Eric, hi, I have been enjoying your videos on UA-cam and Reward (Asensei) since last September when I started my indoor rowing adventure. You are an inspiration for me. Thank you very much. I’d like to ask you how Reward calculates the speeds that it gives as targets. Yesterday I did “Amsterdam” practice 2 x 15min (1 min rest) with base rate 20 spams on the first set and 22 spin on the second with a rate increase on 5, 10 and 15 min to 24/26/28 and 26/28/30 respectively). In what heart rate zone should that practice be done? I tried to make my targets set by Reward and I was rowing in zone 5, 21 min out of 30 min. Is it the idea or my targets are too high? one comment: I find that your videos on UA-cam are much more educational and I pick up more trips about rowing technic compare to Re-ward videos when I see your recorded back. Any chance to change Reward videos and make them more like you post videos on UA-cam? Thank you.
Hello Stogornyuk, I happened to see your comment and since Eric hasn’t replied I thought I’d chime in. I’m a 2-time Olympic gold medalist from the United States. I don’t know much about Asensei and how Reward calculates splits, but from what you’ve said it sounds like they are too hard to start with. If I do 2x15min I aim to have most of it in heart rate zone 4 and finish the last few minutes of each piece in zone 5. I find that it’s better to start a workout more conservatively and increase speed throughout so that the second 15min is faster than the first. I will be uploading some of my own erg videos in the next few days if you want to check them out!
@@carynpdavies Caryn, hi, Thank you for taking time to answer my question. It is very much appreciated. I’ll be on lookout for your youtube videos. If you have some more time maybe you can advise how to structure my training program and how long should one spend on Concept 2 to improve 2K result. I’m 51 year old and started training on Concept 2 since last September. I participated in indoor rowing competition in September and would like to improve it by 4-5 sec. ( I did 6.24.5) I train 6-7 time a week. I do about 12-15 km a training. Should I train at all in zone 3 on Concept 2 and how often and how often should I be training in zone 4-5? Thank you, Andrey
