Ah man, thank _you_ for the opportunity to work together, and for your willingness to work on this particular track from the Sonic series! It was so much fun to work on this, and I honestly wasn't sure if I'd be involved in the production of a Sega Genesis remix, were it not for this collaboration - I'm so glad it came to fruition! I really appreciate all the effort and care you put into the remix - especially in spite of how busy your schedule has been - and your continual feedback on my parts really helped me to stay on track and synergize with yours. And on a personal level, you have such an encouraging and positive manner, and I'm glad to have gotten the chance to get better acquainted through this project! :D Thanks also for the kind words regarding Kali's art! She wanted to go with a classic style here to complement the neo-retro sound style, and we're both delighted to hear that you enjoyed the designs in the video. 🎨 Once again, thank you for your interest in collaborating. Take care, and I'll see you around, mon ami! 💛
WOOOO yeah! An instant chill just dashed right down my spine hearing that intro!! I smashed the like button so fast, and as I'm listening while writing this comment, my face is grinning from ear to ear! Is this your first Sonic remix? If it is you could not have pulled off the vibe any better, this is perfection! I don't often hear mashups, but I can absolutely say this remix is amazing, sspecially the transition to Star Light Zone at 0:52, and I _love_ the use of that glitchy visual 😎 Fantastic work to you & Super Matt Boy; and I can't wait for another Sonic cover from you, Equalyze!! 🙌
Aw man, thanks so much, Player2!! I'm delighted - and humbled - to hear that this remix put a smile on your face from the get-go, and I tremendously appreciate both your glowing review of it and your support 👍 of the video! The original intro is so iconic and instantly recognizable, so I wanted to make sure that it came out swinging! And in a parallel concept, I really love that older games had a way of just getting you right into the gameplay, without overly drawn-out tutorials or a minutes-long (unskippable) opening cutscene. That isn't to say that there isn't a time and place for meatier exposition, but sometimes it's nice to just dive right in, and I can also appreciate when music does just that! In any case, thanks so much for your specific remarks regarding the intro segment! This is the first Sonic remix I've worked on, and I'm so psyched to have been able to collaborate with Super Matt Boy on it! This project was a lot of fun to work on, and I am already looking forward to the next Sonic remix on this channel, however far in the future that may be. 😁 It's so heartening that you feel my foray into the world of Sega music was a hit! Thank you very much for mentioning the Star Light Zone segment, and I am thrilled that you enjoyed it! Major kudos go to Super Matt Boy for the (brilliant) idea of incorporating SLZ into the arrangement as a bridge between iterations of Green Hill Zone, and it appears to have gone over especially well, which I couldn't be happier about! And thank you also for pointing out the visual transitions - FL Studio's ZGameEditor Visualizer has a whole array of wild transitional effects that I've been itching to try out, so in tandem with Kali's pixelated color spirals, it felt like the perfect opportunity! Again, I appreciate so much that you've taken the time to listen and comment on my last few remixes with such care and intent, and my apologies for taking so long to respond. There will definitely be more Sonic remixes in the future, and it means the world to know that you'll be looking forward to them! 💛
Y'all snapped with this one. The transitions were so smooth! It's impossible to listen to this and not be happy. Came back to find your channel after listening to a Mesmonium track. I hope you keep making music.
Wow, thanks so much, Mash Quests! 😄 I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed this remix, and I really appreciate your taking the time to write such thoughtful feedback! Thank you for mentioning the transitions in particular - Super Matt Boy and I really wanted to make sure that the segues into and out of Star Light Zone were effective, and your praise makes me feel like we hit the mark there! It's heartening to hear, also, that this has a happy, upbeat energy, as Matt and I had hoped. ^_^ Ah, man, Mesmonium has long been - and continues to be - a person I really admire in the VGM remix community. To be mentioned alongside him is quite flattering! And yes, I hope to keep making music and sharing it on UA-cam for a very long time to come! Doing this brings me joy and fulfillment, and someone's going to have to pull me away kicking and screaming for this to end... not happening! 😆 Thanks again for the awesome comment, and I hope you'll enjoy what's to come!
Aw man, you're too kind! Thank you so much, Chillboy!! This comment warmed my heart to read, and it brings a big smile to my face, knowing that you enjoyed the remix so much. 😊 I know that music from the Sonic series ranks highly for you, so it means a ton to hear that this remix was right up your alley! And thank you for the kind words of congratulations! Reaching such a milestone still feels a bit surreal, in truth, and I'm immensely grateful for all the support and encouragement that you and others in the VGM community have provided over the years. Thank you again! 💛
Hey Equalyze, I listened to your remix twice before. First of all, I'm excited to see you collaborating with other people. Especially since I know Matt who I met on a Discord server (plus he's French like me: really easy to communicate !). Collaborations are always cool because they create connections between remixers. Honestly, the VGM community is my favorite on the entire internet. Once again, your remix is superb. As in all your collaborations, we can clearly distinguish your style. And here, we can also see Matt's. I'm almost certain it was him who added the more "pixelated" sounds, because I know he likes "old" video game music. As for the visuals, I'm not even impressed with the quality anymore. I got so used to it :D Seriously, keep it up! Your remixes are always so good. Nice job you two!
Hey, Guimu!! Thank you very much for the detailed and uplifting feedback - it's always such a joy to read and respond to your comments, and I very much appreciate the time and effort you spend writing them. ^_^ I had a feeling you were acquainted with Super Matt Boy, as I knew both of you are from France, and I had seen some of your comments on his channel, as well - that's cool that you guys already knew each other! And I couldn't agree more that collaborations are a great way to get to know people in the community better - not only is it interesting and useful for learning new production techniques, but it often helps people to become better friends in the process. Everyone I've worked with so far has been delightful, and I look forward to future opportunities, as well! And yes, this community truly is the best out there, I feel - it makes my heart swell with pride when I think about how well people treat each other here. 💛 That's awesome to hear that you were able to distinguish the parts that Super Matt and I worked on, and it's encouraging to hear that you feel our styles have developed enough that you can make that distinction! Indeed, Matt worked on the authentic-sounding Sega Genesis sounds, using a VST called "Genny", in addition to helping massively with the arrangement and incorporating some key SFX here. His love for retro video games and VGM is really admirable, and it directly inspired a lot of my instrument choices, too (like the chip drums for Star Light Zone, for instance). Hehe, your comment about the visuals made me laugh a bit, and it's humbling to hear that you feel the visuals have set the bar high - thank you so much for that! I'll keep trying to make use of new effects and animations with each video, as that's an aspect I want to improve in, as well! Thank you again for your thoughtful comment, and for your support of Super Matt Boy and myself - the VGM community is an even better place because of you! 💫
Killed this!!!!! Sooooo good guys!! This came out so incredibly polished and I always love the little in game sound effects you add, makes it have such charm! Super great job!!🔥🔥🔥
Thank you so much, Sculpted Nostalgia!! Your feedback always means a tremendous amount to me, and I'm psyched that you enjoyed this one so much! ^_^ It's very heartening to hear that you felt the remix video had a high degree of polish - that's quite a compliment! I'm delighted that you liked the SFX incorporated throughout, as well, and thanks for saying so! Super Matt Boy added some key sound effects, like the spin dash, "ring loss", and transitional sound used at 1:26... naturally, I couldn't resist adding a few of my own to complement his! 😁 Seriously, I can't express in words alone how much it means that you always take an interest in each new remix and comment with such enthusiasm and positivity. I hope you've been well, my friend, and as always, I'll be looking forward to your next video, as well! 💛
@@Equalyze dude it’s my pleasure!! I love checking in on your new work, you always deliver! You’re so underrated tho, but seriously keep making high quality remixes like these and you’ll have the following you deserve in no time! And thanks, it’s coming along haha, thanks for the interest!
