Meet asensei
Introducing a new connected coaching app that lets world class coaches guide and monitor your practice on a Concept 2 rowing machine.
More than a rowing workout, this is a series of lessons - build strength and fitness alongside skill and technique as you are guided, monitored and corrected through these programs by your very own personal coach, asensei.
asensei talks to the performance monitors on your Concept 2 rowing machine. She reads force curves. She analyzes your performance and uses that to inform your practice. To inform the intent of your practice. Losing power at higher stroke rates? Losing length when tired? Rushing the recovery? Compensating for poor leg drive with over-use of your arms?
asensei knows. And she’ll be sure to let you know.
Practice. Perfected.

4 x 8 min / 20s rest
Переглядів 14 тис.4 роки тому
4 x 8 mins, short rest so more of a continuous erg but with a small break for mental focus. 1- 8 @ 20 2- 4/4 @ 20/22 3- 8 @ 22 4- 2/2/2/2 @ 20/22/24/26 Hold rhythm and keep the flow.
Do you use the Concept2 Dynamic??? Why not??

3 x 12 minute / 60s Rest
Переглядів 9 тис.4 роки тому
3 x 12 min sets 1: 12 @ 20 2: 4/4/4 @ 20/22/24 3: 3/3/3/3 @ 20/22/24/26 Nice solid training intensity looking to increase the rate and split but make sure you stay relaxed and keep the HR under control
4x 10 / 30s Rest
Переглядів 4,4 тис.4 роки тому
Four 10 minute pieces. 1- 10 @ 20 2- 5/5 @ 20/22 3- 10 @ 22 4- 3/3/3/1 @ 20/22/24/26 Nice solid workout. Push the splits and look for solid intensity and numbers. Nail it!!! Eric
2 x 20mins /60s Rest
Переглядів 4,5 тис.5 років тому
2 sets of 20mins First set - split into 5min segments. 5/5/5/5 @ 20/22/20/22. Good way to feel a little more acceleration then bring it back and re-focus etc. Second set- 2 minute changes, 22/(26/28) so first 2 ups at 26, then last 3 to 28. So this gives a good feeling of higher speed, then you have to come back down and try to hold speed and rhythm etc. Keep a good focus and follow what I have...

Eric, serious question mate. My wife used to row, had throat cancer, now breathes thru a stoma in her neck. Used to use the erg but. Ow she finds that it puts strain on her neck and a tube that allows her to eat/ drink. With the dynamic erg and the different feel technique and feel … might this be a realistic and viable alternative given the way it’s used? Thx in advance

How is Eric supposed to know about what’ll work for your wife? Ask your doctor + try it and return it if it doesn’t work well.

100% chug along at 24 strokes then open up to a thirty whatever and don’t power it , see where your time goes to , works for me Feel the weight go over the toes let the torso hinge over and then back glide through

The question is if one is using the SkiErg for fitness training, or Nordic ski training. Jane’s technique is fitness. Concept2 presents it as a Nordic trainer. And they emphasize it is a trainer, not a simulator. ua-cam.com/video/AVLE3Od5hOQ/v-deo.htmlsi=EhEsGSD4kTFrflKA

bad technique and the machine is designed for skiers, so the movement of the hands at the bottom should be circling the hips and not into the ground at knee level

I know you've gone down a slightly different path since these early vids but they are still some of my favourites dare I say over some of the Asensei vids. I must do this one (in its various versions) at least once every couple of weeks. Thanks Eric - it is always rewarding in its own rather sneaky way! 😁

Great video, thanks for your review Eric. One question I have is for beginning rowers (such as myself) who are looking to build technique but also use the rower as a form of exercise more so than to get on the water, will this dynamic rower be better than the stationary one? I really appreciate any input you can provide.

Separating out the specific parts and tools for each of the seven step assembly process steps was brilliant on the part of the manufacturer. For the price, I am impressed at how sturdy this ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxvObaTzoHoHQLL4lHbJQmExHqsrZQm-f7 unit is and it does go together easily. Well, I was puzzled at first at Step 5 and maybe the instructions should mention that rail #62 needs to be tilted upwards a little to get the rail to fit into the main part #44. I like it that the rower can be stored vertically in a really small amount of space, but be forewarned that this rower is top heavy and for safety you'll need at least two bungee cords to keep the unit upright, attaching them to something; in my case to a third garage door. I have had this unit only a short time, and I will post an update once I've had it for a year. As for working your legs, I have to admit that I'm mainly rowing for upper body strength and I use other forms of exercise for leg strength (like walking fast, biking, or using a trampoline. But if you pull as far forward as possible, then you can give preference to your legs for the first 4 feet or so of travel. I also admit to not taking the two electronic connectors apart at Step 7. I simply inserted the two batteries while the other parts remained connected. By the way, there is plenty of resistance here, even in the lowest resistance settings. Kudos to Sunny Health & Fitness !

That's awesome! I've just started rowing in leu of threshold and tempo running, I get too injured too easily, can run long and slow no worries however. Anyway, I did this today, blew date, it was a good session, had the c2 on 6, and was hitting 1.45 on average, but crept up to 1.51 on the second to last rep. My strokes were averaging 27. The only thing is my Garmin watch said I was only getting aerobic benefits from it. Not sure what that's all about.. Good stuff guys. Especially from Kiwi's, myself being on too!

Hi Éric, Many thanks for your explanations and your feeling descriptions. I’ve got a Dynamic 4 Year ago. I much appreciate the flow in riding this machine, but what I’ve found hard to feel and to find, in comparison with a classic ergo, is when aiming to apply more power. With a Classic ergo, it’s easy to feel by the resistance of the wheel through the handle at catch. Would you say this feeling on a Classic is overplaid regarding rowing on a boat and so, useless ? Thanks in advance for your response and one more time :´ chapeau for your unrivalled rowing career ! ´

Many thanks for the videos, they are great I am thinking about one of these, I am new to this, having been a keen marathon kayaker in the past, now 53 and trying to keep things going. If its so great, why it is not featured in any of your other videos? I do have issues and am definietely looking for a comfortable machine, if it puts less 'strain' on me, thats good. We have a local gig club, but don't ever expect to row on the water in a sliding seat boat.
