The same thing happened with my monstera aurea 😢 the node chono is in a prop box and im hoping for the best
Ralphie!!! ❤❤
i wish yt had a photo upload to the comments, the Noid mint i got but non-mint. i bought it because it was "deformed" its growing just fine, sorta, it put out a conjoined leaf segment, literally two leafs on the same node and the petioles are fused up to a point, so weird i love it, but the striations are curved even more than this one in the video and suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper deep almost to the center, maybe a few mms away from it, and its LARGE. i love my weird monstera buy
That’s so cool! Mechanical sports are super rare. Would be really cool to see how the characteristics carry on if you propagate it.
I’m not sure you are pronouncing papillilaminum correctly.
I’m not sure I give a shit
The demand issue? Yeah. It kills nice things. The resilience and needy issue? I don't agree. I water it, I put it in the window, it's great. Never a disease. My summer's hit 110F and the glass the leaves touch will burn. That's it. It got root bound, propagated without an issue, extra plants were given away, and one person complimented all the half-moon leaves. Always has a lot of pink in different patterns and ways in all of its leaves. It was $20 at a grocery store.
I got 2 for 20 and they are pretty big mine are doing good
That’s awesome!
Yes, I have a Philodendron Atobapoense and it is one of my most favorite plant 🪴 It just grows and grows and grows!
I love this! ❤❤❤😅
Now THAT was so much fun 🎉😆🤗🎈😁
What kind of nutrients do you use? Can you give us the actual price?
Hi! Thank you. This was very helpful. I am just starting my anthurium journey🚗 I have had plants 🪴for many years📅📅 and have always🌈 loved ❤ this hobby.😁 I recently made some serious🤨 anthurium purchases💰and want to give them every opportunity to thrive. One of them is a veitchii👶 seedling and wondering🤔⏰️ if I should transfer to Pon or wait ⏰️until it gets a little bigger. Anyway, I love your plants in the background and what is your 🐕 dog's name? Btw, subscribed and liked👍 and look forward 🫡to more🍃 🌿🌿content.🤗
THANK YOU SO MUCH 🥹🌱 I just received a queen dark form seedling as well as a pallidiflorum narrow and an sp morona. Do you think that I should acclimate all of them the same way? I'm thinking since they're imported from Texas that the answer is yes. Also, do you use distilled water? I s that what you mean by the "right water"? I smashed that subscribe button so fast! Glad to have found you 💚
I’m so sorry, but I don’t really post on here anymore, but glad you like it! By “right water” I just mean filtered and ph balanced with good fertilizer.
@ that is quite alright. Thank you for the response 💚
Mine is doing perfect. The pink one and the orange prince. And i picked them up for 10 bucks each from a local grower. I just take care of it in the same way I take care of my philodendron. 🤷♀️
Nice! I’ve heard that the batches that have been coming out of TC in the last year or two are hardier than the ones that were coming out around when I made this. So that’s good. I see then on grocery stores all the time these days. Wish I could buy them all and time travel back to 2020, haha!
Not as Finicky as the Cathaleas tho. They still hold the throne 👑
Calatheas are high Maintenance queens, for sure!
I absolutely love philodendrons but as far as variegation it’s not that important to me. Some of those plants are still expensive and with chances of reverting. I just don’t think it’s that serious and besides there’s plenty of plants that can provide the same look for so much cheaper pricing with stable variegation.
That’s so real. The good thing is these days, there are SO many types that used to be really expensive popping up in box stores so it’s much easier to try things out without being worried you’re going to lose an investment.
You sound haded af 😂😂😂
Lmao, valid ❤️✨
Geez they are leaves lol
Lmao I know… sometimes I literally try to retrace the steps of why I care 🤣🤣🤣
@@PlantFriendDownTheStreet I get it, I've been eyeing some doc blocks myself 🤣 nice video.
Do i just add water below the roots or all the way up covering the roots?
I try to keep it like 25% full
Hoya Pubicalyx ?
Probably, idk I’m not that good on Hoya IDs
I purposefully waited until the hype died down, I bought my first one for $15 and it has some variegation. Not a whole lot but beautiful none the less, I’m looking forward to caring for it!
You are smart! I see them at grocery stores and box stores all the time these days. Cool that ppl can try them without committing to a big purchase anymore.
Interested to know where your info about the NSE Carla’s came from ? 🤔 hopefully reputable for you to mention it it in your video
I have one and did a lot of research before I bought it on where the line came from and the. dealt with Enid directly when the plant I received never developed veins and she replaced it. I got it almost two years ago. It was a known issue that there was a bad batch of NSE Carla seedlings that ended up being bench hybrids, if you go back far enough in the forums, you’ll find people talking about it.
Trump ads-🤮
Wait, really? That’s so annoying!
I was wondering why there are no new videos? I hope you are doing ok
I’m doing good, I got a big girl job and I’m just too busy to make videos on top of it. I still get to make videos in my new job too so it’s pretty cool.
@@PlantFriendDownTheStreet We miss you )
My fav is Longissimilobum. I have the draco which also gives weird and unique leaf shapes. Thanks for this video.
You have excellent taste
🔥Palmstreet is exploding w/ Anthuriums. This video helped me out A LOT w/ buying fm the industry that uses these names. Plant guy fm down under told their viewers not bother w/ names but that's a huge disadvantage b/c buyers would be at a lost or swindled if they didn't know what they were buying. Anthuriums basically are dog breeds.
