The pot support that goes on top can also be used to support the firebase off of the surface you set it on. That way there is les heat on the surface, and it is a bit wider so there may be some stabilization.
Let me give you a couple quotes from the instructions on their website. www.kellykettleusa.com/how-to-use-the-kelly-kettle "Place the green Kelly Kettle whistle GENTLY into the water spout of your kettle. Ensure the arrow is pointed down toward the ground as this will direct any escaping steam safely downward. DO NOT press the whistle into the spout as we want to easily remove the whistle when the water has boiled." There is this warning on older models that don't have the whistle "Never use the kettle with the Orange Stopper or Cork inserted (older models) as boiling the kettle with ANY obstruction in the water spout can result in a serious burn for the user or others in proximity. The steam must be allowed to vent from the boiling kettle." So the new model, which I have and said in the video, comes with a green whistle spout cap that is designed to safely vent while boiling water.

Read your instructions again it instructions state to remove cap when boiling water, the lid double as a frying pan
