Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire - Zinnia Battle Remix
Thank you for watching! As 2025 begins and the Year of the Dragon comes to a close, it feels like the perfect time to unleash a remix of draconic origins. I'm so excited to share with you a rendition of one of the greatest themes in all of Pokemon, and arguably all of gaming: Battle! Lorekeeper Zinnia! 🐉
There is so much I want to say about this piece, but I'll try to keep it succinct. This project was actually started back in 2022, but at the time, all of my attempts to imbue the theme with new energy fell flat, and the file gathered dust for several months. Then, a little over a year ago, I tried my hand at the piece again, hoping that the second go-around would be more successful. But it wasn't until I revisited the file last summer where things finally started to click, and the remix ended up going from a source of frustration to something I take tremendous pride in. If you've read this far (and thank you if you have!) I hope that this might provide a bit of motivation to work towards finishing any projects that you've been wanting to see to completion!
What finally made things come together was the use of a different approach, one that I've been hoping to utilize for quite some time now. This remix is infused with various traditional Japanese elements, and there's a special transformation that occurs about halfway through the video; Mega Evolution is by far my favorite battle mechanic, and I wanted the theme itself to evolve alongside the visuals!
This remix (and an additional one coming mid-month!) are some of the fastest pieces I've worked on, in terms of tempo, and I can't help but get excited by the surge of intensity that comes with a quick-paced theme. And if you're also a fan of high-speed tracks, you'll no doubt be thrilled by the music that @RyuMatrix makes. Ryu's music breaks both traditional convention and the sound barrier itself with wildly creative and energetic remixes and originals that will leave you reeling! He's an in-demand artist that frequently gets commissioned and involved with both collaborations and community projects, and the guy has a genuine passion for VGM and the people that celebrate it. I had the opportunity to meet Ryu Matrix at last year's MAGFest, and if you've not yet met him online (or in person!) I heartily encourage you to head over to his channel and see for yourself just how real he is!
Finally, a huge thank-you goes out to my wife and artist partner, Kali Lyon, for her incredible artwork in the video. I seriously can't get enough of how cool Kali's mega-evolved designs of Zinnia look! Even though the rogue Draconid wasn't the one to wield Rayquaza in the Delta Episode, we thought it'd be fun to have her summon the legendary creature in a thematic way. And if you enjoyed Kali's designs here, please consider checking out more of her work on Instagram! 📸

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Zora's Domain Remix
Переглядів 1,2 тис.Місяць тому
Thank you for watching! Zora's Domain is a beloved theme that's made an appearance in a few Zelda games, and its Breath of the Wild (and later Tears of the Kingdom) iteration is extra-special, I feel. I wouldn't have thought to select this for a December remix, but after seeing it on a "Winter Nintendo music" playlist and hearing all those chilly percussive elements, it became quite clear just ...

Thank you for watching! In celebration of Spooktober, @AlterLoy and I bring you this remix of a fan-favorite tune from DK64. This one actually gives the Creepy Castle theme a run for its banana coins, and some might argue that it's even spookier, but regardless, we hope you'll find this rendition to be frightfully fun! 🎃 In this remix, Alter Loy and I wanted to really bring out the industrial e...
Super Mario 64 - Bob-omb Battlefield Remix [with @Vector_U ]
Переглядів 1,1 тис.4 місяці тому
Thank you for watching! One of the coolest things about Super Mario 64's soundtrack is that its recurring motif, first encountered in Bob-omb Battlefield, can be heard throughout different stages of the game - and even jingles and sound effects! (those Red Coin SFX sound familiar?...) It's no wonder this tune has stuck with gamers for nearly three decades, and @Vector_U and I are so excited to ...

Pokemon Sword & Shield - Champion Cup (League Tournament) Battle Remix
Переглядів 6526 місяців тому
Thank you for watching! While Galar's gym leader battle theme remains a fan favorite - and rightfully so - with its unprecedented EDM energy, the Champion Cup theme (a.k.a., Elite Leader, League Tournament... seriously, what is it actually called? 😅) takes that iconic melody and amps up the intensity even further! This is one of my favorite tracks in the entire series, and I hope that this rend...
Animal Crossing - K.K. Cruisin' Remix
Переглядів 5567 місяців тому
Thank you for watching! K.K. Cruisin' is one of Animal Crossing's most well-loved tracks, and it's easy to see why! Having been a series staple since the GCN original, it just oozes coolness, with its groovy rhythms and sick chords. Even the Animalese lyrics are catchy! We mi mi, we mi mi...🎶 I've long been a fan of New Jack Swing but only realized that this genre had a name a few months ago - ...

The Paper Mario series is known for having vibrant hub towns that are loaded with memorable characters, side quests, and places of interest, and the N64 classic's Toad Town is about as lively as it gets! One of the best features of this iconic locale is the dynamic music, which changes seamlessly as Mario & Co. traverse certain areas - this feature adds so much charm to ...

Link to the instrumental version: ua-cam.com/video/j2z1WFZqY9c/v-deo.html Thank you for watching! Victory Road, the official theme of the 2023 Pokemon World Championships, is a powerful and uplifting song that I think really went under the radar when it debuted. The first time I heard it, the music legitimately gave me goosebumps, and even now, I can't help but feel moved each time I listen. If...

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet - Terapagos Battle Remix

Thank you for watching! Few themes have had more of an immediate and lasting impact on me than the anthem that plays while battling against Terapagos in the final phase. The music is, fittingly, stellar, and I just love it so much - I hope that this remix excites and thrills you in the way Terapagos' theme did for me! dude this is ridiculously clean. the percussion is just perfection, I LOVE IT, plus bonus points for switch sound effect!!
this goes SO HARD EQUALYZE YOOO
Wow this goes hard! You both knocked this one out of the park! I’m not familiar with this game’s soundtrack, but this is incredible!!
NostalJack! Thanks so much, man!! It's always a genuine delight to get notifications for your comments, and I appreciate so much that you take the time to listen intently and write feedback for each remix. Kid Icarus Uprising's OST, I'm finding, is one that not a whole lot of people are familiar with, but this song in particular was featured in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (as "Boss Fight 1"), which helped to put it on people's radar. The game is one of my all-time favorites for 3DS, and honestly, any title that Sakurai is involved with turns out to be polished and just a lot of fun to play - the man always seems to have a finger firmly on the pulse of gamers! Musings aside, I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed this remix so much, especially in spite of not being familiar with the original. Thanks again for the enthusiastic comment! 💛
Wow, I love the energy in this one EQ. I haven't played ORAS but my first pkmn game i ever played was Ruby, one of my favorite gba games and my fav pkmn game, and Rayquaza was always one of my favorite legendaries. The remix has this dark but groovy and intense energy, very fitting for a final boss type of song. Love the composition in this and your remix I think even elevates the original. Love the DnB drums and lead sounds. I also really enjoy Kali's art. The shading, coloring, and art style looks really awesome. Excellent work you guys I'm always excited for your releases!
