I came back from vacation to find this amazing remix! Wow, you've really outdone yourself again! This just oozes style and charm! Gotta start with the amazing percussion. It's soo on point and grooves so well. It takes a lot to get me to physically move to music, and yet I can't stop. XDDD That snare is really clean but the snaps (or maybe claps? lol) that layer on it are so crunchy and extremely satisfying to listen to! Hi-hats are, as always, mixed perfectly. I really love the swing feel of the whole track. Recently I was reading about when swing is, in a traditional jazz sense. And it's not just about the playing a little off the beat, but also the annunciation of each note. Even in the section where the drums are playing right on beat, you've somehow managed that feeling! Also I absolutely love where you apply that hpf at 0:30 and 1:27! I love how the how the track starts with that pluck. It gives it a playful feel, but because the melodic context, it ends up being more unsettling than innocent. I really like when the main melody initially kicks in, it has a pretty minimal approach, which really lets drums shine. But the payoff hits so hard at 1:38 and the ending with a lot more emphasis on the lead synth! The song has a really good sense of pace; it slowly introduces new concepts, and merges them perfectly by the end! The song is somehow only two minutes, but if feels like a whole journey. When it ended on my first listen-through, I was conviced it was longer, which is a good thing imo. lol The piano and does a really good job helping everything feel tight and round out the sound. And when it gets more of a spotlight it sounds really cool with the high pass filter. The bass is also really tight and blends really nicely! Also the samples of Luigi and various ghosts throughout is a nice touch! Man Luigi's Mansion is such a special game to me. First Gamecube game me and my brother's had. It also terrified me because I was like 6 or 7. XD But wow what an amazing game. The atmosphere is absolutely incredible. Bruhhh thank you so much for the shoutout! It's so cool hearing you be inspired by me and use microtones! They honestly blend in so perfectly I didn't even notice the first time, but that happens when you get used to them. lol But yeah, thank you so much! Great work as always, and I can't wait to hear you've got coming next my friend!
Vividity, thank you so, so much for the wonderfully detailed and heartfelt comment! Reading your feedback always brings me a great deal of joy, and your comments have me smiling from start to finish. 😊 I hope you had an enjoyable vacation (it's a great time of year to travel, honestly), and I really appreciate that you're always keeping an eye out for new remixes on this channel! Man, I am so excited to hear that the music got you moving in time - I had hoped to create a fun groove through the timing and accents of the drums. Your mentioning the annunciation of each note is huge for me, as I always enjoy varying the velocities in the notes of the hi-hat, kick, and other drums for added emphasis and rhythmic drive. Thanks so much for mentioning the snare specifically, and I'm thrilled that you enjoyed it! There are several used throughout the remix, but the primary two layers are a couple of my favorite (and recently acquired) snares; the more metallic sounding one is called "reverbed trap snare" from SampleFocus, and the crunchy-sounding one is called "AMT Snare 14" from a pack by Arcade. It honestly felt like a really serendipitous combination, and again, I'm psyched that you liked the sound of it! Those high-pass sections were a lot of fun to include, too, and I hoped that with a bit of vinyl static, they might sound as if they were being played on an old record player or phonograph, even. 😁 Ah, I'm so stoked that you liked the instrumentation in the intro segment! As I mentioned to SteelDragon8, that introduction was heavily inspired by the song "Cry Baby" by Melanie Martinez. Kali introduced me to her music earlier this year, and I really love the instrumentals of her tracks. That one song in particular just hooked me instantly, and I knew I wanted to try something similar with Luigi's Mansion. I had been holding onto that idea for months, honestly, so I was really excited to implement it! ^_^ I'm really glad that you enjoyed the more subtle approach to the melody in the first half, too. Since the Dark Rooms theme really emphasized the supporting elements (especially since Luigi wasn't always guaranteed to be carrying the melody with his humming or whistling), it felt fitting to do so. And I really wanted to go all-out with that Talking With Ghosts refrain at 1:38, since the ghosts had free reign, with the candles being extinguished. That's awesome to hear that it felt like the song had been building up to that moment, and that it felt like a payoff - that was my exact intent! And wow, thank you for the kind feedback regarding the song flow! That's an aspect that I'm especially proud of in this remix, and I wanted to have everything fit into the arrangement in a meaningful way, where the song had a sense of progression and continuity. Seriously, it means so much that you described the song as feeling like a journey, and it's very high praise that you felt like the song covered a lot of ground in 2 minutes, so to speak. Since my remixes are only about 2:00 - 2:15 seconds long, I want to make sure that no section is ever repeated verbatim, and that the listener/viewer is presented with a good amount of variety. :D So glad to hear that you enjoyed both the instrumentation and use of SFX here! The game has _so_ many fun and memorable sound effects, that it was really tough to choose just a few of them. 😅And piano feels like a staple for the series, so I wanted to make sure that was a feature instrument, whether being used for the melody, as a supporting instrument, or even as a bass layer! Thanks for the feedback on the instrumentation and SFX usage specifically! I agree that this is truly a special game - before I started working full-time, I had a perennial tradition of playing through the whole game (or as much as I could stay awake for) during the night leading into Halloween. It was so much fun and really got me into the mood each year! And although I no longer have the time or gaming stamina for that, this is definitely a title that I can always come back to and jump right in without inhibition! I was still in middle school when the game came out, so certain parts were definitely scary for me, as well, and some parts I would have my older brother watch me or take over the controller, even. That's awesome, though, that you have such special memories with the game, and I couldn't agree more in regards to the incredible atmosphere it created! And yeah, absolutely, man! I had been wanting to mention your channel for quite some time now, but I also wanted to make a meaningful connection to the music and/or the creation process. Your recent microtonal remix was so intriguing and, well... just straight up cool that I really wanted to try that technique, as well. It's used rather subtly here, but just having an ideal opportunity to integrate a technique you inspired was a big deal for me. Heh, I imagine it'd be rather normal for you at this point, given your experience with the approach, but I really appreciate your keeping an ear out for it. :) Again, thank you so much for the detailed, thoughtful, and enthusiastic response. Likewise, I'm super looking forward to your next piece, whatever and whenever it might be! Take care, my friend! 💛
@@Equalyze Yeah my vacation was great! Left my country for the first time! But anyways lol, I really appreciate how deliberate each note feels with its velocity, like they all have a very specific intention! A great attention to detail! Man after hearing all this, I *really* need to start getting more samples. XD I'm gonna go check out SampleFocus when I'm done writing lol I haven't heard of Melanie Martinez, but I'll check her out! And bro it's always great to finally get to use an idea you've been holding onto for a while. Glad you got to make good use of it here! I absolutely love the forethought you put into this song! Like getting the arrangement to match the flow of the game is such a cool idea! I'm intrigued by the idea of the queer sections reflecting the darker rooms and such! Upon relistening, this song becomes even cooler somehow. XD I feel the same! I love it when songs don't repeat things exactly the same way, even if they're just little changes. And your songs always have so many details that it makes me wanna listen over and over again. lol Lol I used to say I would attempt to beat Luigi's Mansion on Halloween in one sitting, but I've never actually tried. I guess I *could* but at this point I'd rather just get extra sleep. XD Wow, you were in middle school and I was busy being almost born. lol It's really cool that people of different generations can still have so much nostalgia and attachment to the same things! And yeah my older brother bailed me out too. Yeah it was really cool to hear! I would say I'm *that* experienced with it. XD But yeah I really enjoyed your approach! Oh btw, idk if you're on Reddit, but I've found that r/microtonal is small, but surprisingly nice? XD Anyways, thank you so much again for the shoutout; it really means a lot! :) Anytime! I've had some big projects I've been working for a while! I should have like four or five things coming out pretty soon. One might even be out today! Thanks for your constant support! Can't wait to hear your next track!
Woah, this a really pleasant surprise! Thanks so much for the enthusiastic and uplifting feedback, 8BitDrummer!! As a big fan of yours, this feels like a genuine "made it!" moment for me. 😊 I'm delighted that you enjoyed the remix, and I loved hearing you play along to it. Thank you again for the kind comment! :)
@@MagicalKimmie I unfortunately didn't get to see it live, but I was able to watch the recorded livestream on Twitch. I was really touched by Jerod's enthusiastic and encouraging words, and the surge of support was unexpected - and very much appreciated! 😊 Thanks for watching, Kimmie, and for taking the time to comment! :)
@@Equalyze I think you have some great remixes and definitely deserve more subs and views. Going to keep suggesting your songs for Jerod to play, he's already played your Poke Center and Yoshi's Island Athletic remixes and he loved both.