That’s a really good way to explain it and thank you for the kind words ❤️
I just found my favourite plant channel, only to learn that you dont do it anymore. 😢
I’m sorry, it was fun and I really do miss it but I got a new job IRL and it’s just been too much to keep trying to do both. Doesn’t help that the laptop I used has pretty much crapped out as well. I’ll try to post shorts more often!
Anthuriums are like dog breeds or agriculture. And they're being selectively bred for desired characteristics too. But as you eluded to, just like in agriculture/pet trade, there is Show quality, Breeder quality, and Pet quality. Known lines of champion breeds are highly coveted and aptly priced, but the puppy mill in town can give you the same breeds for the fraction of the price but the pups'lll be inferior in all ways to include vigor & health. Fortunately the ubiquity of TC has leveled the playing field and really put extremely rare plants in everyday peoples' homes 🙂 At this point I'd like to order a Purple-Pillow-Triangle-Leaf Anthurium w/ no veins showing.
That’s exactly right and a great analogy, and that purple pillow anthurium sounds beautiful! Hopefully we see some that look like that coming out soon.
I appreciate your video. Thank you for the information.
I found 4 pink princesses in Home Depot for $19.99 and bought one, so I went back the next day, they were gone, so the demand still remains. The plants were well variegated, but I understand the variegation is unstable, so I plan to cut the reverted segments and propagate the pink cuttings - like I did to my marble queen.
That’s awesome! Very glad that nice ones are starting to turn up in big box stores! This video is super old so I know a lot has changed since then!
Hey will u be doing a video on the monstera devil@ balbusaur, i think they are some of the fasciest monsteras… will i be elidgible for the albo u are giving away for those who watched till the endz?
I don’t really post long form content anymore but I’ve seen the bulbasaur and it’s really cute. This video is almost 2 years old so that giveaway closed a long time ago unfortunately.
Hi thanks, I just started my plant Infatuation 2 years ago. Just 0ver 50 now...think that has something to do with it. Ya that and the world going to hell a few years ago. Bless. Everyone needs a Jungle Room though, just with a spare bedroom or something, with large tapestries of jungle and huge plants, bird sounds 24/7. Fake grass on the floor. :)
Thanks :)
Thank You. :)
Such a nice lady, very acknowledgeable about tropical plants.Really enjoy your channel.
Please rinse it outside because it can clog the drain. I learned the hard way😢
Not at the frequency that I do it. I probably rinse no more than a quart of pon every 5 months or so but if I had somewhere outside to rinse it, I would. I don’t have a yard or anything unfortunately.
Let's be honest, influencers only care about ridiculously expensive plants. The Pink Princess Philodendron was idolized by them for years when it was expensive. Now, that it's cheaper and anyone can buy it, it's suddenly no longer interesting, suddenly it has a bunch of problems, and so on and so forth. We're seeing this happen with other species too. You can see a pattern.
This video is almost two years old so no this sentiment is not “suddenly” now they they’re more accessible… they have been popping up in box stores for over a year. This was filmed back when they were still pretty pricey and I stand by it but at least now that they are more affordable, if you want to try them out and have a bad experience growing them, you’re only out a few bucks instead of a pretty penny. I actually saw about five decent sized ones with some pretty leaves at the grocery store today. It is a shame though because now that plants are so much cheaper, a lot of small businesses are the ones that closed and the big tissue culture operations are the ones making the money 🤷🏼♀️.
This is why I like to buy things in person, I can choose the plant I want. So much easier.
Now that more cool things are showing up in box stores/nurseries and there are more aroids at plant shows, it is really fun to buy things in person!
🌹🌹❤️❤️🦘🐨😊
Thank you!!!
GoG Monstera is pne of my dream plants! Crossing my fingers for you ❤
I can’t believe I messed this one up 😞
Oh, first time I've seen you dog other than your pfp 🤩
He’s a good boi
Hoyas make me happy. If you keep that pot under good light, you’ll get blooms in like 2 years instead of 5 hehe
Nice! Its under some growlights so here’s to blooms in two years ❤️
I’ve got quite a few I have to do this spring - not long to go now here in New Zealand 🇳🇿 🎉
Wishing you luck!
@@PlantFriendDownTheStreet thanks, I need it. I hate repotting 😂😂
Question, why is the color of the plant at the end not good? What does that mean?
It’s supposed to be a variegated plant and there’s hardly any variegation that’s all
Hello friend! Omg, she’s a beauty! Which anthurium is this?
I don’t even remember, this was a WHILE ago haha
Hopefully😂😂😂... You got me cracking there😂
Yay
I love how real you are. 😂
Someone’s gotta
Damn that albooooo! Aa.
It’s been a labor of love and it still won’t get any bigger 😵💫
I have a velvet maria that's starting to get bigger but throws a tantrum when I try to lower the humidity and the leaves get all wilted so then I throw a bag back on it 😅 sigh maybe I'll just get it a bigger cloche thingy
See this might be an exception to this. I def wouldn’t do this with a queen or a splendidum
@@PlantFriendDownTheStreet yeah it's like the whole plant wilts in a few hours and then pops back with a wet bag over it. I might try again after this leaf hardens up, maybe keep a dry bag on it see how that goes if I can change it more slowly.
Lolol I learned to not even look at my plants while drunk. Mistakes have been made
Hahahahaha oh I fucked up a gog monstera last week stone cold sober so my expectations for my decisions are aways low