Kibatsu!! Thank you so much for the wonderful comment, man. Such high praise means a tremendous amount, especially coming from you. ^_^ I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed the remix despite not having played ORAS (highly recommended, by the way)! That's awesome to hear that Ruby was the game that got you into the series, and I have very fond memories of playing Sapphire (then later Ruby and Emerald). Besides having an incredible soundtrack, the Hoenn region is just so rich, and many of the trainers are memorable, even to this day. But above all, I think the games had such an adventurous atmosphere, similar to how Johto feels distinctly cozy. The way you could really just explore everywhere, from mountaintops to the ocean depths, is something you almost never see in the main series games. And how sick is Rayquaza, right?! I love Rayquaza's design, and its Mega Evolution is somehow even cooler. Thanks for sharing those memories! I love the words you used to describe the energy of this remix, and they perfectly encapsulate the kind of sound I hoped this remix would have. Even though there was a pretty significant change in instrumentation, I wanted to retain the core intensity of the original, and it's heartening to hear that this goal was met! For how epic (and I don't often use that word, but it really is) Zinnia's theme is, you'd expect her to have a post-game superboss difficulty level (like Red from Pokemon G/S/C) but the fight against her is admittedly underwhelming. I hope that if Zinnia gets featured in another mainline game, they'll give her a team that's more on-level with just how incredibly powerful her team is! Thank you for the remarks regarding the composition! Honestly, at first, I was hesitant to change anything in the arrangement, because it's just SO DANG GOOD, but there turned out to be more opportunities for details like flourishes, countermelodies, and ascending/descending runs than I had initially anticipated. Those are the elements I'm most proud of here (aside from the taiko drums), and it means more than I can say that you noticed and mentioned them specifically! Kali and I really appreciate your kind feedback regarding her artwork, as well! This is some of my favorite work that she's done yet, and the design she made for Zinnia's "Mega Evolved" form really just blew me out of the water and motivated me to go an extra mile with the visualizer. Thanks for mentioning specific aspects of the art - you have both a remarkable eye and ear for detail! It's so encouraging to hear that you look forward to new releases on this channel. I really just love making remix videos so much, and the genuine enthusiasm you show for them just makes each one that much more special. Thank you!! 💛
Yoo, this is a dope remix to kick off the new year! Nice usage of the different styles in each half of the remix! That’s quite the journey this remix took throughout the years (since 2022, that’s wild, haha)! Good on you for trying again & again at it! Much thanks for the shoutout! Glad you got to experience the intensity of going fast!
Hey, Ryu! Thanks so much for the enthusiastic and uplifting feedback. :D I'm really glad you liked the energy of this remix, as well as the use of different styles! I wasn't sure at first how transitioning from D&B to half-time rhythms would go over, but the more I worked on it, the more things really came together. I really wanted the track to feel like it experienced a Mega Evolution! 😁 Thanks for reading the description and for referencing it in your comment - that means a lot! Indeed, this is one of two projects that took the span of multiple years to complete (the other being "That Person's Name Is" from Bravely Default), and I am really proud of being able to finish it, after nearly giving up on the piece a couple years back. Whenever I read about other remixers having similarly arduous experiences working on projects, it always motivates me to be a bit more tenacious with stuff like this. And yeah, of course! High-tempo pieces are always so much fun to work on, but they really require precision and intent to not fall flat, and I think you've got that locked down! Thanks again for the awesome comment, and I hope to see you in a couple weeks at MAGFest! 🌟
Yoooo pokemon ❤❤
Thanks for the enthusiastic comment, Dolphinazee! It's always a delight to see your reactions to remixes on the channel, and I seriously appreciate your interest in each one. Thank you for the continued support! :D
@Equalyze youre welcome and lets get an beautiful music year to go
the bass is crazy on this, good work 🔥
Hey, Aiden, it's great to see you again! Thanks so much for listening and taking the time to comment. ^_^ I appreciate your mention of the bass in particular, as it's one of my favorite aspects of this piece, and it was a lot of fun to arrange. The bass synth used here is "LS Funky" (I believe) which is from Groove Machine Synthesizer, one of the more underrated plugins, I feel. It's been awhile since I used this particular bass, but I definitely want to utilize it (or a similar setting) in a future remix. Thanks again for the kind feedback!
@ no problem dude, it’s always a pleasure to listen to your remixes
I love the outfit designs!
Hey, Xael, thanks so much for taking an interest in this remix! I'm really happy that you enjoyed Zinnia's costume designs, and Kali and I are grateful for the kind feedback! ^_^
Very nice! Zinnia’s battle theme is one of the best Pokémon themes.
Thanks so much, Cheery!! I really appreciate the kind feedback, and I'm delighted that you enjoyed this one. ^_^ I agree that Zinnia's battle theme is one of the best in the entire series, and it's easily in my top 3 favorites. The ORAS soundtrack in general is just too good! Hope you've had a great start to 2025 - thanks again! 💫
I truly love everything about this it sounds really good, nice job! 😁
Randi Espinoza, thank you so much for taking an interest in this remix, and for the kind and enthusiastic feedback! I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed this remix, as it's one of my favorites that I've worked on. Your comment really made my day! ^_^
It sounds so catchy perfect ! Great drums and mixing again. Even if I don't have much affinity with this Pokemon OST, the work accomplished commands respect! And Happy New Year (if I haven't already wished it for you).
Hey, MidiMusic! It's always a pleasure to read and respond to your comments, and I really appreciate your taking the time to listen and share your thoughts on it. ^_^ I'm so glad you liked this one, despite not being familiar with the ORAS games' soundtrack. Thanks for the specific feedback regarding the mixing and drums! I'm really proud of how those particular aspects came out, and it was a challenge to mix the taiko drums with the electronic drums, but I am very happy with the result, and I feel like I learned a good deal in the process. It's encouraging to hear that the remix is full of energy and that you felt it's a rendition worthy of acclaim - thank you for that! And likewise, my friend, I hope you had a great New Year, as well! So far, 2025 has been off to a strong start, and I truly think that this will be the best year yet for our VGM remix community. Thanks again for the support! 💛
The perfect way to start 2025. The very first Pokémon game that I played completely was Pokémon Sapphire back in the day (I had played Pokémon Blue before in a fake cartridge that had 25 games in one but it never saved my progress) and this takes me back. Pokémon music is incredible, whether it is city themes or battle themes like this one. The intensity of this theme with the fast tempo and melodies reflect the intensity of the fight and you caught that well. Every sound is accurate and every note has intention which added to my enjoyment of this remix. The production of this theme is pristine. Every sound works together like a dance of each sound-- not fighting each other but working with each other to make this theme into one whole. The EQ makes every instrument have it's own sonic space that makes it easy to enjoy this, even at louder volumes. The drums have a bit of a ska tempo which was interesting, even if the textures of the sounds themselves were from something you'd hear in a house song. The surrounding synth sounds create a nice atmosphere where the main leads can shine and in the next part the leads shone even brighter (even more so with the actual letters that talked about light and shining elements too) The visuals are on point. The artwork itself felt nostalgic in some ways when remembering battling Zinnia and I always liked the clothes that she wore. I have a soft spot for Rayquaza because in my first run in Sapphire, it was a part of my team and he was way overpowered. And of course, the background and red and yellow lines go so well with the texts that talk about how bright the stars are shining-- making one feel like they're there, perhaps talking or battling with Zinnia yet still stopping for a moment to admire the bright moonlight and stars. I can see the work that came into this one and it was all worth it. You reinvented this theme with your own style and different genre elements, but still held the essence of the original close. Quite an enjoyable remix and it was an experience from beginning to end. You gave this song justice, amazing work!
