THIS IS STELLAR! I truly love everything about this remix. This battle theme was already amazing, but you made it shine even brighter with your wonderful instrumentation and drums. Also, this section is one of favourites of the original song, I'm so glad you remixed it. Thank you for sharing this and for the tag! I'm so happy to hear that some of my original works can inspire you :) 🌟

Wow, I really can't put into words how much it means that you enjoy this remix, DarlingJack - thank you so much!! For most of my solo remixes, I have a particular artist in the VGM community in mind whose style and preferences influence the instrumentation and arrangement, to a degree. Here, that influence was especially potent, and to see you write such enthusiastic feedback is incredibly rewarding and brings me a lot of joy! ^_^
That is very high praise, to hear that this remix has extra sparkle to it - seriously! Like many others, I'm finding, I think that the in-game theme is a genuine masterpiece, so your saying that it lives up to the brilliance of the original has me feeling both humbled and overjoyed. I am really happy that you liked the instrument choices here, as well as the percussive elements! I always revel in opportunities to use shiny instruments with a ringing, chime-like texture, and even more so when they can synergize well with high-energy electronic drums - that is the absolute sweet spot for me.
And thank you for specifically mentioning the segments that were included here!! Honestly, I wondered if people would be off-put by having some of the segments in Terapagos' battle theme omitted, and having it start in a different section, but when I listened to this theme, I knew right away that I wanted the section where Kieran joins you to be the feature of this remix. I'm delighted, truly, to know that you really like that section, as well!
Thank you for always taking the time to listen and comment so thoughtfully on each remix - I truly cherish your comments! 💛

One of the best battle themes from the series as of recent. I was honestly too unsure of how to remix it myself so I never did, but I’m really glad you were up to the challenge! Turned out great!

Ah, man, I can't even express what a joy it is to hear that you feel this remix turned out well... thanks so much, Bardometer! 😄
In truth, this was one of the most challenging songs I've attempted to remix, and without help from Lazy Totodile's transcription, this wouldn't have been remotely possible. Transcription aside, the significant energy shifts and considerable variance in the original also made things tough for me, as well as trying to condense it all into a shorter time length. But considering all of the complex and musically dense tracks you've remixed, as well as your remarkable ability to merge multiple tracks together into mini-medleys, I think a track like this is right in your wheelhouse!
And yes, I completely agree! I feel that this is one of Pokemon's best battle themes in the past decade, and it's been quite some time since I've felt so impacted by the series' music - since Zinnia's battle theme, in fact. Nothing against the music from the last few gens, as I do enjoy a lot of it, but Terapagos' theme is special. It's heartening to see that so many people in the VGM community feel that way, too, and again, I hugely appreciate your feedback here. Thank you!! ^_^

This comment really made my day, and I appreciate your taking the time to comment on specific video elements. ^_^ My artist partner and I really take a lot of pride in the visuals, and it's always encouraging when people mention subtle details, like what you've pointed out.
Kali is gracious enough to provide many of the different elements in the scene as separate images, so I can automate them to move a bit. I think even just a little bit of motion helps, and I'm trying to build on that with each successive video. And thanks for mentioning the terastalization segment, as well! I wanted that to be both a big moment in the video and music, and it means a lot to know that you enjoyed it in particular.

Oh man, I can't even tell you how flattered I am to hear you say that - thank you!! 🥹 I honestly never thought there'd be a point where someone would hope that I'd cover a certain song or track from an OST... that makes me feel really special. Seriously!
To be honest, I had a different remix planned for February (which was nearly finished, and will be uploaded at a later time), but then when Kali was playing the DLC and I got to witness the whole scenario with Kieran and Terapagos, I knew right then and there that I wanted to remix this song. The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero honestly has such good music (especially the Indigo Disk), and I haven't felt this strongly about a Pokemon theme since the battle against Zinnia!
In any case, I do hope that this particular remix hit the mark for you! Thank you so much for always taking the time to listen and comment, FlameCheese - it means a tremendous amount! :D

Glitchman, I really can't thank you enough for this comment you've written - it seriously means the world to know that you're so excited for both the response that this video has gotten, and this new milestone that the channel has reached. 😊
Honestly, I'm floored by the number of views this remix has garnered since it was uploaded, and while I suspected that the novelty of the theme might give it a bit of a boost, I never imagined that it would turn out to be this successful. Although I still do feel that this is my best solo production, I think the response this remix has gotten can largely be attributed to the fact that there are relatively few remixes of the song, and that it probably still continues to be a frequent search term in the VGM remix domain. I have a feeling that the colorful and dramatic thumbnail probably has helped, too, but regardless of any contributing factors, I'm very grateful for how well this video has performed!
The fact that you revisit remixes from months prior and comment on them again is something really special that rarely happens, and I hope that my words can properly convey how much I appreciate that! And again, thank you so much for the words of congratulations! I've been remarkably fortunate to have met you and so many other amazing people in the community, and the lucky breaks I've gotten, like having some remixes played by The8BitDrummer, or having them featured in other people's videos and Community posts, has really gone a long way towards helping this channel to grow. I agree that some of the quality control issues detract from the game experience a bit, but Gen 9 definitely does have its strong points, and I feel that the music and story are definitely among its strengths! And it'd be nice to have the DLC included for free, or just at a lower cost, but I felt it was a great addition to the core game. Hopefully some of the issues that plagued S/V will be resolved in the next generation of Pokemon games!