@@MagicalKimmie This comment really made my day - thank you so much!! ^_^ It means a tremendous amount that you've been suggesting my remixes (I just saw your recent Silph Co. remix suggestion, by the way - thank you for that!) and I immensely appreciate that you're interested in continuing that. I didn't see either of those remixes performed yet, but I'm excited to look back in Jerod's archives for those! Again, thanks so much for your support and enthusiasm, Kimmie! 😊
WHOA!! Truly an incredible work of art, wow. It's truly a shame how the UA-cam algorithm doesn't favor small channels, since this remix is _easily_ constructed among the likes of someone with a million subscribers. I mean that whole-heartedly & will do my absolute best to promote your *fantastic* remixes, this is your best yet! Okay, can we discuss your EPIC transition at 0:30? Talk about the element of surprise! That was, pardon my french, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. And then the Boo sample comin' in hot to close out the section at 0:36...brining it back into the swing of things with that _crisp_ snap! oooo-weee this gave me the chills literally *and* figuratively! Those groovy synth at 1:00 were an excellent choice, and I love how you moved around the melody, it's very similar to something I would do! Adding spice to the original is key to preserving the nostalgia, but still having your own flair, and you absolutely nailed it. Well done!! 👏 Bringing back the lo-fi section around 1:18...GAH that gets me everytime! These visual transitions go very well with the music, I almost can't stop watching...and listening...and watching...THIS IS SO GOOD!! Last but not least, you wrap up the remix at 1:58 in the perfect way, that triplet melody section is literal exquisiteness, I'm at a loss for words. Equalyze, you have once again BLOWN me away with your creativity! 🤯👻
Player2, thank you _so_ much!! To hear you say that you feel the music is on par with that of larger channels means more than I can put into words (though I'll try!) And your interest in promoting the music on this channel got me emotional, to be honest. I don't know what to say other than a heartfelt thank you. 😊 I'm glad you enjoyed that transition at around 0:30! It seems to have gone over well, and I'm glad that you found it to be an unexpected twist! I really did want this remix to have some surprises, and since your music is always chock-full of them, it feels especially weighty coming from you. In my mind, I imagined Boo bringing the vintage-styled music to a halt and bringing back a more modern style, with a few glitch effects. In fact, I actually got the Glitch 2 plugin last month and had a lot of using it in this remix! 😁 And thank you for mentioning the finger snap, as well! I'm trying to be mindful of everything I've learned from people in the community, and that snap was a layered sample, with one of them placed slightly before to give it more of a "group" feel and not make it such a harsh singular attack. I really wanted it to sound like the Nintendo Switch snap, as if the lights were suddenly turned back on. 💡 I'm really psyched that you mentioned that specific part! Thanks for the feedback on the lead synths at 1:00! It's a 3-layered sound, with a bit more dominance in the lower octaves. You've mentioned previously that leaving space in the mix for other instruments to fill specific frequency ranges is key, and keeping it in the mid-range allowed this part to do just that! For real, with experienced veterans like you and many others in the VGM community, there are so many opportunities to learn, and I love that people rarely withhold such useful information from others. But getting back on track here, I completely agree that mixing up the melody with variations to rhythms, pitches, and adding/removing notes really spices things up while keeping that core essence intact! It's always a delicate balance, especially when working with beloved tunes, but it means so much to hear that you feel it was executed well here! Hehe, I'm stoked that you enjoyed both vintage segments! I felt that a one-off instance might feel kind of arbitrary and forgettable, so a second phrase in that style felt important to include. Also, it just feels very "haunted-mansion-ish" to have that classic, spooky kind of sound (I'm a big fan of the OG Addams Family series, by the way, so that may have had something to do with it)! 👻 I'm really happy that you liked the ending, as well, with that added triplet in the rhythm! One thing I love more than just about anything else in remixes is coming up with arranged endings, and I generally prefer those snappy endings that end with a "stinger" (I think that's what they're called), though endings with a lingering chord can be really nice, too. Unfortunately, it's the part of the video that gets heard by the fewest people, but I love that aspect nonetheless, and it makes my day when someone mentions it, like you have. ^_^ Again, thank you very much for the encouraging and enthusiastic comment. Feedback like yours really makes me feel like I'm on the right track, and it's incredibly motivating. I'll see you soon, my friend! 🎃
"GAHAHAHA!! My art collection is looking better all the time!" 👻 Andross, thanks so much for watching, and for the fun and encouraging feedback! I always love how enthusiastic and full of character your comments are, and they're always a joy to read. :D I can totally relate to the nostalgia factor here - I remember playing this game the day that GameCube released (wish it had released the month prior, but oh well) with my older brother and being so amazed by the graphics, music, and overall atmosphere. Even now, I have a tradition of playing it around Halloween - the game has aged extremely well! Thank you for the kind words, my friend, and I'm really happy to know that you enjoyed this remix video! ^_^
Kero, it's really good to see you! Thanks so much for taking the time to listen, and for the kind comment - I'm thrilled that this is a new favorite of yours! 😁
It was one of those songs where I couldn't think of what it sounded like off the top of my head, but the second I heard the first notes I remembered it!
Thank you!! I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed both the audio and visual effects here, and that you found them to be fun, as I had hoped. Because the original melody is rather simple, it provided a lot creative freedom to embellish with all kinds of weird and spooky stuff, so I'm happy to know that it came across well! 👻 Again, thanks so much for your recent comments - they're a joy to read! :D
Heh, another person mentioned that, as well! I haven't played any of the Plants Vs. Zombies games, but from the few PVZ songs I've heard, there are some really stellar tracks - I take this as a compliment! ^_^ Thanks very much for listening, Phansite, and for the comment!
this is amazing equalyze! love the spooky while playful vibes as usually i love all the details and supporting elements you add in, im just impressed by how much you manage to add in while it all sounding cohesive and with all the elements supporting each other seamlessly. in your case the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts. and then there are also some simple things which to me are so enjoyable to hear, like for instance i really like when that snap at the 16th second comes, or the swipe leading to the snare (is it the snare reversed?) from time to time, or the different textures in which you express the main melody. fantastic work, always a pleasure to listen to your stuff
Alter Loy, thank you so much! :D Your comment brings me a great deal of joy to read, and I appreciate that you always take the time to comment with such detail and care. It means a lot that you mentioned the supporting elements here, as I really wanted to focus on all the "in-between" parts, since the main melody is fairly simple and there are a good number of rests between notes. And wow, the way you described the music - that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts - really just hits home for me - thank you! For me, song flow is important, and I always want the instruments and segments to have a sense of continuity, even when there are major shifts in style. Your saying that means a great deal to me! 😊 I'm really glad you enjoyed the percussion and added percussive effects! That snap at 0:16 was something that I hoped would feel crisp and clean, and it's a layer of two different snap sounds, slightly offset by a fraction of a second for more of a "group" sound. As for that "shhh-" leading into the snare, I am using a pre-shifted snare for most of them, but on roughly every 4th snare, there's an added percussion sound ("Collider Wash 02" in FL Studio's stock percussion sounds) that reminds me a bit of an ocean wave that I like using for bigger impacts. I tapered down the volume of front end of the sample with a fade in and EQ'd some of the high end out for a bit of a lower sound. But like you said, reversing the snare leading into a regular hit is an effective technique that I like to use, as well! Thank you again for always taking the time and care to write such detailed and thoughtful comments. I'm looking forward to seeing what you've got planned for the Halloween Megamix! 🎃
I love this song so much from the creepy high notes to the looming bass. The Waltzing with Ghosts sections is so magical I always want to get up and dance with the nearest ghost to me. And the transitions and sound effects are tight, making this song listenable on repeat plays without fatigue. One of my favorites from EQ and a permeant addition to my Halloween playlist for years for sure.
Hey, Kali! Thanks so much for the detailed comment! ^_^ Your artwork really brought this video to life, and I literally couldn't have done it without you. 🎨 I'm glad that you liked the instrumentation here! I really enjoyed using those wavering high notes to add a sort of unsettling "voice", with the theremin and similar-sounding synths - to me, that's always been an essential Luigi's Mansion sound. I'm really proud of the bass elements here, and I wanted the bass to be a feature element - I'm glad you liked that aspect! Hehe, I'm delighted that you enjoyed the Talking with Ghosts segment - or as you put it more aptly, _Waltzing_ with Ghosts! That's exactly the feeling I was going for - more of a spooky ballroom kind of feel! Honestly, I love that Luigi's Mansion games have so many fun and creative ideas for rooms and general areas. 👻 Thanks for your specific mention of the transitions, as well! It means a lot to hear that, as the sound styles are considerably different in some consecutive sections; I'm happy that you felt the segues were smoothly implemented. :D And the SFX here were a lot of fun to use! It had been awhile since I had used sound effects to this extent, so it was really nice to have that opportunity here. That's very high praise that you feel this has a high degree of listenability - that's always my goal and hope! Again, it was a genuine pleasure to work on this with you - as with all the other remixes - and I really appreciate your taking the time to comment on the music. Can't wait for our next project! ❤
I've never beaten Luigi's Mansion but the soundtrack is very cool. Loved the remix of the Luigi's Mansion theme, Please do Dracula Battle from Super CastleVania IV.
Hey, MoxxieFan, thanks so much for listening, and for the kind comment - I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed this remix! ^_^ I agree that the soundtrack of Luigi's Mansion is superb (honestly, all 3 games have stellar OSTs), and I love that there are variations of the main theme throughout. I really appreciate the suggestion - thanks for taking an interest in that! I've actually never played any of the Castlevania games, or heard much of their soundtracks ("Vampire Killer" is one of the very few that I know), but I'll have to give that one a listen right after this. I do want to mention, though, that my friend Neon X Game Remixes made an incredible Castlevania remix last year of Bloody Tears, and he has another Castlevania remix coming out this month, if you're interested! Thanks again for taking the time to listen and comment! 🙂
@@Equalyze Indeed. All 3 of the Luigi's Mansion game's does have a great soundtrack. A great soundtrack for a side game serie's, I know you'll enjoy listening to Dracula Battle from Super CastleVania IV. It is an awesome track just like Dracula's Theme, Waterfall's and the other SCVIV track's, Neon X did remix the Dracula's Theme track from SCVIV & his take was superb having the 80's like vibe, I'm looking forward to Neon X's new CastleVania remix coming in 2 week's, Since it's October plus still Super CastleVania IV's 30th anniversary. Your Dracula's Theme remix should be a Halloween themed remix. Thank's for the input & have a great evening 😉✌.
