WILDLIFE TAKES OVER THE WOODYARD #FIREWOOD
I haven't been processing firewood much at all this spring so wildlife has been taking over the woodyard. Rabbits, rats and groundhogs were seen throughout.

SQUIRREL'S NEST IN THE FIREWOOD TOTE!
Переглядів 209Місяць тому
First I went to scout out the boat launch at Scarborough Bluffs prior to getting the boat out. I stopped at the tree service yard and grabbed some linden/ basswood and spruce and then I picked up some mulberry and brought it back to the woodyard for cutting and splitting. I had to do a firewood delivery and while I was unloading an IBC tote into the truck, I found a squirrel's nest in the tote ...
ZERO CUTTING, ZERO SPLITTING #FIREWOOD

There is no firewood to split (except some smoker wood), but there was still a bunch to do. I tarped over some firewood before a big rain storm and then later uncovered everything to be put away. I stack a bunch of wood and loaded 25 firewood bags of smoker wood onto the truck to take back to my shop. Check out my other videos and like, subscribe, share, comment and get notifications. LABOUR DAY BASSFISHING TRIP 2023
Переглядів 943 місяці тому
My Labour Day bass fishing trip of 2023. This is my customary second trip up to my secret bass fishing lake. Overall, this season's fishing was really slow in terms of sizeable fish. I met up with Stan the Bass Man and of course he got the biggest fish. There is a big fireworks show to close of the season and up to 100 boats partake in the show on the water. I had to bag up the seasoned cherry in one of the crates in smoker city in order to store the cherry coins after I split them up. BASSFISHING TRIP AUG 2023
Переглядів 863 місяці тому
My summer bass fishing trip in the Lennox & Addington Highlands of Ontario, Canada during the Civic long weekend in Canada, which is the first weekend in August. I usually make theis trip on Canada Day weekend on July 1, but the cabins weren't available at that time. I arrived just as a bad weather system rolled in and I think that may have hurt the fishing prospects for smallmouth bass. I brou...
LOST FILE - EASY & IMPOSSIBLE ELM SPLITTING #FIREWOOD
Переглядів 4223 місяці тому
I found this video on an SD card and it is from Aug 13th of last year. I finally sorted out my issue with the chainsaw not cutting straight. The problem was that one of the files in my Stihl 2-in-2 sharpener was dull so one side of the teeth were getting reduced in size while the other side wasn't filing down and shrinking in size in unison with the other side. I had some American elm and Norwa...
TREE DOWN IN THE WOODYARD! #FIREWOOD
Переглядів 4073 місяці тому
I went to pick up some firewood at the local tree service company's woodyard and when I got back to the woodyard, a box elder (aka Manitoba maple) tree had fallen over into the yard so I grabbed my Stihl chainsaw and cut and removed the branches. After that, I cut and split the wood that I brought in, which was linden (aka basswood), pine, silver maple, black walnut and mulberry. I alos cut a c...

Good splitting there Anthony!! What do you do with the barrels? Make rain barrels for little old ladies?🤔
Thank you! You got it! Lots of Chinese want them too. I used to make the kits, now I just let them off as is and they have to figure it out. Lots go for floating docks at the cottage as well
Looks like you need some Canada Geese 🪿, I have plenty to spare.
They had a culling a few years back because the parks were getting crapped to death
👍👍
Very slow for wood, but getting a lot of easier work!
We have a red squirrel living in our shed. Damn thing is such a nuisance...
@jamesbainton ya theyre the real problematic ones apparently
Anthony might have to open a wildlife park plus firewood 🪵 yard . 😊 good weather for sale firewood 🪵 it stay very cold 🥶 at night .
Hey Leonard, I wonder if it's easier money than firewood! I don't sell much in summer, wish I did. It's always hot in the city and I think I'm to far south in the city to catch the customers heading up north for camping and cottaging
Hello Rat man😂 we deal with Nature constantly 👍🏼🪵🇺🇸
Hey Larry, there's a big fox that passes through. The woodyard is at the crest of a creek valley. Cheers!
#14👍🏼 Watching all the action! ❤ Nice to see you, Anthony. Give the little one a "HI" and a hug🎉💜
Hey, thanks. You too! Will extend the love to her and stop in to your page as well ❤️
Happen I ment to say😂
👍
Cool Anthony what else is haplen?😅
Busy at work and trying to enrich the little one with adventures. Hoping to come up soon but the July heat is a deterrent. I might have a day of boating in Muskoka next weekend and then I'll see for the weekend after. Any good catches?
Good one Anthony. Must not be busy in the wood business. ? Metal business good. ? Have a great day. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
Hey Noel, spring means that everything I do gets busy. Usually that means wood too, but the tree cutter hasn't been calling me much (except for unwanted American elm). I haven't had time to stop at the tree service yard to scoop some wood either. Trying to find another truck too but it's hard to find the right cab and chassis truck so I can swap my box onto it, one with the good LBZ duramax engine as well. Lots of metal, junk and branches/ wood removal too. I bought a couple valves for the splitters so I'll change one here at the shop and throw your sticker on and then swap it with the one in the woodyard
👍🏻
What do you do with the blue barrels ?
People need em for floating docks in our massive lakefront cottage market and rain water collection at houses in the city, planters for gardening. I've had event planners call for large numbers to hold their tents down, but no takers.
@@OntarioFirewoodResource Thanks

