  • Hey Guys, I bought some Titan Drawers from 4wd Supacentre to start my camping setup in my series 2 GU Patrol. Installation is fairly straight forward but will take a couple hours and basic tools. I think for the money spent these drawers are very impressive and a great way to begin setting up the rear end of your wagon.

    That was an excellent video. I now know that I can use the draw system as a bed base for my touring rig. Thanks.

    Next Mod: Gas strut the left rear door!
    TIPS: Give serious thought to electrics before bolting in. This like secondary battery options, power outlets and external camping solar inputs (charge vehicle and run fridge while parked up). Another suck is the rear left infill will block the rear aircon cabin air inlet so some mods and thoughts there as well. Stow and stack gear to suit your realistic needs. Too many flog-bags getting around with full weight of camping setup while justy being a daily drive to and from work. The GU only has a 3T GVM and this comes close in full factory trim and passengers.

      Haha already have the gas strut ready to go in, that door is a pain 😂
      Great tips, I’ve got power routed to the back already. I’ll have to look into what it weighs unloaded and see what room I have left for extras👍🏻

      @@ReubsModifications Mods under and inside usually wont do the GVM over but roof racks and people love of putting shit on them does it for sure.

      Haha good point there, not impossible to get to it after install but it definitely makes it a bit more tricky.

    Hey mate, you still doing the SAS on the D22? Or did you do the financially smart/yet boring decision and buy a factory solid axle vehicle 😂

    • @ReubsModifications
      @ReubsModifications  Рік тому +2

      Yes to both 😂 SAS is still happening, just bought a GU wagon that I’m working on to be a daily/weekend camping rig to use while the nav is being built 👍🏻

    Hey mate, did u use different bolts to bolt the drawers to the floor?

    • @ReubsModifications

      Yes I did, the kit was meant to come with bolts supplied but mine dint have any for some reason so I used whatever I had lying around.

    Hey mate what bolts did you use to mount the housing down to the four holes. Did you use the bolts provided or the factory bolts?

    • @ReubsModifications
      @ReubsModifications  Рік тому

      I had to scratch around in the shed to find some bolts as the draws didn't come with any, I'm pretty sure they are meant to come with the 4 to mount the draws but mine didn't. I also didn't have the factory bolts due to the previous owner removing them.

      @@timmyg1983 I ended up using the child restraint bolts with a washer to bolt them down. They supplied a universal bolt kit which was like 4x m10 bolts. Useless

  • @ibsn87

    So, how does one install child seats in the rear legally? Spoke to 4wd SC, and they knew nothing about it. Citing they have sold thousands and no ones ever asked about child seats. I find it hard to believe of those thousands of people, no one has kids in the rear seat? The 1070 and even 900mm draws cover the tie down points for rear child seats??

    • @ReubsModifications
      @ReubsModifications  Рік тому

      That sounds like a question for an engineer, SC would only be interested in selling more of their product. Given that this covers the tie down points and would affect sales they probably don't want to advertise it. I'm not an engineer but id say if you really wanted both child seats and rear drawers there would be a way to work it out legally however it would cost you.

    • @ibsn87
      @ibsn87 Рік тому

      @@ReubsModifications the simple answer is, they cover the tie down points, and you cannot legally tie down your child seats to this point. Some brands of draws are certified and you can. That’s the difference.
      You can tie back to above the rear doors. But that’s not exactly ideal or practical

    • @ReubsModifications
      @ReubsModifications  Рік тому

      Right, im going to assume that those brands that offer the certified points are also more expensive than the SC ones. Probably also better quality too.

    • @ibsn87
      @ibsn87 Рік тому +1

      @@ReubsModifications yep. The problem I see is that. 5 guys in 4wd SC were unable to answer my question. And a senior leader behind the counter said “I’ve never even heard anyone ask the question, and we sell thousands of these a year so it should be fine”. They sell those draws for an incredible cheap price. Quite good value for money considering a fancy fridge slide can cost you $500-$1000. But they have a bit of an obligation to warn people with families that this will basically disable child seating in the rear seats. The issue I have was their ignorance about it, particularly evolving around family safety. Kinda? A big deal. I’m willing to bet 99% of people after installing and realizing it’s a problem wouldn’t be motivated to return it.