Aw man, thanks so much, Hanabi!! 😊 Your comments are always so uplifting and encouraging to read, and it means so much that you always take the time to listen and comment at length.
Honestly, Drumstep has quickly become one of my favorite (sub-)genres, right alongside chillstep. I love that it's intense and rhythmically complex, and that it has a high degree of listenability (without causing too much ear fatigue). As I mentioned to Glitchman, I think it's going to be one of the styles that I find myself coming back to quite often - that said, I also really want to keep trying new genres, because it's been a joy to do so in the past couple of years, and versatility is something I'm striving for! I really can't express how much your support of my interest in this musical style means to me - thank you!!
Thanks for the specific remarks regarding the instrumentation! I had the opportunity to use and layer some of my favorite sounds here, and I'm a huge sucker for instances where delicate, crystalline sounds can mesh with heavy, hard-hitting percussive ones. Terapagos' theme does just that, and so does Diantha's theme, which I hope to also remix someday! And I'm glad that you felt it had great energy, and that it was uplifting - ultimately, I think the Terapagos battle theme is one of hope and resolve -and let's ignore that it almost decimated Kieran- so it's heartening to hear that those feelings were present in the remix!
Kali and I really appreciate your mention of the visuals, as well - thank you! I was honestly so excited when she first showed me her designs of the battle scene, trainers, and Pokemon, and I knew right off the bat that some of the ZGEV's effects would have great synergy with the crystal and multicolored theming. In truth, quite a bit of inspiration was taken from the Square Enix Powermix visuals, so having had the chance to work on that project really made a difference here! And thanks for pointing out the Poke Ball at the end, too! When Kali and I played through the DLC, we decided to that a Friend Ball would be the most fitting for Terapagos' capture, and she even went and applied a Tera effect to it here. I'll never not be amazed and mystified by her artistic abilities... 😅
It warms my heart that you always make mention of the featured artist segment in each video - I'm really happy to know that it's been making an impact in some way! Likewise, your continued commitment to highlighting various artists in the community always brings a smile to my face, and I admire and appreciate that you go to such lengths to help others grow and succeed. Thanks again for everything, my friend, and I'll see you soon! 💛

Man, Theølogy, I can't even express in words alone what it means to hear that, coming from you. Thank you so much!! To be completely honest, I do feel that this is my best solo production yet, and it turned out pretty much exactly how I had wanted it to, which definitely doesn't always happen. I enjoyed working on this remix even more than usual, which is saying a lot, and I became borderline-obsessed with the original track, so there was no shortage of motivation whatsoever.
Thank you for your encouraging remarks regarding the sound design! I was fortunate to be able to find sound combinations early on that layered well together and produced the kind of sound I was looking for. To go with the crystalline, radiant theming, I wanted to select synths and instruments that had a bright and shiny texture, and this remix helped me to see just how versatile and good saw synths are, and why they're so widely and frequently used in electronic music. Basically, I just had an opportunity to use a whole bunch of my favorite sounds - so glad you enjoyed them! 😁
And thanks for your feedback on the percussive elements, as well! Being able to use harder-hitting snares in some sections with ambient, reverbed percussion in others was a real treat! Your percussive style definitely was in mind throughout the process, and I thought often of how you utilize sizzling rides and cymbals with satisfying, ringing qualities to add sparkle and texture to a mix. ✨
I'm psyched that you enjoyed the video, too, and thanks for mentioning it! As usual, I was blown away when Kali showed me her initial and finished designs for the scene, the trainers, and the Pokemon, and I had a lot of fun using lighting, color shift, panning, and blur stretch effects to try and the static scene to look as dynamic as I could manage. The visuals are always one of my favorite parts of the process to work on!
I value your support and encouragement beyond measure, and I am very fortunate to have met and gotten to know you. And likewise, I'm very proud to be a part of your community, and it's a privilege to support you and your creations, as well! Thanks again, my friend!! 💛