At the risk of sounding overdramatic, this was a surreal listening experience. From beginning to end, I'm treated with wholly original** licks and melodies that sound in a way not only befitting of the original themes, but also sounding like something out of Totaka himself. It's truly astounding how you were able to blend all these different styles and sub-genres (Glitch-Hop chief among them) in a mix that really punctuates the classical instrumentation, whilst also not becoming a jarring listening experience when paired with the electronic drums. Speaking of, the breakdown at 0:53 absolutely slapped. This might be par for the course for you, as frankly all of your remixes have oozed of high quality character and liveliness, but it's still truly inspiring how much can be learned from the more subtle details, such as the quick ascension of notes that lead to the ending of the main melody at 1:59. Its the sheer amount of detail you're able to pull off with such style and ease, every time, that truly impresses me. You deserve more love on these tracks and on your channel in general. This was amazing work as always!! **At least I BELIEVE they're original, I haven't played the second game so I'm none the wiser, lol
Struttin Evil' Mushroom, it's really good to see you! Thank you so, so much for taking an interest in this remix, and for taking the time and care to write such a detailed and thoughtful comment! :) Wow, to hear that the music sounded surreal is very high praise - thank you! I am really heartwarmed that you mentioned the added supporting parts. The arrangement aspect is always one of the things I'm most proud of in a remix, so it means more than I can say to hear that you enjoyed the different countermelodies, descants, and added bits. 😊 And woah, to have those likened to Totaka's work is very flattering - thank you! I'm really happy to hear that you felt the different sound styles meshed well together, and that the transitions were fluid. I generally prefer electronic drums to acoustic ones (nothing against the latter, of course), and it's very heartening to hear that you felt the drums synergized well with orchestral instruments - thanks so much for saying so! Ah, and I'm psyched that you liked the segment at around 0:53 thatI hoped would sound like glitch hop - that's one of my favorite parts of the remix! ^_^ Wow, honestly, I don't know what to say other than... thank you! To hear that you feel the remixes on this channel are high-quality, full of character, and lively means a tremendous amount. To have all these subtle details both acknowledged and appreciated is hugely gratifying, and it makes me feel like I'm on the right track with the music. I'm very fortunate and grateful to have the support and encouragement of the people in the VGM community, and it's a major part of what motivates me and makes this endeavor so fulfilling. It's very kind of you to mention that, and I would say the very same to you! I'm really hoping that your channel starts getting much more of the traction it deserves. Thank you again, and I'll see you soon! :D
The theme for Luigi's Mansion is always been one of my favorite video games seems to ever exist. It's just so good and captures the vibe of the game perfectly and I love when Luigi starts to hum it. Your remix is perfect and captures and nostalgic vibe. Amazing 🎧
Hey, 7revor! It's great to see you again, and thank you for taking the time to listen to and comment on this remix - it means a lot! I'm psyched that you enjoyed this, and that you felt it delivered a nice dose of nostalgia - that's always one of my major goals! I agree that the main theme for Luigi's Mansion is just too good - there's something ridiculously catchy about it, and I'll find myself humming or singing it at random points throughout the year, even when I haven't played the game in awhile. It was so creative that they had Luigi nervously hum the theme instead of using a traditional lead instrument or synth - that's Nintendo for you! Thanks again for the feedback! :D
Yes, my favorite month of the year - I just can't get enough of it! Thanks so much, Anbu, for always taking the time to listen and comment - it means a ton! ^_^
I don't know how many times I've listened to this now - but it sure is a lot! This for is not only my favorite remix of yours, but it is also my favorite video in general that you've made as well! Everything is done so well, and once again, it clearly shows that patience is the key! First of all, the percussion here is insane!! You mention that I often pull off the drumming in my videos really smooth, but now it is surely time for me to give you some of the same attention! I think I hear variety in definitively each fourth beat, and you've made everyone unique as well, which requires a lot of work in my opinion. And the reverse clap (I think) is just the cherry on top of the icing! The mixing is also really well done! I seriously don't understand how you manage to give every segment its own kind of attention, and it's honestly insane how much details you've put in! Your instrumental choices are also really solid, as many of the synths you've picked is pretty new to your channel (at least the ones I've heard lmao) with the main lead at 1:39 grabbed most of my attention! man, can't wait to hear this in the Megamix! I'm sure it will get a lot of love!
Hey, AvoCado, thank you so much!! I am really happy to hear that you enjoyed this, and that it's both your favorite remix and video - that means a ton, coming from you. ^_^ And your mentioning that "patience is key" makes the effort that went into them feel so acknowledged and appreciated! I'm psyched that you enjoyed the percussive elements here! I honestly felt like this was some of my tightest yet, and I definitely had more fun with the drums and percussion here than in any other remix so far. It was a great opportunity to use some of the new samples I had acquired, and based on the encouraging feedback from you and everyone else, it seems they've gone over well! As far as that reverse sound leading into the 4th hit of most phrases, there is a reverse clap in there, but it's also stacked with one of the FL stock percussion sounds, which I think is called "Collider Wash 02" or something similar. It always sounded like an incoming ocean wave to me, and with a bit of EQ and sample shaping, I felt it made for a cool mini-riser into bigger snare & clap hits. I'm glad you liked it! :D Thanks so much for the kind feedback regarding the mixing specifically! I think that using more instruments in the mid- and low-range helped to leave more room in the upper frequencies, so it didn't end up sounding too brittle or harsh, as I've been prone to do in the past. 😅 I really tried to pay special attention to making sure there wasn't too much of any particular frequency range, so it's encouraging to hear that you felt the result turned out well! And thanks also for your remarks on the instrumentation - I had a lot of fun using some of the spookier sounds, which don't get used very often. The synth at 1:39 was one that I didn't originally plan on using, as it sounded too crazy, but then I thought, "when else am I going to have an opportunity to use something so wild?" and it quickly grew on me to the point where it became a new favorite - I'm glad you liked it, as well, and thanks for saying so! I'm excited to submit this to the Halloween Megamix, and thank you for the optimistic words! I hope people will enjoy it, and I'm thrilled that you did! Again, thanks for taking the time to listen and comment in such detail my friend - I'll see you real soon! :D
Ooo this is super groovy! This remix has so much going on and there's never a dull moment. I especially like the changes at 0:30 following that "BOO!" of the next part with the theremin. So good! And this is the kid in me, but the beat and some of the synths in places give me vibes of the old Goosebumps TV theme song. A bone-chilling start to the month and I am all for it!!
Hey, Danny, thank you so much for the thoughtful and detailed comment - it's always a genuine pleasure to read your feedback. 🙂 Hearing you say that you feel like there's always something interesting going on means a tremendous amount to me. I really wanted this remix to excel in the "in-between" details, and it was an opportunity to try out some new sounds and effects that have very specific usage. That segment at 0:30 was one of the few concrete ideas I had going into this remix, and I'm thrilled that it's been well-received - thank you! Dude, I completely know what you mean regarding the Goosebumps theme! That song always used to always scare me a bit as a kid, but I also remember rocking out to it because it had such a cool theme. Going back and listening to it, I can totally hear some similarities, and wow, am I flattered to have this remix compared to that legendary theme! And now you've sent me down a 90's rabbit hole... 😅 Thank you again for the kind words. Since having made my way out of the Mansion, I've found myself wandering around a Deep Castle.... I'll let you know my thoughts on that soon! 🏰
Thanks so much, TeruTeruSky! This is high praise, coming from you, and I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed it! 🙂 The bass and percussive elements were a big focus for me here, and your specific feedback on them means a lot - thank you! I'm also thrilled that you liked the pianos here, as they're a staple in just about every remix, in some form or another. I love using piano in a spooky context especially! 👻 Hehe, I couldn't resist putting that sound effect at 1:07... Luigi has some iconic lines in this game, and I felt like it just fit too well there. 😋 Again, I really appreciate your kind words here, and during the Megamix, as well! I'll see you soon! :D
LOVE this take on Luigi’s mansion!!! So fun and spooky! The beats fit the film very naturally. I feel like this would be the theme song to a Luigi’s Mansion animated series. Great work!
Arceus, thank you so much! Hearing this kind of feedback from you means a tremendous amount. And honestly, seeing the video described more as a film just gave me a whole bunch of warm fuzzies. 😊 Ah, I would totally be so psyched for a Luigi's Mansion animated series, as I've always been a big fan of shows that center around the spooky and playful side of Halloween - I'm flattered that you feel this would fit well as the theme song for such a series! Thanks again for taking the time to listen, and for the kind words! :)
@@AlmightyArceus Oh, definitely - I had been meaning to submit this! 😅 Thanks very much for asking, Arceus, and for the opportunity to be included in the Megamix! I'll get right on that! :)
Hell yeah!! I love this spooky little tune! 🎃 This theme is iconic! It perfectly captures the whimsical and downright frightening theme of October - but it's still light hearted as noted by those opening xylophones (that may or may not be skeletons playing them 💀). For real it's hard for me to describe but it's so fun to listen to. Almost like something you'd hear out of Banjo Kazooie! There's so much at play here, the little spurts in the high hats followed by that clean sounding smack! It really sets up the backbone (🦴) of the track to be laid back and almost groovy. I was immediately drawn into the track from the drumming alone. Moving on, that bass paired with xylobones (☠) just hits home for me. It's like I'm sneaking through a haunted house but I'm not really in any danger. Then the lead comes in solo (like your tiptoeing through the house) but after the first section you hear that signature boo ghost laugh (I think, it might be different for this game) and then your hit with the rest of the leads! And right as the little ghost shows up - I love it! Not to mention this first part is finalized by the visualizer popping up in time to the beat. Good stuff. And that filter effect does wonders for a transition. It has that old timey vinyl feel to it paired with the desaturation of the colors only to be greeted by a terrifying BOO! (I thought they were supposed to be smiley faces 👻). Plus I like the screen glitches on those stuttering high hats - really makes these videos all the more fun to watch. Not to mention that section at 0:37 sounds eerily similar to Bowser's Castle from Yoshi Story. Anyway after that I can't fully describe what's going on when the yellow ghost shows up - but I absolutely love it. You get this sick drum & bass solo followed by this reverse kick that just sounds so good. That section honestly reminds me of something out of Terraria in the Corruption biome. Damn, the more I listen to your stuff the more I wanna drop Caustic and dive into FL Studio. There's all these little things that just stick out to me and it's hard to replicate a lot of that with Caustic. But I digress... Halfway through the track I love how we get a quick recap of all the ghosts (and their accompanying flame colors on the candles) before we dive into another transition and what do we get!? A GRAND FINALE! That Violin and screechy synth really tie everything together for this theme. I'm impressed man, this has to be one of my favourite remixes you've done so far. And I can't stress this enough but without Kali's art it just wouldn't be the same. To see the visuals improve alongside the music is nothing but inspiring. Keep it up I can't wait to see what's in store for the next remix! 💎 *Hey Luigi check out this sick Mario painting I got from that mansion! Oh you're heading in there? Just be careful, there's some weird guy rambling about spirits or something. I told him to take a hike and call the ghostbusters!*
Titan, my man! Thank you so, so much for the heartwarming, generous, and - as always - entertaining comment(ary)! This was a genuine treat to read. 🍬 I love the colorful adjectives you used to describe the style and atmosphere here - whimsical and light-hearted - as that was _exactly_ my intent here! I wanted to embrace the fun and spooky side of October, which I much prefer to the more morbid and gruesome end of the season. I've always loved that Luigi's Mansion is never actually scary, just eerie and a bit chilling at times. 😬 Your likening it to the music of Banjo-Kazooie is huge praise, and I lowkey had inspiration from Banjo's musical style, especially in regards to the pizzicato plucks and xylophones. Speaking of which... Man, are you reading my mind?! I specifically chose a mallet instrument with more "clack" than pure tone for precisely that reason! I wanted it to have a "bone-y" sound, as if it were being played by a skeleton on its own rib cage or something. Also, *xylobones* is just straight-up genius. Holy heck, love that term you coined so much! And just as much do I enjoy your expert wordplay with those funnybone puns! 🦴 I'm absolutely stoked that you enjoyed the percussive elements here, and those stuttered hi hats are one of my favorite pieces in the drums. Their distinct sound and short duration made them both fun and flexible to work with. And one thing that I've found is that having a small rise into a snare hit or clap (sometimes called a "pre-shifted" snare/clap) helps to add a bit of extra impact. In some cases, it's just a matter of reversing the sample and removing the initial punchy transient, then having that clipped, reversed sample lead into the regular sample. I forget exactly who in the community I learned it from, but it's been a real game-changer for me, and I'm glad it helps to make those hits more punchy and clean sounding. That first boo laugh you mentioned is (I think) laughter that occurs at certain points during the game, where the sound seems to come from the walls of the room itself. I don't know if a particular ghost makes that sound at 0:16, but it felt like a fun way to introduce the ghosts into the visuals! And again, the way you described the instrumentation of the first segment - tiptoeing - really feels a propos! Thanks also for mentioning the beat circle emerging in time with the beat! That one was a bit tricky to pull off, admittedly, but I'm super glad you mentioned it specifically! :D Hehe, the vintage-sounding section seems to have gone over well, and I'm thrilled that it has! I feel like Luigi's Mansion is a perfect fit for the old sound you'd expect to hear from a phonograph or something, and I love when haunted houses include rusty old music like that. My idea was that Boo prefers modern music and decided to bring the track to a halt and then bring the beat back with a bit of extra spice. The aforementioned hi hat stutters sounded kind of glitchy to me, and I thought it'd be fun to reflect that in the visuals, when Boo is on the screen. I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the interaction there! And dude, I totally hear what you mean, in regards to it sounding like the Yoshi's Story castle theme! Wow, I haven't played that game in AGES... Ah man, that part when the yellow ghost shows up is my favorite! This was the part that I wanted to sound slick and groovy, with most of the action happening in the drums and bass. My music tends to be a bit more heavy in the high end, so it felt like a good opportunity to keep things low. I've only heard a few remixes of Terraria's OST, but I'll definitely have to check out the theme for the Corruption biome (heck, that just sounds cool)! I do have to say that the more I delve into FL's features, the more I'm realizing what you can do with different mixer effects and messing with samples. That said, familiarity and experience with a program are huge, and I feel like you're the guy who can push Caustic to its limit for as long as you decide to work with it - truly! Back to the remix, man, I love that you interpreted it as a grand finale, because that exactly what I was hoping it would come across as, when all the ghosts come in for one last throwdown! The shrill synth you mentioned was a bit harsh for me at first, but the more I used it, the more it grew on me, and I thought, "if ever there's a time to use this ghost-voice synth, this is IT!" so I went all-in with it. I hope it's not too grating to listen to! 😅 And thank you so much for always supporting and encouraging not just me, but the people I'm privileged to work with. I'm reliant on Kali's artistic talent for these, and the ability to plan videos with her has been critical for making it all come together. It means more than I can say that you feel there's continuous improvement in both the music and visuals, and your detailed and candid feedback is incredibly motivating. 🎵If there's something strange... but it sounds too good.... Who you gonna call?.... RE-MIXERS!!!🎵 I ain't afraid of no OST's!
