Wow. You did a fantastic job of putting it into perspective just how old Lorenzo IS, by driving it home that he was born BEFORE the civil war! It's no longer just a few numbers that my brain doesn't process, anymore!
One thing I didn’t notice you or anyone in the community mention is that the various statues you can see on buildings (especially in fallout 3) have almost the exact same crowns on their head as Lorenzo Cabot in fallout 4. It’s definitely a huge connection the developers are making. Also those statues on buildings aren’t just a Bethesda thing. Remember the very first thing we see in Fallout 1 is a destroyed city and one of these ominous other worldly statue faces are there staring right at us. On top of all that what do we find in fallout 4 when we reach the bottom of Dunwich borrers? A giant Statue staring right back at us. The same one we see on architecture all through out the series. They are the precursor gods/civilization that have pulled the strings on everything in the fallout universe from the very beginning.
I'd never noticed that, honestly. I knew they were based on the Art Deco architecture that was popular at the beginning of the last century, these statues usually show angels or gods from real world mythology, but the statue above the door of the cathedral in Fallout 1, which looks a lot like the Syracuse Savings Bank's angel statue, has architecture behind it that is almost the same as Cabot's crown and, as you said, FO4's statue crowns. Very interesting.
@@alexandertiberius1098 I never knew there were some of these statues in real life as well that’s interesting. I wonder where they will take this in fallout 5. I doubt they really do anything too supernatural. Outside of a side quest like the Cabots.
@@maxgoss5653 I've always loved Art Deco architecture, we have some of it here in England, but nothing like the weird, imposing stuff America has. I like the idea of a precursor civilisation. Them having technology based psychic abilities of some kind, like Lorenzo does, could also explain the weird things that happen inside the Dunwich excavation; perhaps instead of supernatural visions, what we're seeing is psychic projections of people that have been "recorded" in some way.
@@alexandertiberius1098 for sure I’ve been playing through assassins creed again lately and it made me realize that they kinda already did this precursor civilization idea. But I think that what they are going for in fallout is something more lovecraftian. But yeah the statues having the same crown as Lorenzo is something I haven’t heard anyone mention.
i had a speculation that Lorenzo's story was going to continue within FO4, but that never happened, and i would picture him becoming a god to the children of Atom as they are the easiest to influence and he would fit in that role so well, if a modder wanted to make that into a quest mod, i would lend my voice his way to make that story happen. it kind of sucks because the cabot family aren't ever really talked about when thinking of parallel to the institute, you would think the institute would have caught wind of the cabot family and maybe spied on them and tried to learn their secrets, but no the vanilla game never has anything to do with the cabot family in any way, i mean bethesda did some stuff for other DLC content to be used with, but it just feels like there was more of a story that was meant to be with lorenzo's story. i once took him as a follower by forcing him to be my follower and that was a fun playthrough, and despite how strong the lore suggest he is, he's really not that powerful in game, which is sad because i would really want to see him in action.
Bethesda should make a spinoff game set in the 1890s where you accompany Lorenzo on his expedition to Ubar and must fight bandits, mad cultists, mercenaries employed by rival treasure hunters, wild animals, aliens, and eldritch abominations

Yes! This video perfectly encaptulates what I've been thinking. This quest has to be one of my favorite quests in fallout for these exact reasons. Also the tone and atmosphere are so well put together throughout this quest when you slowly uncover the mystery and finally meet lorenzo. It made me feel super uneasy especially roaming cabot house and parsons state because it really does feel like you're being watched throughout this quest. This is a really well made video.
The developers took bits of a number of Lovecraft's stories and wove them into the Lorenzo Cabot story. There isn't a whole lot more to this than embellishing Lovecraft in order not to seem to be deliberately plagiarizing his works. I can find numerous parallels in the Cabot story with at least four of Lovecraft's short stories and novellas. I applaud your imagination with this but I really suggest you read some Lovecraft. You'll be surprised at the similarities.
I want to see a series of humorous sketches about Lorenzo when he comes home and from his expedition and won’t take his crown off. Showering with it on, trying to sleep and his wife is complaining, hitting his head on doorways etc.
Ever since I read a comment that Fallout is very subtly but not unintentionally Lovecraftian, the way FEV works and how strangely radiation behaves, the weird circumstances preceding the mutually assured destruction of the Great War, the Children of Atom’s mysterious powers, the existence of psykers (mostly after radiation and mutated FEV enveloped the known world), Zetans and precursor races, all make sense through a Lovecraft lens. TLDR; Atom is a Lovecraftian god being and The Master was his vessel
This might sound really stupid but the imprint on the the top of the crown reminds me a lot of the bioshock logo from the first game. It looks kinda like the staues of rapture seen in the game aswell. Could be a small Easter egg
Maybe the crown is a Zetan artifact. I was thinking they're green because of the Saurian Hypothesis that states dinosaurs could've evolved and had a civilization on Earth. When the asteroid was about to hit Earth they left and found another planet. Besides the aliens are little green men.
I love this! Lorenzo Cabot is so cool! I would love to see him in the next Fallout game! Yes, him being in the Fallout TV series would be sick! I always save him in every playthrough! Liked & Subbed! Great vid, keep up the good work!

This is a awsome presentation. Tho after lisening to it, a thought came to mind as far a Fallout Lore and its question of then the History Split. i think you may have answered that question. if there was a Cabot Family in our own History then that is where it origianlly spit lol.. just a wild thought.
The cabbots are a composite. Some loosely based on the Kellogg family (yes the cereal people) but the name refers to the Cabot family of Vermont. Were a big deal in New England back in the day, still moderately significant in Vermont but nowhere near the influence they used to have.
Y’know what’s really telling about the Cabot House questline, if you let Lorenzo go. He doesn’t go on and empty entire towns or blow up the commonwealth. He just does scientific research on wasteland creatures and ghouls. You can argue that him killing said creatures and ghouls is wrong, but it’s the wasteland. People kill each other daily, surely we shouldn’t judge Lorenzo on that. We, the player kill people all the time in the game. Lorenzo, is relatively harmless to the commonwealth as a whole.
Here’s a question regarding the Cabot’s, are any of them involved in the great game? For those who don’t know, the great game is conflict between various high rank/high society Prewar individuals who survived the Great War, it is featured in FO3 points lookout DLC.
As a large reader with autism levels of research into the ocult and the silly goofy book boi lovecraft and his cat ( im not a official source) im just a autistic man but cabot put the "relic" on his head and it changed him not only on a mental level but physically too his dna would have to be changed (1/2%) off a normal human explaning his age and life span but what i cant explain is the live forever syrum
I stop here. The 1800s were a huge time for occult/archeology. Also, those stories didn't just come back. They're being used again. FO3/4 both just copy and paste w.e people are posting/is in the news. Those bodies aren't genetically different from humans. They're also not real. After the Mexican independence movement, charlatans arose. They claimed to have knowledge of the ancient Aztec's religion. This was made more popular, by the fact the Spanish brought Christianity, also because shorted indigenous looking Mexicans, were treated the way black folks were in America. Some places, they still are. Hence, a lot of migrants flee Mexico to get away from the taller(spaniard) looking for Mexicans. Being short and having a sloped forehead is a huge thing in Mexico and other parts of latin America. Do a little more research, before stating sources. Just because, someone may know what you're talking about, from before google messed with search results, lol. Miscarriages and viruses that no longer exist, explain away most of the BS. If aliens exist(they do), they're just humans, from another plane of existence, or a different spot in space. Hell, they're probably us in the future. All time exists on the same plane, and all life moves as one.