I'm so sorry how long this took me to comment on this MASTERPIECE!!!! As other commenters have already stated, your percussion on this remix is extraordinary; I'm very much loving the drum-n-bass style you chose for this remix! 🥁
I'd like to mention your stellar use of your background synths & ambiance; obviously 0:24-0:54 is AMAZING, but I gotta mention how epic those pads & arpeggiators are for the intro, break, and outro - especially how much dynamic range you implemented in this remix! This is the perfect example of taking somebody for a ride; your visuals brought me right back to the moment of encountering Terapagos, and the text you utilize is bringing me even more chills as I listen...in fact, this is somehow making feel nostalgic even though this moment happened only months ago!
I've had to repeat this song at least 7 times now while writing this comment; I still can't get enough of your sound design selection. I know this is more on the shorter side of a comment I could provide, but rest assured every time I listen to your music it makes my day better; I can't wait for your next upload!! 💫

Man, I'm struggling to put into words how happy and realized I feel reading your wonderful comment. Thank you so, so much, Player2!! 🥹
Coming from such a masterful drum and percussion designer, your uplifting remarks regarding the percussive elements have me feeling really good! I got a lot of help from various samples - and a few percussion loops - from Splice with this project, and there were definitely quite a few lucky finds that really just clicked and happened to be _exactly_ the sound and rhythm I was looking for. I honestly couldn't be happier with how the percussive elements turned out, and having the opportunity to work with D&B- and Drumstep-styled rhythms made this project so much fun to work on! Although I'm always motivated to work on remixes, this piece had me spending every spare hour I had in FL Studio and making lots of foolish, sleep-depriving decisions. 😅
Thank you for your specific mention of the supporting elements, especially in the intro and ending segments! I really wanted the beginning to sound warm and empowering, and to (hopefully) give listeners the same kinds of chills that I felt during that critical moment when Kieran joins the battle. The complex, arp-like rhythms are one of the many composition aspects that I never would have been able to figure out on my own, but thankfully there's sheet music out there from generous and ridiculously talented people like LazyTotodile!
I'm so glad to hear that you felt the piece had a great deal of range, in terms of dynamics and sound style, and thanks for saying so! Making them all come in (I hope) a coherent way definitely was one of the trickiest aspects of this remix, since each section, like in the original, sounds so different. The major-minor key transition at 0:54 was the toughest to implement, as you're coming off of this musical high and getting serious within seconds, so I tried to use some rising impacts and crossfading some elements between the two segments to glue them together a bit.
Ah man, I am so psyched to hear that the video also had the kind of impact I hoped it would - to take viewers through the different parts of that truly epic and memorable battle against Terapagos. Honestly, I haven't felt that level of immersion and passion in a game in awhile, and I _still_ get goosebumps just thinking about the various scenes and dialogue in the whole sequence with Kieran, Carmine, and Terapagos!
Two things that always get me emotionally charged in games are when characters team up in a display of solidarity and battle fervently alongside each other, and when antagonists are given - and accept - a chance at redemption. So the fact that this battle singularly checked both boxes really just did it for me, and paired with the phenomenal music, it turned out to be a battle I will never forget! It is so flattering to hear that this made you feel nostalgic, even, for this part of the game, despite it being relatively new - thanks so much for that!
I'm just elated, really, to know that you enjoyed this piece so much, and that you were interested in listening multiple times - thank you! I'm tickled that you described your comment as being a bit on the shorter side, because to me, it feels incredibly robust! And it warms my heart tremendously to know that my remixes could be a bright spot in your day - the feeling is entirely mutual, my friend! Thank you again for taking the time to write such a thorough and uplifting comment! 💛

I haven't played the ninth generation DLC (yet), but this music is familiar because we recognize the teracrystal theme.
Really, I think it's good that you choose the parts that speak to you the most, because I actually saw the length of the original music. This allows you to produce this magnificent remix!
The choice of instruments is simply sublime. We recognize your own style in this energetic style, thanks to the sounds you use. Indeed, I wonder which VSTs you used to produce these magnificent chords. (sorry for all my questions, but I know you appreciate them ^^)