@@sculptednostalgia Ah man, it warms my heart so much to know that you look forward to new remixes on this channel! Honestly, I've been really fortunate to have gotten as much support as I have over the years, and although these videos may not be reaching a huge audience (though sometimes it feels big to me), the interactions with people in the community mean the world to me. 😊 And yeah, absolutely! I'll keep my eyes peeled for any potential teaser Shorts or Community posts on the horizon! Thanks again, SculptedNostalgia! 💛
very nice professional-sounding stuff as always, love to hear from you. and youre right, i am surprised that this was kalis first time doing pixel art, good dithering and low color usage 🐱👍
Aw, thanks so much, Broomietunes! That is really high praise to hear, especially coming from you, that the remix has a professional quality to it. And it means a lot that you enjoy the remixes on this channel, too - thank you! Kali and I are grateful for your encouraging feedback regarding the pixel art! She just explained to me about dithering, and I can see how that and the restrain on color usage is important for creating pixelated designs that look clean and hold up well. I think it's a skill that people take for granted, since it appears easy on the surface, but getting pixel art designs to look just right seems quite challenging, especially with larger objects. Thanks again for taking the time to listen, and for your kind remarks on the music and art! 😺
Wow!!! 🤩 I'm blown away by this! A complete masterpiece!! This is, no joke, the BEST Green Hill Zone remix I've ever heard!! The transitions between the different sections are seamless! And wow, that final section with the key change and melody variation was euphoric! I was jamming to this like Sonic wearing headphones while skateboarding lol 😆 The instruments and choice of synths are perfect. The artwork and video production is beautiful and fits perfectly with the music, I especially liked the seamless transitions! This really looks and sounds like a professional quality work! 😃 It's incredible how you keep improving, and I see that you're getting close to 1K subscribers! Congrats! Maybe there will be a special video for that milestone? I'll be looking forward to seeing it if there is! 😄 Keep up the amazing work. You're not just a skilled musician and video producer, you're one of the nicest and most supportive persons I've ever met and I hope that you will always be a positive influence like this, kind words and gestures mean a lot to others. Keep being awesome. 👍😃
Man, your comments are always such a sincere joy to read and respond to - thank you so much, Glitchman!! 😄 I really can't put into words (and believe me, I'm a huge fan of words) what it means to hear that this is your favorite Green Hill Zone remix, especially considering how many incredible covers there are on the internet. To say that it makes me feel special is a major understatement! I'm thrilled to hear that you felt the transitions were well-executed here, and thanks for saying so! Super Matt Boy played a big role in helping the transitions to come together, and the Star Light Zone interlude was the result of his creativity and familiarity with the series' music. It's awesome to hear that you enjoyed that key change leading into the final section, as well as the melody variations in "Act 2", as well! For remixes I've worked on that used an "A-B-A" format, I always want to make sure that the repeat of the "A" section is noticeably distinct, and one of my favorite things to do is to implement a key change in the middle section, so when the A section repeat re-emerges, it sounds immediately different. And wow, seeing you describe it as euphoric, even, puts a big smile on my face - thank you! The Act 2 part has richer instrumentation, with more sustained bass sounds and denser chords, so I had hoped that it would have sort of an exciting and empowering feeling. 😁 I love the visual you've used to describe your feelings listening to the song, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't get into character when listening to different OSTs and remixes! That's one of the very many things I love about this community - everyone is all-in with it, and you can tell there's just pure passion at work here. Thanks also for mentioning the visuals, and I appreciate that you always make specific mention of the video elements! You're very intentional about your own remix videos, and I admire that you always look for and point out aspects of coordination and theming in other people's visuals, too.I honestly wish I had more time to work on the video, but it came down to the very last hour, and I had finished rendering the video mere minutes before uploading it to UA-cam... like always. 😅 Honestly, I have been really fortunate to have received so much support over the last few years, and it's wild to think that such a major milestone is within reach. I've had a lot of lucky breaks along the way, like having a few remixes played by The8BitDrummer, receiving shout-outs in Community posts and video descriptions, and being able to collaborate with so many talented and generous people. And above all, Kali's artwork has been a huge part of the appeal - I don't want to discount that I've been granted a major advantage most other remixers would kill for! I actually do have a remix planned for that potential milestone, that I started working on months ago and I realized that it would be thematically fitting for such an occasion. If I can manage to create an extra video to accompany it - and I really hope that I can - there will be an extra video around that time! Thank you for asking about that! ^_^ It warms my heart so much to know that you think that of me, personally, and as a musician. Thank you so much!! 😭 And likewise, you're a person whose skills, creativity, passion, and character I admire beyond measure. It takes a very special person to manage putting one's heart and energy into every production, while also supporting other people's creations wholeheartedly, in the way that you do. I definitely can't guarantee that each remix will be more polished than the last, but I can promise you (and everyone else who reads this) that I will _always_ put gratitude and kindness above all else. 💛 Thanks for everything, my friend!
Wait, WHAT!?! Equalyze, this production is absolutely insane on every level imaginable! I was enjoying such an amazing rendition of green hill zone and the next thing I know, I'm jamming to STAR LIGHT ZONE!?!?! You, Kali, and supmattboy are on fire! The transitions to and from star light zone are just PERFECT! From melodic changes, key changes, and visual transitions, the two songs go together so well! The instrumentation is superb, the percussive rhythms are phenomenal, this is such an exhilarating experience the whole way through! Kali's art is stellar as always! From the rotating background, to spinning rings, to even spinning sonic! Thank you for another joyous production! :D
Thanks so much, Steel! Man, your comments are always such a genuine delight to read and respond to, and I really can't express sufficient feedback for your comments with words alone (but I'll try)! It's so encouraging to hear that you felt the overall production came across so well here - thanks for saying that! Instrument selection is usually one of the aspects I ruminate over the most, so I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed the instrumentation. And thank you for the specific remarks regarding the percussion and drum rhythms! The straightforward beat of the original allowed for some fun mix-ups, and I enjoyed using some chip drums, as well as incorporating some half-time rhythms. You and countless others in the community have really helped me to take to heart the importance of having dynamic, punchy, and detailed percussive elements! Ah man, I'm psyched that you enjoyed the Star Light Zone segment so much! Complete props go to Super Matt Boy for the idea. When we were discussing the song structure, he suggested referencing SLZ as an interlude between verses of GHZ for some extra variance, and it turned out to be a big hit! And he really infused the track with retro goodness with the Genesis-styled riffs throughout (using a VST called "Genny", in case you're interested), as well as some added details and SFX. He really did a fantastic job with his parts! Thank you for mentioning the transitional elements, as well! Key changes are something I really enjoy incorporating into an arrangement, and Super Matt Boy was all-in with that idea, too. He had the idea of using that sound effect (heard at 1:27) to transition back into GHZ, which then led to the accompanying visual transition. It's kind of neat, how a singular idea can end up having a domino effect in the music and/or visuals, and I feel like that happens a lot with remixing! Kali and I are both very grateful for your specific mention of the visual elements, and we're glad you enjoyed the pixel art here! Now that you mention it, there was a lot of spinning in this one... I definitely made liberal use of the rotate parameter! 😅 Neither Kali nor I have played very many Sonic games, so we tried to focus on creating a scene with a lot of movement, since the series is known for having such fast and lively gameplay. This video was definitely a lot of fun to work on! Again, I really appreciate your taking the time to comment with such detail and enthusiasm! I really can't put into words how good it is to see you able to be so active in the community again, and your recent Bowser's Theme remix has been a daily listen for me since you uploaded it. This month has been a grind for me at work, but I'm hoping to have an opportunity to comment in-depth on it real soon. Until then, my friend! 💛
@@SuperJMN Thank you so much for all of your thoughtful and encouraging comments, SuperJMN - it means a ton that you've taken the time to write all of them! 😊 Major credit goes to Super Matt Boy for assisting with that transition, and we're really proud of how it came out! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed it so much, too, and thanks for expressing that! :D
Sonic is really iconic, probably has one of the best Sega Game soundtracks of all time this is like a highly anticipated track to remix from this series! Again your musical skills are getting better and better I would definitely take notes haha! The precussion is very intense reminds me of the area! And the synths and other small SFX and vocal like clips? Sound absolutely insane it’s good to finally get more notifications from this channel in my inbox! Hopefully this channel stays creating for the years to come fantastic job!