Consolous, thank you so much, man!! It means a tremendous amount that you take the time to write such detailed and heartfelt comments, especially in spite of how busy you must be with the massive level of engagement on your own channel. I loved reading about your early experiences with the series, and that really takes me back. My first games in the franchise were Red and Blue, and I was one of the last in my friend group to get a Game Boy Color and the games. But wow, playing a bootleg version that doesn't save your progress sounds tedious! You must have gotten _really_ familiar with the opening sections of the game. XD I agree, though, with your sentiment regarding the series' music. Few other series have as solid and consistent soundtracks as the Pokemon games do, and the fact that even the Route themes are memorable speaks to the care put into each entry's OST. I'm delighted to hear that you felt the energy and intensity of the original battle was conveyed well here, and thank you for saying that! My earlier iterations of this remix didn't really have the intent you spoke of, and I think it was only where I tried to go with a specialized sound style that things started to really come together. Besides modifying the instrumentation, I also wanted to add in some supplemental parts (like ascending and descending runs or rhythmic response segments) to augment the arrangement a bit. Everything came out just as I had hoped, and it's so encouraging to hear that you felt that those ideas were realized here! Thank you for your specific remarks regarding the production! Trying to balance the different instruments and make space for them in the mix was one of the most challenging aspects (especially mixing the taiko and electronic drums), and it happened gradually over several work sessions and iterations, which is my preferred way to make adjustments to a mix. It's unique feedback to hear that it's enjoyable even at louder volumes, and I appreciate your saying that! I tend to listen to music at a relatively low volume (or so I'm told), so I rarely crank things up, but it's definitely something I should actively consider in every remix from now on! The drums were definitely my favorite aspect to work on here, and it's interesting that you mention them having a ska tempo. I was primarily going for a D&B - and later Drumstep - rhythmic style here, and this rendition sits at a steady 175 BPM. I'm a big sucker for half-time sections, so I wanted that to utilize a half-time feel to make the Mega Evolution segment feel heavier and more powerful. And it's heartening to see you note the shimmering and atmospheric elements in the music, even drawing a connection to the in-video text, and that kind of attention to detail really speaks to your passion for both music and video elements! Speaking of which, I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the visualizer here, as well as the story I tried to tell through the dialogue and the changes in both Zinnia's and Rayquaza's forms. I agree that Zinnia's design is really cool, and I especially like the tattered cape she wears, in tandem with the awesome spiral anklet that houses her Mega Stone. I was so impressed and amazed when Kali showed me her design of Zinnia with the thematically-colored happi which unfolds to reveal a shiny Mega Rayquaza-inspired design! Rayquaza itself always struck me as an awesome Pokemon, both in my first playthrough of Sapphire and even now, and it felt so OP, with its Extreme Speed, incredible base stats, and being at Lv. 70 when first encountered. Man, you're getting me so nostalgic for this game! 😁 Thanks again for the wonderfully detailed comment, my friend. You took note of everything I hoped people would notice, and then some. Take care, and I'll see you soon! 🌟
Great remix once again! I really like what you did with the percussions, and how they change their pace at 1:15, for example. I feel like it's really hard to remix something this popoular and well done like this track, but you managed to bring a fresh perspective without losing the essence of the original. Great work!
Thank you, DarlingJack!! Such positive feedback means a tremendous amount, especially coming from you. I was honestly quite daunted by the challenge of remixing this track, because of how well-loved it is, and I know that people's expectations are sky-high for a masterpiece like Battle! Zinnia. That was primarily the reason why I set this project on the back burner multiple times, because I felt like each of my earlier attempts was a straight downgrade. And I realized that my attempts to make the original theme even more moving and intense would inevitably come up short, so I instead focused on trying to utilize a distinct, yet compatible sound style. I was experimenting with different instruments, and when I gave FL Studio's "Shakuhachi" preset a try, I knew right there and then that it would be the core sound to build to rest of the instrumentation around. It's weird, how taking a chance on something different works out serendipitously well sometimes! I appreciate your mention of the percussive elements, as well! A good amount of time and effort was spent on them, and I wanted them to be dynamic and dense, in terms of both rhythm and sound selection. I am really proud of how the taiko drums came out in the latter part, and I didn't anticipate that they'd synergize so well with electronic drums, but I couldn't be happier with the result! Again, thanks so much for taking the time to listen and comment on this remix. I'm beyond grateful for your support and enthusiasm! 💛
Another great remix. I grew up playing the original sapphire on my game boy but never played ORAS because I don’t own a 3DS. Either way still great.
DS to DS, thanks so much, man! Reading your comments always brings a big smile to my face, and I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed this remix, even despite not being familiar with the game it originates from. The ORAS duo are my favorite pair of remakes yet (though I have high hopes for potential Unova remakes!) and the new music is a big reason for that. I'd been wanting to remix this song for a few years now, and things finally came together in the way I hoped they would! Thanks again for taking the time to listen and comment - your support means a tremendous amount! ^_^
What an incredible remix! As always, you continue to outdo yourself with every release. I may be a little late to the party with this one, but it’s never too late to dive into the good stuff. You’ve taken on breakbeat again, and it’s an instant hit for me! I absolutely love it when you step out of your comfort zone as both a musician and remixer. The violin in the beginning is such a beautiful touch and a perfect homage to the original theme. It’s clear you’ve put thought into preserving the harmonic changes of the original, yet you’ve managed to infuse it with your signature Eqaualyze sound design. That balance between honoring the source material and innovating your own style is truly impressive. Your growth as an artist is undeniable, and this track is proof of just how far you’ve come. What a way to kick off 2025! Revisiting an iconic theme from Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (or ORAS) is a nostalgic treat, and you’ve handled it masterfully. I especially love the stylistic shift you made by blending electronic elements with traditional Japanese music. The use of a koto-like instrument and stick percussion, reminiscent of traditional Japanese festivals, was such a brilliant choice. The way the track evolves is stunning. The seamless blend of electronic and Japanese musical elements creates a narrative flow, as if the song itself is telling a story. The progression feels deliberate and meaningful, and the way it all comes together at the end is nothing short of magical. It’s a perfect example of how your artistry continues to reach new heights. Well done, I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Thank you so, so much, Poke&Remix!! I was really hoping that you'd enjoy this remix in particular, and I'm ecstatic to see such positive and enthusiastic feedback on it. ^_^ And please, if anything, I'd say you're _early_ to the party - or festival - and it means the world that you so quickly took the time to listen and comment after this video was uploaded. Seriously! I mentioned in my response to your comment on the Zora's Domain remix that this one in particular drew inspiration from you, and I want to now explicate that. When you created the series of traditional Japanese-styled remixes prior to the release of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, I was so - and am still - so impressed at how authentic and cool they sounded, and from that moment on, I had it in mind to take a similar approach and incorporate traditional elements. While this remix leans more into the electronic side, it wouldn't have ever come fruition without direct inspiration from that style you utilized, so thank you for that! (by the way, your "Pokemon Legends Arceus Prediction/Remix: Wild Battle" video is still one of my all-time favorites of yours) This one is, as you mentioned, definitely a step further outside of the comfort zone I lived in for my first few years making remixes, and it was my intent for this piece to sort of set the tone for the direction I want to go in 2025. Granted, I don't plan to do anything drastically or radically different, but I want to continue trying new genres and sound styles, and even remix a couple non-VGM themes for the first time ever. Your continual encouragement of my efforts to expand have motivated me, critically, to remain confident in that regard! I appreciate your specific remarks regarding the instrumentation, and it's awesome to hear that you felt this remix struck a balance between preserving some key qualities of the original and infusing it with new sound design! I'm a sucker for string instruments (I mean, who isn't?), and that synth violin lead from FL Studio's Sakura is one of my bread-and-butter leads, so I just had to use it in a track that heavily features violin to begin with. I'm tickled to see you mention a signature sound design for this channel, and it makes me feel so accomplished to have that be the case. As much as I'm inclined to use certain instruments and synths that I really like, I also want to make a concerted effort to utilize new sounds and diversify incrementally. The koto you mentioned was a lucky find, and although I was originally using the one in FLEX's General Midi library, I found a preset in Serum midway through the project that I felt had a more robust and authentic sound. I still kept the original in as well, since it had a nice bright timbre that was good for the quick ascending/descending runs. And I'm incredibly proud of how the taiko drums came out here; that was just a lot of trial-and-error putting together layers of drum and stick hits to try and craft something that was exciting and would jell with the electronic drums that were already in place before the shift in style occurred. It makes me so happy to hear that the music feels a bit reminiscent of Japanese festival music, as that was my exact intent here. Kali always carefully considers the musical style when creating her designs, and when she showed me her initial sketch of "Mega Evolved" Zinnia, I was sincerely floored. Her final designs ended up creating a stunning scene, which perfectly complemented the progression I wanted to be conveyed through the music. Your mention of the music itself telling a story is really such an enormous compliment, and it makes me feel like all my intentions were truly realized here. Thank you again for the time you spend writing such detailed and thoughtful comments, and your constant encouragement and enduring interest in the channel means the world. Here's to an exciting new year, my friend! 💛
I was very shocked when you based this remix on two prominent genres I did in my heyday Drum and Bass and Traditional Japanese style is honestly so cool to play around with you have perfectly fused both genres together I cannot wait to see what you have cooking next! Until the next remix my friend!
