    Males need to note that the cook( usually a female) put COMPLEATE MEALS TOGETHER They dont pull out meat for a week and stack it together. They pull out 1 protein a vegetable or two a fruit, dairy and a bread starch( like noodles) and everything is together so their is no hunting for items. Also snacks aregrouped together with what their used with the peanut butter and jelly needs a box of crackers or a shelf stable bread, ( a box mix would do) also a random shelf of canned vegetables is a little odd unless its all the same thing. Most families will have a single vegetable served with specifically meal. Like green beans is always served with spaghetti. Using more single serving foods is more useful in a power outage. And you showed nothing on ways to cook the food. Canned goods can be heat and serve. ALL BREAKFAST YOU SHOWED REQUIRE COOKING. ( dollar general has sausage gravey in a can. Can be eaten cold and yummy) i like salmon in small cans boneless and skinless. Can be eaten cold. If your not gonna show an easy method of cooking in a power out WHY ARE YOU SHOWING FOOD THAT REQUIRES COOKING . Dry beans and rice require cooking. ( Smaller beans like lentils, black eye peas take less time and water to cook than pintos or chic peas)and in emergency canned beans are better even if more expensive. No cooking required only a can opener and a spoon. Im in public housing and in the last 15 years my power goes out regularly.

      I love that you have thought things through for your situation. That's important. This was a video on starting a pantry. Not a blackout cook kit. Look around my channel, and you will find videos on cooking from the pantry. Every SHTF event doesn't mean no electricity or water, but we prep for those. I try to show options. If someone prefers green beans with pasta, they can store those. I wouldn't assume that 'most' people prefer a particular meal plan over another. Just as I wouldn't assume the female does the cooking. My idea of a working pantry doesn't assume there's no electricity, water, or gas, and it doesn't group everything into ready to eat meals. We rotate these pantry items into our daily lives and have built it up as we went. Today, we have well over a year's supply of food. But you do what works best for you. There's no one solution for all. The important thing is that you're planning for potential emergencies.

    I have never dry canned before, but I've done some food preservation (i.e. pressure cooking). Thanks for uploading the video. Watching through this though, I'm curious as to how you manage the risk with regards to Clostridium spores which thrive in anaerobic non-acidic environments. Usually in non-acidic liquid canning if you see bubbles its a sure sign to boil it for at least 20 minutes (to break down the toxin), or throw it out depending on contents, but you don't have that kind of warning with dry canning. As far as I'm aware, all foods contain pocket moisture, which is not necessarily driven off using a vacuum sealer, and since the toxin and spore in question is both tasteless and odorless it presents a hazard to most preservation techniques outside of only a few that have been proven to kill it (annoyingly so). This mostly seems to be why the USDA considers the practice unsafe generally, but we also know how a lot of standards pushed may or may not be backed by science and research (such as California benzene levels for household exposure, which have no scientific reference), but this particular area does seems to be backed so I'm curious if you take any additional steps in your dry canning process to mitigate these risks.

    You carry a gun but no tourniquet? If you make holes expect to receive holes. You will bleed in less then 3 min from a severed artery. It can take an ambulance over 15 min to come depending on how far you are from an emergency services. By the time you are dead, the emergency services would still be on their way. I’ve always said, you should not carry a gun if you do not carry a TK and trauma kit and be trained in TCCC. Get a trauma kit and get the training.

    • @NextStepSurvival
      @NextStepSurvival 6 місяців тому

      Funny how the tourniquet is becoming the topic of choice for a get-home pack. If you watch my EDC pack video, you'll see I carry a tourniquet daily. In this case, a walk home when everything is shut down due to a severe SHTF event, my focus is to get home. Considering we're talking about the unlikely situation where cars are not even running, how effective will a tourniquet be? If there won't be an ambulance coming, how far is that tourniquet going to get me? It's just a comment I made in the video. I also said I would grab my med kit from my EDC pack if needed. If I was walking home for anything short of an EMP, I'd have my trauma kit, including a tourniquet. Although, if cars are running, I'd like to think I'm resourceful enough to get a ride home. My thoughts anyway.

