Firstly, I just need to mention the thumbnail! "Together We Remix" is just so pure, yet really funny in my opinion, and I love it! Man, working on this really has been a dream come true. I remember you viewing my channel about two years ago, so naturally I would come back to your content! Your music was so damn awesome, and you became a huge inspiration to me. Time passed, and I hadn't really noticed how close we had gotten, especially after I added you on Discord! I've never heard something negative from you, because you only spread positive energy, and that's what I love so much about you!
Gotta say, the response and feedback on the drums in the comment section was a lot bigger than I had expected, and it's only been a few hours, ahah! Really makes me feel like I nailed this one! However the percussion you added yourself is the layer of icing and the cherry on top of the cake, well done!
I also really liked your instrumental choices here! I feel like that lead starting at 0:15 has really began to act as your own signature lead! I can easily say that I don't hear it many other places, than here on your channel, so even if I just heard two split seconds of it, I would easily piece together that you have somewhat to do with it!
Also, I ADORE what you did with the visuals! I myself have never played as much as one FE game, but I feel like I somewhat understand the lore of it, just by watching this video! And I absolutely find the (really amazing) models of Roy and Marth fighting really hilarious! Of course, it looks sick as hell, but come on you know what I mean XD
This collab has been a journey, it has been struggles, laughter, compliments and of course.. *rivers* XD. This collab marks the third (musical) collab for the both of us, and as they say: "Third time's the charm", so I think this one will leave with a huge impact! Thanks so much for this great opportunity, Equalyze! I really hope we can get together like this in the future!

Man, AvoCado, reading this incredible comment you wrote legitimately got me teared up. Thank you so much for taking the time to write all that!
I'm glad you liked the text in the thumbnail! I'll be honest, that idea didn't even occur to me until the night before this was posted, and I wasn't sure if it'd go over well, but I'm thrilled to see that you and a few others have noticed. The intent behind that is really to capture the feeling of mutual support and encouragement that you and I shared while making this remix, and it was such a great experience! I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with you, and seeing you say that it felt like a dream come true really hits home for me - likewise, the sentiment is shared! ^_^
It makes me really happy to know that you feel I have a positive presence in the community - thank you!! Honestly, in the VGM remix community, everyone is doing what they love, and they have the opportunity to share their music with hundreds of millions of people - so anyone who puts their music out there and takes pride in it really deserves to be encouraged. When there's so much negativity in certain parts of the internet, I feel like this is a place where people can leave it all behind and engage in positive and supportive interactions. I mean, yeah, there's always room for improvement, but constructive criticism can always be worded kindly and gently! And wow, has it already been two years? It's certainly been awesome, getting to know you better over the past couple of years, and this project was really the perfect opportunity to connect on a more personal level. :D
I'm really psyched at the response to your parts, as well! Nearly everyone so far has specifically mentioned aspects you worked on, most notably the drums. I hope people don't get the wrong idea that it's the _only_ thing you worked on - far from it! - but then again, the drums and percussion are just so. dang. good! that it's hard not to get caught up in mentioning them. Honestly, your supporting parts really liven up the mix tremendously, and i love the layering you did in both the melody and rhythmic supporting instruments, as well as the flourishes you added (especially in that middle section - that upward trickle at 1:15 is beautiful!). Also, your -rivers- risers are just so dang good, and I love that technique you used, breaking it up into sort of a gated sound near the peak of the riser, like at the aforementioned 1:15 part. Honestly, there are so many things I could mention individually, but in short: your instrumentals are absolutely fantastic! Not gonna lie, at times while working on my end, I would stop and listen to the parts you sent and just revel in how good they sounded. 😅
Thanks for your feedback on my parts, as well! It made me feel really happy that you responded so positively to them throughout the process. Honestly, you the way you seamlessly adapted your parts to shifts in the arrangement (like that key change in the melody variations) was super impressive. Also, it means a lot to hear that you feel that first lead that I used is becoming a signature sound! It definitely is one that I keep coming back to ("Titania" in FLEX, to be precise, with a bit of the reverb and delay taken off, Transient Processor to make the attack less harsh, and some manually added vibrato and Slide Notes), and it plays nicely with other instruments in general. I've been using that one for a year and a half now, and it quickly became a favorite of mine! Aside from that, I'm glad you liked the other instruments, as well - I tried to go with some more vibrant and bright synths, to match the energy that's characteristic of your style!
Dude, I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the video, as well! I'm glad that a bit of the Fire Emblem lore came across through the dialogue, and I tried to adapt actual quotes from the games to have them make sense here. As a person who appreciates when fan content stays true to the original, I wanted to make sure not to stray too far from the words Marth and Roy actually have said in games. Thanks for mentioning Marth and Roy's designs, as well! I'm of course biased, but I feel like this is some of Kali's best work here, which is saying a lot! As for the animations, well... they're a bit spastic, to be honest. But I feel like the ZGEV wasn't made with animating objects in mind, though I do have fun trying to make things move in (slightly) convincing ways! One of these days, I might have to upgrade to a more powerful program, like After Effects, but I still hope to use (and hopefully improve with) the ZGameEditor Visualizer for quite some time!
Third time is indeed the charm, and having worked with Caleb P. and NostalJack, I feel like I was able to approach this collaboration with more confidence and experience! Thankfully, those guys are no strangers to collabs, so they were able to guide me through much of the process. And man, thank _you_ for the opportunity to work on this piece together. I'm psyched to hear that you're on board with future collaborations, because I am SO down for that! Until next time, my friend! 💛

