To be honest, it really took a lot out of Kali and I, and I'm struggling to play catch-up now, but we couldn't be happier with how this turned out, and we're just overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and support that you and several others have shown. I think the next big milestone (whatever it may be) is quite some time away - likely years from now - so she and I will hopefully have plenty of time to plan for if/when that happens. I'm thrilled beyond measure to hear that say that you felt it was reminiscent of old-school hip-hop, like from the mid-to-late 90's - and particularly from a Pokemon anime soundtrack. As someone who grew up listening to "2 B.A. Master" and whatever other few CD's I could get my OST-loving hands on, it makes me feel so proud and realized to have that precise comparison be drawn! 😊 I really like the original instrumentation for this song, but once I realized that easy, accessible vocal extraction was a thing (via an AMAZING software called Ultimate Vocal Remover V5 - highly recommended!) I knew that it was an opportunity to remix it in this style that would be nostalgic for me - and, I hoped, other people, too! Again, your specific remarks regarding the style just have me grinning ear to ear! It's very high praise to hear that you felt everything was well-mixed! That atmospheric piano is one of my favorites - called "Dream Piano" in one of FL Studio's native VSTs, FLEX. It has a beautiful shimmering pad sound to complement the distant, heavenly piano articulations, and it's quickly become a favorite of mine. And thank you for mentioning the vocal mixing, too! To be honest, the fact that they were already super-high quality right out of the box made them easy to work with, and I couldn't believe how cleanly the Ultimate Vocal Remover extracted them. It only required a small amount of cleanup and processing to get the vocals to sound like they did in the original. I don't necessarily want to set a new precedent for myself, but I've really developed a strong liking for creating new instrumentation for songs with the original extracted vocals. I'm definitely excited to take this approach again! ^_^ Thank you for always taking the time to comment on the visuals, too! As an adept video creator who always goes above and beyond with his visualizers, you know all too well how much of a labor of love it is to work on detailed, interactive visuals. Kali really went all-out here, and I am so impressed with how everything came out. I originally was going to have her handle just the text animations, but then she got really into it and started learning and utilizing new skills to create multi-layered custom animations for the artwork she created of Blue, Green, and Red. I honestly wish that Pokemon would include this song in more of its promotional videos, because it's so beautiful and impactful. But sometimes the hidden gems turn out to shine the brightest! 💎 I really appreciate your feedback on the vocal mixing in particular. Like with the Ashley's Song remix last year, I used the Ultimate Vocal Remover software (highly recommended, by the way!) to extract the vocals from the original, then did a bit of cleanup, processing, and timing adjustment to get them to fit with the new instrumentation. But honestly, the raw extracted vocals were really good to begin with, so it made the mixing process quite a bit easier, and more enjoyable, too. Ah, Kali and I are delighted to hear that you liked the visuals so much, and thanks for saying so! Complete credit goes to Kali for the visuals here, and she really went all-out with the designs, animations, and edits. It means the world to have one of my first friends in the VGM remix community celebrating this milestone, and I really can't express in words alone how much I appreciate your support and encouragement over the years. It's incredibly heartening to hear that you feel the overall style of music on this channel is one that's worth coming back to - thank you for that! It does feel like the channel has really picked up steam over the past several months, and I've been fortunate to have some remixes that received a strong and sustained response. I'm thrilled that you liked the instrumentation and sound style here - it feels nice to have all the details in the instrumental parts be noticed and made note of. :D One thing I've really grown to love is taking extracted vocals and creating new supporting instrumentation for them - it's something that I want to get better at, and I'm trying to take more of an approach of "setting the stage" for the vocals, rather than using a lot of melody overlap, which I did in previous vocal remixes. I agree entirely that Pokemon does a phenomenal job of creating these huge moments that are sometimes heavy, sometimes uplifting, and always memorable! This is my favorite original piece that Pokemon has ever created for one of its major events, and I remember being so elated when the official Pokemon UA-cam Channel posted the full version online several months back. And it's super exciting to hear that you've gotten so involved with the TCG lately! I've never played the TCG competitively (was previously a Yu-Gi-Oh player), but I've always loved the Pre-Release events in particular, since they help to level the playing field between amateurs like myself and competitive players who would otherwise have stacked decks. 