Never heard the original theme. But this ones fire lol
Thanks so much for the feedback, jsnotlout! It means a ton that you always take the time to listen and comment, and I'm psyched to hear that you enjoyed this one, despite not being familiar with the original. I really can't say enough about Zinnia's battle theme, as it's one of my all-time favorites - definitely recommend checking it out, if you're interested! And thanks again for your support! ^_^
Yo EQ I love what you did with this track!! I played through Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in late 2023, and I really enjoyed them. In terms of Gen 6 I had only played X and Y until that point, and I had never played the original Ruby and Sapphire, but I had such a fun time with my playthrough of the remakes. (I even completed a living dex for them, so that was fun!) Especially the Delta Episode, it felt like a really cool epilogue to a really cool Pokemon story! I really enjoyed Zinnia's theme then, and I really enjoy what you did with her final battle theme here! My favorite part about your remix is the overall tempo. You did a great job at maintaining the epic feel of this track! The percussion work you did with the japanese drums, as well as the modern kicks and snares, are mixed very nicely and pleasant on the ears. I am very biased towards high-tempo themes and songs, so I especially enjoyed that aspect of this remix! I also must say that the general instrumentation is, as per usual, phenominally well done. I love how all of the instruments mesh together, and the implementation of the japanese instruments fit like a glove. I imagine you used Sakura, yeah? Either way, I feel your instrumentation keeps the theme your signature level of fresh, as well as respects the original character the theme is tied to. This remix was absolutely well worth the wait. I totally feel you on your journey with this remix, I've felt the same with a few of my mixes as well. And I imagine it became very satisfying to finally have all the pieces start coming together and you becoming pleased with what resulted. Which, I think, became a very high quality, official sounding Pokemon remix of one of the best battle themes that the series has to offer. And, of course, I cannot go without saying how well the art for this mix is! The Mega-Zinnia outfit is so cool, and I love that she has the Shiny Rayquaza color scheme to match her guardian. The atmosphere of the piece is great, and both Zinnia and Rayquaza in both of their forms look high quality. (Which, by the way, if you read this in time and have Scarlet or Violet, don't forget there's a Shiny Rayquaza raid happening, and you can get it right now until tomorrow!!) Once again, absolutely awesome mix EQ! I will most definitely be coming back to this one many times in the future, and I really enjoyed listening to this. I hope you had a great start to the New Year, and I hope this year is even better than the last. Which, by the way, a SECOND remix is coming out this month?! I'm certainly very much looking forward to that! I can't wait to hear what it is. Until then, see you around friend! :)
Bland! It's really good to see you, man! ^_^ Thank you so much for the incredibly detailed and personalized comment - I had a big smile on my face the entire time reading it, and I really can't put into words how much it means to know that you enjoyed this remix to such an extent. I got nostalgic reading about your experiences playing different games in the series, and I'm glad to hear you had a chance to play the ORAS games - they're my favorite remakes to date (though I have very high hopes for potential Black/White remakes🤞)! The 3DS is one of my most-played systems ever, and I just loved the way that both X & Y and OR & AS played and felt. The OG Ruby and Sapphire definitely still hold up, so if you have an opportunity to play either one (or better yet, Emerald), I highly recommend it! But that's awesome to hear that you took the living Dex approach in your playthrough, and I think the DexNav feature from ORAS is one of the best features I've ever seen in the series. It really made trying to 'catch 'em all' feel rewarding and tangible, and a huge part of why I like those games so much. Plus, the shiny chaining mechanic with sneaking is brilliant - I hope they'll revisit that in a future game! Like most people, I was completely floored when I heard Zinnia's battle theme for the first time. It was one of those situations where I had to double-check and make sure that the music I was hearing was actually coming out of my 3DS' speakers. I really didn't think the composers could top the unique theme they made for Wally, but I was more than happy to be convinced otherwise! I know that fan expectations for this track are _very_ high, and I tried to polish this track over many months and iterations as best I could; seeing such you write such positive feedback makes those efforts feel realized! I'm glad that you liked the fast-paced tempo being kept intact here! I forget offhand what the original tempo is, but this remix clocks in at a steady 175 BPM. I often try to keep remixes at the original tempo, if possible, so they can potentially be used for mashups, and because it helps to preserve the energy of the OST version. The percussive elements are the aspect I'm most proud of, and I appreciate your specific mention of the taiko drums, and how they were mixed with the electronic samples. That was one of the most difficult and intensive parts of the process, but I couldn't be happier with the result! The idea to use taiko drums and sticks emerged relatively late in the project, but now it feels completely integral to the sound identity of the remix. I was able to learn some key techniques in the process, too, like creating a "ghost" track for the kick which would provide data for the big taiko drum to sidechain to, without actually outputting sound to the master. I know this is probably a novice technique for most, but I always get excited when I'm able to learn new things in a project! Thanks for your remarks regarding the instrumentation specifically! As you correctly surmised, Sakura was a key player here, with a pair of string leads modified from "Bowed 6", and interestingly enough, "Sax 5". "Buzz Aldrin" has become another favorite of mine, with the dampen knob lessened so the sound has much more sustain. I also made liberal use of FLEX, one of my absolute favorite plugins, with the General Midi library's "Shakuhachi" being perhaps the most critical instrument of all. I think it's one of the library's best instruments, and by a considerable margin! I was also fortunate to come across a fantastic koto preset in Serum, which basically uses a sampled koto in the Noise generator, with no oscillators. That koto preset is definitely something I want to use frequently, even if I'm not going for an overall traditional Japanese sound style! A final detail I'd like to explicate is the top bass that was used here, which I think was a slight modification of Serum's "Mean Rawr Bass" from its base library. Working with Vector U helped me to see the importance of using a top bass with strong mid-low presence to complement the sub-bass, and now I really try to make sure that whatever bass(es) I'm using can be heard easily on any sound system, such as a phone or laptop. I didn't mean to go so far down that tangent, but I just really enjoy explaining the process! In any case, I'm really happy to hear that the instrumentation offered that essential "fresh, yet familiar" feeling that I always strive for! Kali and I are sincerely grateful for your mention of her artwork in the visualizer, and I honestly am completely enamored by the new costume she's wearing, as well. When I saw Kali's sketch for "Mega Evolved" Zinnia, I was _so_ stoked, and her later illustrations of the ceremonial platform and Rayquaza's two forms really just rounded out the scene perfectly. I'm glad you found the designs to be high-quality, as well! Initially, it was a bit frustrating because to do the camera zoom and pan effects, I had to treat the video as a single, rendered item in order to use have everything move in tandem in the ZGEV. But for some reason, trying to zoom in on rendered videos in the ZGEV - even if they're rendered in 4K - always resulted in a reduced-quality image, so we ended up doing most of the "camera work" in After Effects, which turned out