Guimu, thank you so much! ^_^ I am really happy to hear that you liked this remix, and I really appreciate your taking the time to listen so intently and provide in-depth feedback. And your use of the term "stellar" to describe this remix has me smiling ear-to-ear! 😊
It means a lot that you encourage my decision to select the specific parts of the original song that resonated the most with me - thank you! I know that some listeners might be looking to hear those omitted parts, but to me, it actually seems as though the part at 0:23 is well-loved by many people - I've seen several comments on that section in videos of the original theme, and it also happens to be the most watched segment in the full theme version that I saw on Pokeli's channel. In any case, I'm glad that others feel similarly moved by that part in Terapagos' battle theme!
Ah, I'm delighted that you enjoyed the instrumentation here, and thanks for commenting on it specifically! And absolutely, I love sharing details about these remixes, and I'm grateful that you ask about particular instruments or sounds used in them.
I won't overdo it and mention every single instrument, but for the longer chords (which are mostly whole notes and half notes), I used two layers: Thermosphere from FLEX, and a Serum preset called "sm_rr_pad_modern_choir". This is the first time I've used that Serum preset, and I definitely want to use it in future remixes, too. The saw synth chords that can be heard strongly at 1:35 (and are also used as shorter staccato notes at 0:23 and 1:47) is also a preset in Serum, called "AOKI_serum_PD_sky_horizon". It's become a new favorite of mine, as it's very versatile and has a rich and full sound. Both of those presets were downloaded from Splice, in case you're interested!
The bell synths were a lot of fun to work with, too, and I was lucky to find a combination of sounds that resulted in exactly what I was looking for. The bright melody instruments heard at 0:23 and 1:23 are a combination of a combination of two slightly modified presets in Morphine, "SYN D50 Fantasia FG" and "PRC Xmas Bell", as well as "Voidance" from FLEX, and the default piano from the Keyzone Classic VST. If there were any other VSTs or sounds you were interested in hearing about, please just let me know, and thanks again for asking!
I really appreciate you mention of the visual elements, as well - thank you! I really enjoy putting these videos together, as you know, and it was a privilege to be able to work with Kali's artwork here. A newer effect in the ZGEV that I've really been getting a lot of use out of lately is the "Dubswitcher Starburst" effect - the default setting looks great, and it can be automated in various ways to produce a variety of cool effects!
And I'm glad you enjoy the use of blur and dimming in tandem with the text! For the text glow (as well as nearly all of the other video effects), I create groups of layers using the "To Buffer" option, then have those groups be combined using the "YouLean From Buffer" effect - this allows you to apply certain effects (like glow, blur) to certain layers without having them affect everything else. The blur on the text itself as they fade in and out is the "YouLean Motion Blur" effect, which is one that I use in literally every video. Like with the instruments, if you have any specific questions about the video effects, I'd be more than happy to share!
Thank you again for always taking an interest in each new remix video, and for writing such detailed and thoughtful comments. Knowing that you enjoy them means more than I can say, truly! Take care, my friend - until next time!🌟

Thank you so much, Dallin! Your enthusiastic and heartfelt comments are always a sincere joy to read, and I really can't convey through words alone how much it means that you take the time to write at length.
I'm psyched to hear that that particular line resonated with you! I don't know if you've played the Pokemon S/V DLC or not, but it's exclaimed by Kieran's sister, Carmine, during one of the critical moments in battle, where Kieran (and presumably the player) could benefit from some words of motivation. While Carmine isn't exactly in a position to authorize the actions of her brother or his protagonist friend (though she probably considers herself qualified to do so), it's inspiring, truly, to hear that you felt a strong parallel between that line and your own relationship with the Creator. And it's awesome to see you going all-in like that, trusting in Him to provide for your needs.
On that note, I couldn't be more excited and glad to see these doors opening up for you. From having videos that reach ever-wider audiences, to a steadily growing community, things really have been taking off in the last few months, and it's heartening to see your efforts bearing fruit! I hope that you'll continue to find joy and fulfillment in sharing a message of hope and tenacity.
I really appreciate your mention of the consistency that I've tried to maintain since I started making VGM remixes. To be honest, I love making remix videos so much that I've never felt even the slightest urge to deviate from that, and the monthly deadline helps to keep me on track so I'm able to come to a stopping point and let the music be a finished piece (which also helps me to avoid over-tweaking things). 😅
Ah man, thanks so much for supporting DarlingJack, as well! It's true that each of these is the result of the creative efforts and care of different people - directly or otherwise - and I always hope that people will take an interest in those mentioned in the description - I'm grateful that you always do! :D
And wow, I am just so touched to know that these remixes have continued to be a source of enjoyment and motivation for you, and your enthusiasm for them has been a real blessing. Likewise, your messages continue to be important and uplifting reminders to keep things in perspective and rely fully on God. Good things await, indeed!

Man, thank you so much for the enthusiastic and uplifting comment, Avo! It means a huge amount that you enjoyed this remix so much, and I'm flattered that you've found it to be repeat-worthy. 😊 And thanks for listening to it so often!
I really do feel that this is my best production yet, so it's incredibly heartening that it's received such a robust response since it was uploaded. I've been very lucky that it happened to catch people's eyes and ears, and I don't want to take for granted that the novelty of the track, being from the relatively new DLC, very likely played a part in that. Usually, my selections aren't influenced by currently trending or recently-released games, but this particular song just made such a powerful impact on me, and I immediately switched gears from my originally planned remix (coming in April now) to this one, once I found that sheet music was available for it. 😁 The original track is honestly so good, so I'm sure it'll be every bit as enjoyable as you've found this one, but again, I'm humbled to hear that you felt this set the bar so high - thank you!
Your remarks on the visuals - and specifically Kali's designs - are always a delight to read. She also feels that this is some of her best artwork yet, so everything really just came together in the way we hoped it would! It was fun to utilize some of the newly-added (as of the last update) ZGEV effects, and I'm a sucker for multicolor lights and effects to begin with, so this one was extra-fun to work on. I love working on any kind of remix or video, period, but this one was especially motivating, being able to use some of my favorite sounds, with a percussive style that I've quickly grown to love.
Thank you again for your constant encouragement - to say that you've been an influential and motivating force in my remix endeavors would be an understatement! As always, I'm looking forward your next project, as well as that special upcoming one! See you soon, my friend! ^_^