We avoid keeping anything opened or unsealed in there. Once something gets opened, it stays in the kitchen. No fruits or vegetables unless they are canned or sealed for longer-term storage. I'm not even sure what a pantry moth is and hope to never find out.

    In an emergency situation you are going to want those carbs. This is a beautiful well stocked and orderly prepper room and I’m very impressed. My only concern is you have announced who you are and shown what you have. I do understand you saying you enjoy rotating and organizing your stock. I find it very satisfying and comforting to know there is food around me. I am not even close to what you have but it will get us by for awhile and I’m always working on it. My biggest problem is protein, water, and space. Once my daughter moves out I’m converting her closet into food storage. My husband thought I was crazy and paranoid pre- Covid then asked if we were ok during the shortages now he’s back to I’m crazy but I don’t hear paranoid any longer. He only occasionally grips about it as he thinks it’s a waste of our money. I call it insurance. I grew up food insecure and I guess that I need that sense of security. My daughter bought me two water straws for my birthday two years ago. The relatives asked what they were and their use. I explained as simply as I could as I had on numerous occasions tried to warn them about food shortages but was ignored. I got some weird looks and my husband said sarcastically “oh good well at least we can drink mud water.” I smiled and told him “no, our daughter and I will drink clean water and he’s going thirsty.” Everyone thought that was hilarious. I just gave our daughter a secret smile. She gets it.

      Thanks, I've had similar conversations with friends and family. We had food insecurity as kids too so maybe that's a common factor. I've never really thought about it. Now I'm curious about other preppers.

      Thank you and good question. I have a bin full of games and school supplies for my grandkids. It's time to resupply the school supplies since we just handed much of it out for this school year. By the way, for anyone else on a budget, you can pick up games very cheap from the dollar store. They're not the best quality and won't last much longer than a short-term power outage but they are handy when you need them.

    Ok, some people say I'm crazy but think about it... What if, what if we took all the Bud Light nobody wants and then round up the most alcoholic homeless guys you can find, set them up in tents and have on-call drinking stations where they just stand and drink and wait then if there's a fire they pee the fire out. Pure fuckin genius! It's eco friendly because it upcycles the old beer, gives homeless jobs and free beer, helps protect the community and really speaks to what transgender America is all about. So let us help others help you so transgender people can work hard with marginalized people to piss on America and save it from racism, all the phobias and global warming. Now I've gone over this with Bill Nye the Science Guy and he agrees that the effort would be carbon neutral and when the homeless die from alcohol poisoning their bodies can be recycled into Soilent Green so those in need can have the nutrition they need to live a "dignified" existence based on "equality" and nothing is more equal than blending up the dead and not letting their valuable calories go to waste. We are what we eat so bon appetit.

    5 gallons of hand sanitizer????? Why??

    • @NextStepSurvival
      @NextStepSurvival Рік тому

      Well, why not? LOL Actually, I'm friends with the owner of a company that started making hand sanitizer to continue operating during Michigan's draconian covid shutdown, and it was given to me. In fact, later, he gave me a 55-gal drum of it for my employer. They sat it out, and anyone that wanted to refill their bottles was free to do so. I donated most of that hand sanitizer.

      @@NextStepSurvival You had me at "draconian", my bad. If this product kept people working, I guess it's aok with me. Very thoughtful of you to donate most of it. I have to check myself sometimes. I associate all of the ppe with the over reactionary stance that most of the country took during that nightmare called the China Virus. I pray NEVER AGAIN.

    Something not in the video but is in the article, I used 2 fire extinguishers before the fire dept showed up. I had 2 more ready but did not want to use them unless it was a last ditch effort. I didnt want to be helpless until fire dept got there. Later found out I put fire out but you never know.

      Your experience made me want to upgrade my smaller fire extinguishers. They're not cheap. I found a 5 lb. commercial ABC, at Home Depot for $80 and a double pack 4 lb. ABC for $90.