to be easier, anyway. So I'm glad we found a workaround, and hopefully it can help to make future videos a bit more dynamic! And thank you for the tip about Shiny Rayquaza, and also for pointing out the thematic colors in Zinnia's design! Admittedly, we didn't go for the limited-edition dragon because we've found the high-level raids to be punishingly difficult and janky in terms of mechanics. Hopefully she or I can trade for one down the line! It means so much to hear that this remix felt like a wholly worthwhile endeavor, and I can only imagine the sense of accomplishment and pride you've felt with both your remixes and originals that have been a long time in the making (like your recent piece from Project Scramble, which is lovely, by the way). Speaking of which, I have not been good about commenting on people's remixes lately - at least, not to the extent that I'd like to - but I'm hoping to have more time to dedicate to that aspect of UA-cam which I truly cherish. And yes, I do have an additional remix planned for this month, and it's an unprecedented non-VGM remix! Thanks for reading the descriptions in full, as always! My hope is that it won't cause people to think that this channel is suddenly changing gears, because monthly Nintendo remixes will always be the #1 focus here, without fail. But still, I'm excited to try something new! 😁 Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for the wonderful comment, and for being so encouraging and supportive over the years. I'll see you soon, my friend! 💛
Wow this remix really got better and better, I love it so much! What a great farewell to the year of the dragon! And it's funny Rayquaza shows up here, because the next year is the year of the serpent lol
Marisol, it's really good to see you! I always love reading and responding to your comments, and it means a lot that you took the time to listen to and write about the remix. 😊 I am thrilled to hear that you felt the music escalated in a positive way throughout, as that was my exact intent here. Granted, I always try to make sure that no part of the track is neglected, but I wanted the Mega Evolution sequence onward to be special - for it to really bring the heat! 🔥 I know a strong intro is important to hook listeners right away, but I feel that a song should pull out all the stops near the end and have a good sense of progression. I really appreciate your feedback in that regard! And I'm happy that you felt it was a fitting way to bid the Year of the Dragon adieu! I had nearly forgotten that the Year of the Snake is next, which was a rather serendipitous coincidence, since Rayquaza seems to have both draconic and serpentine features. I'm tickled you pointed that out! Thanks again for the wonderful comment, and I hope you have a great start to the new year! 🐉
Excellent as always mate. Truly a remarkable remix. I love just how much your percussion pops here. Really well balanced too. The visuals and camera movement, fading for text, and transformations all work wonders for how simple they actually are. They add a lot of engagement and I’m definitely taking notes for my own work. You inspire me. Happy new year mate, and may this be your best year yet!
Star Haven, thanks so much!! Your comments are always such a joy to read and respond to, and it warms my heart to know that you enjoyed this remix video so much. ^_^ I'm really happy with how the percussive elements came out here, so it's heartening to see such positive feedback on that aspect in particular. This was my first time incorporating Taiko drums and sticks into a remix, and I was honestly surprised at their being able to mesh with the electronic drums in the latter half. DnB and Drumstep are both genres that I love, so it was just a lot of fun to work on the drums and percussion, as well as everything else. Thank you for your kind remarks regarding the visuals, as well! I know you always keep a keen eye out for the approaches I utilize, and your feedback has been very important for me to help shape and refine the staple elements of the visualizers. Indeed, the fade and blur applied to elements behind the text is not something I would have thought to incorporate, but just about every technique I've made use of was because I saw something that I felt worked well in someone else's video and wanted to adapt it into my own visualizer. I'm truly humbled to hear that these elements can be inspirational for you, as well! I really appreciate the kind wishes, and I do think that this year is going to be exceptional! And I hope the very same for you, my friend! I know we've talked about collaborating for quite some time now, and I would love to get things in motion when you have an opportunity (no rush, though)! Please feel free to reach out on Discord (my username is the exact same on there) if you use it; otherwise, we can get in touch via some other method. Thanks again! 💛

Equalyze! Once again I am blown away by another fantastic production! What a beautiful remix to close off the year! :D Your intros are always so smooth and creative! This one is no exception! I feel as if my attention is grabbed and pulled into the peaceful depths of Zora's Domain! I LOVE your instrumentation on this one! Dreamy like plucks, strings, flute, guitar, and so many percussive elements! The bass gives the whole mix lots of support as well! And the chill beat is the icing on the cake for the winter season! Glitchman said it well, you are most DEFINITELY the master at chill themes! This remix is so CLEAN man! It's so cool how you mixed in several references to other Zelda tracks! I definitely heard Zelda's lullaby at 0:42! :) Once again, you and Kali have brought another masterful visual display together! You two are such a dynamic team in all of these productions and it is so inspiring! This creative display with the visuals is absolutely phenomenal! Having Mipha and young Sidon decorate the tree is a genius idea! Fantastic production all around Equalyze! I've been enjoying this one! I apologize about how late this comment is, my schedule has been SO booked lately and as a result, my time for making music and participating in the VGM community has been much more limited. But due to good things going on! Take care my friend, I'm looking forward to your next production! :D
Steel, thank you so, so much for the wonderfully detailed and enthusiastic comment! I always get so excited to receive notifications for comments you've written, and I really can't stress enough how much I appreciate that you always - and I mean ALWAYS - take the time to listen to each remix and provide feedback at length. It's heartening to see descriptors like "beautiful", "dreamy", and "chill" in your comment, as those are some of the precise qualities I was hoping this rendition would have. Your mention of the intro in particular has me feeling proud, as that's a specific aspect that I've been trying to improve upon in my remixes. I know that the intro is one of the most critical aspects of any song, and while I feel that the middle and ending segments are just as important to the identity and heart of a piece, most people will quickly lose interest if the first few seconds don't hook them right away. Even though our amazing community isn't about making snap judgements, the power of a captivating intro segment can't be ignored, and I'm delighted that you feel mine have been effective - thank you for that! Thank you for your specific remarks regarding the instrumentation, and for pointing out different instruments individually! You always listen with such intent, and it's conveyed perfectly through your highly detailed commentary. For the plucks, I used two different harp sounds - one from FLEX's General Midi library and one from a noise generator in Serum - and I'm happy to have finally had the chance to use harp sounds in a remix. 