ILM, thank you so much, man! Your taking the time to comment on each remix means a huge amount to me, and it's always a genuine pleasure to read your feedback. ^_^ I'm delighted that you liked the percussive elements here, as this was the most fun I've had with drums and percussion yet! And thank you also for mentioning the shift to swing rhythms in the latter half - so glad you liked that detail, as well! Again, thank you for the kind words. Happy Halloween (season), and I'll see you soon!
This is so good! The percussion and sounds effects elevate this track so well and the momentary high-pass filter is awesome too! Not to mention the amazing visuals!
Catorstrax, thanks so much, man! It's always a pleasure to read your thoughtful feedback. :D I'm glad you enjoyed the percussive elements and sound effects in particular, as those were a key focus for me here. The high-pass filters were something I enjoyed adding, as well - thanks for mentioning them specifically! And I appreciate your kind remarks regarding the visuals - working on them is a different kind of effort that I really enjoy. ^_^ I'm looking forward to hearing and commenting on your and Caleb's collaborative remix, as well - see you soon, friend! :)
Aimee, thank you very much for the thoughtful comment! The piano is one of my favorite instruments here, and I love how versatile it is, being able to morphed into a variety of sounds, from fancy to old-timey. And thanks also for mentioning the animations specifically - I wanted to sort of recreate that scene from early in the game where the ghosts yell at Luigi for putting out their candles. 🔥 Thank you again for the continuous support and encouragement - of course, I'll be keeping an eye out for your fall and Halloween creations, as well! 👻 See you soon!
Oh man this is so spooky. Phenomenal job as always my man! The trap-esque drumming is a pretty creative take and it works super well (insert funny joke about Mario being *trapped* in a painting here). The snare pops super nicely and creates a nice vibe with the low wave bass. Nice job with the clicks and other percussive elements! I really like the addition of small sound effects here and there. My favourite part of the remix has to be the switch to swing tempo from 1:00 onward. I can feel the ghosts swinging from side to side while snapping their fingers to the beat. Just keeping the rest of the song in swing might've become boring, but this remix mixes the instrumentation up so often that nothing gets stale. As you stated yourself, the song's different parts do make it feel like a journey of sorts. It's an idea that I like to adapt as well, and it's executed really cleanly here. Arranged endings are always a treat too, and you don't disappoint! I'd also like to give a special shout-out to the super interesting use of microtonal blue notes. Pretty rare to run into those in electro music, but it's such a nice addition. Just a great job all around the board! Happy Halloween! 🎃 You keep improving so much with every piece you make, this was truly a blast to listen to!
Levixu, thank you so much for the incredibly kind and detailed comment - this really makes me happy to read! 😊 Heh, jokes like the one you mentioned are right up my alley - I'm always down for stuff like that! 👻 But I really appreciate your feedback on the drums specifically! The different snares used throughout are some of my favorites that I've come across recently, and have been looking for an opportunity to use. I'm glad you liked them! I'm glad the SFX came across well here! In the past, I've admittedly gone a bit overboard with sound effects, so now I'm trying to use them with greater intent and more discerningly. Your recent "Cornered!" remix is an exemplar of how sound clips can be tactfully integrated into a remix, and that's the kind of balance I'm striving for! Ah man, I love the way you described the swing section, with the ghosts grooving to the music - that's the sort of mental image I was going for here, like the mansion ghosts were having a bit of a dance party (at the expense of Luigi's nerves). And I'm thrilled that the use of different styles here helped the song to feel more dynamic and varied - that's really what I wanted to achieve in this remix, so hearing that means a lot. If that didn't already have me beaming with excitement, knowing that you enjoy these arranged endings just warms my heart immensely - thank you!! Thank you for keeping an ear out for those microtones, too - it means a lot that you take an interest in the description. :D And hearing that you're noticing continual improvement is very high praise - and it really motivates me to continue working towards a more polished sound with each remix. Again, thanks so much for the thoughtful comment, my friend. Happy Halloween to you, as well! 🦇
Hanabi, thank you so much for the heartwarming comment! Honestly, I'm thrilled to have another opportunity to participate in a megamix, and I'm excited to see which Nintendo franchises people will create spooky remixes out of! (also, your comment on the announcement video was great XD) Thank you for the specific remarks regarding the mixing and sound balancing! That's a specific area that I'm trying to really improve in this year. And I'm delighted that you enjoyed the pianos used here. There are a few pianos, in fact: "Dream Piano" and "Vurlitzer" from FLEX, and a (free!) plugin that I've used for over 2 years now called "Keyzone Classic", which has a beautiful default piano - highly recommended, if you're interested! It makes me really happy that you always read the descriptions and comment specifically on the teamwork and inspiration behind each remix - thank you so much for that! I'm very fortunate to have Kali's artistic support in nearly every video, and it's been awesome having the opportunity to work with other visual artists, as well, like I did with Aimee last month. Vividity has been a big inspiration for me, as well, both as a musician and person. You and Vividity are among the most passionate and generous people I've met in the VGM community, and I don't say that lightly! Thanks again, Hanabi, and I'll be seeing you soon in your comments section - looking forward to hearing your entries in the Halloween Megamix, as well! :D
Hey, J Zombie, thanks so much for listening, and for the kind and enthusiastic comment! ^_^ It really makes me happy to hear that you enjoyed the remix! 👻
Hey, Beavis, it's great to see you again! Thank you so much for the kind words - being described as underrated feels like really high praise, and it means more than I can say that you feel a lot of effort is put into these videos. Making remixes brings me a lot of joy, as well as knowing that other people enjoy them, too! 😊
Luigi, thanks so much! I'm thrilled to know that this remix from your favorite game is one that you really enjoyed! I never know which track will be a person's favorite (or from their favorite game), but I always hope that when it is, it meets their expectations. Your feedback is always very much appreciated, and I'm grateful for the kind and encouraging words! ^_^
@@luiginumberone1179 Oh, are you referring to the Luigi playlist? It looks like you have some great remixes and OST selections there. Nice work on that - it feels very emblematic of your channel! :)
Indeed! It's the best time of the year, in my humble opinion. 🎃 Thanks so much for listening and for always taking the time to comment, Muitfandom Fangirl. :)
Super Matt Boy, it's great to see you, man! Thanks so much for taking the time to listen and comment. :D I'm really glad that you enjoyed the instrumentation here, as well as that Luigi voice clip - that part was one of my favorite little details! 😁
Nice! Love hearing a tune in half time. Good job with the rhythms. The snare really comes out thick and pronounced. Great use of sound effects too. Also glad to hear another spooky tune from you!