Thank you, Poke&Remix!! It's always a genuine delight to read and respond to your comments, and I really appreciate your taking the time to listen so intently and write detailed feedback. I haven't played many Sega games, in truth (definitely less than 10 in total), but Sonic the Hedgehog was a game that's just too iconic to pass up, and I agree that the series has timeless music that's just really well done. I was excited that Super Matt Boy was on board to remix this theme in particular, because it's one of the few tracks from the series that I'm very familiar with... then again, who isn't? 😁 Wow, it means a great deal to hear that you feel my music production skills are continuing to improve - thank you for that! I always want to keep learning and improving, little by little, and that kind of feedback is incredibly motivating. Honestly, I think every one of us VGM remixers can benefit from listening to - and I mean _really_ listening to - each other's work, and the fact that a good number of people do just that really speaks well for the community. I couldn't be prouder to be a part of it! It's awesome to hear that you enjoyed the percussive elements here, and thanks for saying so! I was lucky to find some more retro-sounding samples, and as soon as I heard that snare, it just clicked right away. I also enjoyed using the bit-crushed drums for the Star Light Zone section, and that's definitely an approach I want to use more often, especially for older game OSTs. Big props go to Super Matt Boy for many of the SFX, as well as the Sega-sounding synths. He used a VST called "Genny" to get those authentic sounds, and I definitely want to try it out myself sometime! Man, I really can't thank you enough for your continual encouragement and support over the years. I really want to make remixes for as long as I'm feasibly able to, which I hope is a very long time. This is the most passionate I've ever been about any activity, and being able to share in it with you and so many other people in the community makes it incredibly fulfilling. Here's to hoping for many more years of VGM remixing! 🌟
Ah, I'm psyched to hear that, really! Some of my favorite video game OSTs and remixes have that very same effect for me, and knowing that this remix creates that same feeling in you means a ton. Thanks so much, Daisy23! ^_^
I love the retro feeling of this remix, paired with the fantastic visuals! I don't know much about Sonic, but the transitions between Star Light and Green Hill Zone were fantastic, at first I didn't even notice the transitions hahahah. Props to you, Matt and Kali for creating such a vibrant and energetic piece!
Thanks so much, DarlingJack! I am super psyched to hear that you liked the remix so much - especially in spite of not being too familiar with the Sonic series. In truth, I'm also quite inexperienced with the games - and the Sonic universe as a whole - but Matt's experience as a longtime fan really came through in a big way here. That's awesome to hear that the transitions came across so seamlessly, and I appreciate the specific feedback regarding that aspect! The whole idea of incorporating Star Light Zone came about as a result of Super Matt Boy's recognizing synergy between the two themes, and I was all-in with it, as it's always a lot of fun to include elements - or even entire verses - of other songs when arranging, as you know all too well. 😁 Kali and I are grateful for your kind feedback on the visuals, as well! It was a neat experience, working with Kali's pixel art designs, as well as the GIF of the spinning ring that she created. I was really surprised when she had not one, but _two_ sets of scenery prepared, and it made for a fun challenge, working them into the video. Thanks again for your thoughtful remarks, my friend - your comments are always a joy to read! 💛
great work you two! sounds incredibly professional man, Im so jealous😭. Also the structure is great, having both the originall theme and also a cool reinterpretation in the second section
Adrián! It's really good to see you, man. :D Thanks so much for listening to this remix, and for taking the time to comment so thoughtfully. Your feedback is always a joy to read! To hear the sound be described as professional is both flattering and humbling - thank you! I always try to think about key moments in my musical journey that have helped the sound improve noticeably, and some of those "level ups" were characterized by gaining access to new sound libraries, drum/percussion samples, and knowledge that I didn't have previously. Splice has been an incredible resource for high-quality drum samples and VST presets, as well as the other plugins in FL Studio (e.g., Morphine, Poizone) that I didn't have at the start. It means more than I can say, really, to hear that it's all been making a collective difference, and I'll keep working towards further improvement with each passing year! Thanks also for your kind remarks regarding the arrangement! All props go to Super Matt Boy for the idea of incorporating Star Light Zone, and his knowledge of the series' music was key here. His added flourishes and melody variations also made for a much richer arrangement, and it was a real pleasure to be able to work alongside him here. Thank you again for the lovely comment, and I hope all's been well with you. Take care! 🙂
Had a big dumb smile on my face when the Star Light Zone segment came up, one of my favorite tracks from the franchise as a whole and I feel like it doesn't get enough attention. Kudos on spinning Green Hill Zone into a great remix, both of you!