HOLY MOLY. What an intro! As a Smash fan, this song was played very often, unfortunately making this song a bit _too_ familiar! I'm bummed I couldn't catch the premier; hopefully next time!!
I absolutely love the selection of remixing the Melee arrangement of this track rather than the original with the added strings, brass, and overall feel to the track. You mention a lot in my music how my style is clearly defined; well dare I say you are throughly starting to showcase yourself with your own style, since right off the bat, even without visual representation, I could instantly decipher this as an Equalyze remix! 😉
The transition at 0:13 is bone-chilling, with that iconic synth pattern quickly following. I have yet to discover AvoCado Tunes' music, so I'm heavily interested into learning more from what you mention in your description - his incredible percussion! It's _extremely_ impressive, and fits this style of this remix SUPER well. Especially the drum fill at 0:56...talk about POWER!
Speaking of 0:56, the visuals of the video once again giving the viewer a sense of enlightenment, from the way Marth & Roy are battling each other to then teaming up; a truly heartwarming part featuring wide strings, plucks/bells, and the _beautiful_ violin lead...it's mixed extremely well & feels so natural! Almost as if this should have been the original 👀
I say this every time but I can't help it - your musical ability continues to surprise me in ways I never imagined! I'm really glad you've been dedicated to releasing a song per month; the consistency of your quality is inspiring & _will_ pay off, I just know it! Congrats on another outstanding remix; as usual, I'm looking forward to your next music creation!! 🙌

Man, thank you so much for the incredibly detailed and uplifting comment, Player2! I'm just overjoyed reading this, and I immensely appreciate your taking the time and care to write all that. 😊
I'm super glad to hear that the intro made a big impact, and thanks for saying so! My intro game has never been a strong suit, admittedly, but with AvoCado's drums kicking things right into gear with that 4-beat countoff, there was no other option but to try and match his energy with the saw stabs and trance plucks at the start. I totally know what you mean, in regards to this song having that instant recognizability. When I used to play Melee (badly, I might add), we always used to hold the Shield button to have this track play, once we learned that trick. Of course, I loved going to the Sound Test mode, too, and just jamming out to the different tracks. Honestly, Sound Test is a feature that every game ever should have!
Ah, we would have been honored to have you at the premiere, but I really appreciate your interest in being a part of the next one! AvoCado suggested that we premiere this remix, and despite the short song length, I'm beyond grateful that people came on such short notice to support AvoCado and I and jam out. At least the song itself was longer than the countdown, if only by a few seconds! 😅 I'm not sure when I'll use the premiere feature next, but it was truly a memorable and exciting experience, and I would definitely like to have another premiere somewhere down the road.
Thanks for the kind words regarding the song selection, though all credit goes to AvoCado for the pick. Honestly, I likely wouldn't have thought to remix this arrangement otherwise, but I'm really glad that we did! The fact that it incorporates the main Fire Emblem theme, along with that more atmospheric middle section (which I'm not sure whether it derives from an existing track or was an original addition to this arrangement) made it feel like there was a lot of room for creative input. In fact, this is the one of very few tracks I've worked on that didn't include a loop point within the 2:00 - 2:15 range that I aim for. In a way, that made things easier, as it's often a challenge to come up with variations, reharmonization, instrument changes, etc. to make repeated sections sound distinct, as you well know! 😉 (yet you do an incredible job with that in every one of your remixes)
It's heartening to hear that you feel there are aspects in the music that are characteristic of a style I'm continually working on developing - thanks so much for mentioning that! I'll keep working at refining my approach and adapting techniques, instruments, and an overall sound style that can be perceived as a sort of "signature sound" - that's definitely one of my long-term goals!
So glad you liked those transitions at 0:13 and 0:56 - AvoCado's drum fills are what really bring the transitions to life! I generally think of transitions in terms of melody flow, and how leads and supporting parts should be exchanged, and AvoCado's percussive work really brought forth that critical aspect of the transitions quite well! It's very high praise, coming from you, who creates truly masterful transition segments.
I really appreciate that you always take the time to comment on the visual elements, as well. I'm delighted that the intent of the video came across, in regards to the rivalry-turned-teamwork of Marth and Roy. I was saying to AvoCado, that it felt like a parallel to our process, though there was never an ounce of animosity between us. But the theme of people supporting one another, like I see in our very own remix community, just really gets me going, and I had hoped that this part in particular would be meaningful for people to watch and listen to.
And thank you for the kind remarks regarding the instrumentation and mixing! I think there were close to 20 tracks playing simultaneously at that part, so hearing you say that they were well-balanced and came through clearly is really encouraging! I'm so glad you like the violin synth also, as it's become an absolute staple instrument for me. I don't want to overuse it, but it's good to know that it hasn't worn out its welcome! And woah, hearing that this remix is on-par with the original is huge - thank you!!
I can't even express fully how much it means that you feel the remixes each month have been indicative of time and effort spent on both the music and visuals. I've been fortunate to have received so much support from the community already, and that has really been a huge motivating force for me to keep aiming for improvement (that, and I love doing this so dang much). I will keep at it, for sure, and thank you again for the wonderful comment! :D