Void, so good to see you, man! Thanks so much for checking this one out, and for the detailed feedback - I know you have a penchant for spooky tunes, and it means a lot that you enjoyed it! :D Thank you for the specific remarks regarding the drums - one of my main goals here was to really integrate some more pronounced and unique percussive sounds, and it was a great opportunity to try some of the more unwieldy drum samples I had recently acquired. Honestly, so much of what I've learned in regards to drums have been from listening to your music and from your drum tutorials, such as the importance of layering, increasing sustain, and EQ'ing the drums to shape each sound precisely. And thanks also for mentioning the SFX - Luigi's Mansion just has too many good sound effects, between his nervous cries and the ghosts' laughter. I'm glad you enjoyed them! 👻 Hope all's going well with you, my friend, and Happy Spooktober! 🎃
Hey, Ted, thank you very much for listening, and for the thoughtful comment! It means a lot to hear that you enjoyed the flow of this remix, as well as the layering of different instruments and elements. This was definitely the most fun I've had working on a remix in quite some time! :D
DS to DS, thank you very much! That's very high praise, given the huge number of creative and high-quality Luigi's Mansion remixes out there - I'm so happy you enjoyed this! It means a lot that you take an interest in the music here, and it really motivates me to keep working towards continual improvement. Thank you again! ^_^
Thank you very much for listening and commenting! There actually is a Yoshi's Island Athletic Theme remix on the channel from last year - it's one of my favorites, and I hope you'll enjoy it, too! :D
Equalyze, this is absolutely phenomenal! Starting off with the instruments that you used, WOW! They all work so well together! From melodies, to bass, to percussion, it's tight and clean! I especially love the drop at 1:39. It feels especially pronounced and spooky with that vibrato! And having all three ghost in frame really solidifies that spooky feel! It sounds amazing on my Bose sound bar! As far as arrangement goes, I'm blown away! You really made that intro your own and I love it! I absolutely love that glitch hop drum groove going on throughout! All of the fills and switch ups are very welcoming to the ear! Going back to what you had mentioned in the description (about the effect of exploring through different rooms). You executed that perfectly! I especially love the transition starting at 0:25, how it starts with a riser to downer, combined with a low pass, a fuzzy effect, and then the boo sound effect followed by a master pitch down to nothing and then back up! I also have to mention the visual transition there because of how phenomenal it is! Now that I do my own stuff, it's a lot easier to appreciate everything that you're executing here visually. It all starts off with the spooky smoke, transitions into the next scene with a blur and the smoke parting, to reveal the painting! I'm a huge fan of how it tilts throughout and it even looks like the ghost are grabbing the painting and moving it! Back to 0:25 with visuals... WHAT!? The attention to detail is insane in combination with the musical transition! Starting it off with the polar bands changing in unison with those descending notes (And for the first time I've noticed that you use more than one polar!), a luminosity shift in the background, then a boo coming in with an RGB shift, a blur, and fade! And at 0:57, I love how the boo's tongue fades in before the boo! That flame (1:23) also feels like it's the only thing keeping the ghost away, and once it's extinguished, the two boos come in on the left and right! And I also just noticed how the candles are also extinguished at the drop! :O That outro is insane as well! Both the music and visuals! My favorite part of the outro are the repeated notes at 1:58 where the ghost's sneak back into the frame momentarily! You absolutely killed this remix man! I look forward to see what else you have in store for us! Keep it up man! :D
Woah, SteelDragon8, thank you so much!! Reading this comment just has me bursting at the seams with happiness, and I'm sincerely humbled by the detailed and generous feedback. 😊 Thank you for the kind remarks regarding the instrumentation! Some of the leads used here are a bit more bold than what I usually go for, but it felt like a good opportunity to use them and get used to that sound style - especially the part at 1:39 that you mentioned. There was this crazy sound that I found in a Sytrus pack that I downloaded not too long ago, and right when I heard it, I was like, "woah, too intense..." 😅 But when I got to this part of the project, it had lingered in the back of my mind, and turned out to be just the kind of chaotic sound I was looking for (well, chaotic by my standards, anyway...) In any case, I'm glad you felt it got the house - and your speakers [also, a Bose sound bar?... nice!!] - bumping, in tandem with the ghosts shaking the frame - thanks for mentioning that! Ah, I'm so glad that you liked the intro! I'll be the first person to admit, as I've mentioned before, that intros aren't really one of my strong suits. Unless I have a very specific idea in mind, it's definitely a struggle to come up with something that generates immediate interest. Thankfully, I did have very precise inspiration here! Months ago, Kali turned me on to the music of Melanie Martinez, and the instrumentals of her songs are what really caught my ear. The intro segment here, in terms of both instrumentation and arrangement, derive heavy inspiration from her single "Cry Baby", and I had been holding on to that idea for literal months! Okay, time to get back on track here... 😌 I'm psyched that you enjoyed that glitch-hop styled drum groove, with the different mix-ups and fills - thanks for saying so! The basic beat and slower tempo really provided lots of opportunities to add in details, and I really wanted to enrich the beat as much as possible. It's a bit of a conglomerate of different drum and percussion samples that I liked, with a whole lot of trial-and-error... mostly error. :p But thankfully, there's a lot more freedom with percussive elements than with tonal instruments! The part you mentioned at 0:36 that pitches down, then up is actually thanks to the Glitch 2 plugin! I had been on the fence about it for awhile, and the need for it here sealed the deal. I mainly used the Tape Stop effect in this remix, but that alone was worth the price of admission, I felt. And thank you for your mention of the visual transition there, as well! Speaking of which, it feels so rewarding to have a fellow ZGEV user remark on specific aspects of the visuals. For real, I'm just overjoyed that you pointed out specific effects in the video, and with such precision! Thank you so much for taking the time and care to point them all out, and I'm both impressed and heartwarmed by your attention to detail. As of a little over a year ago, I've started using at least 2 instances of Polar, just for some more variety in the color, and I also layer it with a bloom effect. Having certain effects (like bloom) apply to only particular layers in the ZGEV was tricky until I found out that you can use "YouLean From Buffer" in the "Blend" category to manipulate consolidated layers that have been marked sequentially with the "To Buffer" option by selecting them as the Image Source. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this was a complete game-changer, and it made managing targeted layer effects so much more manageable! But all that aside, I'm elated that you enjoyed the usage of different effects here! Being able to work so closely with Kali is an extremely fortunate situation, and she generally provides the images as separate layers so they can be used in different ways (like Boo's tongue appearing first, as you mentioned). And holy smokes, I am so pumped that you described my _exact_ intent with that flame petering out at 1:23! I wanted it to feel like the only thing keeping the ghosts in check was the presence of flames, and once the lights went out, they were free to cause mayhem, like in the aforementioned segment at 1:39. And your remarks on the ending have me smiling widely, as well! For real, it feels so nice to have these things noticed and appreciated - thank you!! 😭 Again, it feels like a mere thank-you isn't enough to properly convey my thanks, but I am perpetually grateful for your enthusiastic encouragement and support. If I know you, you've likely got something thematic in the works for this month, too! 🎃Regardless, I very much look forward to your next release, my friend. I'll see you soon! :D
@@Equalyze I replied to this earlier today but I think it got deleted off of UA-cam. (Probably because of the link that I attached, I'll touch base on that later) But anyway, thanks so much for the detailed reply Equalyze! It's awesome that you had an inspiration behind the intro! I have experimented a LOT in the past few weeks with ZGEV, so that definitely helps with my attention to detail when it comes to visuals. Also, It's so cool that Kali helps you brings your visuals to life, her artwork is phenomenal! And I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed my comment! :D As far as this month goes, keep your eye out for the 15th... >:) Also on a side note, I was watching The8BitDrummer on twitch today and he played your track! I had previously linked the vod with the specific time stamp but I think that's how my comment got deleted. So instead I'll tell you the time stamp, 1 hour, 25 minutes, and 20 seconds on the vod labeled "It's DRUMS!"
@@SteelDragon8 Thanks so much for the detailed response, SteelDragon!! I'm sorry that your initial comment was deleted (I never received any notifications for it, sadly), and I very much appreciate your taking the time to comment at length once again. WOAH, that's insane! I had no idea about that remix being included in the 8-Bit Drummer's recent set until you told me just now. I just went and watched it - and thank you for including the specific timestamp! - and honestly, it feels a bit surreal to hear it being played along to. He even mentioned at the end that someone had requested it, so someone out there really has my back! It really warms my heart to know that. 😊 But I really can't thank you enough for letting me know about this! That's awesome that you've been using the working with the ZGEV so much lately! October 15th has definitely been on my radar since you posted that Short, and the only thing I fear is missing out on its initial release... it's going to be a great weekend, though! 🎃 By the way, if you ever have any questions about the ZGEV, I'd be more than happy to help however I can! Thank you again, my friend, for taking such a heartfelt interest in the channel, and for supporting the artists I work with, as well. Kali and I are both extremely grateful! ^_^
Hehe, that would be madness! Not saying I'd mind, though...😼 Thank you very much for the kind comment, Broomietunes, and for the mention of that referenced track - I never knew it went by that name, as well! But I'm glad you enjoyed how it fit into the mix! :D This month has been great so far, thank you! And the same to you, my friend! 🎃
Really digging the instruments in this one! I also love how the track progresses and changes, it brings so much life into it. Great release for spooky month!
Bardometer, thanks so much, man! It means a lot to hear that you liked the instrumentation and song progression here - your songs are so varied and yet flow so well, so hearing that from you is huge. I'm so glad you enjoyed this one, and again, thank you for taking and interest in it! 👻
Hey, Franz, it's great to see you! Thanks so much for listening and for taking the time to comment. :D Luigi's Mansion is honestly such a good game, and I'm glad that you felt this remix captured the spooky Halloween vibe I was going for! Happy Spooktober! 🎃
A true classic! Expected to see at least one person post this, and I was not disappointed. It's always neat to see all the different takes people do on the theme! I gotta say, I really like how you changed up some of the rhythms, really gives it a unique charm! Not to mention the part around 1:27, I didn't recognize that at all, and I mean that in a very good way! Managed to add in a bunch of twists while still keeping the flow of the original song, very good job with that!! Great to hear another remix, and I look forwards to the next one!
Penguin King, thank you very much!! It's always a joy to read your comments, and I'm grateful that you always take the time to listen so intently and comment in detail. 😊 This is definitely a popular choice for remixers, and I had wanted to remix this song for quite some time now. The original Luigi's Mansion is a game I can always go back to, and I've made a perennial tradition of playing it most years around Halloween, especially since it can be completed in one or two extended sittings. I'm glad that you felt this version stood out among the assortment of remixes out there. ^_^ Thank you for mentioning the rhythms specifically! That was one of the aspects that I'm most proud of, and I tried to include some more pattern-breakers and twists just to keep things a bit unpredictable. As for the part at 1:27, that's a segment from Talking With Ghosts in the game. I wanted to include at least one reference to another track from the game, and that one synergized nicely with the main theme, I felt.... in any case, I'm thrilled that you enjoyed it! Again, thanks for the thoughtful comment, and it means so much to hear that you look forward to future remixes on the channel - the very same to you, my friend! :D
@@Equalyze No problem, it's always a joy to reply to your replies! I can see why you've wanted to remix it for so long, popular choices are popular for a good reason! That's actually a great tradition to have, I wish I had that kind of commitment to a game! It's a great game all and all, and difficulty wise has a perfect balance of simplicity and challenge. It makes sense that this one did stand out though seeing as you play this game once a year! No, thank you for using the rhythms! I love a twist in rhythm when I notice it, it's always a very welcome surprise. I actually didn't notice at all that it was Talking With Ghosts, it's been forever since I've listened to that song. You definitely made the right call by using that one to put in there, it felt very natural! Anytime, I always like to write these types of comments! Means a lot to hear the same from you, I have no idea when I'll finish what I'm working on, but it's going to be worth the wait. It's by far the most effort I've put into any work yet! See you in the next remix, whether it be from you or I!