      @Equalyze  11 місяців тому +2

Thank you so much, Danny!! I really appreciate that you always take the time to listen and watch so intently, and that you write such detailed and thoughtful feedback. 😊
It means a huge amount that you feel the production values on this channel have improved over time - that's always been my goal from the start, to improve gradually and consistently. When I think about specific factors that have really made significant changes to the sound quality, a big thing is that I'm starting to understand and utilize the effect plugins better than I used to. For instance, learning that the low end on treble and upper-middle instruments should be EQ'd out was really a game changer, and various online tutorials have helped me to get a better handle on how compression works, and what the different parameters means.
Becoming more efficient with the process has helped me to use that extra time saved to explore new sounds, add extra details, and utilize new visual effects. I always try to think about what my process (or lack thereof) was like when I first started, and to consider what's changed fundamentally about it. And I hope that years from now, I'll have improved a bit more, with additional experience and access to new sound libraries and effect plugins! So it's very encouraging to hear you say that there's been improvement - thank you for that!
I'm stoked to hear that you liked the segment from 0:47 - 1:23 especially! In truth, that was the part I felt the least confident about, and it's also the part I struggled with the most. It's definitely heavier and the sudden switch to a minor key made it tricky to shift the bright and joyous sound so quickly, but I'm thrilled that you felt it had a powerful and imposing sound! The legendary battle music in the Pokemon games is always so memorable, and this one is by far my favorite, even surpassing the likes of the Dialga/Palkia, Musketeer Trio, and even Ultra Necrozma themes. And yeah, it's so cool that they added Stellar to the list of Tera types! I can see why they didn't make it a regular type, but Terapagos feels like the perfect Pokemon to showcase that new mechanic, and it's visually very appealing, too! ✨
Thanks again for your continued encouragement and enthusiasm for each remix video. And you keep up the great work, as well, my friend! 💛

Man, thank you so much for the incredibly detailed and thoughtful comment, Poke&Remix - it means a tremendous amount that you always take the time to listen and comment with intent. :D
Indeed, your Kiernan & Terapagos Battle remix is wildly creative, and you have a knack for really going outside convention and transforming pieces entirely. It's heartening to hear that you feel this remix brings something new to the table, as well! And I'm glad that you felt the song flowed well here - thanks for mentioning that aspect specifically! It was definitely a challenge to try to get the different sections to transition smoothly into each other because the original has such major shifts in energy and intensity. I feel that the contrast between the mellow (yet building) parts and the high-energy, high-intensity ones really makes such a big impact in the music, and I'm thrilled that you felt those aspects were represented well here - thank you!
I can see what you mean in regards to that segment around 1:50 - I think that the modern approach that the Switch Pokemon games are taking with their music really makes it feel more immersive and adds a feeling of hype that wasn't in previous games. It's cool how a lot of the recent music has been dynamic and changes to match the situation, too - I hope they'll continue to do that in future generations!
I'm flattered that you listened multiple times, and I really appreciate your uplifting remarks regarding the production and sound style! Indeed, DarlingJack's music is really an exemplar for the type of music I'd describe as "pretty, yet powerful" - Diantha's Battle theme is a similarly elegant piece that packs a real punch that I hope to remix someday. And yeah, that would be really cool to collaborate on a future remix! I know the year just started, but it's already looking nearly full, with projects I've got lined up for the remaining 10 months of 2024 - I will definitely keep that in mind, however! :D

Wow!! I'm blown away! What an epic remix! The character dialogue really adds to the experience and emotion of this theme! I notice this is a drumstep style remix, really incredible! The melodies are so beautiful and dramatic at the same time, the instrumentation is done really well, excellent work! You go above and beyond in the entire presentation, including the video, and I respect that. Speaking of the video...
WOW, that ART 🤩 I'M SPEECHLESS 🤩 It's so epic and beautiful!! I love the epic shading and lighting effects! This is Kali's best artwork yet! I've recently taken an interest in learning anime style art and my dream is to be able to create beautiful works like this! I know it's a steep learning curve, especially for me since the last time I tried drawing for fun, I was in elementary school, and I was never really good at drawing so I didn't continue. 😅 So I'm basically starting from scratch and all I can do at this point are simple sketches. But hey, everybody starts at the bottom. I keep the goal in mind, and seeing epic art like this motivates me to continue to improve! Really amazing work! 👍😃