😅 Kali and I watch a good deal of VCG on UA-cam (again, via the official Pokemon channel), and sometimes we'll check out the TCG matches, too (RIP Pokken Tournament, btw). It's always so cool to see these high-level matches, and I love the significant increase in production value that Pokemon has been putting into their streamed matches lately. It would be so hype to see your name appear among those players in the Regional events, but regardless, I appreciate you mentioning your recent involvement with the TCG! Ah man, I'm so psyched that you noticed the 3 OG protagonists in the video! 😁 Kali and I were really hoping people would get excited to see Blue, Green, and Red being featured in their grown-up, reimagined designs, each representing a different branch of competitive play. I actually started this remix back in December, but since it wasn't directly from a video game, I wasn't sure if I'd ultimately end up releasing it on the channel. However, as Kali and I realized that this milestone was within reach this year, it felt like the perfect opportunity to upload it as an extra remix during the month that it happened. And I couldn't be happier that you saw the intent here exactly as we had hoped people would - that it's really the beginning of the next step in the journey. She and I, being longtime fans of the anime series, are always reminded of how each episode ended with "...as the journey continues!" and we thought it'd be a propos to do the same here. I want to keep making remix videos in partnership with her and lots of people in the VGM community, and there is really so much to look forward to! That piano is one of my favorites to use in more atmospheric settings - it's the "Dream Piano" preset from FLEX, and I love how it has a shimmering pad layer alongside a distant-sounding piano base. One of the synths is another FLEX staple for me, called "Dream Pack", and one of the pad sounds is "Thermosphere", yet again from FLEX. That VST put in a lot of work here! And thank you for mentioning the percussive elements, too - I wanted to create a sort of old-school hip-hop sound here, to have it be reminiscent of songs from the era in which the series first debuted. It's very high praise to hear that you felt the overall production was so polished - thank you! :D Kali and I really appreciate your feedback on the video elements, and it's encouraging to hear that you felt the visuals were a strong point here! She created the entire video herself, and I was honestly amazed at both the sheer effort she put forth and the skill she displayed in learning how to automate and create custom animations on the fly. At some point, I want to start using some of the Adobe programs (primarily After Effects) in tandem with the ZGEV, so I'll definitely be looking to her for guidance, seeing as how she was able to become so proficient with the program in a matter of weeks. Hehe, I figured this might be a surprise, since this is the first time in nearly 4 years that I've uploaded a second remix in the same month. To be honest, it really took a lot out of Kali and I, and I'm struggling to play catch-up now, but we couldn't be happier with how this turned out, and we're just overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and support that you and several others have shown. I think the next big milestone (whatever it may be) is quite some time away - likely years from now - so she and I will hopefully have plenty of time to plan for if/when that happens.
I really can't put into words what it means to know that you'll be there to cheer me on for future milestones and celebrations - and the very same to you, my friend! I predicted at the start of 2023 that it would be a big year for all of us, but I think 2024 is turning out to be that year, as I see you and many others in the community growing quickly, and a lot of people seem to be reaching significant milestones, getting nominated for awards, and having huge responses for some of their videos... and we're still only in the first half of the year!