😁 The guitar is a staple favorite of mine, "Toca di Terra X" in FLEX's Essential Guitars library, and the strings are a combination of FLEX (Essential Strings' "All Strings Sustain"), Sakura (a modification of "Bowed 6"), and Kontakt's Session Strings, which I'm excited to have finally gotten my hands on. I'm glad you liked the bass, too, which is a combination of a saturated sub-bass and low piano notes. One of my favorite parts of doing a more downtempo, chilled-out remix, though, is being able to use percussive elements that are more subtle and textured, and I really appreciate your mention of them specifically! I was lucky to find a heavily reverbed rim shot on Splice that really anchored the drums and drove the sound selection for most of the piece. And while I love high-energy, intense drums in genres like DnB and Drumstep, it's hard for really subtle stuff to be heard in the mix, but a gentler sound style creates opportunities for those kinds of toned-down elements to shine. I appreciate your referencing Glitchman's comment, too, and it means the world to know that you guys think so highly of the music on this channel! ^_^ And great catch, noting the Zelda's Lullaby reference, too - I find that this little tune is so easy and fun to slip into just about any LoZ arrangement! 😁 Kali and I are grateful for your mention of the visual elements, and of the video concept itself - thank you for that! While I did some minor overlay effects (primarily the text and EQ spectrum reactor), Kali handled the bulk of the video production, and we both thought it'd be cute to have young Sidon and Mipha decorate an aquatic tree, then have big sis light it up with Mipha's Grace. I'm honestly blown away by how detailed she makes all these different scenes and characters, and her recent endeavors in animation have helped to add a new dynamic to videos. I'm a very lucky guy to have her support with the visuals in every video, and I hope to never take that for granted. Man, it means so much that, in spite of your limited free time, you've chosen to spend a good deal of it to write such detailed comments on my videos. And I'm glad to hear that things have been good outside of the world of VGM remixing! That said, I'm of course looking forward to your next production, as well, and I heartily appreciate your enthusiasm for this channel! 💛
Honestly sounds like something from a Pokemon Game
Hey, Bowser Junior Studios, thanks so much for watching and commenting! I know what you mean regarding the overall energy and change in sound styles for this piece; despite its intensity, there are moments in Miracle Matter's theme that do feel a bit Pokemon-ish! 😁
NINTENDO, HEAR ME OUT, DO A BRAND NEW KID ICARUS
Right?! I would be so pumped if Nintendo released a new Kid Icarus game, especially if it was done in a style similar to Uprising. We can only hope... 🤞 Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to comment, 6aby4ndNam1. I hope you enjoyed the remix! :D

How am I just watching this now?!? Wow this is so good! Such a great job Equalyze and Vector U! Equalyze my friend you are KILLING it!! 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you so much, Sculpted Nostalgia!! It's always a delight to read and respond to your enthusiastic feedback, and I appreciate your taking the time to listen and comment on this remix, even months after its release. ^_^ It was a genuine honor and privilege to work with Vector U, and I'm so proud of how the music turned out. It means a lot to hear you say that I've been on a roll, and I feel more than motivated to keep working towards continual improvement. Thanks again for the kind comment, my friend! 💛
This song scared me as a kid! For a couple of years, I would just play the first couple of world and stop at this one because the music was too spooky for me 🤣 But not anymore! This is amazing work! So much attention to detail here, you guys really knocked this one out of the park!
Oh man, I totally feel you there! For me, it wasn't this song in particular, but that iconic "Get out..." that you'd hear in certain areas when you've run out of time. That always scared the heck out of me, and the countdown definitely didn't help to ease things. 😅 But in the original Frantic Factory track, those low strings and barry sax in particular really made it unnerving to listen to (and the Production Room variant of the track sounds particularly unfriendly). It's wild, how much of a difference music can make in setting the atmosphere of a game! Thank you so much for the kind feedback, though! I'm really glad that you enjoyed the rendition Alter Loy and I worked on, and huge props to him for building the song structure and core instrumentation in this piece. His ability to select and modify sounds is remarkable, and it was a genuine delight to work with him on this, both musically and personally! And I'm glad you liked all the little details we put in! I feel like I can't express enough how much I love dynamic music in games, and Alter Loy was on board for taking that concept to the max and making each section of the song feel like a distinct part of the factory. Thanks again for the wonderful comment, NostalJack! 💛
• I'm three years late, but... • This is honestly such a beautiful blend of synths and real instruments-honestly one of the best I've heard!
Heyy, Chocolate Chip Studios, it's great to see you! :D Thanks so much for taking an interest in this remix, and for your kind words. It always warms my heart when people comment on older remixes on this channel, and I'm delighted that the production on the track has held up! Even now, this is one of my favorite remixes from the channel's early years, as it's more on the mellow and ambient side, contrast to the usual high-energy battle themes I like to cover. I'm a big sucker for piano, and I love the way it's featured so prominently in the Kingdom Hearts series, so I wanted to make sure it was a key element here, as well. And I'm glad you enjoyed the supporting synths, as well - I used some choral and string pads to warm the sound up a bit and add a bit of atmosphere, and it's heartening to hear that it achieved that effect! Thanks again for the enthusiastic comment - this really made my day! 🌟
You're a master at both upbeat and chill themes! Wow, i love the soothing instruments, all the ambient background elements, and how it's combined with a groovy drum beat! Man, that rim shot with the reverb makes all the difference! 😆 Excellent choice of samples and beautiful instruments, everything fits together just right. 👍
Glitchman!! Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback! ^_^ I always get so excited for notifications of comments you've written, and it's a sincere joy to read and respond to them. It means a ton to know that you feel I'm able to work well with both high-energy and gentler, more downtempo styles - thank you for that! As I was considering song choices for December, I thought about doing a jolly, vibrant piece, but after realizing that most of the pieces for 2024 were more on the intense side, I thought it would be nice to pick a gentler, more calming song. Although I really enjoy battle themes and similarly high-octane tracks, I want to make sure there's a good deal of variety on the channel, and it's nice to pull things back a bit every now and then. :) Thank you for your remarks regarding the instrumentation in particular! Selecting and modifying instruments is always one of the most challenging aspects of remixing for me, and it's encouraging to hear that you felt the instruments and percussive elements were well-selected! I adhered quite strongly to the original instrumentation here, with some additional bell and charm synths to add a bit of wintry flavor, but the biggest difference as you noted is the change in drums and percussion. I'm really proud of how they came out, and for quite some time now, I've wanted to do a more chill-styled remix to make use of ambient, reverbed percussion, like the rim snare you noted - that's one of my favorite samples in the entire remix, and I feel like it really acted like the glue here! Again, I really appreciate that you always take the time to listen and comment with such intent and precision. I hope you have a great holiday season, my friend, and I'll see you around! ❄

Honestly, it's one of my favorite VGM-peripheral songs, and I wish more people knew about it, because the production and vocals are fantastic, and it's just a powerful and moving piece overall. It's so encouraging to hear that the remix itself has a victorious kind of sound, and I hoped above all that people would feel uplifted and empowered, just as I was by the original. It means a lot that you took the time to listen and comment on a track that wasn't strictly a VGM piece - thank you so much for your continued enthusiasm and support for the channel, TheCreepyPro!! 🌟
@@Equalyze I am glad you can introduce me to new music!
great remix from you guys! love how heroic it sounds!