Ah man, I'm glad you enjoyed that aspect, and thanks so much for mentioning it specifically! Since this is partly based on the recruitment theme, I wanted the idea of opponents-turned-comrades to be a major theme of the video. I'm happy to hear that it came across as I had hoped! 😄

    Oooo what a awesome theme.
Tbh I didn't know about this one haha I've hardly touch the fire emblem series. But this remix is super nice. The intro part of this track is super bouncy and has a nice groove. Love the percussions too haha that ride cymbal and the snare are perfect. Especially is the second part. 0:58 those pianos, that switch up is amazing but those pianos are too beautiful. The last part of this track reminds of some mario 3d world music haha. But seriously the ending has such awesome vibe and is a great way to wrap this track up!!
    Thank You!

Hey, 7revor! Thank _you_ for listening, and for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and detailed comment - reading it brought a big smile to my face! :D
I feel like Fire Emblem is definitely one of the lesser-played series, and I myself probably wouldn't have gotten into the games if it weren't for Awakening (3DS) making the gameplay so accessible to newcomers. The newer games are definitely a lot easier to get into, but I also like that Nintendo has encouraged people to become familiar with some of the characters through their appearances in the Smash Bros. games alone! This particular arrangement is the alternate theme on the Temple stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee, which is where most people tend to recognize it from. In any case, I appreciate your taking an interest in the remix, in spite of that!
I'm really glad that you liked the intro especially! Normally, intros are not my strong point, but AvoCado really set the tone with that 4-beat countoff at the start, leading into his high-energy drumming, so I knew I had to match that energy with some rhythmic synths at the start. It's exciting to hear that it had a nice groove, as well - that was definitely the goal there! And yeah, I'm especially fond of Avo's snare drumming and ride cymbal usage here, and I love that it's more of a march-style drum. It feels appropriate for the style of Fire Emblem battles!
Ah man, I'm so glad you liked the middle segment in particular! I had a lot of freedom to create a countermelody in the piano, thanks to AvoCado's flexibility, and I felt like there really needed to be something extra to enhance that otherwise repetitious part in the lower piano. Piano is a staple instrument for me, and I just relish any opportunity to use it as a supporting part especially. Thank you very much for the feedback on that section!
It's interesting that you hear similarities to SM3DW in this piece near the end. Maybe it's the majestic and bright arrangement and tone? Granted, the ending here is different from the original arrangement, so maybe I subconsciously was influenced by all my years of playing Mario games! I'm glad to hear that you liked it, though! Thanks again for the kind words, man - it means a great deal!

how did i miss this upload! fantastic remix as usual. it stays very true to the original but the added twists and the sound selection gives it a very unique sonority which i really like. in particular i'm a big sucker for the drumkit and the bassline, and the synths at the 0:30th mark sound sick too