Bardometer! Thanks so much for the thoughtful and enthusiastic comment! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this remix so much, and reading your comment put very much the same kind of smile on my face. 😁 Complete kudos go to Super Matt Boy for the idea of incorporating Star Light Zone into the arrangement. When we were discussing the song structure, he noted that Star Light Zone would make for a great interlude between verses of Green Hill Zone, and he couldn't have been more right. I'm really happy to hear that one of your favorite pieces in the entire series made an appearance here, and your positive feedback on it makes me feel like Super Matt and I hit the mark there - thank you!! Hehe, I love the wordplay you used regarding the remix, and again, it means a ton that you liked how it turned out! Thanks again for the wonderful comment! 😊
This was an amazing collaboration EQ! I love how you're able to add something extra to these games. It's always so fun to hear it in each remix. This one was really nice, I especially love the percussion - it's so catchy and pleasant to hear. And the transition was just unexpected but damn it just blends so well! Overall the track has so much energy and optimism just like the original. But what really makes it stand out is the attention to detail in the sounds and visuals. It really brings me back to those days of bumbling around in those games. I really think you're onto something with these remixes, every month they get better and better. Not to mention introducing us to new music as well. And to seal the deal the art evolves as well! I don't think I've seen any other remixers doing that so I hope more people catch onto this channel 😁 I see you're close to a certain milestone btw. Between You, Void, and Star it's been great seeing your progressions. Hopefully you'll hit it soon enough! Keep up the great work! 💎 *Goes back to smashing monitors for rings*
Thank you so much, Titan!! I'm always blown away by the level of effort and creativity you put into your comments, and it means more than I can say that you always take the time to do that. I'm thrilled to hear that you feel there's always something new and unique in each remix that adds to the original, and thanks for saying so! I'm psyched that you enjoyed the drums especially! I was lucky to find some solid drum samples early in the process that had a punchy, retro sound, and the chip drums were a lot of fun to work with, too. I appreciate your mention of the transitions and middle segment, as well, and major props go to Super Matt Boy for the idea of incorporating Star Light Zone between verses of Green Hill Zone. His knowledge of the series' music really allowed us to come up with an interlude that Sonic fans would recognize and (we hope) be excited by! And it's heartening to hear that you feel the vibrant and optimistic tone of the original was kept intact here - thanks for that feedback! :D I'll be honest: I've only played a few levels of the original (partly because I'm terrible at Sonic games - they're just too fast for me) so I tried to go with SFX that I recognized to complement what Matt added. But I knew that I definitely wanted to use the "gate" sound at least once in the remix, and that turned out exactly as I had hoped. And Kali really went all-out with her foray into pixel art, and I was so surprised when she showed me the entire scenes she created, with multiple layers and everything! She even made the custom spinning ring GIF, too, which was a lot of fun to integrate into the visuals. Thanks for noticing all the little details, as always! It means the world, truly, to hear that you feel the remix videos continue to improve here - thank you!! My goal always has been - and always will be - to improve gradually and continually, and it's so encouraging to see you say that there's been consistent improvement. You, more than anyone else, have helped me to expand my music and visuals, and I always feel especially motivated to try new things and venture outside my comfort zone when I think of the impact you've had on me, and how many new skills you've learned and honed in the past few years. Honestly, I have been really fortunate to have gotten this far, and it feels a bit unreal that such a milestone is within reach. Between receiving shout-outs from people in the community, having a few remixes featured in The8-BitDrummer's streams, and having several recent videos get more traction than usual, I've gotten quite a few lucky breaks over the past year. And yeah, Voidmoney's channel really picked up a lot of steam in the past few months, and I'm so pumped that he was able to get the UA-cam partner status he'd been pursuing! Likewise, Star Haven is really close to that coveted 1k mark, and I hope he can reach it soon! Thank you again for your wonderfully supportive and encouraging comments. I haven't been able to tune into many of your livestreams lately, but the projects you've been creating are so genuinely impressive, like the whole boss fight sequence you modeled and animated, as well as that 3D model of the celebration scene you built from scratch. And hey, you've been doing some great work in FL Studio, too! I hope to have opportunities in the near-future to write some meaty comments on your videos, once my workload becomes less... overwhelming. 😅 I'll see you soon, my friend! *What's the point of owning a flat-screen if you can only fit 1 ring inside?!*
Hey, Arcticanine! Thank _you_ for taking an interest in this remix, and for the positive feedback! It makes me so happy to know that you enjoy the music on this channel, and I really appreciate that you take the time to listen and comment. 😊
Thanks so much, Ryu!! That feedback means a lot, coming from you. :D I'm thrilled to hear that you felt the production was clean here, as a big goal of mine recently has been trying to create mixes that are less cluttered. Major props go to Super Matt Boy for the added details in this track, from the inclusion of Star Light Zone, to the harmonies and countermelodies heard in the main segments. I appreciate your specific mention of those added elements! Thanks again for the enthusiastic and uplifting comment! 😄
Ah, I'm psyched that you enjoyed that part - thank you! It's always fun to switch to half-time rhythms, and it felt like a fun way to provide some variation to set that section apart from the earlier iteration. I was worried that the heavier drums might feel a bit out of place, but I'm delighted to hear that it added to the excitement! 😁
Aw, thanks so much, Luigi Number One! Your feedback really means a lot to hear, especially given what a discerning ear you have for video game remixes and OSTs. It's very heartening to hear that you feel I'm improving, and I appreciate your saying so! My goal always has been, and always will be, to work towards continual improvement, and being able to work with talented artists like Super Matt Boy has been an important part of that endeavor. Thanks again for listening, and for taking the time to comment! :D
I always love a remix from you bro!! ❤ the synergy between you and Kali for the incredible art and video and you and other producers for the music!! Love the arrangement its absolute genius and the clasic sounds with up beat drums and sound structure make this so happy to listen to! You and Matt did an incredible job!! I always discover new amazing artists thanks to you. And your descriptions are always lovely!! This is such an amazing track Equalyze, Matt and Kali 😁 love the tune so much and the art is amazing as always!!
Thanks so much, Hanabi!! ^_^ I can't even put into words how much it warms my heart to know that you feel that way about my remixes. And as you know, collaborations are extra-special because it's so cool to see the abilities, ideas and efforts of multiple people come together for a single project. I'm psyched to hear that you felt the synergy here was tight, and I'm truly fortunate to have been able to work with such talented artists. I appreciate your specific remarks regarding the arrangement, and I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! Complete props go to Matt for the idea of incorporating Star Light Zone into the arrangement, as well as some of the melody variations and added countermelodies. I'm admittedly quite inexperienced with Sonic games in general, so his familiarity with the series was a huge asset here. And thanks also for mentioning the drums in particular! The drumming style here is a little different, because I wanted to go for a more retro kind of sound with a 90's-styled snare, and some peppy, but straightforward rhythms. I also thought it'd be fun to include some chip drums in the Star Light section for added retrofication! 😁 I'm so glad to hear that you've taken an interest in Super Matt Boy's music, as well, and I really can't express how much I appreciate that you always go out of your way to support the different people involved with each collaboration. I always say this, and I always mean it - you're a gem of a person, and a true blessing to the community. 💛 Thanks again for your wonderful comment, and I'll see you soon, my friend!
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO this is such a groove guys! Great work 💃 I love the Slarlight Zone reference too :) The riffs are also very satisfying and flow seamlessly with the melody. Art looks great too! Screw UA-cam for not showing me this day 1 lol 😠
Thanks so much, Vector!! It's always so exciting - and humbling - to receive feedback from the producer who played such an integral role in my getting into the world of VGM remixing. Your enthusiastic comment has me smiling from ear to ear, and I'm so psyched that you enjoyed our rendition of Green Hill Zone! 😊 I'm glad you liked the groove of this track, and the percussive elements were especially fun to work on here. That Star Light Zone reference was all thanks to Super Matt Boy's creative arrangement style, and he recognized synergy between the two pieces, being a longtime fan of the series. He also came up with the melody responses that are heard throughout both themes, and I love that he used the OG sound style for those parts (using a VST called "Genny", in case you're interested). It was a real privilege to be able to work on this with him. And thanks also for the kind words regarding the artwork! I always find pixel art so appealing and nostalgic, and I was amazed at how well the designs of Sonic, the rings, and the background elements came out, especially given that this was Kali's first time creating pixel art. We're both very grateful that you always mention the artwork specifically! Heh, UA-cam can be weird like that sometimes, but I hugely appreciate your interest in this track, and it's always a joy to read comments regardless of when a video is watched. Thanks again! 🌟
Thanks so much for pointing out that part of the arrangement! Whenever a section of a song repeats, I always try to make sure there's some kind of variation in the instrumentation, rhythm, key, melody, or some other combination of factors. Since these remixes are a bit on the shorter side, there's really no excuse not to make each section sound distinct! 😅 I noticed in your Green Hill Zone remix (and thanks for sharing that!) that you have a lot of variation, and with a much longer song length, too - I think it's awesome that you came up with so many creative variations of the theme, and again, I really appreciate that you mentioned that specific aspect in this remix!
