    Around 9:45 in the video. So the catacolamines constricting blood vessels and liver creating glucose via gluconeogenesis essentially is the mechanism to raise blood pressure in the absence of sufficient sodium to prepare for fight or flight, right?

    • @iaminkaland
      @iaminkaland 3 дні тому

      Yes, that's correct. Catecholamines raise blood pressure by constricting blood vessels and increasing glucose production in the liver, compensating for low sodium and preparing the body for fight or flight.

    Your explanation is so helpful to understand the actions of these transmitters. Would you help me find more information about 5-HT2A -2C receptor distribution in the mesolimbic and VMPFC, DLPFC, and Insula-amygdala pathways? And can you tell me the easiest source (<span;>illustrated<span;> books, videos, or your simple explanation, then it would be so beautiful !!) to know more about the different pathways of every neurotransmitter or modulator and its functions in depth? Finally, I am from India and have a background in the good old way of teaching mukhaa-mukha patana, i.e., face-to-face teaching and learning, in Ayurveda. And I am learning about the new thought processes of consciousness, i.e., neuroscience, neuropsychology, and other disciplines. Both of us have a common topic: yoga (yogam), especially the Paatanjala school of yoga. I hope you can feel the warmth and happiness that I am having because of this "eureka moment." 122 million people over the age of 20 have high blood pressure in USA. Please eat more salt to increase that number further.

  • @ekaterinaponizovskayadevin2812

    Don't we have sodium in literally everything? Even when you buy chicken breast or wings in the store they are injected with sodium already. Sodium cause retaining fluids and the majority of population, especially elderly people, already have inflammation problems. Indeed we need sodium but my point is that we already taking it too much. We don't need to care about adding it to the food.

    • @iaminkaland
      @iaminkaland 20 днів тому

      This might be a case in the US. Here in Europe meat is just meat. They don't add anything to local meat products. I think in the US you could go around the issue with buyig non-processed high-quality meat and add your own high-quality salt at proper amounts.

    • @ekaterinaponizovskayadevin2812
      @ekaterinaponizovskayadevin2812 18 днів тому

      @@iaminkaland I don't think it is different in Europe. I lived there for a while, and I have seen more processed food than in the US. Sometimes extra salt in the food is a total surprise. I love chicken wings and I baked them myself buying wings that were not supposed to be processed. I noticed that even if I don't add any salt, they are still enough salty. I looked info about the product and found out they were injected with salt water. It is not a big deal, they are fine, just don't need any salt added. I can't see how we can have salt deficient. I agree with the doctor that it also would be bad to have salt deficiency. But we do buy some processed food from time to time. We eat cheese, yogurts, etc. that often have salt. Still, I guess the message is that, yes, we need salt and we shouldn't be too persistent in eliminating it completely :) I agree with that.

      Depends on why you should be low salt... If you have medical issues, then it's always a good idea to consult a functional medicine doctor who understands a bit about the real importance of salt-general practitioners are legally obligated to follow government recommendations, but as James DiNic demonstrated, the data is slightly outdated and might not be accurate. James suggests in this episode that 4 g per day of sodium is OK for someone without health conditions and a healthy lifestyle. But this is very individual and has many layers to it, so it's hard to give any specific opinion on your comment. Hope it helps !

    I have seen all the interviews with James Dinicolantonio because I find the topics he talks about and also the subject of salt very interesting and this one was undoubtedly the best. You have been the person who has asked him the most variety of questions, you have squeezed him to the fullest, it shows that you also have a lot of knowledge, good job.

      I agree. This is worth viewing more than once because there is so much information compressed into 33 minutes.

    18:42 thank you so much for this, I've been having water retention in my face / eye bags since November bc of low carb diet 30-50 grams max and my electrolytes are completely out of whack, I increased potassium and magnesium, thought I should keep sodium to minimum, but apparently my sodium intake is too low then

      It's quite the balancing act with low-carb, isn't it? Tweaking one thing can send something else into a spin. Good on you for adjusting potassium & Mg. Sodium's a bit tricky; too little can def throw things off as much as too much. Sounds like you're on the right track now by tweaking it. Let me know how it goes.

    Thank you,but I find serotonin excess more difficult to understand.......ie why does such the excess cause this anxiety producing syndrome.

    • @iaminkaland
      @iaminkaland 20 днів тому

      It's probably to do with the overstimulation of the receptor which disrupts the functioning of the stress circuits that causes these symptoms. Serotonin modulates almost all organs too so it's probably a complex interaction between the autonomic nervous system and the basic functioning of organs. I'd assume - haven't looked into the research yet.

    Tried it. If it’s doing anything positive, I haven’t noticed it. Conversely, if it’s doing anything negative besides costing me money, I haven’t noticed that either.
