How to : Working GU Patrol Tail Lights
HOW TO MAKE YOUR PATROL TAIL LIGHTS FUNCTION!
Here is a walkthrough on how I wired in the tail lights in my GU patrol.
I purchased series 3 tail lights that are fitted with globes and wiring from Ebay (link below) and replaced the factory tail lights. I joined the wires from the passenger side body harness to multicore wire, snaked them through the roof internally and down the drivers quarter to the drivers side tail light. From here, I fitted the wires into a plug and that's how easy it is.
Here is a link to the Tail Lights I ordered. The price has increased drastically since I purchased them.

Here is a link to identical lights for a much better price from another seller that I buy from frequently.

TD42 Rebuild Part 1: Disassembly
Переглядів 3,4 тис.6 місяців тому
Here's what I found when tearing down my TD42T. This engine is a bit of a mystery to me as I don't know the original vehicle it came out of. I have no information on KMs or age of the engine so a quick teardown was needed to inspect the engine and replace some leaky gaskets along the way. I found a few major issues such as a damaged crank nose and blocked oil pickup. This lead me to decide on a...

Any chance you got this car sitting around still with the RHD bits? Would be interested in seeing about shipping some of it to the states if you're interested.
What do you need?
i hate cars that dont have solid axle, thats why i love ug patrols
Where do u get a manual book please? Need one 4 a np300
You could try contacting Nissan or try a 3rd party site like Scribd.
Old black-top turd some backyard toss through a snail on and used loads of goop to hold together.
Certainly how it looks 😂 almost have all the flash turbo gear to put it back together just chasing down a UFI 18G 👍🏻
What’s the injectors cost ?
Not cheap! I have a link in the description to where they can be purchased 👍🏻
Hello, met you @ Verrierdale property yesterday, you bought tyres. I’ve put the family & Grandsons onto your website & videos. Great job by the way, we’ll done!
Hello, was very nice meeting you. Thank you very much I have also checked out Wild Reaches and subscribed 👍🏻 very cool channel!
Nice, thanks for that, one of mine died this morning, thought is was going to be a big job.
No worries mate, hope it all goes to plan 👍🏻
How did you get to the bolt for where the 4 fuel lines meet?
With great difficulty and swearing 😂 from memory I used an extension and wobbly drive
What ever happened to the sassed d22
Shes still sitting in the same spot in my shed, need to find the time to get back onto it
My D22 failed exactly as you described with surging and power loss in 4th, and the heater switch symptom. Brilliant. Just waiting for the new part. Many thanks for the video.
No worries mate 👍🏻 hopefully install goes smoothly
Hi, is there no need to depressurize the fuel system before removing the injectors? Also did you bleed the fuel system afterwards? - Daniel
Hello the fuel system will depressurise as you undo the injectors if there is any pressure left in the system and yes the fuel system has to be bled afterwards👍🏻
@@ReubsModifications thank you a lot for this info!
@@DanielKessler-iq2zu no worries mate let me know if you have any more questions 👍🏻
@@ReubsModifications hey mate, do you have any tips for bleeding the fuel system in a navara? I tried most things from the book, but it just doesn't want to start up.
@@DanielKessler-iq2zu have you programmed the new injectors?
No part 2?
Not yet sorry, haven’t had the time to put it back together.
Hey mate doing a sas on my nav as well, is it zd30 gearbox with rd transfer or rd gearbox n transfer with zd internals ?
I used the RD internals as my ZD ones weren’t great so I used RD transfer, gearset and box with the ZD Bellhousing 👍🏻
it's really helpful mate, thanks for all your videos
Thanks mate glad you appreciate it 👍🏻
dude youve won a like just because of the bravery, one must be crazy to do this, not a job for anyone indeed. congrats!
Thanks mate considering it’s still in my shed I haven’t achieved a whole lot but I’ll get back to it eventually 👍🏻
Very nice mate I love the d22 and d40 but they aren’t worth becoming a money pit, has it given you problems yet
If you can spend smart on these cars they can be quite good for cheap. Mine didn’t have too many issues that weren’t caused by myself 😂
@@ReubsModifications hopefully it last a long time for you
Looks good all fitted up.
Much better than the split ones I had in there 😂
Cheers Ruebs, FYI, lights cable can run under the rear plastic strip on floor at rear, likely under your drawers. The rear quater (if not chopped) has holes and gromets to use if needed.
Thanks Ben, as always excellent information and tips 👍🏻
@@ReubsModifications One day, I might have to come for scoot and roll up on your workshop. Cheers man, keep up the work and the great attitude.
Sounds good hopefully I turn some of my mess into some nice running cars before then 😂
I used to work in a Nissan parts department. The Jap spec vehicles had the real lights, we used to stock them. They could be ordered through Nissan, but when we'd sell them we would have to give the customer the spiel about ADR etc. There's a shop in Perth called Atlas Parts that used to sell them too, I'm assuming they still do.
What's the ADR spiel?
@MrTexMart Not meant for Australian spec vehicles, fit them at your own peril, not responsible for accidents or contravening road rules etc. The T30 Xtrail had a blank in the rear bumper for a fog light fitted in overseas vehicles. We could sell them, but same deal.
@@herbertwongsanimations6266 thank you for the explanation! @ReubsModifications ordered the tail lights, thanks mate!
@herbertwonsanimations6266 thanks for sharing that information awesome to hear it straight from the source 👍🏻
@MrTexMart No Worries! Awesome to hear, let me know if you have any troubles 👍🏻
Such helpful information, as always. I'll be using this when I do my tail lights. Thanks for posting.
Thanks mate always great to get positive feedback 👍🏻 let me know if you run into any issues.
Are you saying the bottom large connection is the "in" side? 0:27
Yes however check your installation guide as there might have been changes since I made this video.
Brilliant suggestion of how to get the rubber boot in place over the piston. I put a kit through a twin piston set off a GQ today for the very first time and your video made what could have been a very difficult job a lot easier. Thanks for your efforts.
Thanks mate, excellent to hear the video was helpful to you 👍🏻
Best tutorial l have seen for a long time. Clear, concise, not full of bullshit self promotion for 20 minutes at the start, just straight in, job done and finished. Cheers
Thanks mate glad you found it helpful 👍🏻
Thank you. Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
I done plenty of cruiser swivel hubs, but never a patrol. Great 2 part video mate. Helped in a few spots!👍🎯🍻🇦🇺
Thanks mate glad you found it helpful 🤙🏻
Brilliant! But would it have killed you to wipe the dust off?!
Not a bad idea 😂 however it’s only going to get dusty again
@@ReubsModifications That's what I used to tell my mum! It never worked...
Where are you based
North of Brisbane 👍🏻
@@ReubsModifications do you do work on peoples cars
@@craighalliwell96 not at the moment only on company vehicles 👍🏻
Can you buy the bullbar coloured like that from Ironman?
I believe you can get it optioned in this colour
Any tips on removing and replacing the vac pump? I'm replacing the injector pump but there's one nut there I can't get to without removing the vac pump first
Depends if the engine is in the car or not, makes it much easier if it’s out. I’m guessing the nut you can’t get to is the one between the block and the pump. If you have a few 1/4in extensions and a wobble drive it should work for you 👍🏻
That was an excellent video. I now know that I can use the draw system as a bed base for my touring rig. Thanks.
That’s awesome to hear glad it was helpful mate 👍🏻
Next ep?
Hopefully in the next month or so, I’ve been away for a while but keen to get back into it 👍🏻
How you found the ppd intercooler mate? Especially intake temp wise. Just orded one for my triton and noticed was very few fins inside the actully core to disperse heat so curious to know how yours performed That and mine came with pipes all messed up so debating whether to tell them to take the entire kit back and refund me if it actually doesn't work very good Cheers 7:09 7:33
Quite a few pipes were rubbing in various places. As for the temp drop I can’t say as I didn’t have gauges
How come you never finish the d22 sas episodes
I’ve run out of time lately but I will get back to it hopefully this year
Awesome vid bro really helped me understand the kings drawer set up and what I wanna look for 🤙🤙
Thanks mate, glad I could help 👍🏻
I wanted a Toyota, but found a cheap nav im doing a top end rebuild on. i got to say ill never buy or recommend one they are the worst cars. I appreciate your videos its helping me with my build but dam these are uselesss 4x4
No worries mate, did you get the ZD or the YD?

