Could you shorten your Main Battle Intros? They are far too long, imo. Maybe to 5 seconds? When watching activity, I only feel the need to fast forward once to finally see the battle.

Brock was the biggest wall in which even a perfect Mew, couldn't overcome in terms of time. That's how much significant Brock is in gen 1 in particular.😊 Another factor for that equation would be ,pound as starting move insead of Mewtwo's stab psychic. I'm not sure how different it would have been if Mew would have received the stab bonus from it, because after all it's going to do half of the damage it could have done to Brock's Onix. I wonder how a run with in which you xan only attack with mimic would be like.🤔

Perfect Stats Poliwrath might be one the best to use because of it's starting moveset.

I noticed one mistake in the overlay: Rival 6 (before the league) was labelled as Giovanni 3.

Blastoise would be a candidate to beat mewtwo in this format. He’s got the medium/slow growth rate, will have a nasty Brock split, and STAB bubblebeam after defeating Misty

Still though, what an absolute unit that exeggutor is. Casually tanking max stats mew. Dude, no wonder he is an OU staple.

Watching over the footage again I honestly think Body Slam could be skipped. You only used the move 3 times before you got Earthquake, and one of those uses (against S.S. Anne rival Eevee) probably didn't even matter. With Mega Punch have 85 accuracy, I think using it twice is worth the risk when counting it against the time you spend with the additional battle and TM. Also it would actually keep Mew at minimum battles and save you a TM usage giving it a better score (not that it really matters for this kind of run).

This was a lot more interesting than I expected it to be. I really thought 255 attack would carry Poison Sting a lot harder than it ended up doing. And it still carried pretty hard, I just didn't expect this many roadblocks. Part of me wonders if perfect DVs would have bridged some of the gaps here. I'm thinking yeah, probably, as most of the time all you needed was a few more numbers to make the impossible possible. Move base power matters, way more than I thought it did.

mew famously has the genes of all pokemon and can learn all moves. so i dont see why it should start with pound only. doesnt really make sense tbh

Now I've started thinking about how it would go if you modded a future gen pokemon and some of its moves if needed into gen 1, how that would go. Dark, Steel, and Fairy types might be out of the question, idk how much gen 1 modding support exists, but still.

Make a run with Pokemon which movepool is every gen 1 move, all 165 moves

I've seen people mention the perfect custom-made Pokemon. If you ever want to do such a run, I'd suggest a Pokemon like this: Type: Ice / Ground Growth rate: Medium Slow Starting moveset: Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Earthquake, Drill Peck No Lv-Up moves, no TM moves. The reason for picking Drill Peck is that it has much more PP than any other useful move, and is adequate any time you'd use the move, with the sole potential exception being Bruno's Machamp, but there's no need to comprise the rest of the run for 1 OHKO, especially with a 50% crit rate. With this moveset, you'll have perfect coverage for any trainer, as well as enough PP to not need to use an Elixer when fighting the Elite 4. Gym 1 & 4: Ice Beam Gym 2: Thunderbolt Gym 3, 6, 7 & 8: Earthquake (maybe Ice Beam for Rhydon) Gym 5: Drill Peck Lorelei: Thunderbolt and Earthquake Bruno: Ice Beam and Drill Peck Agatha: Earthquake and Thunderbolt Lance: Thunderbolt and Ice Beam Champion: Ice Beam, Earthquake and Thunderbolt This should OHKO pretty much every Pokemon, without the need to get any items other than Elixers, and if you made it so the Pokemon has max PP from the start, you might not even need those.

That depends on WHAT moves you have it learn sinc it would be too easy.

If you are doing 'perfect' Pokemon, you might as well give the Pokemon the final move set from the start.

I see that I am not the first to say this, but the perfect pokemon to run would seem to be slowbro. No need to pick up body slam as has access tk headbutt, similar tm learnset. Amnesia at 44 and even withdraw at 37 if you need it to badge boost.

What I'm curious about is a max statted onix. Not because I think it will be particularly good, but I am curious how a pokemon with 2 4x weaknesses will perform. Then again that would also make Brock's onix super strong. Hmm

How about creating a true perfect pokemon: fast growth rate, perfect stats, all moves available AND you can choose all of the level up moves and type, so you could give yourself both great stab move, great coverage, moves to abuse badge boost glitch and generally boost stats, anything you want. Create a perfect pokemon. You would probably want some typs, that would be super effective to enemies you can't one shot without super effective stab move.

Love the videos, just have one small suggestion. The gym fight opening scenes feel WAY too long, over 10 seconds each, and as a result I always skip around them. I feel like 2 seconds would be more than enough, considering it takes like 10 seconds to beat the gym in some of these challenges

How OP would 255 BASE STATS be with Clefable ? It starts with Doubleslap and Metronome, can learn a shocking good amount of TMs and has the fastest growth rate. Doubleslap is fairly weak, but with stab and the fact it can hit multiple times, it's likely more powerful than Mew's pound at 2 hits, and definitely goated if you can get some crits and 5 hits. Not mentioning that it's likely to be 1 or 2 level higher with fast level up. Or you can get lucky with metronome and pull out something like Razor leaf or bubblebeam i dunno lol. After that fight you can get Water Gun and Mega Punch (which is STABed), and it should really get it going from there Which is why I feel like it should be a good candidate for being the fastest within those settings.

Saying you're faster than the Aerodactyl is an understatement.

I think that Nidoking is probably best. Pound vs thrash is a pretty big difference on Brock, and he gets all the same TMs that Mew gets other than psychic. You might be able to skip body slam as well due to thrash being better?

Mew may have lost the 2nd race by seconds but its still a winner to me

In the second run, you use Psychic against the Flareon for Rival 5, but Body Slam is probably better. Their base powers are close (90 vs 85), but while Psychic has stab, Flareon has 110 Special but only 60 Defense. Might not be enough to overcome the 40%-ish HP it had after one psychic hit, but it's gonna be a lot closer, depending on damage range.

So the rare candy was a time loss in the second run?

Speaking to your point about figuring out when to rare candy this Pokemon if you were ever to revisit this: I find, from the video itself, Mew could do with a few levels in the midgame and before the champion. Mew seemed to struggle to get certain OHKOs regardless of route (Koga v Rival 5). Retain the use of candies before the champion to hopefully get those OHKOs on Exeggutor and Flareon by virtue of having more levels total. I have no idea how many candies it would take, and the act of using candies, at the speeds these runs were played at, could be a time loss in of itself if that count is too high. Would you agree with this assessment?

so what about a theoretically perfect pokemon? best possible typing, best possible starting moveset, best possible levelup group, all max stats, learns all tms, learns no moves from leveling for no time loss

why is 255 the maximum for a stat? i never really saw anyone give an explanation for this

Doesnt raising every base stat to 255 kind of defeat the purpose? At that point all that would matter is movepool and how fast it levels. Just pick something with a good special movepool and levels fast. Nidoking comes to mind.
