the bradberton frozen head thing isn’t completely random, it’s probably taken directly from the walt disney frozen head conspiracy that was big in the mid 2010s
I have heard that the whole Nuka world dlc aside from the raider story is a parody of Disney land and Hershey land. The side quest where you have to find all cappy is a direct reference to finding hidden Micky Mouse in Disney Land.
The funny thing is, if you take things like kola nut powder and ground up coffee beans and mix them with either milk or dark chocolate, they work pretty well together. Scho-ka-kola from Germany does just that and it was even issued to German soldiers in WWII as one of the safer stimulant options that they had access to. I've taken a bit of a liking to it myself and use it as a less overkill alternative to energy drinks. I can still see how that would not work as a drink flavor though.
And on that, Nuka Town, USA is a play on Disney's Main Street, USA; Galactic Zone and Starport Nuka are like Tomorrow Land and Epcot; Kiddie Kingdom is like The Magic Kingdom; I'm not quite sure what Dry Rock Gulch is meant to parallel (if anything); and Safari Adventure, which is meant to be like Animal Kingdom. So, it's really interesting how Bethesda was able to mash PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, and Disney together and have one really cohesive idea that, as Todd Howard says, "just works" as well as it does, pop out of the mix.
I mean ... Coke is shady as hell and Disney is shady as hell, so go figure how Nuka-Cola, which is based on both, at least after being reimagined by Bethesda, is ALSO shady as hell.
Interesting insights. Very interesting point about the vault boy tattoos etc. It is quite strange and id never thought about it. One typically wouldn't get the logo of an evil organisation from a movie/game etc tattood on themselves, but they do with the vault boy, and that does reflect something about how we think about and are a to some extent brainwashed by brands
Actually, on the Nuka-Boost, Coca-Cola has a beverage, Coca-Cola with Coffee. The funny thing is, it wasn't introduced to market (in Japan) until AFTER Nuka World (Aug 30, 2016) was released. It originally released in 2017 in Japan, and was later introduced to America in 2021. That may be purely coincidence, but it does seem interesting, regardless.
You were talking about Coke and Pepsi & now that they are both part of inspirations for the in-game Nuka~Cola, on that note I saw a news story talking about how my favorite soda Dr. Pepper is now tied with Pepsi as the number two soda in the US. @28:43 Nuka~Boost has a real-world counterpart it was called, Coca~Cola BlāK it was a coffee-flavored soft drink introduced by Coca-Cola in 2006 and discontinued in 2008, I remember trying it and it was okay and fairly drinkable if you like both Coke and coffee the closest drink that you could make nowadays to mimic its flavor would be a drink of two parts Coke and one part coffee liqueur that has a very low level of ABV.
I remember the first time I saw this book. It literally took my breath away. It is my deepest wish that I produce something this beautiful one day. A true masterpiece. I'm so glad you guys covered it.
ill say this. With all the money Bradberton should have bought all the music and movies he could get his hands on and have some automatic function to play them
Preserving heads or perhaps brains and that would explain how Robobrains and similar managed to last so long, general atomics didn't make Robobrains just by themselves it was a military project so perhaps head/brain preservation tech was shared by the military with Trusted Military contractors for them to experiment with.
Nearly every company in fallout that evil is partnered with the government somehow in some private/ public partnership, thats fascism my friend, not capitalism.
They say that the syrups for shave ice said that it is only sugar water and no other flavor profiles. Because of the color of the syrup and the implied name tricks the mind to believe that a person is tasting that implied named syrup.
You had a half-hour video about Nuka-cola and you didn't once mention the Radium water craze of the 1920's? How is that even possible? That's the basis for the mock soda in the game.
Not gonna lie; I have done that in the past, too; Coffee with Coke is pretty good, ads an almost a cinnamon-y note, and carbonated coffee is an interesting sensory experience.
There's a weird lack of fallout youtube videos about the real world comparisons like this. This is like, the first one I've found. Is my algorithm broken or is it really this rare 😅😅
Good vid 👍 2:46 eh not really. If the marketing was reflective of the bad things the company did people wouldnt be fond of it. They might still enjoy it in a sadistic or sarcastic way but they wouldnt have positive feelings. Thats what makes it good marketing. Vault boy in fact represents all positive things about vault tec. Plenty of real world companies do terrible things and guess what, they all have very clever marketing and pr so they can stay in business. Also unsurprisingly nuka world marketing in the game is reminiscent of real world ads from the 50s and 60s. As gamers we play this game knowing or quickly find out that this game is essentially an alternate universe america with real world 50s vibes. The fans that enjoy this fictional americana would most likely enjoy nuka cola because its just another way for the game to push its narrative which we as willing gamers not only are receptive to but are eager to absorb because its world building. And if we dont like it we just ignore that part of the game or dont play it. 4:10 thats a pretty weak argument even pre-war when nearly everything is nuclear powered and the availabily to tech and meds that can remove or virtually nullify exposure to rads exists. Post war is an even weaker argument. Almost all food, water, air, and soil is irradiated to some degree and tech and meds that can eliminate or reduce radiation is still widely available. Also post war would you water drink some dirty water or an ice cold refreshing nuka cola? Of course people still enjoy the beverage and post war they dont even have to feel guilty about enjoying it because the company doesnt exist and finding a nuka cola is basically like finding a dollar because of the cap. Its a win-win-win. Dozens of stadiums can hold more than 40k or even 80k and they are probably all smaller area than nuka world in fo4 but I will say 80k per day is an insane number of people.
Your statement about 2:45 isn’t surprising nowadays considering how many people support enforcing their own beliefs onto others without realizing it, and even worse when they do and don’t care.
Coca-Cola in real life have released actual blends of coffee and Coke. At first launch over a decade ago it was called Coke Black. Then it disappeared and came back more recently and it was just called Coke with Coffee, or something like that. I can't find it now; they may have already discontinued it again. I AM one of the very few people I know who actually liked it, so EDIT - I paused your vid to type this and then immediately saw that you plainly show a can of Coke with Coffee onscreen.
Tom doesn't know the difference between corporatism and capitalism tsk. Yes, cost per cup is negligible, after the billions of dollars in research, packaging, safety, insurance. Also, coke and coffee is outstanding, and you can buy it.
I wish the game rewarded you better for letting Bradburton live. It was men like him that made the world of Fallout, so I don't care enough to kill him and set him free.
Would have subscribed, however listening to you gripe non-stop about capitalism and using Fallout as an example of why capitalism is bad, just makes one shake their head. You don't use a fantasy game to describe what is happening in the real world. Get some help to distinguish fantasy from reality.
A billion is actually a million of millions not a thousand, check the math if you want and rememember americans did'nt invented math arabs and greeks did. A big thank you for a very good video and sorry for grammar, i hate autocompletion software.

