- We just hit 9000 subscribers, so we need to check Machamp's power level. But to push it over its limits, we add Meditate, Rolling Kick, and Ice Punch as Gen 2 Egg Moves to this Gen 2 tradeback Machamp!
Sad news that Akira Toriyama dies one day after this released. We lost a legend...

Scoring:
-Pokemon Starts with a score of 100 points.
-Minus 0.1 points per reset (10 resets = 1 point)
-Minus 0.25 points per optional battle (4 optional battles = 1 point)
-Minus 1 point per TM (Excluding Broken TMs)
-Minus 10 points per Broken TM (Double Team, Substitute, Mimic, Rest, Bide, Toxic)

Process:
Every Pokemon goes through 3 separate tests:
1. Minimum Battles
2. No TMs
3. Optimization for score on the tier-list
Standard Rules:
1. 0 DVs/ 0 IVs (Worst Possible Stats).
2. No Items in Battle.
3. No Stat Boosting Vitamins (HP Up, Carbos, Iron, Calcium, Protein).
4. No other Pokemon in battle (HM Mules allowed outside of battle).
5. Timer STARTS when I select New Game, and ENDS when the Champion is defeated.
6. Required Battles are the 65 battles that cannot be avoided without glitches (See Jrose11's original Minimum Battles video.
7. Pokedoll Glitch is a glitch and therefore banned.
8. Brock Through Walls is banned.
9. Badge Boost Glitch is allowed without restrictions.
10. Save states for routing and catching HM Pokemon only.
11. No wild encounters, except to catch HM Pokemon.

I've played a few new 3d gens, but I really love the 2d design for Pokemon.
That being said I really like the 2d establishing shots, the fire red etc games provide, when transitioning between areas.

Addressing your gratefulness to your viewers, I mostly enjoy your GSC content (because I personally like gem 2 a lot more than gen 1), but I really like your style on both channels. The thing that separates you from the other solo runners like Scott' Thoughts and JRose is that you don't have an emphasis on time in your challenges. You more focus on theoretical challenges like minimum battles, which I find to suit Pokemon as a game better than a speedrun challenge. The point system you use really makes for a better scoring system because it isn't as dependent on possible routing mistakes or rng wasting time. I also like how engaged you are with your community. I know you read and respond to basically every comment, and I appreciate that (I know the bigger channels can't really do that because once you get to a certain size it is impossible). Thanks for being a great content creator, and taking the time to listen to the feedback and input of your community.

Yeah, I've gotten a bit sidetracked, but I think there are still opportunities. Some might need egg moves to do it without TMs, which is a kind of grey area, but it's always fun trying TM-less runs
fun fact: Goku's power was only 8000 in the original (which is why he needed 3x to compete with Vegeta at 18000). "Over 9000" just became a meme because the English Ocean dub used 9000 and it sounded funny.
Facts, my wife demanded we rewatch the original Japanese to determine that it was in fact 8000.

Yeah, I had this debate with my wife that while 8000 is the original the Ocean Dub of over 9000 is the best dub,l. My wife, being Japanese vehemently argues that it has to be 8000.

Machamp feels like he's been kind of overlooked over the years. He got some love with a Gigantamax form in Gen 8 but he's otherwise been very second fiddle to Alakazam. Still, he can clearly do some stuff, judging by this run, if he's just given the right opportunities.
BBG makes an enormous difference yet again. And disobedience didn't really hurt as much as some previous runs - perhaps because Machamp is hardier than a lot of the tradeback mons you've used previously.
Yeah the fact that he has great attack helps a ton too, since even when he uses the wrong move, it's still strong

Machamp was really good wirh a decent fighting move. I thought that disobedience will be major factor like in the Vulpix run ,but you were lucky with that.

Minimum battles is about minimum of EXP. Using a trade mon with Bonus EXP is kinda cheap. On the other Hand disobedience gives its own spin on this run.
I agree. I went for the trade Mon style here because 1) He's meant to have a power level over 9000, and 2) it's my general rule when adding egg moves since they aren't legal in Gen 1

The infamous DBZ hackrom is cool but it's absolutely broken, especially for a solo run.
It's basically playing Fire Red but:
- Basically everyone has a different flavor of Blaziken that can have Mewtwo kind of stats
- Types doesn't matter outside stab and dark type
- Fighters are either garbage or a various degree of strong
- Everyone that matter learns 100+ damage stab moves

The biggest tip I've seen from a larger channel is to not blast the "send to subscribers" button. If you do that and they don't watch it pushes you down the algorithm.
I can understand. It's a big part of why you'll basically never hear me ask people to subscribe in the video.

When you said "disobedience is the worst status," I assume you meant from a full game solo run perspective. Because from in-battle perspective? Gen 1 frozen is a thing.
I don't know if you are to high of a level the disobedience will make your mon just kill itself
@@jjquinn295 If you are frozen, the enemy can't inflict damage to itself, and you don't use items in battle, you will lose 100%. Obviously if you do use items it isn't an issue, but I never use them.
The difference is we know we have to reset when frozen.. With disobedience you have to keep going because you still MIGHT win...

I can understand he's trying to do more live content - usually it pays more for one, and it lets him get more out of the multiple runs he does per Pokemon. That being said, I think it has to balance.
Maybe im just dumb but idk, im confused by what you mean... You said the game is going to count certain trainers as optional, so your going to "Reset to get rid of them"? Wtf do you mean? They are still there when you reset so what am i missing?
It's in the scoring on the lower right. It keeps showing an optional battle when I fight a trainer that isn't in Yellow, but resetting takes them off in my current overlay implementation. It's purely an issue with my overlay, not the game

i noticed you set up meditate 6x, but then would use karate chop if rolling kick was going to be not very effective. You shouldn't be doing this because when you crit with karate chop it ignores the meditate buffs and badge boost glitches. You'd do much more damage with rolling kick even if it's not very effective.
This is true, there were some misplays like that. I just did this one quick, more about the fun and taking a chance to say thank you more than anything
I dont get the reset thing with the Trainer battles? Why you should do it. You keep the exp

On Agatha I went in once without healing. On Lance, I was resetting tko Freeze

The water encounters and land encounters are on different memory addresses, and for whatever reason setting water encounters to 0 doesn't work.
The overworld is Gen 2 but the poké sprites are from Blue?
Yeah, there are two versions of the patch, one just changes the overworld, the other changes the Pokemon sprites. Personally, I like to keep the sprites as-is

In my ranks, I just have a list that goes in order and doesn't count the ties, so there could be one higher or lower with the same BST

In the rival 6 fight you had 4 meditates, shouldn't a 135 power rolling kick oneshot the Gyarados? I feel like you underutilised stab moves in this run.
Rolling Kick is resisted there, though, so I don't think it would have OHKOed Gyarados, but I could be wrong.
@@RBYPokemonChallenges Yeah I think you need 5 or 6 meditates with badgeboosts to get the onehit, but 800+ attack and a not very effective 135 power move is certainly doing more damage than a 75 power normal effective move working on 300+ special.
I like your content, but I dislike the choice to go for 0 DV instead of max DV. I'dd rather see pokemon at their full potential especially if you're going through the trouble of giving Machamp egg moves.
The zero DVs aspect is a long story....

Would like to have seen the run without the disobedience, but then you also probably wouldn't have the boosted experience points and egg moves...
Yeah, I like to keep it somewhat authentic, so when I use Egg Moves or tradeback moves, I as a rule go with boosted EXP but also disobedience. It really wasn't terrible in this one.