This remix style is like an old-school hip-hop sound, it reminds me of the older Pokémon anime soundtracks! It definitely sounds like it came straight out of a Pokémon anime soundtrack CD! It sounds super professional and high-quality. All the instruments blend perfectly together, and I love the atmospheric piano and pads in the background, it really gives this a calm and uplifting feel. The vocals are mixed perfectly too!

I'm thrilled beyond measure to hear that say that you felt it was reminiscent of old-school hip-hop, like from the mid-to-late 90's - and particularly from a Pokemon anime soundtrack. As someone who grew up listening to "2 B.A. Master" and whatever other few CD's I could get my OST-loving hands on, it makes me feel so proud and realized to have that precise comparison be drawn! 😊 I really like the original instrumentation for this song, but once I realized that easy, accessible vocal extraction was a thing (via an AMAZING software called Ultimate Vocal Remover V5 - highly recommended!) I knew that it was an opportunity to remix it in this style that would be nostalgic for me - and, I hoped, other people, too! Again, your specific remarks regarding the style just have me grinning ear to ear!
It's very high praise to hear that you felt everything was well-mixed! That atmospheric piano is one of my favorites - called "Dream Piano" in one of FL Studio's native VSTs, FLEX. It has a beautiful shimmering pad sound to complement the distant, heavenly piano articulations, and it's quickly become a favorite of mine. And thank you for mentioning the vocal mixing, too! To be honest, the fact that they were already super-high quality right out of the box made them easy to work with, and I couldn't believe how cleanly the Ultimate Vocal Remover extracted them. It only required a small amount of cleanup and processing to get the vocals to sound like they did in the original. I don't necessarily want to set a new precedent for myself, but I've really developed a strong liking for creating new instrumentation for songs with the original extracted vocals. I'm definitely excited to take this approach again! ^_^

As an adept video creator who always goes above and beyond with his visualizers, you know all too well how much of a labor of love it is to work on detailed, interactive visuals. Kali really went all-out here, and I am so impressed with how everything came out. Massive props to her for creating every single thing in the video, and this literally could not have come to fruition if she didn't take on the entirety of the task herself. I originally was going to have her handle just the text animations, but then she got really into it and started learning and utilizing new skills to create multi-layered custom animations for the artwork she created of Blue, Green, and Red. In truth, I'm a bit wary that her video has set a new precedent for this channel, but we're both hoping that people will see this as a special occasion, and not the new standard. 😅 Of course, we'll still give each remix video everything we've got, with the time and resources we have available!

This remix is so AMAZING! I am blown away by the overall power, balance, cleanliness, and sheer beauty that's displayed here! Every instrument here is mixed so well that I would not have second guessed this to be from a professional producer who knows exactly what he's doing, and that's exactly what the case is! It is unreal to see how far you've come to where you are now. Your music has always been phenomenal, with many productions that I'd consider perfect. Yet, every single remix you release, your production skills never fail to continually grow and progress. There are no bounds with how far you can go.

Ah man, I wish you could have seen Kali's reaction when she read your comment - I think "😊" is a pretty good representation, but I want to tell you straight-up that your remarks regarding the visuals and our teamwork have brought us both a great deal of joy! I know that when all was said and done, it took Kali upwards of 50+ hours to design, illustrate, animate, and edit every aspect of the visuals. Considering her process is much more efficient than mine, that's equivalent to, well... a decade spent in the ZGEV probably. 😂 She's been learning different programs in the Adobe Suite, and I eventually plan to start using After Effects and Premiere in tandem with the ZGEV once I have a computer that can handle it. Tangents aside, she really went all-out here, and to see her work be met with such enthusiasm and praise makes those efforts feel realized!

Like with the Ashley's Song remix last year, I used the Ultimate Vocal Remover software (highly recommended, by the way!) to extract the vocals from the original, then did a bit of cleanup, processing, and timing adjustment to get them to fit with the new instrumentation. But honestly, the raw extracted vocals were really good to begin with, so it made the mixing process quite a bit easier, and more enjoyable, too.
Ah, Kali and I are delighted to hear that you liked the visuals so much, and thanks for saying so! Complete credit goes to Kali for the visuals here, and she really went all-out with the designs, animations, and edits. Of course, the video is intended to be a milestone celebration, but it also pays homage to the Pokemon series and the various ways it can be enjoyed. And it was also a chance for Kali to illustrate the ideas she had for grown-up versions of Blue, Green, and Red! 😁