Thank you so much, Glitchman!!😊Reading your comment fills me with so much pride and joy, and I really can't express through words alone how much I appreciate that you always take the time to listen and watch with such intent and comment in-depth on different musical and visual aspects.
I'm thrilled to hear that the dialogue added to the overall atmosphere and emotional impact of this remix in a positive way, and thanks for that feedback! Not gonna lie, after experiencing this section in the DLC, I went back and watched videos of the Terapagos battle dozens of times, and even now, it never ceases to give me goosebumps, even when I know exactly what's coming. The way this scene was executed in the game, with the dynamic music, the likable characters, and the emotionally charged dialogue... it really just hits hard, and I wanted to be able to capture the critical moment when Kieran decides to join you in battle!
Ah man, I'm so excited that you noticed and remarked on the musical style of this remix!! Drumstep was hands-down the main influence here, alongside some elements from chillstep and other sub-genres. Honestly, I've grown to love drumstep so much in the past year, and while I always want to make music in a variety of (sub-)genres, I think that it will be a style that I keep coming back to. And thank you for the kind words regarding the instrumentation - so glad you liked it! I always relish opportunities to use crystalline sounds, alongside staples like pianos and strings. I'm also finally beginning to see the versatility and efficacy of saw synths (especially when layered and detuned), and why they're so widely used in electronic music!
Kali and I are so grateful for your kind and enthusiastic mention of the visuals - thank you!! I always try to put as much detail work and embellishment into the videos as time allows - usually anywhere from 10-15 hours of working time, but sometimes more, if I'm in a good position, time-wise. When I first got into remixing, I noticed that there were some videos here and there that had visuals which were not only animated and dynamic, but also interacted directly with the music, and I thought that was so cool! I always hope that people will find enjoyment in those moments of coordination between the audio and video, and your above-and-beyond visuals are a big motivating force for me to keep working towards improving these interactive videos. :D
Wow, that is some seriously high praise, to hear that you feel this is Kali's best work yet! Honestly, I was stunned when she showed me the scene she had illustrated with Kieran, Liko, and their Pokemon, and the use of lighting, shadows, vivid colors, and forced perspective really made it look so majestic and cool. Thanks so much for taking the time to mention her artwork specifically!
That's honestly so cool that you're interested in learning to illustrate in an anime style! And I totally get what you're saying regarding the uphill battle that looms ahead. 😅 I think that, just like with music, it's something that improves with consistent practice, as well as learning the tools or instruments you're working with. Kali has learned a lot over the past 3 1/2 years of working with Adobe Photoshop, and while it seems like genuine magic to me, I know her improvement has largely been the result of different character studies, sketching on a (near-) daily basis, looking up tutorials, and utilizing reference images (that last one is especially important, I think). I've often heard that one of the quickest ways to improve is to try and emulate a style or artist that you enjoy. That said, I'm not at all in a position to offer advice in this domain, but I am really happy to know that the artwork here could be a source of motivation for you!
Thanks again for always taking the time to listen and comment at length, Glitchman. I'm excited for your next remix video, as well as a possible new venture into the realm of visual art! 🌟

DO IT!!! Just pick up that pencil/stylus and start drawing. I know artists who have drawn their entire lives and they can't hold a candle to those who started to draw for a few years with purpose. In fact, my drawing only got better when I decided to start and critique what I was doing instead of judging it's 'quality'. Also doing studies, drawing hands (and other parts) over and over again, trying to redraw another piece of art whoes style you are trying to eliminate to feel where lines flow, looking at negative space, doing lighting practices ... There are a lot of methods to taking steps towards improving, but the most important is that you are drawing what you want in a style you like. EQ and I sometimes butt heads over that style of the artwork for a video, but the best art is one that you are feeling.
If you are drawing for your own videos, try to sketch to your music. See how it makes you feel and just relax with the pencil. (Nothing can be more frustrating then forcing an uncooperative drawing instrument to draw what you see in your mind) And, for a simple video with your art, try drawing a highlight piece (like toadette in coconut mall) where you can focus on a single smaller piece so it's not overwhelming.
Feel free to follow me on Instagram @kalilyonart and send me a DM and I can try to point you towards your strengths and things to study.