Wow, what an amazing arrangement Equalyze and Matt! The flow and the energy I felt that carried through the song, it amplified the emotions that we all feel when we listen to this amazing classic. Love the sounds and the mix and master on this is so professional. Love the powerful feelings in the Act 2 part of the song, I dont think I ever heard that arrangement. Using iconic sounds and punchy rhythms. I want to do this cover one day too! Anyway another banger from Equalyze. I hope one day I can collab with you too if you think im worthy 😂 It would be a big honor and opportunity!
Kibatsu! Thank you so much, man!! I really appreciate your taking the time to listen with such intent and comment and length - it means a tremendous amount! 😊 I really appreciate your specific mention of the song flow and energy, as those were aspects that Matt and I wanted to be emphasized here. It's so heartening to hear that you felt that the Act 2 segment was uplifting and powerful - thank you! I was hoping that the slightly altered chord progression, melody variations, and warmer instrumentation would create those kinds of feelings, and I'm thrilled to hear that it did! Thanks also for your mention of the instruments and SFX used here - many of the retro sounds and sound effects were done by Super Matt Boy, and he really has a keen understanding of how to capture that retro sound in a modern remix! And your positive feedback regarding the mix and master are much appreciated, as well! I think you'd do an excellent job covering this song, and I'd be excited to hear it if you decided to cover it one day! Also, I'm humbled by your interest and collaborating, and I think it would be great to work together on a future remix! To be transparent, I've had a couple other people mention that they were interested in collaborating, and I really want to have all of these team-ups come to fruition. My remaining remixes for 2024 are actually all planned out at this time, but I would love to work on a VGM track with you in early 2025, if you're still up for it! :D In the meantime, I'll be looking forward to any upcoming videos you might have planned. Thanks again for the wonderful comment, and for your interest in collaborating! 🌟
@@Equalyzeno problem man! Your remixes somehow get better and better. Matt's usage of the retro authentic instruments combined with your modern sound was something truly special. 2025 sounds perfect! I can imagine you got your content machine backed up. I'll hit you up when you're free to work on a remix 😁 I'll be releasing a new song next week. I'd be great to hear what you think! Thanks bro ☺️
Wow, what an absolute banger! You've truly outdone yourself with this one. From the sound production to the mixing, and everything in between, it's all spot on. The vibe, the art, the animation... you've nailed every aspect of this remix. It is both impressive and incredibly inspiring! Sending a big hug your way 💛
Thank you, Alter Loy!! Reading your feedback always brings me a great deal of joy, and I hugely appreciate that you always take the time to listen and comment with such intent. 😊 It means a tremendous amount to hear that this remix looks and sounds polished, and thank you for saying so! I received continual feedback on the instrumentation from Super Matt Boy, and his classic sounds added that nostalgic touch that we hoped Sonic fans would be excited to hear. He mentioned using a VST called "Genny", which can emulate Sega Genesis sounds in any DAW, which sounds really cool! I have no experience working with soundfonts or authentic replications of game instruments, so his familiarity with both the sound style and software was key here for achieving that neo-retro sound! And thanks also for your kind remarks regarding the mixing - as much as I like using pads and atmospheric sounds, I think that choosing to forgo them, like Super Matt and I did here, can result in a cleaner and punchier sound. Thank you also for mentioning the visuals specifically! I was so impressed when Kali showed me her designs for Sonic, the rings, and the other pixelated elements, as this was her first time working with pixel art. It was fun working them into the video and she really made it easy for me by flattening the objects into two layers that could rotate at slightly different speeds. I really do enjoy working on these videos, and I appreciate that you always make specific mention of them! :D Once again, thank you very much for your thoughtful and encouraging comments. And right back at you, my friend! 🫂
Heyy, JSoldierPro! It's really good to see you again. ^_^ Thanks so much for taking an interest in this remix, and thank you also for the kind comment. I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed it!! 😄
Hey, thanks so much for taking an interest in this remix, Shafir! I really appreciate the kind feedback, and I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed this one! ^_^
WHAT HUH WHY IS IT SO GOOD?! this remix is absolutely amazing and that chiptune drum part is absolute fire. Please play this at my funeral. this sounds like something that tee lopes would make for sonic mania im truly astonished. (Love the use of sonic sfx and classic genesis sounds)
Woah, thank you so much, Fabian!! Your enthusiasm and complimentary words have me smiling so widely right now truly. I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the remix so much, and I really appreciate your taking the time to write such a thoughtful comment! Thanks for mentioning the segment with the chip drums in particular - I'm super glad to hear that you liked it! I initially thought about having the whole instrumentation for Star Light Zone be in chipsynth style, but I hoped that the retro percussive elements gave it enough of an old-school feel that it would sound immediately different from the Green Hill Zone parts. And wow, hearing that this remix sounds like something Tee Lopes would make - heck, having it be mentioned in the same _sentence_ even - is one of the highest compliments any person could hope to receive regarding their music - thank you!! ^_^ I'm psyched that you liked the SFX and Genesis-styled sounds, too - those were courtesy of Super Matt Boy's creative design. I was pumped when he mentioned that he wanted to incorporate some melodic elements using a VST called "Genny", and I think they came out superbly! His authentically Sega-sounding melodies and flourishes added a nostalgic touch here, and it's so heartening to see that people have enjoyed those aspects in particular! Thank you again for the wonderful comment - this really made my day! 🙂
Thanks for your comments, Daisy23, and for taking the time to listen! I'm really happy that you enjoyed the remix! And wow, that'd be wild to hear Green Hill Zone in the 2100's - I'm sure there will be tens of thousands more songs by then, but I hope classics like this one will still be remembered and enjoyed! 😊
@@Daisy23gaming Ah, thanks for clarifying that! It's awesome to hear that this remix has a futuristic sound to it, and I'm happy that Super Matt Boy and I were able to put a modern spin on this retro classic! Thank you! 🙂
Absolute YUM. Everything is so on point here. Sound design is killer as always. I love the middle section that deviates so well from GHZ with Starlight then slides right back in. Absolutely slaying here you two!