      @Equalyze  2 роки тому +1

Alter Loy, thank you very much for the thoughtful and supportive words, as always. I'm very grateful that you always take the time to listen and comment in detail! 😊
The original arrangement is so good, and AvoCado and I really wanted to keep as much of it intact as possible, while putting our own spin on it. I'm thrilled to hear that you liked the added details, though! It's the extra stuff, like descending glissandos, countermelodies, and the key change, that I hoped would set it apart, and I appreciate your keeping an ear out for them! Also, I love that word you used - _sonority_ - and I hadn't heard of it until now, but it's definitely one that I'll have to keep in mind from now on! I'm glad that our selection of sounds gave the remix that kind of quality! ^_^
Ah, I'm psyched that you enjoyed the drums and bassline, as well! AvoCado and I worked on the percussive and bass elements, respectively. Honestly, the guy is so dang good at drums, and it was a genuine treat to have his drum and percussion work in this remix, among the other elements he created - like the synths that emerge at around 0:30. He did a lot of layering with the leads and supporting parts, and it added a completely new and exciting dynamic to the piece!
Thanks again for the kind comment, my friend. I'm looking forward to what you've got on the horizon, as well - see you soon, man! :D

I'm really glad that you liked the intro especially, and thanks for mentioning it! I wanted to take it just a bit forward this time, instead of having the text fade in like usual. That really motivates me to try other ways of presenting the title and credits!
This was a genuine pleasure to work on with AvoCado, and his parts really helped to bring the energy to the next level - and his version really doubles down on the Melee essence! I totally feel you there, though - although I enjoyed the game growing up, I was always (and still am) atrocious at Melee, due to its breakneck pace and array of advanced techniques. I'm much more of a Brawl and Sm4sh guy, in truth! 😅
Thanks again for taking the time to listen and comment, my friend. Hope your year has been going well, and as always, I'm very much looking forward to your next upload! :D

Thanks so much, Bardometer! I'm really glad that you enjoy the Fire Emblem remixes in particular! It's one of those franchises where I know I'll inevitably end up doing more remixes from its soundtracks than I anticipate, and I'm okay with that! My hope is to cover a song from that one 3DS game for my next FE remix, but we'll see what Fates has in store! 😁
Bad wordplay aside, I really appreciate the kind words! AvoCado gets 100% of the credit for the song selection - granted, he made sure that I was very much on board with it, but I honestly wouldn't have thought to pick this song, since the arrangement isn't actually from a Fire Emblem game. And thank you for the positive feedback! :D Honestly, it always gets me going, when the main motif comes in right after that middle section. I really wanted that to be a climactic moment in both the music and visuals, and I'm thrilled to hear that it got you hyped, as well!

The energy is high with this one! 😎 Glad I was able to catch the premiere, and with only one minute left before premiering! The drums and the bass are _super_ tight!! I love it when the drums and percussion are well mixed, and if paired with a full-bodied bassline, even better! I like the use of the on-screen text, that was a very nice touch, it really adds to the emotion behind the song. My favorite part is that final slow section with the key change, masterfully done! Love that string lead!
I remember I always used to hold L in Super Smash Bros Melee before the Link stage so that this song would play, because it was one of my favorite themes in the whole game. I used to listen to it regularly in Sound Test! Great job with this collab! 👍😃

Glitchman, thanks so much for the heartfelt and thoughtful comment! I really appreciate your taking time to be a part of the premiere, as well (great timing, by the way) - and seeing you and everyone else there really warmed my heart and had me smiling from ear to ear!😄
I'm glad that you felt this remix had a lot of energy, just as we had hoped. And thank you for the specific feedback regarding the bass and percussive elements! AvoCado truly knocked it out of the park with his drums, and when he sent over his drums and percussion tracks, I was genuinely wowed. AvoCado will be sharing his own mixed version in the near-future, but I will say that all the fine-tuning he did with the drums and percussion made the process of mixing them quite streamlined for me! As for the bass, I'm really glad to hear that it came across as robust and full - and thank you for saying so! I honestly worried about the balance of the bass, or if it would come through enough on less bass-y speakers, but your feedback as an experienced producer and attentive listener makes me feel like that aspect came across well!
Thanks for always taking the time to remark on the visual aspects specifically! The text has been a fun feature to use, and I feel like it can really help to tell more of a story than static and lightly animated visuals alone. This piece is so powerful and touching, and although it never actually happens in the main series (at least, that I know of), having Marth and Roy overcome their differences and team up in the end felt like a way to convey those feeling of support and camaraderie at the end - just like I see in our own remix community! 💛
Dude, I can totally relate to that! I love that so many of Sakurai's games have a Sound Test option (the man really knows how to design games!) and being able to listen to the soundtracks of the Smash games at will is such a treat, especially considering the OST is a giant remix-fest!
Again, thank you for your constant support and encouragement! I know you've got a planetary-scale project in the works, and I'm always keeping an eye and ear out for that, as well as any other videos on your channel. 😁 Take care, my friend!

