tell someone what to pay for something they want regardless of what that hobby is. But I personally have a cap on all my hobbies I shoot in competitions and that is very expensive but I don't go high end it is just crazy what top-end equipment goes for and whiskey is no different. I have a cap on what I'm willing to pay regardless of what the bottle is just me but it's alcohol not some magical juice that will make you better. If I can't walk in a store and get it at a reasonable price I don't need it.

With the rising prices of Bourbon the factors I weigh now is rarity, price vs what I’ve accumulated so far. I’ve overbought a lot so now I have to really think about the Bourbon. Is it interesting in terms of mashbill and aging.

Maybe if everyone stopped buying secondary and over paying msrp, the prices would be where they're supposed to be

Got a sample of ECBP C923 and wasn’t for me so glad I never found a bottle tbh. Need to try the BIB redwood empires at some point. Love everything I have had from them. Cheers 🥃

I’m sorry but you can get sagamore ryes that are awesome for so much less than Michters. I have the 8 year old at like 113 proof and it’s killer and it was $70. Michters special releases are ridiculously overpriced

I don't like spending insane money for a bottle. But if its something really wanted and the price is still in a comfortable range for me compared to how much I want it, I'll buy it. A bottle is only worth what I'm willing to pay for it to me.

At last count I've got around 250 bottles, I've come to a place where unless it's something I must have, I'm not going over $130.
Just picked up Booker's 24-2 at $107 tax included.
    Cheers 🍻

Stagg 23B is pretty low on secondary (for Stagg standards) seen it at 160 recently. Lowest secondary market Stagg I’ve seen in awhile. Not the best reviewed Stagg but still a Stagg.

Feathers ruffled, lol. No whiskey that I’ve ever had is worth overpaying for on my part. Msrp is where I usually sit. Bit above if it’s liked but I’ll not pay it up!

You’re lying to yourself then. MSRP is pretty arbitrary. Some things at MSRP could be a great value to you. Others might not be. If you’re valuing every whiskey at its MSRP and not your own palate, you’re doing it wrong. For example, I’d much rather have a Weller 107 than an Old Forester 1924. If I saw them both on a shelf for $80 I’d take the 107 all day. Thats almost double the price of 107 and almost half the price for 1924. But I enjoy 107 as much if not more than 95% of the other $80 bottles on the shelf.

@@Ona1000 why are you here judging me on my preference and taste? Obvious to me that you didn’t exactly read my comment. Great thing about bourbon to me is that everyone is free to enjoy it how when and why.

Friends don't let friends over pay. You make me cringe every time you said you'd over pay. That's who all these distillers love. JUST SAY NO