Hey Stanley, cheers
That's why I mix in little hardwood with my pine

Thank you, but bro... File in One direction .. slow, even strokes... Never back and forwards
@thechainsawbioethicist3878 thanks for the tip. Never really looked into hand filing techniques
Hi how are you I’m trying to use this method in Ireland but we have a lot of rain how would this system work
Hwy, I'm well thanks, and yourself? I'm part Irish actually, from those who fled the potato famine to Trinidad and Tobago. I've talked to some people who say that they put their wood indoors in the U.K. nota possibility for everyone, of course. A little ventilation and a fan improves on this. Not much luck with outside storage unless you can use a dehumidifier in your woodshed, mayne add a fan as well. Thanks for watching
Nice edit 😂
Haha, thank you!
Great video Anthony 👍 , Keep enjoying life!
Cheers! You too!
Thanks, that's helpful
No problem. Most people fire off a couple lines that they heard instead of really dabbling into the subject, lacking the elaborate knowledge behind the subject, but that is a common practice these days
I always find it hilarious how Canadians love Canada so much, but the rest of the world knows how soft & scared Canada is as a whole 😂 they’re really just yes men
This is true...and they let in a bunch of people from elsewhere in the country that are not strong minded physically or mentally, who would be useless if invaders show up at our doorstep. It's really sad. Some see that it is going to shit at least
@@OntarioFirewoodResource AGREED! America isn’t much better right now either tho. And Canada is a beautiful place (& im very grateful for hockey) but it is sad how poorly the economy is set up. I know a lot of people who are getting really sick of the downfall of Canada, as well as America.
@YoungLoott yes people are either moving to conservative areas or leaving the country. Very sad considering our leader's privilege of enjoying the country as the son of a former leader and handing it over to outside powers. I am very aware of what's going on.
nice load locust
Thank you, I get a lot of this stuff here in Toromto
I have a fast way to dry my firewood because the room that my wood stove is in, is large enough to store an entire winter's supply of firewood. Actually there is wood left over after 1 year... What I do is stack 1/2 of the wood one one side of the wood stove and the other half on the other side... Then I start using the side that has the driest wood... After that entire side is burnt: the other side that was wet is completely dried out... In effect I use the wood stove as a kiln... Another benefit to this method is that my house is naturally humidified by the moisture evaporating from the firewood.
Nice setup. Almost no one can boast aboit happening their entire wood supply stored indoors. Although indoots lacks significant air circulation, the constant dryer air helps the wood to season.
Glad you have been busy, Anthony😉👍
Always busy essentially, but a lot easier lately!
Glad to see you’re back to making videos Anthony, tell JT (#TheSoyBoy) I said hi 👋. Mike calls squirrels 🐿️ “$uicide Jockey’s”. That lady “Take All Of It!”, cracks me up the all or nothing people, if I’m removing for free (just for the wood) I’m going to cherry pick it, they’ll have to pay me if they want the trash removed. I sold all of my Apple last week
The mother will come back for them.
They fit right in with the trash pandas Whatever I want is whatever I take at random pickups. That kind of honour only goes to the tree cutters. Despite JT, works been great, high copper but low steel prices. Lots of copper at least
Been a while Anthony I have no more room to collect firewood lots on MarketPlace hope u make more videos!
Hey man. I'm often too busy to scout out more wood. Lots of crap comes down so it takes some diligence to get the good stuff
Anthonyyy😍🎉 So good to see you! I hope all is well. Tell the little sweetheart I said "hello 🌺" 😻 Watching... Hugs💘
Hey thank you. You too. Been bustling on the day job. I will and I hope you're well. Hugs ❤️
Yeah Anthony's back missed your content, now all is right in the universe
Lol. Cheers man
I'd take it all. It all burns 😊
Lol. Still not one hit on my 6 cord boiler wood ad. Gonna talk to the owner of the smokehouse across from the woodyard. Not all would be good for him, but I guess either way, whatever won't sell will be backup after everything else sells in the fall
I was just thinking this morning that I had not seen a video In a while, and then there you are. 🤭 Have a great day. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋🇨🇦
Lol. Been busy doing everything but. Gotta put your sticker on, gotta a deal on two splitter valves at princess China, so I'll replace the first and salp the sticker on, then I'll swap that machine to the woodyard and bring the other one back to shop to change the valve.thanks, you too
Good to see from you.
Thanks man. Still low on the wood front. Was gonna go to the tree service today, but I have some copper to pick up 😁
Good Morning! Thanks for the video - good to see you.
Hey, thanks, its been 2 months less a day since the last video. All my other work gets busy in the spring, but I've hardly had any calls about wood pickups and even within those, ive had to turn some down becauae of the species offered.
Cavitation??
Is when air bubbles that develop in the oil create shockwaves from the difference in pressure and damage the interior of the hydraulics system. Thanks for watching