@@thepenguinking2170 It's true! Although I do like the hidden gems from underrepresented OST's, the iconic tunes can be just as fun sometimes. And thank you! My gaming battery has decreased in capacity over the years, where 2 hours feels like a lot to play in a single session, but it's a tradition I try to keep intact - last year I ended up playing Luigi's Mansion 3 with Kali, though. As I'm sure you've heard, it's an excellent game, with some fantastic level themes and a lot of genuine "woahhh" moments! Again, I'm really glad that you enjoyed the rhythms, and it really motivates me to keep trying new pattern-breakers and techniques! And it's really nice to hear that you felt Talking With Ghosts fit in to the arrangement quite naturally - thank you! I just learned today from @Broomietunes that it also goes by "Eerie Conversations" - quite a fitting name! 👻 Ah man, I am really psyched to hear that your upcoming project is your most involved work yet. Good on you for taking the time that's needed, and likewise, I look forward to seeing you in the next remix. Thanks again, Penguin King! ^_^
I just got this notice ony my phone that a new Equalyze remix was released. When I saw that it was something from Luigi's Mansion I immediately thought it must be this year's more spooky remix. First of all, amazing production. Sound, panning and levels are just perfect, I'm so impressed! It's even kind of flawless in my opinion. The first thing I took notice of (besides the perfect instrumentation choices) was that pitch effect here and there, it sounds so cool and fit really well into this song. I believe this is your absolute best remix so far, I really dig it, the drum beat, effects, spooky synths and song sectioning are so appealing to me. Feels just right for the upcoming Halloween! I hope this become a viral remix of yours, because you really deserve it. There must be so much work behind this, and that art by Kali is fused perfectly into the music. Hats off for your video editing as well, so good my friend! I'll see you soon!
Neon X, thank you so much for the wonderful comment, and for sharing this remix! When I got the notification for both your comment and share, I was truly overjoyed!! 😊 It means a tremendous amount that you're always keeping an eye out for new remixes on the channel, and I'm glad that you could tell right away that this was in keeping with a Halloween tradition that I'm trying to establish, like many other remixers in the community. 🎃 Coming from you, positive feedback on the overall production is very high praise - thank you! I really wanted to make sure the mixing here was tight, as my past remixes have been a bit too brittle and peaky in the high end. Slowly but steadily, I'm trying to learn from the example that you and others in the community have been setting all along, in regards to making space for each instrument and cutting out redundant frequencies while using stereo spread to keep things more dynamic and balanced. I'm thrilled that you noticed the pitch-bending effects, as well! FL Studio's slide notes are great for individual instruments, but for audio clips (like SFX) and multiple tracks, I looked for something that could do a bit more. Thankfully, there's a plugin called Glitch 2 which has some really neat effects, including a Tape Stop that was exactly the kind of effect I was looking for here. Thank you for commenting on that aspect specifically! :) And wow, to hear that you feel this is my best work yet is really meaningful - thank you! This really felt like a level-up for me (I still like to think of progress in that manner you described over a year ago), and I was able to learn quite a bit with this project. It's definitely one of my personal favorites, and I'm so grateful for the response it's gotten thus far. Your sharing it makes a huge difference, and I can't thank you enough for that, truly! Once again, my heartfelt thanks, friend. I'll be seeing you soon on your channel, and I hope you're having a great month so far! 👻
Why am I just now hearing this?!? Omg this is so good! Great job on this Equalyze! I love how much effort you put into your videos, not just the music but the art (with the help of kali) and how everything is so polished, like there’s a story behind each remix. Love it!
Sculpted Nostalgia! Thanks so much for checking out this remix video, in spite of being past spooky season (although, is there ever an inopportune time for Luigi's Mansion? 👻) I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed this, and knowing your love for the game, it means a lot that you felt the visuals and music came across well here! It genuinely warms my heart to know that you appreciate the effort that goes into the video elements, and that you feel there's a bit of a story to be viewed each time. I always want to video aspects to be engaging, and to interact with changes in the music, and sometimes the music and video game lends itself a bit more to that - that was definitely the case here! There were so many ideas, but with time as the major constraint, Kali and I tried to infuse as much spooky fun into the video as we could. And honestly, if we're talking about effort and polish, your videos are the exemplar for that! I love going back to your sculpture creation videos and watching the process, and it really conveys much of the detail work that goes into it, and what a labor of love it is. I'm sure time has been a constraint for you, as well, but I'm very much looking forward to any videos you might have planned for the future! Thanks again, my friend, and I'll talk to you soon! ^_^
Luigigirl, thanks so much for the kind and enthusiastic comment! ^_^ I really appreciate your taking an interest in this video and channel, and I'm very happy to hear that you enjoyed the remix (fantastic PFP, by the way)! 👻
@@luigigirl3 Thank you!! I really appreciate the support and encouragement. :D And yeah, most definitely - it's a great pose and I love the way the original mansion is integrated into the image background!
Hey Equalyze, The mood of your music is absolutely perfect I confirm that you managed to do what you wanted as you said in your description. In addition, the visual of your videos are more and more beautiful and successful: this allows you to watch a video in addition to listening to a remix as beautiful as yours. And oh my god those transitions :0 Continue on this path, your listeners will always be there to support you. 🔥
Guimu, thank you so much for the kind and encouraging comment! 😊 I really appreciate that you took an interest in the description, and that you kept an ear out for those aspects of the remix. And thank you for the feedback regarding the transitions! That was a particular element that I hoped would come across well in the music. Thanks for mentioning the visuals, as well! The ZGameEditor Visualizer is something I really love working with, and it's fun trying to make videos that interact with changes and sound effects in the music. I love that you use its effects creatively in your videos, as well! Reading the last sentence in your comment was a bit emotional for me, to be honest. I've been incredibly fortunate to have such a genuine community of people to interact with on this channel, and the support has been nothing short of amazing. I'm grateful to be a part of that community, and I want to help support and motivate others, as well! I definitely plan to continue with this for as long as I'm able (which I hope is a very long time!) and I'll be here to support your journey, too! 🌟
So cool! I love the presentation of the video, and the remix is a great take on this iconic theme. I love the synths and the bass you used, they fit so well and I feel that you succeded in making a remix that is both spooky and elegant. Also, I love the transition at 0:30! It took me by surprise and it adds a lot of variety to the remix!
DarlingJack, thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind words regarding both the music and the visuals, and I'm especially happy with how they turned out in this one. It means a ton that the precise feelings I was going for came across in the music, and thank you for always taking an interest in the description, and for keeping an ear out for specific qualities mentioned in it. Hehe, I'm glad that transition at 0:30 turned out to be a fun surprise! I was hoping it would segue into an old-fashioned sound, as if being played on a phonograph or a dusty record player. I feel like that particular style is featured in each of the games, so I wanted to try my hand at that, as well. Thanks so much for mentioning it, and again, for your encouraging feedback! ^_^
YESSS!!!!! This is such a good choice for October bro. And woah, the mixing on this is absolutely CRAZY. Everything sounds so clean and I’m always impressed by your use of sound effects like the Boo laughs and the occasional Luigi grunt. It’s so dang impressive. I’m also loving the percussion going on here. Such a catchy rhythm! That was such a short but sweet song. This is definitely my favorite remix that you’ve made so far. What a banger 😫 thank u for making this work of art. Halloween just got more hype 😈
Typho, thank you so much, man! Your comment really warms my heart and brings a big smile to my face. 🙂 I feel like October is a critical opportunity to go for something spooky and have a bit of extra creative freedom to try out a particular category of instruments and effects that might not fit in many other situations. And Luigi's Mansion in particular is a game I've wanted to cover for quite some time now. I'm really glad you liked the selection here! It means a tremendous amount to hear that you feel the overall sound is clean, as that's something I've really been working on this year. My past mixes were a bit on the brittle side, and I think a little too harsh in the high end, but following the example of people like you in the community has helped me to get a sense for how to better balance things and tone down peakiness. Thanks for mentioning the sound effects, and I'm glad that you liked them! The percussion was also a big focus for me, too, and I really wanted to enrich the basic rhythms with added percussion, hi hat rolls, and different mix-ups - hearing you mention them specifically feels nice! I am super pumped to hear that this is your new favorite remix on the channel! Thank _you_ for saying so, and for taking such an interest in it! You've made my Halloween more hype, as well! 🎃
Wow, this is a very intriguing remix and is expertly produced! The subtle changes that you included throughout are wonderfully executed... such as that filtered section at 0:30, before coming back to the main beat... genius!! It really gives the impression of entering and leaving different rooms, super cool! (I might actually use that technique sometime... 🤔... 😅)
Glitchman! Thank you so much for the encouraging and thoughtful feedback! It means a tremendous amount that you always keep an ear out for even the most subtle details, and I appreciate that you always take an interest in the description, as well! 😄 That segment at 0:30 was one of the few specific ideas I had prior to starting this mix, so I'm glad to hear it was a standout feature! I felt like it would be fun to have the music transition to sound like it was being played on an old record player or phonograph, and then to have Boo come and mess with it. 👻 Thank you for mentioning it specifically! And I'm thrilled that you felt the feeling of moving through different rooms was conveyed in the music - I love when music changes dynamically in games (like in the N64 Rare games), and there's a bit of that in Luigi's Mansion, too, so I really wanted to capture it here. Again, thanks so much for the kind words, my friend. I hope you're doing well, and that you're finding opportunities to work on music videos - I'm looking forward to that project you hinted at earlier this year! :D
@@Equalyze Oh yeah! The Star Fox Assault Cinematic Trailer is actually turning out amazing... except, I may have bitten off more than my device can chew at the moment. 😅 I hate to keep delaying stuff, but I may wait until I get a PC upgrade next month before finishing the project, because I want it to look and sound as good as possible. Regardless, I already have a Star Fox remix in the works, that was originally going to be part of the Assault Cinematic, but I decided to continue working on it and make an extended version. Maybe I'll upload that one first, let's see what is finished first... Honestly, I don't have lack of ideas for making remix videos, only lack of time. 😅
@@GlitchmanVGM Ah, that's unfortunate that hardware and time constraints are the factors that are holding you back currently. On the upside, though, both of these inhibitions have straightforward solutions - way more often, creative ideas are what people struggle to come up with, but you've got those in spades! It's always a good thing when a person's passion and skill surpass their limits of their software. :D If you do decide to upload it as a separate remix prior to releasing the video, I'm all ears! But regardless, it's definitely on my radar! Thanks again, Glitchman, and I'll be seeing you! 🙂
FlameCheese, thanks so much, my friend! It's always a genuine pleasure to read your comments, and I appreciate that you always take the time to leave feedback. I'm really glad that you felt the different styles melded well together here! ^_^ Hope your projects are coming along well, too - I know you've had a big one in the works for some time now, so I'm excited for that when it's ready. 😁
Oh, I saw that! When I got the notification on Sunday, I was so hyped, and I listened to the whole remixed OST that afternoon (and a few of my favorites since then). 😁 I haven't yet had an opportunity to write a proper comment, but I hope to soon - thanks for thinking of me!