Thank you, Theølogy!! Man, your comments always make me feel so empowered, and it puts a giant smile on my face to read them. 😊 I'm stoked to hear that you felt the instrument choices and overall sound design were well-executed here, and thanks for saying so! And all props go to Super Matt Boy for the Star Light Zone idea - recognizing that the two themes shared the same key and a similarly upbeat feel, he suggested incorporating that as an interlude, and it turned out to have great synergy with GHZ! I wasn't sure how to transition between the two zones visually, but then Kali made this cool color spiral, and I was like "I know _exactly_ where that should go in the video!" 😁 Your enthusiastic and uplifting words always mean a tremendous amount, and I was so thrilled to see that you were already a fan of Super Matt Boy's music when I went back and listened to several of his older videos. This community is fantastic, and people like you and him are every bit the reason for that! Thanks again, my friend, and I'll see you soon! 💛
@@TheologyVGM Tremendously well-said, my friend! The degree of talent, creativity, and character in this community is wild. Thank you again for your uplifting and empowering comments! 💛
Ah, my favorite Zone in the Sonic Series! As the local Sonic fan on our channel, I think this remix is amazing! Sounds very similar to MegaNeko’s remix of Green Hill! Though a lot less, uh, I guess intense. It even has the Starlight zone section and key change that MegaNeko did in their version. Probably a coincidence though! (I listen to a lot of Green Hill remixes, can ya tell?) Anyways, Matt and you did an amazing job on the remix! I love the art too! Keep up the great work! -MusicClues
Wow, thanks so much for the kind and enthusiastic feedback, MusicClues - coming from a Sonic connoisseur such as yourself, that means a lot! I'm so glad that you enjoyed our remix, and I really appreciate your taking the time to comment at length. 😊 I didn't even know about MegaNeko until I read that name in your comment, but I went and listened to several of their songs, and _wow_ was I impressed! Having this remix compared to theirs is very high praise indeed, and I'm tickled that there were a number of similarities to that particular remix of Green Hill Zone. Credit goes to Super Matt Boy for the idea of integrating Star Light Zone, and the key change felt like a nice way to add a bit more variance in Act 2 of Green Hill Zone. :D And thanks also for mentioning the artwork specifically! This was Kali's first attempt at pixel art, and it seems to have gone over really well with viewers. We're both heartwarmed by your compliments! Thanks again for the uplifting feedback, and for your words of encouragement! 🌟
@@Equalyze Anytime, Equalyze! I see you comment on Player2’s videos so I thought I would leave a detailed comment myself. Believe it or not, I’m not surprised you never heard of MegaNeko’s remix. It was on the Harmony of Heroes: Final Smash fan album, which itself is a companion album to the Main Harmony of Heroes album. Both album were made when Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS were new and Final Smash features MegaNeko’s remix. You should definitely listen to both of them! Very underrated albums. I used to Mashup a lot of Video Game Music and Remixes! So I know a thing or two about these Green Hills remixes. Of course I’ve listened to maybe 300 Green hill Remixes at this point so that helps lol. I still have a few Mashups up on the channel if you ever want to check them out. Matt knows his stuff! Starlight isn’t exactly super popular among the Sonic 1 zones so he made a good choice. That’s the artist’s first time during pixel art?! Well, I’m even more impressed! Reminds me of the Adventure games. -MusicClues
Cyb3r_N1nja! It's great to see you again! Thanks so much for taking an interest in the remix, and for your kind and enthusiastic words. 😊 I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed this one, especially as a Sonic fan. Hope you've been doing well, and thanks again for stopping by! :D
Hey, José! So sorry for the delayed reply. Unfortunately, I had several recent submissions to streaming services be rejected (due to failure to obtain licensing) and that discouraged me from pursuing that with other songs, like this one. I still am hoping to get this put on Spotify, etc. sometime in the near-future, but until then, I hope that you'll enjoy the .wav file for this remix - here's the download link! drive.google.com/file/d/1JC69XuL4Lnlwxw0oMv82w7d_ICMs3pcT/view?usp=sharing
Haha! Thanks so much, FlameCheese! 😁 I'm quite humbled and taken aback to hear you say that, in truth. I have very little experience with Sonic games, so it's encouraging that you felt this had an aspect of intensity! Super Matt Boy really brought the retro vibes here with that iconic synth from Star Light Zone, as well as some slick SFX and many other aspects of the arrangement (like the inclusion of the Star Light melody itself). I'm psyched that you liked the direction we took with it! And thank you also for your kind feedback regarding the visuals! Again, this was a new experience, working with mostly pixel-style elements, and when Kali and I were planning the video concept, we were thinking of actions and attributes that Sonic is known for... so we ended up incorporating a lot of spinning! XD Thank you for always taking the time to listen and share your thoughts on both the music and visuals. It always puts a big smile on my face to read your comments! 💫
Thanks so much, man! I'm really happy that you enjoyed this remix, and it's very encouraging to hear your positive feedback on it! I love the way you've worded it, too, around the theming of the song title. 😁
YES YES YES THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED IN MY LIFE I was NOT expecting a Sonic medly! Green Hill Zone with Star Light? Perfect combo. Absolutely incredible. Will be having this on constant repeat! Amazing work as always my friend :)
Vividity!! It's really good to see you, man! :D Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and comment with such enthusiasm - it means a tremendous amount that you've taken an interest in this remix, and I'm so happy to know that you enjoyed it. Knowing your penchant for Sonic games and their music, I was really hoping that this one would be right up your alley, and I'm thrilled to hear that it was! Huge props go to Super Matt Boy for the idea to incorporate Star Light Zone between verses of Green Hill Zone, and his knowledge of not only the OST, but the Sega Genesis' sound style in general proved crucial here. I've wanted to remix a track from a Sonic game for quite some time now, and now that the ice has been broken, I'm already excited for the next one! ^_^ I'm delighted to hear that you feel this warrants repeated listening, and I really appreciate your saying so! Thank you again for the wonderful comment, friend - I'll see you soon! 💛
Ah man, you're too kind! Your enthusiastic remarks put a big smile on my face, and it's always a joy to read them. 😊 Thanks for mentioning the kick rhythms specifically! That's always an aspect that I try to put extra care into, as I feel it's really at the heart of a remix. There are few instruments I enjoy working on more than the kick specifically, as it provides the opportunity to develop some cool and catchy patterns - I'm glad you liked the result here! And thanks also for mentioning the Star Light Zone segment. Props go to Super Matt Boy for the idea of melding it with Green Hill Zone in the arrangement! Your referring to it as a "guest star" is a creative way of putting it! Again, thank you for your continuous support and interest, MidiMusic - it means a tremendous amount! 💛
Woah, for real?! Thanks so much, Corey!! It means the world to hear this is the kind of remix you were looking for, and I'm delighted that you enjoyed it to such an extent. 😊 Thanks again for your comment, and for your enthusiasm! 🌟
yeah, most remixes are "bAsS boOsteD" or not even close to the original, the chorus is perfect nd not quiet and its perfectly on time with the small drags too 🙃@@Equalyze
@@coreytheirishguy Man, it means a ton to hear you say that - thank you!! While creating a new arrangement for a song can really bring a remix to life, I feel it's important not to stray too far from the original. Keeping similar instrumentation or having much of the melody remain intact is a nice way to both pay tribute to the song and elicit feelings of nostalgia and familiarity for listeners. It's a tricky balance to achieve, but I'm delighted to hear that you felt this remix hit the mark in that regard! And thanks also for your feedback on the timing and volume of the piece - those are aspects that I always hope will come across as balanced, so it's heartening to hear that you felt they came over well here! Thanks again for your encouraging comments, Corey - they're sincerely appreciated! 🙂
Heyy, Mattip! Thanks so much for listening and taking the time to comment! I'm really glad to hear that you liked this one, and it means a lot to see your enthusiasm for it! ^_^
Hi there, Equalyze ! This song brings back memories. Aftter all, The rhythm of your remix is so good❤️🔥👍🏻 ̖́- I'm looking forward to seeing your next piece 🎶
Hey, 東堂! It's great to see you again. ^_^ Thanks so much for taking the time to listen, and for writing such a thoughtful and uplifting comment! It warms my heart to hear that this song brings back some fond memories for you, and I appreciate the specific feedback regarding the rhythms! The rhythmic drive of a song is always an aspect I tend to focus on, and it's encouraging to hear that you felt it was a strong point here. Again, I really appreciate your taking the time to listen and comment, and it means a lot that you're looking forward to the next remix, as well. Thank you!! 😊
Hey, José, it's great to see you again! Thanks so much for listening, and for the kind feedback. ^_^ I'm glad to have covered a favorite VGM track of yours, and in a way that you enjoyed - it means a lot to hear that!