And this piece is no exception! I quite enjoyed all of the elements that were carefully and deliberately executed to create such an epic sounding remix such as this. Pokémon is really good at creating epic moments for every type of game they’re apart of, and I see no better fitting piece to represent the World Championships. And to top it off, you’ve really done it justice with this remix! As an aside, I’ve recently REALLY gotten into the TCG, so it was a pleasant surprise to see this pop up in the notifications!
Edit: I totally forgot to mention the new logo, it really fits! I love the updated design, it keeps it fresh! And I do apologize for not mentioning it originally, but seriously Kali knocked it out of the park for this remix. I love how the main 3 avenues for Pokémon were represented by the first main 3 protagonists. So fitting!! Overall it was REALLY easy on the eyes, and y’all did a wonderful job with this one!

It's incredibly heartening to hear that you feel the overall style of music on this channel is one that's worth coming back to - thank you for that! It does feel like the channel has really picked up steam over the past several months, and I've been fortunate to have some remixes that received a strong and sustained response.
I'm thrilled that you liked the instrumentation and sound style here - it feels nice to have all the details in the instrumental parts be noticed and made note of. :D One thing I've really grown to love is taking extracted vocals and creating new supporting instrumentation for them - it's something that I want to get better at, and I'm trying to take more of an approach of "setting the stage" for the vocals, rather than using a lot of melody overlap, which I did in previous vocal remixes.
I agree entirely that Pokemon does a phenomenal job of creating these huge moments that are sometimes heavy, sometimes uplifting, and always memorable! This is my favorite original piece that Pokemon has ever created for one of its major events, and I remember being so elated when the official Pokemon UA-cam Channel posted the full version online several months back.
And it's super exciting to hear that you've gotten so involved with the TCG lately! I've never played the TCG competitively (was previously a Yu-Gi-Oh player), but I've always loved the Pre-Release events in particular, since they help to level the playing field between amateurs like myself and competitive players who would otherwise have stacked decks. 😅 Kali and I watch a good deal of VCG on UA-cam (again, via the official Pokemon channel), and sometimes we'll check out the TCG matches, too (RIP Pokken Tournament, btw). It's always so cool to see these high-level matches, and I love the significant increase in production value that Pokemon has been putting into their streamed matches lately. It would be so hype to see your name appear among those players in the Regional events, but regardless, I appreciate you mentioning your recent involvement with the TCG!
Ah man, I'm so psyched that you noticed the 3 OG protagonists in the video! 😁 Kali and I were really hoping people would get excited to see Blue, Green, and Red being featured in their grown-up, reimagined designs, each representing a different branch of competitive play. Your excitement for that really makes her efforts feel realized, and we appreciate the kind feedback regarding the artwork and animations! She created the entire video in the Adobe Suite, and I'm planning to start learning some of the programs, like After Effects, to use in tandem with my beloved ZGEV for future visualizers.
Thank you also for noting the updated icon! Kali had that completed a few months back, but we figured it would be good to wait for a significant milestone to make the changeover. I'm hoping that, in a small way, it'll represent an evolution of the channel - the same heart and passion, but (hopefully) some new techniques and a bit of an upgrade - Finizen and Palafin come to mind as an analogy! 🐬