Thank you very much!! AvoCado and I always have an awesome time working together, and this is a piece we've wanted to cover for quite some time now - I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed the remix, and that you felt it had a heroic sound, just as we had hoped. Honestly, I can't help but feel empowered when I listen to the original, and it's encouraging to hear that the same feeling came across here! 🪽
@@Equalyze you guys are a good combination!
OMFG!!!! That version 🔥🔥🔥🔥 So epic!!!
Hey, Masi Saurén! Thanks so much for taking the interest in this remix, and for the enthusiastic comment! I'm really happy that you enjoyed the music, as this is one of my favorite remixes that I've worked on. I'm a huge fan of Twilight Princess and of this song in particular, and it was a lot of fun to make a remix in this style. 😁 Thanks again for your feedback!
I'm so picky when it comes to Starwolf remixes ('cause I love the original so much) but wow! This somehow retains the 64 feel and instrumentation, but with the modern Assault flow. It's perfect, defo adding to my playlist for while I program!
Randy Becker, it's great to see you again! Thank you so much for taking an interest in this remix, and for your time spent writing such a nice comment! Star Wolf's theme is one of my all-time favorites, and I was really stoked to be able to cover it a couple years ago. I had listened to a bunch of Star Wolf remixes prior, and I wanted to make sure that what I ended up doing would at least be different from the majority of them, because there's some really tough competition out there! (and I have to mention that Vector U's rendition of the theme is still my very favorite to this day) The Assault version is likely my favorite in-game iteration of the theme, because it just works so well with the voice acting, SFX, and overall atmosphere of that game, and the slower, more deliberate tempo just feels so right in that instance. I'm really happy that aspects of both the N64 and GCN versions were apparent here, and it is very high praise to hear that it made the cut for you! Thanks again for the wonderful comment! :D
@Equalyze Vector U's version is such a bop, was one of the only ones in my playlist until yours. XD But yes, you absolutely did it justice. Listening to your rendition just makes me wish for a remaster of Assault on the Switch. But it has to have good music like this!
My bf is really into Bravely Default and, in turn, got me into the music. This rendition really made me smile!
Thank you so much for the kind words! Bravely Default, while being an excellent game overall, isn't one of my favorites, but its OST has some of the best tracks in all of gaming, I feel. "That Person's Name Is" is still my favorite VGM theme of all time, and while many songs have come close, nothing quite tops just how powerful, beautiful, and straight-up cool this song feels to me. I'm delighted to hear that you've taken an interest in BD's soundtrack, as well, and it makes me happy to know that you enjoyed this particular rendition, as I'm very proud of it. 😊 Thanks again for your thoughtful comments, Randy!
This sounds so freaking good!!! Minds me of the good days when Nintendo actually cared about the game music back then!! Keep up the amazing work and please for the love of god… don’t stop doing what you do!!!
Thanks so much, Hezekiah! Your comment really made my day, and it is so encouraging to hear that you feel this channel has the potential to keep going. ^_^ I have no plans of stopping anytime soon, and I hope to keep making remixes for as long as I'm reasonably able to. This has become a very important part of my life, and having opportunities to work with talented artists like Mattip has only further fueled my passion for VGM! I'm delighted to see such positive feedback regarding the music here. Mattip did a wonderful job with the percussive elements, melodic parts and SFX, and I think the synergy between he and I really allowed this to come together just as we had hoped. I agree that some of the classic Nintendo tunes really are among the best in terms of composition. With the limited selection of sounds and noises composers had to work with, they really maximized those elements with robust and catchy melodies - there's definitely a reason for songs from earlier eras in gaming being as memorable as they are! Thanks again for the wonderful comment! 😄
@ your welcome!!! I’m glade my comment made your day because your truly a freakin musician!!! And one quick question? Did you play all of those instruments by keyboard and recorded it into a daw or did you made it by midi notes?
@@Hezekiahceleb Ah man, I really appreciate the kind words! ^_^ I've always been involved with music in some way, since I started taking piano lessons at age 5, but that interest in music really developed into a true passion when I started remixing VGM nearly 5 years ago. To answer your question: I didn't input the notes using a keyboard, because my timing is not as precise as I'd like to it be, so having to quantize and fix all of the mistimed and/or incorrect notes would end up creating more work in the end. 😅 For all of the midi notes that are input into the arrangement, I enter them in manually by clicking in the grid in FL Studio's piano roll. I almost always use sheet music when inputting midi notes, because transcribing the bass, harmony, and chord parts is something I admittedly struggle with. Once I have the basic elements down, then I like to embellish the arrangement with melody variation, added parts, and even changes to the bass and chord structure. Thanks for asking about that, and again, for your kind comments! :D
@ no problem man! And the reason why I said that is because you know, as me being a musician also, I was curious of how you go about your music because it’s just so good man!!!
This is so soothing! Hearing how you produced and mixed a laid-back track like this is wonderful!
Thanks so much, Ryu! ^_^ Your enthusiasm for each remix means a great deal, and I'm deeply grateful that you take the time to listen and comment so thoughtfully. I'm very happy to hear that you felt the remix was soothing, as that was definitely my intent and hope. After a good number of high-energy remixes this year, I wanted to wind down with something a bit more downtempo and relaxed. And thank you for your remarks regarding the production and mixing! I was able to spend a bit more time than usual on the mix in this instance, and I'm glad it seems to have paid off! I hope you have a great Christmas season, my friend! Thanks again! 🎄
Dude! your Stuff is SICK. Crimminaly under listen to
Thank you so much, Jyggy! ^_^ It means a lot that you took an interest in this remix, and I'm very humbled to hear that you feel the music on this channel is underrated - that's the ultimate compliment! I hope you have a great holiday season, and thanks again for the kind words! 🌟
Hey bro what a way to close out this massive year for you with a peaceful underwatery and wintery solo production of this amazing classic from the Zelda series. This track in particular is one of my top 5 favorites of all time. Your remix perfectly captures the vibe of the original, almost as if you were using a sampled loop, but it definitely uses your iconic sounds and punchy drum tracks. I love this track so much because its a great bedtime track, and also great for meditation. Lately I've been really listening to almost exclusively relaxing video game music because me and many others could really use a peaceful escape this chaotic modern world. Amazing how you blended a water theme with a winter style, it shows your incredible understanding of music composition, production, and a love for vgm. I love your return to a solo production for December and I can't wait for what you have for us in 2025!
