- I picked up a load of firewood from the tree service company and brought it back to the woodyard and cut and split all of it.

No such thing as free tree service wood around here. When trees get dropped in the nearby town, the wood disappears.
Despite being in a big city, with a tiny amount of fireplace, backyard or camping burners, the tree cutters get rid of the wood pretty easily, despite there being a lof of volume on top of that. I don't know how they do it, sure a few people receive it (more so out of towners) or pick it up, but they don't want to pay to dump it either. I still don't get it after all these years

I was frantic trying get as much wood ready for next year. Just loose filling and semi dry wood will go into a few more crates and in spring, I'll start 2025 season wood