Wellness check.
Hey man, not much going on with wood, been doing everything but for the most part. Speaking of wellness, I burnt out yesterday and had my first nosebleed ever (I think dust from a hoarder clean out and interlock work dried out my nose) so I've been resting. I'm heading out to do a smoker wood delivery to the smokehouse and when I get back, I guess I'll finish editing the first of only three videos that I've made in the last two months, then back on the grind tomorrow. I have to start getting more wood, especially oak and sugar maple because I'm running low
I use veg/canola oil too in the bar tank. But first, it gets used in the home fryer to make cake donuts 🙂. I read in the comments about the Lucas product being used as a way to sticky the oil. Might try that. A jug of aftermarket bar oil ("April" brand name) is most common in NS. About $18 a jug. Veg/canola oil is about $9-$12. So it's an easy decision.
Ya the price of veggie oil has jumped since I made this video. Many have made the comment about it not being tacky enough, but I don't see any premature bar wear.
My shaft wiper seal is leaking again. Three years old and used little. $8 a quart. Thanks Joe Biden.
I've never had a ram seal go and I have had two of these machines since 2014 FJB!
Good tip. Or just keep your jug of oil in the house - there, I fixed it. :D Appreciate the share, OFR!
I found a couple jugs outside recently and I brpught them to the woodyard and I'm guessing a fox bit them open and started drinking it.
Well, it's crazy cuz today's veg oil is basically soybean oil, some canola, but they're not vegetables. LoL
@@d.j.scribe7584 I'm not surprised 🤣
Pine is fine if seasoned.
Yes the only reason not to burn it is because too much is needed
Cheers for video 👌👌

Chain is to loose guy
Thanks, I made this video in haste on a cold day when I started the channel so it was rushed.
@OntarioFirewoodResource just be safe guy try not to rush with chainsaw n shit. That's when accident happened.
@@austinsocci7773 fair enough!
I can assure you this method is going to out you on disability pay from the goverment due to lower back issues. Look up Skidder Kev's way of doing it.
If that blade was double sided, and the piston was below the deck, and it pushed the blade instead of the wood...
The blades are angled up so that the opening is only narrow at the first 1/16 inch so that the wood can squeeze through. If the ram is pulling on the return end of the cycle the two pieces close the the ram on each side would jam up on the ram's shaft.
Ok. How about if the top blade was wider, preventing the top wood from falling onto the split wood. And the ram had a bar (like mouse trap) that pulls the un-split log back to start, while you clear the firewood? Sorry if this is stupid, but I love your splitter.
@footLogic thanks, i invite opinions, sometimes they point out things that ibwont get. It's like a boardroom with tram members adding input. I've been thinking about a redesign, but its very reliable and I also thought about putting the ram on top and having it work one way. If I upgrade the pump, I would have to reinforce the frame as well because torques and makes the wood lean on an angle so it jams up with tough wood
Hey Anthony, you haven't posted in a while, hope All is well 😊
Hey man. I only have one video to post. Usually I have an hour of footage per video but this time it was over an hour and a half so the length gets intimidating to go through. Part of it was a nest with squirrel babies while emptying a crate so that threw things off. Outside of that, work has gotten busy with spring and I've been working til 12 am. Just finished work today and inhave to go in tomorrow evening to prep the scrap metal for dropping off early Monday to free up the truck to take away a load of branches for the tree cutters. I have almost no wood as well, just turned down some American elm because it's too tough to split, bit I gotta finish up what's there and bag and split more smoker wood. I might be working on the next vid tonight for the mornong as Sunday is a big day for viewership. Have a good weekend
@@OntarioFirewoodResource Anthony thank you for your response, I'm very happy your just extremely busy, and not dealing with any major problems, just miss your posts, you are literally one of a few content creators I follow who dose firewood, and like I said just miss hanging out with you so to speak, one wood hound to another, and I get not wanting to deal with Satan wood 😉
No problem, I appreciate you enjoying the videos. It's hard to compete for views with a small operation like mine plus all the Americans who have always had an easier economy than ours and are able to throw money at machines and create a spectacle. Speaking of problems, my tranny is slipping in the wood hauler. Maybe I can get away with taking my two trannys and making one with the parts (im experiencing slipping and the other tranny's reverse is blown) but really I'm looking for a truck that's hard to find...a 2000 to 2010 duramax 3500 with reg cab, same wheelbase so I can swap the dumpbox/ tailgate onto in. Can't find another truck with dumpbox and tailgate and the trucks have been going to the US for years because of the dollar difference
dude thats acer x freemanii. a hybrid of rubrum and saccharinum
Oh shoot! I didn't know there were hybrids of sugar and silver. I've seen silver hybrids where their leaves have long middle sections
What about letting the wood soak in burnt oil? Oil and water don't mix.
You don't want the wood smelling like oil when it's bur.ing though