Wait, a spoiler adds 100 horsepower?
Only this one that I put on my car, doesn’t work for other peoples cars

Job Well Done, Great Aussie Instructional Video Brother 👍👍❤️❤️
Thanks mate 🤙🏻 appreciate the feedback 👍🏻
Reubs! Your a bloody legend. Been dealing with only one speed for over a year now. Took me 20 minutes to fix it with your advice. Cheers mate
Excellent to hear 👍🏻 thanks mate
I bought one with problems on the 4x4 system, it only works as a 4x2. In your opinion is this something that can be fixed? Would it cost an arm and a leg?
Hey mate it depends what the issue is as there are a few things that can go wrong. If you can fix it yourself I’d imagine it wouldn’t be over $800. Likely to be either transfer case, front diff, CVs or hub locks. Start at the TC and work your way forward 👍🏻 parts for D22s are quite cheap and are everywhere
Great video mate. How much did they quote you for the bar
Thanks mate, for the bar and extras I got it’s around $1500 but would depend on what extras you want 👍🏻
I did this job yesterday. in Europe you have to put a lot more grease in the bearings! the climate is more humid
Great tip 👍🏻
dude really just said 15 horsepower gain from paint? 💀💀
😂😂
When's the next episode coming? Been waiting for a year to see the project getting finished.
Hey mate been really busy with the patrol and renovating but I’m hoping to get back on the nav later this year 👍🏻
Hey mate, what’s involved in putting a patrol intercooler in my d22 zd30? Im assuming it all lines up but could be wrong Cheers
Hey mate, I haven't done this myself but I believe it's as easy as getting the intercooler and valve cover off a patrol and swapping them over👍
Is there a Part 2 to this?
Hey mate there will be a part two but it wont be out for a while, still waiting on parts to rebuild👍
Absolutely fantastic video...concise and informative. The fact you bother naming all the parts and the size of socket/spanner required sets this video head and shoulders above the rest...On to the next one.
Thank you very much for the feedback 👍, glad you liked it!
excellent work....very good camera work as well...
Thanks mate 👍 appreciate the feedback!
how much easier is the saw! also if you cut it the same way you done you can template the offcut then weld that in, ez pz
The saw was about 10x faster but it makes an ungodly noise tearing through the quarter. Worth it though 👍🏻
yeah boii <3