Thanks to you, sir@@Equalyze. Green Hill has always been my favorite videogame theme since I heard it in a Master System II. A friend lent me this console when I was 10-12. I even recorded a tape with the music coming from the TV with awful quality, but I listened to it hundreds of times. You can imagine how much I like it :) I know every every single channel (instrument) of it and even made my own mix with FL Studio long years ago. Check it if you're curious: ua-cam.com/video/ksx7Wj8LHl0/v-deo.html. Thanks for your superb music. I listen to your SMB2 Overworld in Spotify quite a lot!
@@SuperJMN Thank you so much for sharing that memory! It's heartwarming to hear about your experiences with this iconic theme, and I totally know what you mean when you described the desire to listen to it over and over again by any means necessary. I remember leaving some Super Nintendo games paused at a certain level, just so I could hear their themes by turning on the TV. It's pretty wild to think of all the things gamers went through in the early days, just to record and listen to their favorite VGM tunes - we have it really good nowadays! 🎧 I finally had an opportunity to listen to your remix, and wow, was I impressed! That's awesome that you use FL Studio, as well, and I think I even recognized some of the specific instruments you used. I know that it was over a decade ago, but if you ever decide to return to remixing music, I would be very excited to hear what you'd make! In any case, it was a fantastic rendition, and I really appreciate you sharing it! :D
So glad you enjoyed it, PartyFoxDeluxe! This remix was a lot of fun to work on, and I'm psyched that it has the kind of energy Super Matt Boy and I were hoping it'd bring! 💫 Thanks for the comment!
Hey, Epic! It's great to see you again. :D Thank you very much for taking an interest in this remix, and I am so happy to hear that you really enjoyed it! Sonic CD has a fantastic OST, and I agree that Stardust Speedway is a top-tier track. Admittedly, it may be quite some time before I remix another track from the Sonic franchise (simply because there are so many amazing games whose music I want to cover) but I will keep that particular game and theme in mind! Thanks again! 🙂
NostalJack! So good to see you, man! :D Thank you very much for listening to this remix, and for the kind feedback. I'm humbled to hear that you feel this fits into such a playlist! 😁 And I'm psyched that you enjoyed the key change and Green Hill Zone reprise, and thanks for mentioning it specifically! When a main melody resumes after an interlude, I enjoy trying to differentiate it, and key changes always feel like such a powerful, yet simple way to do just that! Thanks again, my friend - it's always a pleasure! 🌟
Amazing Remix!!! Sonic is a Cool Guy Just like me!! Facts Why i'm cool: My real name is Leon (A cool Name) I was born in 2005 I know the truth and true Respect Last but not least... I am a Gamer!!
Hey there, Daisy 23! Thanks so much for the kind words, and for taking an interest in this remix - I'm really happy that you enjoyed it! :D Indeed, Sonic manages to keep an aura of coolness - even decades later - and I always remember being so enchanted by him in the original cartoon series. I haven't played very many games in the series, but for the ones I have played, I always enjoy playing as Sonic the most (when there's multiple characters to control). 😁 Thanks for sharing those interesting details! Leon is a really cool name, and it's quite uncommon, too. And woot, power to the gamers! It's awesome, having a common interest that ties us all together. I also really admire that you mentioned respect as an element of coolness - I could not agree more! I think that a person (or character!) who demonstrates true respect for everyone else - and themself - is honestly as cool as it gets! Thanks again for taking the time to comment and share!
Hey, SuperJMN, thanks so much for your continued interest in this song! I hope to get this on Spotify soon, and Super Matt Boy is on board with it, so we just need to make sure it can be licensed. I'll definitely make that a priority this coming week - thank you!! ^_^
Hey, Dolphinazee, it's great to see you again! Thanks so much for the positive feedback, and I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed it! ^_^ You know, Splatoon is a series I hadn't considered until you mentioned it - that's a great suggestion! I haven't played any of the Splatoon games, but I've heard a decent amount of the series' music, and both the original tracks and remixes I've listened to have been really good. My remixes for the remainder of this year have already been planned out, actually, but I am definitely adding Splatoon to my list of series whose music I want to remix! 🦑 Thanks for the suggestion, and again, for the kind comment! 🙂
I think that the result is still incredible. Thanks for the collaboration, and congrats to Kali for the amazing pixel art ✨️
Thanks also for the kind words regarding Kali's art! She wanted to go with a classic style here to complement the neo-retro sound style, and we're both delighted to hear that you enjoyed the designs in the video. 🎨
Once again, thank you for your interest in collaborating.
I don't often hear mashups, but I can absolutely say this remix is amazing, sspecially the transition to Star Light Zone at 0:52, and I _love_ the use of that glitchy visual 😎
Fantastic work to you & Super Matt Boy; and I can't wait for another Sonic cover from you, Equalyze!!
Ah, man, Mesmonium has long been - and continues to be - a person I really admire in the VGM remix community. To be mentioned alongside him is quite flattering! And yes, I hope to keep making music and sharing it on UA-cam for a very long time to come! Doing this brings me joy and fulfillment, and someone's going to have to pull me away kicking and screaming for this to end... not happening! 😆
Thanks again for the awesome comment, and I hope you'll enjoy what's to come!
I can't believe I missed this... such a blessing to my ears! Incredible job. Also, congrats on the 1K subs!!
I got so used to it :D
Seriously, keep it up! Your remixes are always so good. Nice job you two!
Hey, Guimu!! Thank you very much for the detailed and uplifting feedback - it's always such a joy to read and respond to your comments, and I very much appreciate the time and effort you spend writing them. ^_^
I had a feeling you were acquainted with Super Matt Boy, as I knew both of you are from France, and I had seen some of your comments on his channel, as well - that's cool that you guys already knew each other! 💛
That's awesome to hear that you were able to distinguish the parts that Super Matt and I worked on, and it's encouraging to hear that you feel our styles have developed enough that you can make that distinction!
It's very heartening to hear that you felt the remix video had a high degree of polish - that's quite a compliment! 😁
Seriously, I can't express in words alone how much it means that you always take an interest in each new remix and comment with such enthusiasm and positivity.
And yeah, absolutely!
Equalyze is such an artist. Oh boy.
You're too kind, José! Thank you so much for taking an interest in the remix, and for your enthusiastic comments - it means a lot! :D
It's incredible how you keep improving, and I see that you're getting close to 1K subscribers! Congrats! Maybe there will be a special video for that milestone? I'll be looking forward to seeing it if there is! 😄
Keep up the amazing work.
Honestly, I have been really fortunate to have received so much support over the last few years, and it's wild to think that such a major milestone is within reach.
It warms my heart so much to know that you think that of me, personally, and as a musician.
Don't forget the transition from Starlight to Green Hill. FINEST.
@@SuperJMN Thank you so much for all of your thoughtful and encouraging comments, SuperJMN - it means a ton that you've taken the time to write all of them! 😊
Major credit goes to Super Matt Boy for assisting with that transition, and we're really proud of how it came out!
Wow, it means a great deal to hear that you feel my music production skills are continuing to improve - thank you for that!
This remix makes me feel COOOOOOOLL!!
Kali and I are grateful for your kind feedback on the visuals, as well!
Complete kudos go to Super Matt Boy for the idea of incorporating Star Light Zone into the arrangement.
I don't think I've seen any other remixers doing that so I hope more people catch onto this channel 😁
I see you're close to a certain milestone btw. Between You, Void, and Star it's been great seeing your progressions. Hopefully you'll hit it soon enough!
Keep up the great work! 💎
*Goes back to smashing monitors for rings*
I'll be honest: I've only played a few levels of the original (partly because I'm terrible at Sonic games - they're just too fast for me) so I tried to go with SFX that I recognized to complement what Matt added.
