@@RBYPokemonChallenges An option for an Optimized Run, perhaps? Yeah, it may be a few optional battles, but Body Slam and the extra Rare Candy could make the mid-game smoother and faster.
Yeah, but the key here was that we didn't really even need perfect luck. Consider that. STAB Wrap is effectively 22 power and with a 134 base Attack stat, it's kind of OP compared to say a Brllsprout
@RBYPokemonChallenges oh, I was referring to wrapping vs 2 turn moves. also with that there is the possibility that the 2 turn move doesn't ohko and you need to attack again. in which case you aren't taking 1 attack, you're taking 3
Wrapping moves versus two-turn moves? I'm not sure the two-turn moves Mew even BEATS the game. MAYBE at a high-enough level, but the fact that you always have to be risking damage is not promising. It's particularly going to suffer in the endgame, most everyone from Giovanni on is going to be agony. At least with the wrapping moves if you're fast enough you'll always have a chance because of how poorly designed they were in Gen 1. I don't think it can happen at minimum battles, though, because Lorelei and Lance are going to be walls. It's going to do fine against most gym leaders because Clamp and Fire Spin will cover quite a few of them effectively (Sabrina might be an issue because acc strats) but Lorelei and Lance will have only neutral to NVE hits and that's going to be taxing on the PP, particularly with Lorelei's mostly bulky Pokémon and the lousy accuracy of all the wrapping moves. You might also need to be really judicious about PP restoratives during the game because you might need more than usual in the Elite Four. Re: Poké Balls as one use: No idea what the official word is, but I have my stance. When a Poké Ball captures a Pokémon, it basically taxes the mechanisms to the limit to bind the Pokémon to the ball. If the Pokémon breaks free, those mechanisms are damaged by the backlash, rendering the ball inoperable.
This is kind of the point. The wrapping moves would have the issue of accuracy, opponents having many chances to use healing items, and battles taking a long time. The two-turn moves Mew would be stuck taking damage at least one turn every battle, but will do so much kore damage when it hits.
@@RBYPokemonChallenges More damage per hit, yes. But it's not about damage per hit at this point, but whether it can one-shot. Because this is basically the crux of two-turn Mew - it HAS to one-shot, or it's in trouble. Because anything it doesn't one-shot now gets TWO more turns to act. That's two more turns for damage, or two more chances to hit sleep/confusion/freeze/paralysis, two more turns to Wrap et al., and two more turns to use a heal if it's in that range. And when you start going against trainers with more than a couple Pokémon, you're not going to be able to afford those extra turns. But from the way it sounded like you were planning to set that up, it sounds like it has to one-shot without any boosts - no buffing moves, no BBG unless an enemy hits a debuff. And I doubt Mew is strong enough to pull that off without overleveling, particularly when it doesn't have a type advantage, which with only Grass and Flying at its beck and call it's not going to often. For a portion of the game, it's probably not going to seem like a big deal. It'll breeze by Brock and Misty on Solarbeam, Surge will just be a matter of the right rolls. But you're going to hit Erika and suddenly status is going to be an issue, Sleep and Paralysis can come in and interrupt your Sky Attack. Koga is going to use Sleep Powder and Toxic, and you get Toxic early on and that is IT. Sabrina, her Flashy Abra is always going to get at least one chance to make you miserable, and her Alakazam will always have a chance to recover. Blaine, his Ninetales with Confuse Ray will end runs, and you'd better hope you don't get burned and have your Attack cut because Solarbeam ain't gonna cut it. Giovanni's Dugtrio might very well have TWO chances to attack, and could very well Fissure you before you know what happens, or screw you up with Sand Attack - and then Persian can also Double Team and make more extra turns more likely. The Rival battles from 5 on are going to throw confusion and paralysis at you, and the later ones will add Leech Seed in. Lorelei's bulky mons might weather a Solarbeam and might hit freeze, Bruno has all type disadvantages but might throw a wrench in with X Defends on the Fighting-types, and Lance's hard-hitters are going to be tough to one-shot - but Two-Turn Mew is going to hate, hate, HATE Agatha. You're gonna get confused, paralyzed, or put to sleep, you're gonna have the first one's Substitutes, just getting attacks off is going to be a challenge, and you'd better hope you don't run out of Sky Attacks against the Ghosts because they resist Solar Beam due to the Poison typing. I honestly think this run could end up being pretty dreadful.
