I was wondering how such a challenge would be possible. I forgot how glitchy gen 1 is 😂 For real tho, that strategy to delay the gym battles and level up multiple mons was very smart. On a separate note, the new title is way more clear and interesting
Yeah, I find the trainer fly glitch to be one of the most interesting and underrated aspects of Gen 1. Especially when it came to legit getting Mew in the game
A challenge I really want to see one of you guys do "Can you beat all the pokemon generations with the same team traded along?" So you'd get a team from Pokemon red/blue or yellow and once you beat it you trade all those mons into the next game and beat that. Then you repeat until you beat all the games!
A big reason it likely hasn't been done is becuase they made it impossible to trade between Gen 2 and Gen 3. I know some people have made workarounds, but originally on hardware at least, it wasn't actually possible
@RBYPokemonChallenges I'm sure you know this but it can be done with the VC copies of Gen 1. They are legitimate, endorsed by GameFreak and everything. Might be fun.
For sure. I realized it was a mistake not to go I to it more in the edit. Fortunately it's pretty quick to add in and fix. Hope that I proves everyones viewing experience overall
I agree. Thanks for re upload . The only thing I'd would ask if perhaps do exactly same but only change is must do badges in order . I imagine not going make much a difference. just an idea another video perhaps. Am sure some of us wouldn't mind you doing 3 optional / look other way lol . 😆 perhaps same with 2nd badge . But we would always remind you of not doing minimum battles lol 😆. Long story short you made right choice . . Look forward next video
For sure! Badges in order changes things a little. We'd get Dugtrio to beat Surge, and still probably go Drowzee for Rock Tunnel and Erika. The problem then is Koga, so I imagine Snorlax or the like would be necessary there. after that you can really do as I did, Raticate for Sabrina, a fossil or Tentacruel for Blaine, and no change from there
@@RBYPokemonChallenges Snorlax for Koga is really rough on minimum battles, 0 DVs. Tried using base Snorlax against Erika in a casual run recently and even that fight isn't easy. Koga's worse for sure though. Massive level deficit means Snorlax isn't actually hitting that hard, early Toxic is an autolose, and he can pretty easily troll you with Sleep Powder + Double Team late in the fight. Not saying it isn't possible, Amnesia + Body Slam can almost certainly cheese the win with enough persistence, but its pretty inconsistent. Would offer a better alternative if I thought there was one, but I genuinely struggle to think of anything else that makes the fight doable since glitched level 100 mon requires an optional battle. Maybe Level 33 Kangaskhan with Rock Slide is better, but the worse bulk really sucks and good luck actually catching that.
The thumbnail is so funny, I bet that Pikachu is still waiting for you it pick it up from Surge's trashcan 😂😂😂. I really loved the add explanation,it goes to show how much you really care about the viewers . Even though back in the first version of your video, I knew that this challenge is not that possible without the trainer fly glitch . I actually tested it for 30 minutes with a max dvs Pidgeotto and it couldn't do it even give the stat experience from the mandatory bug catcher. Mainly, because of sand attack's pp is not enough to avoid bide damage.😁 I assume that in red and blue the challenge is possible to beat without the trainer fly giltch .🤔
question about the "being able to be done on an original cartridge", at that point why not use ACE to glitch to the hall of fame after stepping out of your house? it's not too terribly hard to do, either.
Lol, this is planed for a April Fools or something one of these days. Basically, take Caterpie but then glitch to HOF with no resets and put it at the top of my tierlist.
Thanks for adding the extra info and explanations. Could you put a pinned comment or something stating how many extra battles it would have taken to beat the game without using the glitch?
Videos like this are what make you way better than Jrose and Scotts thoughts in my opinion. However I don't really enjoy the mew glitch in series like these. I think it would be much more interesting to see how close to minimum battles is possible in each section with the best possible legit option. Using a Gengar vs brock is not very entertaining.
For sure. That was why I went back in the re-up to break down that you can do Brock with just 3 battles with Mankey, and then Pidgeotto is legit for the Misty section, if not easy to find
Good Question. Koga is actually the toughest fight in the run, and Drowzee needed all that EXP to do it consistently. But perhaps there's another option....
The re-upload was a good idea. The original video was suggested to me many times, but I didn't realize it was your video till you renamed it. I watch it yesterday when I notice the name change and it clicked it was your video!
@@RBYPokemonChallenges Power Green Small, Pokemon GB Font [Extended], et al (font size in increments of 6), to match. Also, after sending out Pikachu, the name still said PIDGEOTTO. (beings explaining the options for Brock) Me: Oh....he's going to cheese a Gengar isn't he 😅 It was interesting to see pieces from all the other runs on this channel combined together.
You got it, but fortunately we can only really do Trainer Fly in the early game. After that we'd never get enough levels to have it make any sense whatsoever
Yeah, I added an explanation and breakdown of the strategy pre-Brock and many Pokemon that I tested. I also briefly explained post-Brock going into the Misty section.
Weird concept for a video tbh. It’s nice and all, but what’s the point of self-imposing so many rules if at the end of the day you just BS your way through the game with gamebreaking glitches? At this point, just use that one glitch that ends the game within minutes. At the end of the day, all those rules are pointless anyway.
To see if it's possible, and for fun, of course. There's a huge difference between a credits for warp and using a glitch to get encounters or Badge Boosting.
The main point was to see if there is any possible way to get through the game with Minimum Battles without repeating the same Pokemon. Fwiw, Trainer Fly is completely pointless after the first two Gyms. You'd never get enough EXP on Minimum Battles to get through any of the gyms after that. But it's the first two Gym Sections where there are basically no good options. I get that it's not everyone's cup of tea, which is fair enough
"I'll use Swords Dance to boost our Special" oh, Gen 1.
Yeah, it's the most Gen 1 thing ever 😂

For sure. I felt like it could be improved. I think the thumbnail is still meh... But whats, on to the next one!
You really love that Viridian Forest glitch huh?😂😂😂😂😂
I mean, I:ve only used it in 3 videos out of like 150? lol
The more I see glitches like this, the crazier I think our childhoods could of been! To get a Gengar before the first gym would of been insane!
Yeah, I find the trainer fly glitch to be one of the most interesting and underrated aspects of Gen 1. Especially when it came to legit getting Mew in the game

Also that team would end up massively over levelled unless there was some intervention to prevent it.
@RBYPokemonChallenges I'm sure you know this but it can be done with the VC copies of Gen 1. They are legitimate, endorsed by GameFreak and everything. Might be fun.
I mean I would probably just catch the team, and then just start each version with one member back at level 5 and go through to catch them again
I think the extra explanation here is important

Yeah, in Red/Blue Bulbasaur is fine for Brock. There's still the issue of the start of the post-Brock section, but otherwise it should be possible.

Absolutely. Mentioned in the video, but 3 additional battles to beat Brock with Mankey, then Pidgeotto for Misty is fine on Minimum Battles
Tell me you paused the video before the Pidgeotto explanation, without telling me you paused the video before the Pidgeotto explanation.