DUUUUDE This SLAPS Love the 808 hats strewn throughout, the rhythmic/harmonic variations in the main lead, your use of LPF, everything is wonderful. You also mix your bass so so so well man, I know I've said that before, but you just do haha. Will have to throw this down on the next podcast, perhaps :)
Theology, thank you so much!! This comment just has me all smiles right now. 🙂 Those stuttered hi hats were so much fun to use, and I really hope to use them in future remixes, too, given their flexibility and, well... just how much I like the sound of them. I'm really glad to hear that you liked them, as well! Ah, thanks for mentioning the melody variations! The arrangement is always an aspect I enjoy and take a lot of pride in, and it means a lot to see that pointed out specifically. And I appreciate your mention of the EQ filters, as well - it's something I'm trying to experiment more with, and feedback like yours really makes me feel like I'm on the right track! Thank you for the specific remarks on the bass mixing! For about a year now, I've been using a free plugin called "TDR Nova" which has been super useful for sidechaining lower frequencies in the bass to the kick, as well as automating volume in other instances. It's really encouraging to know that the mixing in the low-end comes across well! Oh man, I really appreciate that you're considering including this in your next podcast! Whether it gets included or not, your interest in this remix means a tremendous amount to me. 😊 Thank you again for taking the time to comment in detail. And happy Spooktober, my friend! 👻
@@Equalyze What plugin do you use for your filters? Just a stock plugin or something else? Super curious. I love learning how my friends make music... the sharing of knowledge makes us all better producers! Dude, I am downloading TDR Nova... RIGHT. NOW. I sometimes have trouble getting my bass just right, and I will often make like 30 edits of a song if I don't feel right about the bass mixing. There's one right now on my Secret of Mana album that I am currently on like version 20 of lol. Hopefully this plugin can make those 30 edits into like 10 or something LOL. SO, I spoke too soon... Fat_Rain is taking the decks this month, but I am planning on always trying to include your tunes wherever possible, so don't even sweat it hehe :) Take care and happy Spooktober to you too ;)
@@TheologyVGM Thanks for asking about that! For the filters, I use Fruity Parametric EQ 2, and Fruity Filter, which are both stock plugins (though the latter isn't used here). For the filter effects, there's a preset called "radio" which brings out primarily the mid-high frequencies, which I tweaked a bit, in the hopes of getting the music to sound like it was being placed on an old sound system. Oh, dude, I'm glad you're interested in TDR Nova! I first learned about it from UA-camr In the Mix, who you may know of. In one of his videos awhile back, he created a brief tutorial for it, with how to sidechain certain frequencies in instruments - I found it incredibly helpful, and I hope it's useful for you, too, if you're interested! And yeah, absolutely! I'm always more than willing to share specific details regarding how the remix and video were made. Honestly, it irks me a bit when people withhold information that could help someone to improve their sound and/or technique, just for the sake of keeping "industry secrets"... well, a secret. Thankfully, though, that rarely happens in the VGM community, and I love that people are often eager to share various resources and info and build up each other's skills and confidence. It's always exciting when people livestream their process, too! Thank you again for your interest in including some of the music here in your podcasts - it's very much appreciated! I'll be seeing you, my friend. :D
@@Equalyze yeah, FL's stock plugins are great, I hear. I've never used them tho becuase I've literally been using logic for 15 years. Mind blowing, right? Lol. But yeah, TDR Nova is AMAZING. I have been using it in my latest tracks and holy crap the bass is so much better sounding now haha! I can't thank you enough for that man!
I LOVE IT! What a vibe, my guy. The visuals are fun, cute, and just tie everything together really well. I haven't played any of the Luigi's Mansion games beyond LM3, but I know a handful of some of the music. Did you include rifts/melodies from other games in this remix? I can't tell if that was you adding a little ✨flare✨ to the remix, or if it was the Library theme or something... Either way, you did it very well! I did really appreciate the transition at 0:31, I will say. The vintage feel was *chef's kiss*, and it fit really well with the rest. Honestly, I don't have much to say that I haven't already. The mixing is superb, the bass and high frequencies are well balanced, and the risers you added here and there were very masterful. What an excellent contribution to spooky month! :D
Thank you very much, G-Squared! I'm touched by the thoughtful and detailed comment, and I'm delighted to hear that you really enjoyed this one! Since you had posted a Luigi's Mansion remix awhile back (which I'm a big fan of, by the way), I figured you were a fan of the franchise, so it means a lot to see it well-received. 😊 Speaking of which, the original is a little hard to come by (I think they remade it for 3DS, though) but if you have an opportunity to play it, it's _highly_ recommended. It's definitely the shortest of the series, and can likely be completed in 12 hours or less on the first playthrough - although the later titles have a lot of quality-of-life improvements, there are some aspects that make the original uniquely charming, and its music, though not super diverse is excellent! The other melody you mentioned (which I believe is the part from 1:17 - 1:48) is Talking with Ghosts/Eerie Conversations, which occurs when you, well... talk with the portrait ghosts. The original tune is very sinister-sounding, so I wanted to take that feeling and make it a bit more elegant, then transition to something kind of crazy at 1:39, like a wild ghost party! 👻 In any case, I appreciate your mentioning it (and I love the stylized writing)! Hehe, the vintage section seems to have gone over well, and I'm happy that you enjoyed it, too! I imagined that part of the song being played on an old record player or a phonograph before Boo comes and messes things up. 😁 And thank you very much for the feedback regarding the mixing here. Since your [extremely valuable] feedback on the Dragon Roost Island remix, I've really tried to be mindful of not making the remix too brittle in the high end, and it's really helped me to achieve more depth and balance in the mix. It's one thing to hear constructive feedback from a stranger, but when it comes from a friend, I really take it to heart! Thank you again for your continuous encouragement and support, and for making each remix release more of a treat! 🍬 It's always a joy to read your comments! ^_^
Hey, GR, it's really good to see you! Hope you've been well over the past year, man. I saw your Community Post that you're returning from hiatus, and it's really exciting to see! Thank you very much for taking the time to listen, and for the kind words - it really means a lot! And I'll be looking forward to your future uploads, as well! :D
Midi Music, it's great to see you, man! Thank you very much for the positive feedback, and I'm glad you enjoyed this one. :D Also, congratulations on the Roland Fantom 06 that you recently acquired - I'm excited to hear what you'll make with it!
@@MidiMusic I'd say you made something fantastic out of it! That Black Belt remix came out amazingly well.😁 And I'm looking forward to sharing more music, my friend. Take care!
N.J.H. Productions, thanks so much for taking the time to listen, and for the positive feedback! I'm glad the remix came across that way (even when the candles were extinguished)! 👻🔥
I feel like I would hear this song at the beginning of somebody’s twitch stream while they’re getting everything set up. and I mean that in the nicest way possible because this is an absolute banger!
Thanks so much for the thoughtful comment, TJackKnife! 🙂 Many Twitch streamers that I've watched have been quite selective with their setup music, so I consider this very high praise! I'm delighted to hear that you felt the remix had that specific (and coveted) quality to it! Again, thank you for taking the time to listen and comment! 🎃
Wow, that is really high praise - thank you so much! To be fair, I can't take credit for sound design here - at this stage, I'm still a preset tweaker, and I've yet to design any sounds from scratch. But I do try to put a lot of thought into sound selection, and your kind words mean a lot in that regard. I've given thought to writing original music, but I don't think I'm at that stage yet. I really enjoy arranging VGM tracks, and I definitely need a solid song structure to work with, so like with sound design, I'd consider myself someone who primarily modifies existing material. Writing lyrics is something I'd feel more confident with, though! Again, I really appreciate the encouraging feedback - it's really heartwarming to read, and makes me feel like I'm making definite progress. I hope all's been well with you, TryingNewThings. And I'm excited to hear about any projects you may have in the works! :D
I haven't listened to very much of PvZ's soundtrack (just Loonboon and a few others), but I can see what you mean, regarding the instrumentation. I hope that's a good thing! 😅 Thanks for watching, LK-1D3, and for taking the time to comment! :)
When it ended on my first listen-through, I was conviced it was longer, which is a good thing imo. lol
The piano and does a really good job helping everything feel tight and round out the sound.
I hope you had an enjoyable vacation (it's a great time of year to travel, honestly), and I really appreciate that you're always keeping an eye out for new remixes on this channel!
Ah, I'm so stoked that you liked the instrumentation in the intro segment! ^_^
I'm really glad that you enjoyed the more subtle approach to the melody in the first half, too.
So glad to hear that you enjoyed both the instrumentation and use of SFX here!
Again, thank you so much for the detailed, thoughtful, and enthusiastic response.
XD I'm gonna go check out SampleFocus when I'm done writing lol
I haven't heard of Melanie Martinez, but I'll check her out!
XD
I feel the same! I love it when songs don't repeat things exactly the same way, even if they're just little changes. And your songs always have so many details that it makes me wanna listen over and over again. lol
Lol I used to say I would attempt to beat Luigi's Mansion on Halloween in one sitting, but I've never actually tried.
Anytime! I've had some big projects I've been working for a while! I should have like four or five things coming out pretty soon. One might even be out today! Thanks for your constant support! Can't wait to hear your next track!
That was absolutely incredible! Wonderful Stuff! :D

Well done!! 👏
Bringing back the lo-fi section around 1:18...GAH that gets me everytime!
I'm glad you enjoyed that transition at around 0:30! 😁
And thank you for mentioning the finger snap, as well!
I'm really happy that you liked the ending, as well, with that added triplet in the rhythm! ^_^
Again, thank you very much for the encouraging and enthusiastic comment. Feedback like yours really makes me feel like I'm on the right track, and it's incredibly motivating. I'll see you soon, my friend! 🎃
"Now, JOIN YOUR BROTHER IN THE PAINTING!"
Another epic mix that captures my childhood with this game long ago. Well done, good sir!!