Kibatsu! Thank you so, so much for the wonderful comment, man. Reading what you wrote brought me a lot of joy, and it means so much to know that you enjoyed this rendition of one of your all-time favorite tracks. It's exciting, yet a bit nerve-wracking to know that any song selection could end up being someone's favorite, and I always want to make sure that the person isn't let down or underwhelmed by my remix of it. I really appreciate your feedback on this song, and your detailed commentary on it is deeply heartwarming! 😊 I'm psyched to hear that you felt the sound style and overall vibe of the original were captured so well here - thank you for that! In this remix, I really didn't want to change much in terms of instrumentation, because it already sounds so lovely, so keeping the guitar, piano, and synths largely intact was a priority of mine. Through sheer luck, I managed to find a synth early in the sound selection process that sounded nearly identical to the one used in BOTW for the chords, and I knew right away that it had to be used. With the core instrumentation mostly unchanged, I thought that it would be nice to add in some bell synths for a bit of sparkle and holiday cheer, and I wanted to primary difference to be heard in the percussive elements. Since the original version is quite sparse with percussive elements, it really created an opportunity to introduce some gentle drums and percussion, which I eagerly took! You really said it, in regards to the much-needed respite that calmer, more soothing music can provide from the stresses of an increasingly chaotic and cruel world. I'm glad that this remix falls into that category, and as much as I like the fiery, intense battle themes, I want to make sure to pull things back and put out some more reflective-sounding remixes from time to time. It makes me happy to hear that this rendition had both a watery and wintery flavor, and your remarks regarding the production and arrangement have my heart swelling with pride - thank you so much for that! With pieces from games and/or series whose music I know well, I like to try and incorporate references from other parts of the game, or from other games in the series, and it means a lot to know that you enjoy and look out for those details. After a series of collaborations, I feel like my solo remixes have the potential to be more robust from what I've learned working with you, Vector U, Alter Loy, and AvoCado - you guys have all been awesome to work with! I'm incredibly excited for another year of remixes on this channel, and I'm thrilled that you're looking forward to it, as well - and the very same to you, my friend! Thanks again! 💛
This is absolutely beautiful! I must say I adore how you weaved in so many other themes in this so well and have it fit so perfectly, such as Zelda's Lullaby and Sidon's Theme. Just goes to show the chops you have as a producer and remixer!! Zora's Domain has always been such a peaceful area in the Zelda franchise and this remix captures that so well, especially with the piano accompaniment and all the acoustic instruments! And as always, Kali's art is great! Love how she captured the vibe of the domain and the design of the Zoras! Amazing work as always!! 😁
Thank you so much, Danny!! Your comments are always a genuine delight to read, and it means a tremendous amount that you take the time to listen so intently and comment with such detail. 😊 I'm really happy that you liked the different themes that were integrated into the arrangement, and thanks for saying so! I feel like the Zelda games in general lend themselves well to this concept, especially since all of the ocarina songs in OoT/MM use the same 5 notes. The sustained notes and relatively low density in Zora's theme also create many opportunities to slip in segments of other themes, so I wanted to take full advantage of that here! 😁 It's humbling to hear you speak so highly of my abilities, and it gives me a great deal of motivation to keep working towards continual improvement! I agree that Zora's Domain is one of the most reliably calming and relaxing areas, with an equally serene theme, and it always feels like a much-needed respite from the dangers of Death Mountain, the uncertainty of the forest areas, and the chaotic hustle and bustle of the castle towns. One of the things I love most about the BotW/TotK iteration is the way the piano is incorporated, and those lovely triplet runs were a huge reason why I decided on this particular version. I'm glad you liked that aspect of the instrumentation! Thank you also for your kind remarks regarding Kali's artwork! I feel she did a fantastic job with both the art elements and the animation, and the visualizers she puts together in Adobe always feel like a step up from what I'm able to make using FL Studio's ZGEV alone. We really appreciate your constant support and encouragement of us both! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas season, my friend. Thanks again, and I'll see you soon! 🌟
the switch sound effect goes so hard, nice mix equalyze 💙
Thanks so much, iRead! I know that Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are particularly special games for you, and it means a tremendous amount that you enjoyed this remix from their OSTs. 😊 So, full disclosure: the Switch snap sound effect used here is the very same one you used in our collaboration back in the summer of 2023! In fact, the wind chimes you used in Poke Pelago are also incorporated here, alongside a delicate "fairy chime" layer that I sourced from Splice. Those two sounds alone have been hugely valuable for me over the past year, and in addition to using the actual audio clips, I regularly consult your percussive parts (in our collab and your remixes in general) for both inspiration and edification, as they are genuine exemplars for how drums and percussion should be done in a variety of genres. It's something I've thought of often, and I'm glad to finally be able to share that with you! Thanks again for the kind comment, my friend, and I hope you have a wonderful holiday season! 💛
@@Equalyze hehe im glad you used the same switch snap, it's my favorite thing to put in mixes LOL and im so glad to hear that you appreciate my percussion parts considering im a drummer lol, brings me great joy!
Cool
Thank you for the kind comment, Taylor - I really appreciate your interest in this remix! Have a wonderful holiday season! ❄
The Zora's have some of the best themes in all of the Zelda games. I hadn't heard this one before but I remember the one from Ocarina of Time and this one still has a similar magic to it. I like the way you changed the original with this remix with sort of a dance and R&B twist-- particularly the drum beat and overall rhythms. The arpeggio piano notes in the background add to that magic that is characteristic of Zora's Domain. It was a nice detail hearing the iconic Zora melody in some of the parts, very subtle but the nostalgia it gives, hits the subconscious like a train. The production is top notch, with every instrument having their own space and the visuals are on par in every sense, especially the water effects that make one imagine being below water with these magical creatures. Overall, a fascinating work
Heyy, Consolous! Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a wonderfully detailed and thoughtful comment - I had a huge smile on my face while reading it, and it makes me very happy to know that you enjoyed so many of the subtle details here. ^_^ I agree that among the Zelda series' different areas, the Zora regions have particularly great music, and it's amazing how the composers manage to capture that "watery retreat" kind of feel with the music alone. Honestly, it's hard to decide which iteration of Zora's Domain I like best, but as you mentioned, the Ocarina of Time version really set the precedent with its tropical paradise sound style. I'm so glad to hear that you liked how the rhythmic drive was changed here, as I wanted that you really be a defining characteristic of this remix. The 90's R&B/Easy Listening style of drums and percussion that I tried to capture here is something that's quite nostalgic for me, and in particular, I drew a bit of inspiration from Christmas albums that different 'boy bands' would release, like N*SYNC and Boyz II Men. Thanks for mentioning that aspect in particular! The piano arpeggios you mentioned are one of my favorite details that are unique to the Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom iteration of this theme, and I'm delighted that you enjoyed the way they were featured here. Huge credit to the composers for taking such a well-loved theme and breathing new life into it with all these lovely little flourishes. And I'm happy that you enjoyed the inclusion of the Zora siblings' themes in this arrangement, as well - honestly, this ended up becoming as much a remix of Mipha's and Sidon's themes as of Zora's Domain itself! Thank you also for your kind feedback regarding the production! More time than usual was spent on trying to balance instruments and tweak the arrangement so even the subtle details could be heard, and it's very high praise to hear that you felt the mix was clear, with space created for each element - and thanks for your mention of the watery SFX, as well - those were a lot of fun to use! 🌊 Again, I really appreciate your enthusiasm for this remix, and your generosity in taking the time to comment at length. I hope you have a great holiday season, and I'll see you soon! 🌟
Great, I love the way you mix the Sidon's theme in the end. 👍
Hey, MidiMusic! :D Thank you so much for always taking the time to listen and comment, my friend - your support and enthusiasm for the music on this channel means the world! I'm psyched to see you mention the reference to Sidon's theme, and I'm tickled that it caught your ear. 😁 Hope you have a wonderful holiday season and new year, and as always, I'm looking forward to what you'll create on your channel. See you around! 🌟
