Great lore video, you touched on a couple things other lore masters have over looked before. I'm pretty well versed on the Pitt ,just cause it's my favourite Fallout dlc. One thing though. And it's not just you who gets it a bit confused, incorrect. It's still just about every other lore master and Fallout Wiki. Ashur was not an initiate in the BOS. Firstly cause the squad that went into the Pitt were a squad of Lyons elite knights and Paladins called Lyons Pride. This included his daughter Sarah of course. All were some kind of combat specialists in Lyons Pride. From melee to minguns ,gatling lasers etc. The only thing that saved Ashur from the crumbling falling wall was his P.A. When found among the bricks and debris . A scavver woke him up,trying to steal his armour off him. He let her live, and she lead him to the Mill. Where he eventually took power to unify and lead the Pitt raiders. Just saying, no initiate is ever allowed to own, wear power armour in the BOS yeah?? Therefore Ashur was a knight at the very least 👍
The craziest part of the Pitt was asking Midia “let me guess, the area is surrounded by super mutants” but no one in Pittsburgh knows what a super mutant even is
You'd be bang on point there. Only the very toughest raiders survive the wastes and the Hole to climb the ranks into Ashur s Army. Ones with the strength and combat skills ,and brains to outwit their foes. And the brains to operate and function within a proper disciplined military force, that guards and helps to maintain the fortress that is the Pitt. Lets say they are the elite of the wastelands raiders.
Ashur's faction already has the brains and know-how to get the cure and raising a child without harm or danger, so I always side with Ashur because the latter is just "We may or may not figure it out somehow, some way, eventually."
Exactly right. Werner was just a sneaky, sleazy little con man. That managed to con Medea ,and potentially the player into believing he actually cares about the Pitt and its people. Whereas Ashur is no angel either. At least with him, what you see is what you get. And you found out he is actually genuine about curing the T.D.C and making the Pitt a truly livable and functional place to live. He literally proves this to the player. Having his baby daughter experimented on by his scientist wife should be proof enough he's for real about saving ,curing the people of the Pitt. Not giving up on that or trying to rebuild the Pitt in general is too I think. He and Sandra could just up and go to a safer less polluted location . A secure ,self contained bunker or whatever ,but they don't . They stay and try and make the best of it.
Definitely right. I loved the Pitt. It's the dlc that elevated my love for F3 to the next level. At least 76, managed to expand on its lore before Ashurs reign. But I think Ashur is the better leader and better option for the Pitt than the Fanatics. We don't know the canon ending or progress Ashur made after the F3 dlc. Ashur was a tough and smart survivor from the start. I hope he made good on his promises to the slaves and changed , shaped the Pitt for the better for its people .Making it the strong , functional and autonomous city state he promised. There's A TON of questlines, story potential I could think of with the Pitt. Without even getting close to messing with or breaking previous lore. It could easily be an epic stand alone chapter of Fallout ,if it was handled by good script ,story writers and devs. Like you say it has massive potential. I'd help the devs for free. Already wrote some fan fic that ties in seamlessly into the lore myself. I loved the dlc that much.
As far as Lyon's mission directive goes in the Pitt. Him and the Lyon's Pride weren't there to purge the mutated or less mutated inhabitants. Yes sure, they Lyons and his squad cut down hundreds. Only those that were stupid or crazy enough to attack the elite Brotherhood squad of elite knights and paladins. ( I checked out a few of rhe squad in Fallout Wiki. At least one was a melee expert with a war hammer. And I'd dare say they had at least one with a mini gun or Gatling laser when they entered the Pitt. Counting Lyons himself with his powerful custom LEAR rifle , Sarah, paladin Glade ( with the hammer) Ashur and at least one heavy weapons mingun or Gatling laser knight. That's at least 5 elite BOS knights, paladins in the squad there. The squad was said to be minimal. As the operation was more like an in and out mission during the night. The mission itself was to retrieve a piece of technology that there is no real information on. Other than it was highly sought after by Elder Lyons for whatever reason. It just happened that during the mission for the important piece of tech, Lyons and his squad managed to wipe out over half the wild man, raider and trog population in the Pitt in one night. Also he, they retrieved some healthy children that had managed to survive in the Pitt up til then. Children that became squires, initiates , and knights later on.
Yeah definitely agree F3 was a darker Fallout overall, from Paradise Falls to the Pitt. And the best Fallout game Bethesda made has to be F3 without a doubt. The Pitt was my favourite dlc in it. Not trying to say its the best Fallout dlc made, just my favourite imo. Though grim dark for a lot. Point Lookout to Pitt. It also had its light in the darkness , its beacons of hope in the form of James, Dr Li, project purity ( maybe even the BOS at that stage ? ) and the land of Oasis. Where the unique entity of Harold became a kind of " Father nature". Spreading his greenery, flora and roots around bringing new life and a kind of garden of Eden to the wastes.
I'm going to be honest the only issue I have with the Pitt DLC is the fact that knowing bethesda's writing they treat taking Marie and giving her to a bunch of uneducated people with zero science or medicine knowledge are for some reason equally capable of synthesizing a cure for the trogg disease as a genuine scientist which to me seems like just awful writing because Bethesda didn't want to make a second ending or at least a different ending. I wish you couldn't have both like if you side with Asher, the troglodyte disease gets cured, and if you don't, the slaves get freed, but they will still suffer from that inevitably all turn into troglodytes. It would have been much more interesting and would have given genuine Nuance to how much suffering should be allowed in order to save people from a plight. Of course, we can't have that, though this is bethesda's writing.
Well maxon carrys out elder lyons's mission to save people he just dose it in a differant way. He is a more militarized leader. Elder lyons was more compasionet as a leader elder maxion has the same goals to help people but dose so in are more bullrush and agreesive manor strikeing out at mutants and stuff. brotherhood has always had its racist elements even with lyons but they tolerate none ferals if only just cuzz they arnt insane. I meen i get they are people yeah but can u blame the brotherhood. they probably smell like well u know roting flesh. Smell has a way of disqusting people. I meen can u honistly say ud be happy if half ur town smelled like walking corpses.

I feel like a Raider that makes it to the ranks via the arena is way more tougher than you average tweaker raider that just joined the crew.
Who you calling a tweaker!?
*huffs jet*

The Pitt should've been it's own game like New Vegas was. It has a good story that could have benefited if it was longer and on a bigger map

Thanks, Chef. Yeah, rough place for sure.
Couldn't you eat Maria at some point?

Yes, you could. Anyone who says otherwise is dumb.