"GAHAHAHA!! My art collection is looking better all the time!" 👻
Andross, thanks so much for watching, and for the fun and encouraging feedback! I always love how enthusiastic and full of character your comments are, and they're always a joy to read. :D
I can totally relate to the nostalgia factor here - I remember playing this game the day that GameCube released (wish it had released the month prior, but oh well) with my older brother and being so amazed by the graphics, music, and overall atmosphere. Even now, I have a tradition of playing it around Halloween - the game has aged extremely well!
Thank you for the kind words, my friend, and I'm really happy to know that you enjoyed this remix video! ^_^
Oh man, I loved this! Probably my favorite mix by you!
That happens a lot for me! I'm glad that the remix made it immediately recognizable, though. Thanks again for the kind words! 🙂
You're welcome! :)
Amazing remix! Loved all the fun effects you included in both the music and video!
Again, thanks so much for your recent comments - they're a joy to read! :D
PVZ type beat
Heh, another person mentioned that, as well! I haven't played any of the Plants Vs. Zombies games, but from the few PVZ songs I've heard, there are some really stellar tracks - I take this as a compliment! ^_^ Thanks very much for listening, Phansite, and for the comment!
@@Equalyze whole heartedly a compliment, great stuff sir
Thank you very much - that makes me really happy to hear! 🙂
this is amazing equalyze! love the spooky while playful vibes
as usually i love all the details and supporting elements you add in, im just impressed by how much you manage to add in while it all sounding cohesive and with all the elements supporting each other seamlessly. in your case the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts. and then there are also some simple things which to me are so enjoyable to hear, like for instance i really like when that snap at the 16th second comes, or the swipe leading to the snare (is it the snare reversed?) from time to time, or the different textures in which you express the main melody. fantastic work, always a pleasure to listen to your stuff
I'm really glad you enjoyed the percussion and added percussive effects!
I'm glad that you liked the instrumentation here!
Thanks for your specific mention of the transitions, as well!
@@moxxiefan2.055 Thank _you_ for the detailed comment, and again, for the recommendations! You have a great night, as well! 🌙
@@Equalyze You too and be sure send me a link when the Dracula's Theme track is done.
Wow, to hear that the music sounded surreal is very high praise - thank you!
Wow, honestly, I don't know what to say other than...
Spooky month material 🎃
Thanks so much for the kind feedback regarding the mixing specifically!
Hearing you say that you feel like there's always something interesting going on means a tremendous amount to me.
Thank you again for the kind words. Since having made my way out of the Mansion, I've found myself wandering around a Deep Castle.... I'll let you know my thoughts on that soon! 🏰
Love thisss, the percussion, bass, and piano give it such a nice groove! And love the little Mario noise at 1:07
Thanks so much, TeruTeruSky! This is high praise, coming from you, and I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed it! 🙂
The bass and percussive elements were a big focus for me here, and your specific feedback on them means a lot - thank you! I'm also thrilled that you liked the pianos here, as they're a staple in just about every remix, in some form or another. I love using piano in a spooky context especially! 👻
Hehe, I couldn't resist putting that sound effect at 1:07... Luigi has some iconic lines in this game, and I felt like it just fit too well there. 😋
Again, I really appreciate your kind words here, and during the Megamix, as well!
@@Equalyze please tell me this will be gracing listeners ears on the Nintendo Halloween Megamix 😶🌫
@@AlmightyArceus Oh, definitely - I had been meaning to submit this! 😅 Thanks very much for asking, Arceus, and for the opportunity to be included in the Megamix! I'll get right on that! :)
Hell yeah!! I love this spooky little tune! 🎃
This theme is iconic!
*Hey Luigi check out this sick Mario painting I got from that mansion!
I love the colorful adjectives you used to describe the style and atmosphere here - whimsical and light-hearted - as that was _exactly_ my intent here!
I'm absolutely stoked that you enjoyed the percussive elements here, and those stuttered hi hats are one of my favorite pieces in the drums.
Hehe, the vintage-sounding section seems to have gone over well, and I'm thrilled that it has!
And thank you so much for always supporting and encouraging not just me, but the people I'm privileged to work with.
RE-MIXERS!!!🎵
I ain't afraid of no OST's!
This is really good! the percussion throughout is really catchy, and the swing tempo melody in the second half is very groovy!
I'm looking forward to hearing and commenting on your and Caleb's collaborative remix, as well - see you soon, friend! :)
Yesss, perfect choice for October! The piano sounds fantastic, and I'm loving the animations of the ghosts shaking the frame! 🎃👻🍂
Thank you again for the continuous support and encouragement - of course, I'll be keeping an eye out for your fall and Halloween creations, as well!
You keep improving so much with every piece you make, this was truly a blast to listen to!
Levixu, thank you so much for the incredibly kind and detailed comment - this really makes me happy to read! 😊
Heh, jokes like the one you mentioned are right up my alley - I'm always down for stuff like that!
EQ Opening Halloween MM? 👀👀👀👻 That piano is
Hanabi, thank you so much for the heartwarming comment! Honestly, I'm thrilled to have another opportunity to participate in a megamix, and I'm excited to see which Nintendo franchises people will create spooky remixes out of! (also, your comment on the announcement video was great XD)
Thank you for the specific remarks regarding the mixing and sound balancing!
I love this one! Nice spooky vibe throughout and finish to it 💜🎃👻
Hey, J Zombie, thanks so much for listening, and for the kind and enthusiastic comment! ^_^ It really makes me happy to hear that you enjoyed the remix! 👻
You deserve more views. So sad effortful artists are always underrated.
Amazing remix! Luigi's Mansion is my favorite game ever! Keep it up Equalyze!
@@Equalyze Have you been able to check out my new playlist? It's completely in order as of right now.

Very cool remix, love the instruments here !
Also 1:07 ("ough!")
Thank you for the specific remarks regarding the drums - one of my main goals here was to really integrate some more pronounced and unique percussive sounds, and it was a great opportunity to try some of the more unwieldy drum samples I had recently acquired.
Wow I really love the structure of this remix, with the fade outs to beat drops and the variety of layering done, amazing!!
Hey, Ted, thank you very much for listening, and for the thoughtful comment! It means a lot to hear that you enjoyed the flow of this remix, as well as the layering of different instruments and elements. This was definitely the most fun I've had working on a remix in quite some time! :D
This is really good. One of my favorite Luigi’s mansion remixes. And I have a lot saved

Yoshi island Athletic theme remix plisss
Thank you very much for listening and commenting! There actually is a Yoshi's Island Athletic Theme remix on the channel from last year - it's one of my favorites, and I hope you'll enjoy it, too! :D
@@Equalyze but do more remixes of yoshi island Athletic theme remix please :'(
Equalyze, this is absolutely phenomenal!
That outro is insane as well!
Thank you for the kind remarks regarding the instrumentation!
I'm psyched that you enjoyed that glitch-hop styled drum groove, with the different mix-ups and fills - thanks for saying so!
Again, it feels like a mere thank-you isn't enough to properly convey my thanks, but I am perpetually grateful for your enthusiastic encouragement and support.

Really digging the instruments in this one! I also love how the track progresses and changes, it brings so much life into it. Great release for spooky month!

This is definitely a popular choice for remixers, and I had wanted to remix this song for quite some time now. The original Luigi's Mansion is a game I can always go back to, and I've made a perennial tradition of playing it most years around Halloween, especially since it can be completed in one or two extended sittings. I'm glad that you felt this version stood out among the assortment of remixes out there. ^_^
Thank you for mentioning the rhythms specifically!
Ah man, I am really psyched to hear that your upcoming project is your most involved work yet.
Coming from you, positive feedback on the overall production is very high praise - thank you!
And wow, to hear that you feel this is my best work yet is really meaningful - thank you!

Hey Equalyze,
The mood of your music is absolutely perfect I confirm that you managed to do what you wanted as you said in your description. In addition, the visual of your videos are more and more beautiful and successful: this allows you to watch a video in addition to listening to a remix as beautiful as yours.
And oh my god those transitions :0

I feel like October is a critical opportunity to go for something spooky and have a bit of extra creative freedom to try out a particular category of instruments and effects that might not fit in many other situations.
That segment at 0:30 was one of the few specific ideas I had prior to starting this mix, so I'm glad to hear it was a standout feature!
If you do decide to upload it as a separate remix prior to releasing the video, I'm all ears! But regardless, it's definitely on my radar! Thanks again, Glitchman, and I'll be seeing you! 🙂
THIS IS ONE OF YOUR BEST!
Landon & Emma, thank you very much! It means a lot to hear that. 😊 Also, I'm really liking the new PFP - it looks great!
@@Equalyze THX
Truly amazing as always, the use of different styles was great, it all fit together ^^
@@Equalyze My big project is finally done and published 😌
Those stuttered hi hats were so much fun to use, and I really hope to use them in future remixes, too, given their flexibility and, well... just how much I like the sound of them.
Thank you again for taking the time to comment in detail.
Fat_Rain is taking the decks this month, but I am planning on always trying to include your tunes wherever possible, so don't even sweat it hehe :)
Take care and happy Spooktober to you too ;)
@@TheologyVGM Thanks for asking about that!
Speaking of which, the original is a little hard to come by (I think they remade it for 3DS, though) but if you have an opportunity to play it, it's _highly_ recommended.
@@Equalyze I see!
Thanks for the response. I love hearing about the creative process, because that's-- in my mind-- as valuable as the product. :D
@@GSStudios It's truly my pleasure. ^_^ And I couldn't agree more with this!
Great Remix as always
Hey, GR, it's really good to see you! Hope you've been well over the past year, man. I saw your Community Post that you're returning from hiatus, and it's really exciting to see!
Thank you very much for taking the time to listen, and for the kind words - it really means a lot! And I'll be looking forward to your future uploads, as well! :D

@@Equalyze Oh, you see my only news for almost one year ! I'm happy with this new machine, I'm currently trying to make something out of it :-)
@@MidiMusic I'd say you made something fantastic out of it! That Black Belt remix came out amazingly well.😁 And I'm looking forward to sharing more music, my friend. Take care!
this is fire!
You've become a pro a sound design it seems. Have you considered writing your own music and adding lyrics?
@Equalyze It's clear from this remix that you can do whatever you set yourself to. So don't limit yourself man.
@@Landad_ I really appreciate the encouragement and vote of confidence - I'll definitely work on avoiding self-imposed limits! Thanks so much, man! :D
It kinda sounds like something from Plants vs Zombies
I haven't listened to very much of PvZ's soundtrack (just Loonboon and a few others), but I can see what you mean, regarding the instrumentation. I hope that's a good thing! 😅
Thanks for watching, LK-1D3, and for taking the time to comment! :)
