Yeah definitely agree F3 was a darker Fallout overall, from Paradise Falls to the Pitt. And the best Fallout game Bethesda made has to be F3 without a doubt. The Pitt was my favourite dlc in it. Not trying to say its the best Fallout dlc made, just my favourite imo. Though grim dark for a lot. Point Lookout to Pitt. It also had its light in the darkness , its beacons of hope in the form of James, Dr Li, project purity ( maybe even the BOS at that stage ? ) and the land of Oasis. Where the unique entity of Harold became a kind of " Father nature". Spreading his greenery, flora and roots around bringing new life and a kind of garden of Eden to the wastes.

As far as Lyon's mission directive goes in the Pitt. Him and the Lyon's Pride weren't there to purge the mutated or less mutated inhabitants. Yes sure, they Lyons and his squad cut down hundreds. Only those that were stupid or crazy enough to attack the elite Brotherhood squad of elite knights and paladins. ( I checked out a few of rhe squad in Fallout Wiki. At least one was a melee expert with a war hammer. And I'd dare say they had at least one with a mini gun or Gatling laser when they entered the Pitt. Counting Lyons himself with his powerful custom LEAR rifle , Sarah, paladin Glade ( with the hammer) Ashur and at least one heavy weapons mingun or Gatling laser knight. That's at least 5 elite BOS knights, paladins in the squad there. The squad was said to be minimal. As the operation was more like an in and out mission during the night. The mission itself was to retrieve a piece of technology that there is no real information on. Other than it was highly sought after by Elder Lyons for whatever reason. It just happened that during the mission for the important piece of tech, Lyons and his squad managed to wipe out over half the wild man, raider and trog population in the Pitt in one night. Also he, they retrieved some healthy children that had managed to survive in the Pitt up til then. Children that became squires, initiates , and knights later on.

I mean I feel as though some sort of military terminal would reveal china having more advanced robots since high command would likely have to account for it when developing strategies against it, especially in fallout 3 where we can read classified info out of pentagon terminals.

Calling the platform Fallout doesn't make sense for the base game because Fallout was the title of the first game in the series. I would rather it be called something like Fallout America.

Only time I took the Cannibal perk was the first time playing Survival. But the Dark Craving addiction was WAY too obnoxious. Especially when you accidentally eat a corpse by hitting the wrong button, and boom. Dark Craving. No way to cancel the action. Even when I hit level 286 or whatever and have enough perk points to raise all the SPECIAL attributes to 10 and get every perk too, I will deliberately leave that one alone.

My first encounter with a ghoul was in Fallout 3. I was exploring the map for the first time and walked into a subway tunnel..... It was completely filled with a horde of ghouls and my heart stopped 😭😭😭 it was the scariest thing ive ever encountered next to finding dead wind cavern for the first time.

it is explained in the extended lore on the robots within the universe that they were programed to emulate human emotions but only to a small extent the only reason some do is due to a break in the limiters within them this is what leads them to have weird quirks and seem more human or express more emotion we see this with a few in the games

The most dangerous character in the game is the main protagonist. There is nobody that you cannot kill. So there is really no danger. By the time you get to her, you should have at least a rocket launcher. Or a fat man.

i really dont think the critique is about the silliness being present in the first place. fallout 1 and 2 are very clearly notoriously wacky, 2 especially being filled to the brim with pop culture references. the darker themes, the overall tone of the games, and the context of the world your're in are still a lot more fleshed out than the bethesda games despite this. i think most peoples problems stem from *how* the humor is presented which is where the interplay/black isle/obsidian titles differ from bethesdas. people will just have different opinions on it. for example, most of the sarcasm lines in fo4 are probably some of the least funny jokes i've ever heard.

Well being they already introduced teleportation in fallout 4, it kind of renders your subway idea obsolete 😊

Fallout 76 is an absolutely incredible game and I am tired of pretending it isn’t.

Nuclear Anomaly is one: Your health got low so now you explode like a mini nuke and it heals you up to 20 HP and removes your radiation in the process while also damaging anyone around you. Bloody Mess in fallout 4 and 76 if I remember correctly gets really weird at max level, because when you kill someone and they explode into meat bits, there's a chance some of the individuals around them will also explode into meaty bit, so you can literally punch a guy so hard that not only does he explode into meaty bits but so does the guy next to him.

That’s the only way they could make this idea work. They’d have to start building all the major cities and then slowly build the maps that connect the states. People will want open wastelands to traverse and they will want vehicles like in the mad max series.

The sentence "Chinese liberty prime" is literally everything wrong with Bethesda's fallout. It's about some exaggerated nonsensical nothing that has no reason to be the focal point of anything tangentially related to fallout. But that's what happens when you have fan fiction games that Bethesda makes that redefined the series, mostly for worse. Nobody should care about Chinese liberty prime because nobody should care about China because neither China or the USA are the point in fallout. The apocalypse was very clear on how they are ghosts of a bygone era that you should be leaving behind like dirt on the bottom of your shoe. Trying to find a new world to make out of the ashes. Fallout was never about the ashes or what lit those fires and if you are dumb enough to think that. Then might I suggest fornicating with drywall.