Another banger! Appreciate it!
Hey, Arcticanine! Thank _you_ for taking an interest in this remix, and for the positive feedback! It makes me so happy to know that you enjoy the music on this channel, and I really appreciate that you take the time to listen and comment. 😊
Yoo clean remix! Love the extra flare you two added to the track!
The dubstep part at 1:55 is sublime too.
Amazing remix Equalyze! You keep getting better and better!
I'm so glad to hear that you've taken an interest in Super Matt Boy's music, as well, and I really can't express how much I appreciate that you always go out of your way to support the different people involved with each collaboration. I always say this, and I always mean it - you're a gem of a person, and a true blessing to the community. 💛 Thanks again for your wonderful comment, and I'll see you soon, my friend!
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO this is such a groove guys! Great work 💃
I love the Slarlight Zone reference too :) The riffs are also very satisfying and flow seamlessly with the melody.
I'm glad you liked the groove of this track, and the percussive elements were especially fun to work on here.
I'm delighted by the comeback to Green Hill Theme around 1:29. The slight variation is wonderful.
I noticed in your Green Hill Zone remix (and thanks for sharing that!) that you have a lot of variation, and with a much longer song length, too - I think it's awesome that you came up with so many creative variations of the theme, and again, I really appreciate that you mentioned that specific aspect in this remix!
I really appreciate your specific mention of the song flow and energy, as those were aspects that Matt and I wanted to be emphasized here.
In the meantime, I'll be looking forward to any upcoming videos you might have planned.
I'll hit you up when you're free to work on a remix 😁
I'll be releasing a new song next week.
It means a tremendous amount to hear that this remix looks and sounds polished, and thank you for saying so!
Once again, thank you very much for your thoughtful and encouraging comments. And right back at you, my friend! 🫂
Incredible remix! Excellent job!!!😁
Heyy, JSoldierPro! It's really good to see you again. ^_^ Thanks so much for taking an interest in this remix, and thank you also for the kind comment. I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed it!! 😄
Awesome!
I'm psyched that you liked the SFX and Genesis-styled sounds, too - those were courtesy of Super Matt Boy's creative design.
Green Hill Zone in the 2100s!!!
@@Equalyze I meant because this Remix sounds more futuristic!!
I'm stoked to hear that you felt the instrument choices and overall sound design were well-executed here, and thanks for saying so! And all props go to Super Matt Boy for the Star Light Zone idea - recognizing that the two themes shared the same key and a similarly upbeat feel, he suggested incorporating that as an interlude, and it turned out to have great synergy with GHZ! I wasn't sure how to transition between the two zones visually, but then Kali made this cool color spiral, and I was like "I know _exactly_ where that should go in the video!" 😁
Your enthusiastic and uplifting words always mean a tremendous amount, and I was so thrilled to see that you were already a fan of Super Matt Boy's music when I went back and listened to several of his older videos. This community is fantastic, and people like you and him are every bit the reason for that! Thanks again, my friend, and I'll see you soon! 💛
@@Equalyze best EVER! And seriously we all gotta lift each other up and it’s really easy to do when everyone is so DAMN talented!!
I didn't even know about MegaNeko until I read that name in your comment, but I went and listened to several of their songs, and _wow_ was I impressed! :D
And thanks also for mentioning the artwork specifically!
-MusicClues
This is insane dude! Nice work, I love Sonic
When in Spotify? 😁
My god you didn't have to go this hard haha, the visuals are incredible
XD
Thank you for always taking the time to listen and share your thoughts on both the music and visuals. It always puts a big smile on my face to read your comments! 💫
these hills have never sounded better! nice remix!
Thanks so much, man! I'm really happy that you enjoyed this remix, and it's very encouraging to hear your positive feedback on it! I love the way you've worded it, too, around the theming of the song title. 😁
YES YES YES THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED IN MY LIFE
I was NOT expecting a Sonic medly!
I'm delighted to hear that you feel this warrants repeated listening, and I really appreciate your saying so! Thank you again for the wonderful comment, friend - I'll see you soon! 💛
Amazing remix ! It sounds just perfect. Love the kick drum line and the Starlight guest star was a great gift !
Ah man, you're too kind! Your enthusiastic remarks put a big smile on my face, and it's always a joy to read them. 😊
Thanks for mentioning the kick rhythms specifically!
Very nice!
Hey, Umegames Official, thanks so much for watching, and for the kind words! I'm really glad you enjoyed the remix! ^_^
THIS IS WHAT IVE ALWAYS DREAMED OF YEASSS
Woah, for real?! Thanks so much, Corey!! It means the world to hear this is the kind of remix you were looking for, and I'm delighted that you enjoyed it to such an extent. 😊
Thanks again for your comment, and for your enthusiasm! 🌟
yeah, most remixes are "bAsS boOsteD" or not even close to the original, the chorus is perfect nd not quiet and its perfectly on time with the small drags too 🙃@@Equalyze
Soooo cool
Heyy, Mattip! Thanks so much for listening and taking the time to comment! I'm really glad to hear that you liked this one, and it means a lot to see your enthusiasm for it! ^_^
Hi there, Equalyze ! This song brings back memories. Aftter all, The rhythm of your remix is so good❤️🔥👍🏻 ̖́-
I'm looking forward to seeing your next piece 🎶
Thank you!! 😊
Wonderful! By the way, Green Hill is the best videogame song EVER.
I finally had an opportunity to listen to your remix, and wow, was I impressed! :D
Oh yeah this is happening
So glad you enjoyed it, PartyFoxDeluxe! This remix was a lot of fun to work on, and I'm psyched that it has the kind of energy Super Matt Boy and I were hoping it'd bring! 💫 Thanks for the comment!
@Equalyze your welcome
I love this remix, you should remix Stardust Speedway from Sonic CD next
Music to gather the chaos emeralds to 👌🏼
Edit: green hill melody coming back after key change HITS 🙌🏼
NostalJack! So good to see you, man! :D Thank you very much for listening to this remix, and for the kind feedback. I'm humbled to hear that you feel this fits into such a playlist! 😁
And I'm psyched that you enjoyed the key change and Green Hill Zone reprise, and thanks for mentioning it specifically!
Facts Why i'm cool:
My real name is Leon (A cool Name)
I was born in 2005
I know the truth and true Respect
Last but not least... I am a Gamer!!
Hey there, Daisy 23! Thanks so much for the kind words, and for taking an interest in this remix - I'm really happy that you enjoyed it! :D
Indeed, Sonic manages to keep an aura of coolness - even decades later - and I always remember being so enchanted by him in the original cartoon series. I haven't played very many games in the series, but for the ones I have played, I always enjoy playing as Sonic the most (when there's multiple characters to control). 😁
Thanks for sharing those interesting details!
Coming to Spotify? Thanks :)
Hey, SuperJMN, thanks so much for your continued interest in this song! I hope to get this on Spotify soon, and Super Matt Boy is on board with it, so we just need to make sure it can be licensed. I'll definitely make that a priority this coming week - thank you!! ^_^
Really another top song. can you also do a song from splatoon?
Hey, Dolphinazee, it's great to see you again! Thanks so much for the positive feedback, and I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed it! ^_^
You know, Splatoon is a series I hadn't considered until you mentioned it - that's a great suggestion! 🦑
Thanks for the suggestion, and again, for the kind comment! 🙂