Your analysis is spot on. The two-turn moves will suffer so much from status and taking damage from opponents, so I expect Wrap strats to dominate. But that is kind of the point. People hate Wrap strats so much, but they're legit amazing in Gen 1
@@RBYPokemonChallenges I mean, I get WHY people hate Wrap strats - it's death by a thousand cuts and in PvP it basically becomes a game of "hope you miss so that I actually get to play" which isn't fun. (Same issue with Sleep, really, but most of them are less accurate at least.) But it certainly can't be denied that they're effective.
Seriously, backporting that move would be fun. I want to do this came run in Gen 2 with the Extreme Speed Dragonite. Will be a fun end-of-year idea for GSC Pokemon Challenges.

Hard rock is tough competition for wrap.
That is a fact
lol you gotta try an electric bike or a little scooter. Walking is cool though for leisure and recreation
Yeah, I'd like to try a electric bike. Walking is it though!
Stab hyper beam is the only thing i think of
Hyper Beam is good and all, but Wrap is where it's at.
Now finish the job and give it extreme speed lmao
Seriously, backporting that move would be fun. I want to do this came run in Gen 2 with the Extreme Speed Dragonite. Will be a fun end-of-year idea for GSC Pokemon Challenges.
Hey this aint GSC Pokémon Challenges nor will it ever be!!!
I will get you someday, GSC!

Basically lol.. I need to do like Scotty and ask the audience to point out all of my annoying tendencies
@@RBYPokemonChallenges by all means.. but please do interject a psychic/flying venomoth and edit in a nice! After each instance of 69
Psychic normal mewtwo is also god tier.
Oh god, we must find out!
Really fun video
Thank you 🤗
Poke balls only being one use is because silphco purposely making them like that for more profit
Damn.... Even Pokemon has corporate greed, even back in the 90s
@@RBYPokemonChallenges capitalism is inevitable. Must generate profit for shareholders at all cost. Pray they don’t go after the free healthcare pokemon
Seriously, it's because here in Japan we still have universal healthcare. When Japan joins the US model, we'll all pay for healthcare. I need to make a mod where the Pokemon Center costs 5000 poke dollars. And 1000 to access the computer. And potions sell for 1/10 of their value at the Pokemart and prices are all 10x
@@RBYPokemonChallenges you should work for Boeing
I think dragonite should have been Water dragon type but that just me
I could understand since it comes out of the sea in the Bill's Lighthouse episode of the anime. But it's moveset is clearly Normal-type
I feel Dratini and Dragonair would've been pure Normal, then gaining flying. But then GF saw it was too strong and made the Dragon type.
Normal psycic clefable?
Clefable has something else upcoming
Dragonite straight outta gen1
DWA - Dragons Wit Attitude
Using the normal dragonite and talking about a normal dragonite is confusing
Yeah....
This is funny to see when Yoshi in Kanto Expansion Pak is Dragon/Normal
Perfect, I made a yoshi run...
My favorite Pokemon let's go!
Let's go!!!
I miss your live streams
Coming, don't fret!
Just a bit of feedback, your video audio is pretty low in this video
Cheers I'll look I to that. Not sure exactly the issue, because it's the same mic and all, but possibly a setting issue.
This is valuable data for my Red/Blue ROMHack!
As for Venusaur as GRASS/DRAGON, I would personally prefer to see Victreebel as a GRASS/DRAGON.
Something will be Dragon, maybe both!
Your internet and system are fighting you to just stop streaming the vids and just record them
It's sad to see you and Scott's thoughts to be hiding half your videos behind a pay wall especially for fans that can't afford to pay you and have been hear pretty much sense the beginning on more than 1 account I mean even pikasprey has decided to fall off with his crappy png pedophile character the only true poketubers left are just jrose zwiggo and mdb
I think I got things figured out. I have a specific type of content that I want to stream, basically some redos in the new overlay and some ext5ra runs that don't necessarily justify their own video. But I can definitely understand the argument for just doing edited content only.
I'm not really hiding content behind a paywall. There are a lot of things that have been put on the member side that weren't up to snuff for final videos, but generally I post the same things on both ends, just with the difference being that paying members don't have ads in the videos. Though honestly, if I ever could make enough without ads to support myself, I would just doing everything ad free.
@RBYPokemonChallenges don't get me wrong I love the vids but there's a difference between the way you convey videos anymore and the way you used to its not the layouts or the paywall for some vids I get that being a youtuber isn't the most lucrative field but instead of keeping this going in your comments just know I have no plans on stopping watching your vids