@@kalilyon1064 Kali, wow, thank you so much for your awesome and supportive comment!! 😄 I really appreciate that you took the time to write all that, it was super motivating to read from start to finish! 😊 Indeed, I find that I learn the most by studying other pieces of art, especially professionally drawn works, like official art from various games and anime. I really like the Japanese anime and game art style, with the highly expressive characters and beautiful vibrant colors and shading.
Right now, I'm just learning how to draw different facial expressions from different angles. Just yesterday actually, I was experimenting by drawing different mouth shapes on a character, and I was surprised at how much the shape of the mouth influences the overall emotion of the character. Same goes with the eyes. Oh, how I love the beautiful and expressive anime eyes! They are the highlight of the whole character, so getting the eyes right is super important. One source of artistic inspiration for me is the music video Shelter by Porter Robinson, it's so beautiful and emotional. 😊

Faces are fantastic, so much like you mentioned emotion lies in the eyes and mouth. There is a fun study where you do emotion with increasing levels of expressiveness (ex: slight smile and then each stage to the right you increase the happiness and each cell down you make it cold. You wind up with simple smile, extreme Happy, Cold, and Psychotics with various stages between.) Recently I have been loving the eyes in "The Journey's End" and the mouths from "Jujutsu Kaisen".

I love how much your it pulls me in, and then at 0:47 just completely sucks me into the music - you've really outdone yourself here! I already loved this theme, as it brings together so many themes into a gigantic finale, but your version truly gives this music the powerful, even passionate extra bit on top that makes this feel like the perfectly appropriate finale to the story.
(Also, I gotta share my love for not only including the dialogue, but also ending the video with a friend ball of all things ^^ friendship feels like one of the most predominant themes of this Pokémon game more than ever before. To say that I'm thrilled reading your comment is an understatement. It is so encouraging to hear that you felt the intensity of the original sequence was captured here! ^_^ I was really hoping that the intro segment would be immersive, and that it would pull listeners into the feelings of anticipation and finding one's resolve, and your feedback makes me feel like I really hit the mark there. And thank you for your mention of the segment at 0:47 - even in the end, that was the part that I was the most unsure of, as it was a pretty heavy and sudden transition, but I'm psyched to know that you found it captivating!
I couldn't agree more that the original theme is such a powerful and climactic finale to what was really an excellent DLC. I'm really a sucker for pieces that incorporate motifs from throughout your adventure and converge everything into one ultimate musical denouement, and Terapagos' theme does just that! And seeing you use the word "passionate" to describe the arrangement warms my heart to no end, because I truly do love this song and the event in which it plays, and I hoped that that passion would be reflected in the music. 🤍
Ah, I'm tickled that you noticed the Friend Ball at the end - thank you for pointing that out! 😁 When Kali and I were playing and got to the catch sequence, we decided to use a Friend Ball on Terapagos, since it felt so fitting with the strong theming of friendship throughout the game (and especially in the DLC), as you so aptly described. Although the series has always had rivals and friends, it feels like S/V really went out of its way to make it intentional and meaningful, and I hope they'll do that in future games, as well. To be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of Kieran at the beginning of the Indigo Disk, but the story arc really redeemed him, and he ended up being one of my favorites in the end. Kali and I wanted to make sure that he was central to the theming of the video, and it's awesome to hear that you have such a fondness for his character! :D
And thank you for the kind words regarding the visuals! It was a lot of fun to work on the video, and I always love having the opportunity to go all-out with the multicolor lighting and particle effects - I'm happy to hear that they came across so well here! ✨

She's especially proud of the characters and background elements here, and I was so impressed with it all - we're delighted that you liked how they were illustrated, and it's heartening to hear that it helped to make the video more engaging! I'm a sucker for multi-colored, crystalline designs, so this one hit the sweet spot for me. ✨
It means more than I can say that you always take the time to listen so intently and comment on both the music and visuals. Thank you again, my friend! 💛

@@MrAszpic Thank you for listening to the remix that Player2 and I made, and for your comments on those, as well! I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with him twice, and I hope to partner up with P2 and the other people I've worked with again for future remixes.
I agree that working with other artists - especially ones with larger followings - definitely can help to widen the the reach of this channel, and I have a few collaborations planned for the remainder of 2024, as well as 2025, which I'm really psyched for! Interestingly, there's quite a bit of overlap in terms of community with many of the people I work with, and I think it really shows how much convergence there's been over the past few years in the VGM remix community!
And I like that you mentioned organic growth in particular! As exciting as it is to see the subscriber count grow, the thing that means the most to me is having more opportunities to engage meaningfully with people. I always try to respond to comments with utmost personalization and detail because I want people to know how much I sincerely appreciate their taking the time to comment on a video, and it's the best way I know how to convey that. :D

Ah man I thought I already commented on this one! Such an amazing soundscape you've used here! Love the intro with that muffled beat and atmosphere, great buildup! I never played any Pokemon games, but I can feel the heat of this battle by just listen to your remix. It sounds as a remix not too easy to complete, there is much going on and to put together (I can tell).
Love the chord progressions and the end is just perfect, and it actually sounds as if the battle went well judging by that major chord at the end :D Great intense, and the motivational beat really encourages the fighting spirit within.
Flawless production as well, and instrumentation is as usual spot on! Did you invest in some new synthesizers maybe? Or do you stick with your standard and just modifiy them?
One of your best so far buddy! Keep going and you'll hit those 1k subs really soon! See you soon I hope!