Ah, I'm tickled that you noticed and pointed out the Pallet Town reference! I was really hoping it would catch someone's ear. 😁 Somehow, it seemed to fit in really nicely with the rap section, and it felt like a fitting way to bring things full circle and bring to mind how the journey starts. It's important for people to always reflect on their beginnings and put in perspective how far they've come. In a literal sense, I'm reminded of Red and Blue, and how they became Champions, coming from humble beginnings.
I think everyone who has a dream they're truly passionate about deserves not only opportunities to pursue that goal, but to also receive support and motivation, because it can be incredibly difficult when it feels like it's you vs. the world. Thank you very much for the kind words regarding Kali's artwork and video production! Originally, she was going to create the text animations, since that's usually the most time-consuming part for me to work on, but then she went and did the entire thing in different programs across the Adobe suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, Media Encoder). I provided some feedback here and there, but ultimately, it was entirely her design and automation, and I just adore this video she made. ^_^ Thanks also for mentioning the timing of the animations, as I know that took a lot of tweaking and fine-tuning to get just right. Somehow, she never got sick of listening to Victory Road during the 60+ hours she put into the video! 😅
It makes my heart happy - and Kali's, too! - to know that you support she and I as a couple in both art and life - thank you!! This is such a wonderful way to cap off the 1K journey, with an uplifting, dare I say, victorious remix of a track that evokes nothing more than not only the end to one path, but the beginning of another! I love how beautifully the piano compliments the synthetic elements and the percussion and all the added polish really makes this something special!
And holy man, Kali has really blown the visuals out of the water with everything looking so clean and beautiful! The art is absolutely adorable, the lyrics look amazing and it all screams professional!

It means an enormous amount to hear that you feel this was a fitting selection for this milestone, and thanks for saying so! I actually started this remix back in December, but since it wasn't directly from a video game, I wasn't sure if I'd ultimately end up releasing it on the channel. However, as Kali and I realized that this milestone was within reach this year, it felt like the perfect opportunity to upload it as an extra remix during the month that it happened.
And I couldn't be happier that you saw the intent here exactly as we had hoped people would - that it's really the beginning of the next step in the journey. She and I, being longtime fans of the anime series, are always reminded of how each episode ended with "...as the journey continues!" and we thought it'd be a propos to do the same here. I want to keep making remix videos in partnership with her and lots of people in the VGM community, and there is really so much to look forward to!
Thanks for your kind remarks regarding the instrumentation! That piano is one of my favorites to use in more atmospheric settings - it's the "Dream Piano" preset from FLEX, and I love how it has a shimmering pad layer alongside a distant-sounding piano base. One of the synths is another FLEX staple for me, called "Dream Pack", and one of the pad sounds is "Thermosphere", yet again from FLEX. That VST put in a lot of work here! And thank you for mentioning the percussive elements, too - I wanted to create a sort of old-school hip-hop sound here, to have it be reminiscent of songs from the era in which the series first debuted. It's very high praise to hear that you felt the overall production was so polished - thank you! :D
Kali and I really appreciate your feedback on the video elements, and it's encouraging to hear that you felt the visuals were a strong point here! She created the entire video herself, and I was honestly amazed at both the sheer effort she put forth and the skill she displayed in learning how to automate and create custom animations on the fly. At some point, I want to start using some of the Adobe programs (primarily After Effects) in tandem with the ZGEV, so I'll definitely be looking to her for guidance, seeing as how she was able to become so proficient with the program in a matter of weeks. Tangents aside, we're delighted that you enjoyed the artwork here, and that you felt the lyrics had a professional look!

I think it both helps and hurts that the original theme is called "Victory Road", because people probably aren't going to be searching for it by title, and if they are, it's likely they're looking for one of the many identically-named themes from the main series games. Hopefully people aren't disappointed if they click this remix! 😅 But I agree that the more underrated themes are often the best, and you definitely have a penchant for both seeking them out and covering them. There have been quite a few instances where I've been introduced to a new song, or even OST, through VGM remixes, and it's one of the very many things I love about this community.

I wasn't sure if very many people would be familiar with the original, but ultimately I hoped that there'd be at least a few folks who know and really like this track! This is easily my favorite Pokemon song that isn't from a video game, and I love that it has kind of a late 90's hip-hop sound style... honestly, it feels like it'd be right at home on the "2 B.A. Master" CD! 😁 I really hope someone else remixes this song, too, because it's one of the most underrated Pokemon themes, and I'd love to hear more creative iterations of it!

I love the original theme, and I love that it has loads of upbeat and positive energy, as you mentioned - and to hear it called beautiful, even, makes me really happy! I actually started this project awhile back (like 5 months ago) and worked on it intermittently since then.
