So that was on my original list but because of dupes and rumours of TC we decided to leave it off. They really don’t sell for that much anymore and attempts to hybridize them haven’t yielded many offspring with nice qualities so we decided to leave it off. The best way to get many of the characteristics of these beautiful anthuriums is to get a hybrid. They are a lot more inexpensive, and often have the best characteristics of two plants. I've been buying a lot of hybrids lately. The plant community has done a really good job with these.
Very true! Looking forward to covering a lot of cool anthurium hybrids in a future video. Hybrids unfortunately are a bit of a crap shoot on which characteristics they end up showing and don’t hold their value as well as the pure species plants do, but are perfectly fine for the average collector wanting something pretty for a more reasonable price and less stress ✨❤️🪴
just as a little "fun fact" anthurium red crystallinum isnt really a crystallinum as far as i know its based on the wonderboy hybrid by tim anderson (basically he wanted to create a hybrid out of every velvet plant he had), later on it was called red crystallinum bv enid from nse tropicals based on the red emergent leaves. basically the parentage is not really known
I’ve got another one coming that talks about what to look for and which questions to ask that should be coming out next week as well. Glad you enjoyed!
My friend started all the seeds and sent me a seedling when they were a little bigger. I hauled it in a video like almost 2 years ago. I think I’m holding a Florida beauty and a white princess in the thumbnail
I'm watching this 7 months late, and some of the numbers have changed ... of course. But I really appreciate your taste in plants, and the research and thought you put in to this. I bought a couple of the anthuriums you recommended. Not cheap, but so worth it for a splurge.
Great video, have a lot of this Lou . Trying to get a RA1 BVEP and an OG Circus I didn’t even know of the DF Nov!!!! Added to want list too…!! Bougie Anthuriums are so addictive!
This video for me is the ultimate reason why you shouldn't really buy expensive anthuriums at least here in Poland. The video is 10 months old and I can already see how big of a price diffrence so many of this are, here in Poland you can already buy docblock Anthys for 150usd and less and Kunayalense also for 150usd (compered to 2250 from the video). Waiting a year just lets you save up so so much money and that's why I always wait untill this expensive anthuriums hit 100usd threshold before buying. Well executed video tho!
Great video, thanks for sharing all your research on rare and luxurious anthuriums, enjoyed a lot! You've done such a great job growing the anthurium dressolerii from seed! 🔥Palmstreet is exploding w/ Anthuriums. This video helped me out A LOT w/ buying fm the industry that uses these names. Plant guy fm down under told their viewers not bother w/ names but that's a huge disadvantage b/c buyers would be at a lost or swindled if they didn't know what they were buying. Anthuriums basically are dog breeds.
The prices are so interesting to me. Here in the Netherlands you can get Anthurium chrystallinum, clarinervium and silver blush from about €10 for a smaller plant with often multiple in one pot. The biggest chain garden centre started carrying a lot of "rare" plants since covid, so once they are there, prices drop a lot. Not particularly at those garden centres, but other sellers drop their prices a lot to he able to compete with that big chain😅 I recently (april) got a small a. regale for €30 at a plantmarket in Germany (botanika hamm). Even Germany and the Netherlands seem to have quite different pricing.
interesting to see the difference in the plant cost in different regions. I'm in Australia, and I often watch content from the EU and the US and it can be VERY different. Not in taste for the fancy factors, but availability. I can see (in early July 2023) A. Panamense for sale here for around AUD$200 (closer to $135 USD) for a small plant. I guess its more easily available here. But with our strict biosecurity laws, there are many that are almost impossible to get here, and you can't get them for any money.
Very interesting! A few of the ones on here are more widely available in Australia, like the Hoffmanii. Ilsemanii was much more widely available for a long time too.

I loved this video! I'm not really up-to-date when it comes to the rare plants (anymore), so this was very entertaining and informative :). Anthuriums are a nice genus, but most of them look too similar (with a few exceptions ofcourse), so you really have to want them for the species, cultivar and/or...to be honest...the value and rarity. I remember when rare plants dropped down in price after the pandemic. All of a sudden a lot of plant owners didn't want them anymore. Psychologically things or even humans seem to appear more attractive when they're high in value. Anyway, I do love the Sp DF Nov. Will you cover another genus in the future?

I actually saw listings for it today and for the prices it was listed for, it wouldn’t have made the list. They are beautiful so I think the hybrids list will be the right place for them 😊. Part of the reason they were left off is because we couldn’t find solid pricing that was recent enough.
@@PlantFriendDownTheStreet yes I think one of the reason is because it’s hard to get the F1 ones.. most of the plants that’s in the market nowadays are F2, it’s original genetic is kinda weak, so when ppl try to hybridize them the result will hardly come to their expectation.