Man, thank you so much for this wonderfully detailed and heartfelt comment, Neon X! Your feedback is always such a delight to read, and I feel like I really can't express how much it means that you always take the time to listen and comment on these remixes. 😊
Your use of the term "soundscape" has me smiling widely, as I really did want to create a wide and immersive sound, and hopefully impact listeners in the way the original theme had an impact on me. My goal was to have that low-pass filter in the beginning work in tandem with the dynamics and progressive rhythms to create a sense of building excitement, which is exactly how I felt during the situation when this song plays during the Terapagos encounter - so I'm thrilled to hear that it had the precise kind of effect I was going for! And wow, it's quite encouraging to hear that you could feel the intensity of the battle situation through this remix, despite not having played the game - thanks for mentioning those details!
This remix was admittedly one of my most challenging yet, for numerous reasons. Since the full battle is quite a bit longer than my normal length range, I had to condense the arrangement to include only certain parts, and I wanted to make sure to include that opening segment, as well as the ending (where you catch Terapagos in the game - which is indeed a successful end to the battle as you correctly surmised), so it was a bit tricky to sew the different pieces together, so to speak, but I'm really happy with how the arrangement, and it allowed me to include my absolute favorite part twice (from 0:23 - 0:47 and 1:47 - 2:11). ^_^ Additionally, getting the different parts to transition smoothly was tough, since the energy shifts so considerably between certain segments, and the key even goes from major to minor, and vice-versa. So I really appreciate your mention of the challenges that this remix presented, as you know all too well how tough the arrangement aspect alone can be!
Thanks for the kind remarks regarding the instrumentation! Surprisingly, most of the instruments here have been used in previous remixes, but I think the specific layering of synths likely created combinations that sound new. For instance, the main bell synth (first heard at 0:23) was most recently used in the Frappe Snowland remix, but here it's layered with a piano, a voxy saw synth, and a warm bell sound for a bit more of an ethereal, crystalline sound. I am also trying to be more intentional with EQ shaping and cutting out unnecessary frequencies, so perhaps it's sounding different in that regard, too. There are a couple of new sounds, like that choral synth, which is a slight modification of a preset in Serum, as well as that plucky synth heard at the start and throughout, which I've had in my Favorites list for a long time, but hadn't really found an opportunity to use until now. It means a huge amount to me that you always take special note of the sounds used, and that you've noticed changes and similarities in the instrumentation over the years - thank you!
It warms my heart to hear that you feel this is one of my best productions yet, because I am really happy with how this one turned out. :D And thank you so much for the encouraging words! I've been very fortunate that this remix has gotten such a strong response since it was uploaded, though I'm certain that the popularity of Terapagos' Battle theme, and the fact that it's still relatively new, played a major role in that. Regardless, I really appreciate that people have taken an interest in this remix, and the channel as a whole, and it feels like that elusive 1k goal is within reach this year! I'm both humbled and grateful to have your support in this journey, and it's a genuine privilege to be able to support your musical endeavors as well! Thanks again, my friend, and a big congratulations to you for hitting yet another big milestone not too long ago! Until next time! 💛

Thanks so much, man!! Honestly, I'm blown away by the response that this video has gotten, and it's exciting to see that it's picked up much more traction than usual, because this is my favorite solo production yet. ^_^
But I also don't want to discount for a second that this outcome is due in _huge_ part to the song itself being both popular and fairly new. This has been a universally-loved theme, from what I've seen, and in tandem with its relative novelty and the fact that there aren't many other remixes of this theme on UA-cam (at least, compared to some of the more widely-remixed ones), it's yielded a really nice result! Not only that, but Kali's amazing artwork really makes for an eye-catching thumbnail, so I'm positive that's been instrumental in helping this video to get seen and clicked on.
I have to be honest, it feels really good to have a remix get such a strong response, but I'm more than okay with this being a happy outlier. You mentioned, critically, in your last video that when a person makes a video that ends up being algorithm-friendly, people have a tendency to make only that type of well-performing video - sometimes at the cost of their creative integrity - and I don't ever want that to be the case here. This just happened to be a fortunate instance of where the song that I instantly fell in love with and really wanted to remix happened to be a hot commodity! If it happens again in the next year or so, I'll of course be delighted, but it's not something I'll actively pursue. These things should, ideally, happen organically!
I'm delighted that this video caught your interest again, and it means more than I can say that you're celebrating its success. Thanks again, Theølogy!! 💛