Wow Tom sounding an awful lot like a commie lol
So as a former Disney CM, I can confirm that the brains that bubble up all the guest experiences and attractions are indeed still called "Imagineers."

Coming across that was the best part of that DLC
Only thing i can add is that in Australia at least i can confirm that we did actually have a coca cola coffee for a while there. It wasn’t good
we had it in nyc for a minute. i liked it. we also have manhatten special, i think has a bit of coco in as well. really good.

Frontier Land
Cappy and Bottle really make me think of Spongebob and Patrick for some reason.
Interesting, but i think you some times mix someones worth with income, and for items worth with price, they are different tings.
I mean ... Coke is shady as hell and Disney is shady as hell, so go figure how Nuka-Cola, which is based on both, at least after being reimagined by Bethesda, is ALSO shady as hell.
Pepsi, which is also in the mix, is also probably shady lol
29:50 watch out Tom, Liberty Prime would like to talk to you
You show Tennessee Vols' statium and say "a big stadium which holds 30, 40 thousand people".... LOL That stadium holds 100k+

Thanks, Chilldude. Glad you enjoyed it.
God, it makes me think of Hershey park mixed with Disney every time.

Would you drink a real Nuka-Cola?
Nah, I’m more of Sunset sarsaparilla gal🎉😅
I'll try anything once
Probably, but I would really want a Vim! though.
Yeah I probably would. At least one good chug, just to know what it tasted like.
So how many rads on average in a pre war Nuka Cola on average again?
I'd drink both nuka and sunset tho nuka would probably taste fruity and I enjoy root beer so sunset is a must try
You know after watching this episode they have coffee coke now and I was like wow did nuka cola call the future?
Oh yeah! Maybe the Coke people are Fallout fans?
@@FalloutLorecast I sure hope so at least as much as the Fallout guys are Coke Cola fans.
There are multiple recipes for multiple versions of Nuka Cola and I have made a couple of them.
How am I just now finding out about the head. I've played nuka world like 6 times
I remember the first time I saw this book. It literally took my breath away. It is my deepest wish that I produce something this beautiful one day. A true masterpiece.

Idk if I believe that as plain sugar water just tastes like sugar water not a pineapple or coconut
@@Rebrn-bk5em It’s more in line of psychological that people believe that there is difference between in different colors.

what did Bottle ever do to deserve such treatment?!
Coke a cola had a coffee/cola called Coke Black and I loved it. But I had already been adding Coke to my coffee or espresso to my Coke.
Not gonna lie; I have done that in the past, too; Coffee with Coke is pretty good, ads an almost a cinnamon-y note, and carbonated coffee is an interesting sensory experience.
I think Nuka cola is just supposed to be commentary on huge companies in general
@29:30 You think Coffee Cola would be bad? Never had a Long Black Russian then?

This video is amazing! Love the breakdown of vicious American capitalisim and no other franchise depicts it better than Fallout.
'Including moderation." I think I would like to try a coffee soda. I like chocolate soda.
A warning against corporatism, not capitalism...you should learn the difference.
coffee soda is delicious if made right and must be cold. and many people drink it. one brand is Manhattan Special. even coke has a coffee soda mix
Coke coffee sucks
Not every company in fallout was bad there was some good ones very few but still some

I for one do hate capitalism. It's brutal, leaves too many people behind, and wastes too much.
I'm getting itsanimegirl vibes
