3V Gear Paratus 3 Day Operator's Pack Review and Gear Dump

I loaded up my 3V Gear Paratus 3 Day Operator's Pack for a little weekend adventure and thought I'd record a quick review for you. Today I have the Paratus backpack stuffed full for a multi-day Michigan winter hike. I've owned this pack for two years now and have used it on many hikes and overnight hammock camping trips. I got that pack but haven’t used it yet, I’m putting shrink tubes on all the cords for the zippers, and on the spots where they stoped the stitch and started there is a little fraying so I’m supergluing it in those spots then melting otter wax fabric dressing and brushing it on the pack for extra waterproofing , I’m 6’2 and a 170 pounds and it just fits me but the belt is all the way loosened and I found it will easily pull out from the back loop thingy so I left about 4” or so and looped it back through the other slot and now I can yank and pull hard on it and it won’t come loose and undone on me..I can’t wait to Take it hiking and do an overnight er with it...I have been upgrading my gear to fit this pack also, I think that makes a big difference....well good review you did on it , I enjoyed it

Nice, it sounds like you know how to maintain and repair your gear. That's actually a valuable skill we don't hear a lot about. It's certainly not my best pack but for the price it's tough to beat.

I have this and it's amazing. I love the space, material it's made from, looks cool. The flag it comes with is cool. Everything on it feels and is strong. I have the OD green. It's not even that heavy with all my 3 day survival gear in it. Highly recommend!

3V lists this pack volume at 40L. You just pulled more gear out of the main compartment than we can fit into a 48L LAPG Operator. I'm not sure either of these packs are rated correctly. I'm inclined to think that the 3V is larger than they claim. Thanks for showing your gear dump.

VertigoTX Thanks, I agree with that. I have a 110 L Kelty Redcloud and while I love the pack, there's no way it's 110 liters.

I've read several articles that talk about the inconsistencies in the way pack makers measure/rate their pack volumes. I may give 3V a call on Monday to talk about it. While I know we are not assembling an ultralight kit, I believe we ought to be able to find a pack that will work without going the full blown "backpacking" route. Maybe I'm expecting too much?

Although I'm new to finding out about this pack, it's been out for a few years now and I'm finding out that it's hard to find and always seems to be out of stock, weather it's Amazon or the 3v site, certain colors like black seem to be impossible to find. I'm actually finding this with a lot of different items watching these types of videos,that items are listed as out of stock, or sold out.

Yeah, that's frustrating. Hopefully most of that gets better when the pandemic is past. Other than that I have no idea what the problem might be.

That's a pretty nice pack I actually use a bigger bag but this is perfect for my 11 year old son and my wife. 3v has some decent gear