I love how, while you went less for that usual orchestral route and went synth, it still has the same exact feel as before!

When you mention needing to complete the game, are you referring to Melee, or FE Shadow Dragon (& the Blade of Light)? Just curious to know! In any case, I really appreciate your keeping an ear out for details in the arrangement based on your experience with the song.
And I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed this synthetic-orchestral hybrid! Honestly, that's the sweet spot for me, and I always try to integrate elements of both types of instrumentation. Normally, I primarily use electronic drums, but the acoustic, rock-styled drums that AvoCado used here just sound incredible, and being able to work with them was a genuine privilege. Of course, Avo worked on much more than just the drums (such as rhythmic supporting parts, melody layers, and arpeggio runs between segments), and I don't want to detract from that, but it's hard not to be completely wowed by them. 😅
Thanks again for the kind words, my friend, and it makes me happy to hear that you're looking forward to the next remix! 😊

A hybrid style to me is always a pleasure to hear! I myself try to do the same pretty often, incorporating many elements from different styles. Really adds that extra flare! Very happy to hear the collaboration went well though! In my experience they're pretty difficult to pull off, so it's always nice to see!

Man this brings me back to the old days with nothing but a Gamecube and a late night on the weekend!
Love how you made the lead synth sound near like a violin (at least that's what I imagine haha) and keeps true to the medieval-esque, orchestral nature of Fire Emblem's OST and the percussion is super clean!
And the visual presentation is just as great as ever. I really dig the approach you take with the narrative you weave into the music with the art and text! Always a treat!

I'm delighted to know that you enjoy that violin synth. I honestly have trouble resisting the urge to put it in dang-near every remix, but it's great to hear that it fit the sound style that the Fire Emblem games are often known for!
Thanks for the kind remarks regarding the percussion and drums, as well! Among other aspects that he created, AvoCado did an outstanding job with the drums, and I was fortunate to have this opportunity to work with him on such a high energy song that demands strong percussive work!
And thank you for the kind remarks regarding the visuals! It means a lot that you always make note of the video aspects, and it means a lot to hear that you enjoyed the bit of storytelling in this visualizer. Even if this particular scenario never happened in any of the games, I felt it might make for a fun crossover concept, using the framework of Smash Bros.!

Hmm, honestly I have no idea why this stuff happens on UA-cam. I mean, I pretty much check my Subscription feed daily, but sometimes I'll get notifications for remixes days later, where it's like "huh, that would have been nice to know about..."
In any case, thank you so much for the kind and enthusiastic feedback, man! Reading your comments always brings such a big smile to my face, and your genuine passion for VGM always comes through your words, loud and clear! 💛
Thanks for the specific mention of the bass, and I'm really glad to hear that you felt it was well-mixed! For nearly 2 years now, I've been using a layered bass (usually 2 or 3 layers - one for sub, and 1 or 2 for the low and mid-low range). I'm really trying to integrate various things I've learned throughout the years from people in the community, and of course TDR Nova has been putting in a lot of work. It means a lot to hear that it's well-mixed, especially coming from you! :D
And thank you for the kind remarks regarding the video, as well! This one was fun to make, and I tried to go for something a bit more active and dynamic, even if the animations are a tad... spastic. 😅 It was fun to make it all come together, though. And I'm thrilled to hear that it made you feel immersed in the iconic world of Melee for a brief moment!

Yoooooo this is so good! What a great take on an iconic track!
It starts off with great energy that Avo's fantastic drum work really helps emphasize! I love the super brief cut at 0:14; it makes the drop afterwards his so hard! Oh and the drum fill at 0:56 was so satisfying.
The ensuing more ethereal feel is my favourite part of the whole song. It has such a pretty vibe to it, very wistful, but the song still retains its sense of energy, though it's subdued. The piano arpeggios help keep that sense of music really well!
I may have said this before, but the way you arrange your songs, and especially in the second half of this song, I think that would translate really well to an orchestra! I'd LOVE to see what you could do with that.
Overall, you and Avo make a great team! The drums were absolutely fantastic and the arrangement was simply beautiful! Great work as always my friend!

    • @Equalyze
      @Equalyze  2 роки тому

Vividity, thank you so, so much! I'm really glad that you enjoyed our take on this track. :D
You said it perfectly regarding AvoCado's percussive work. The drumming in his remixes has always been incredibly tight, and it was a true pleasure to be able to work with him in all regards. In addition to the drumming, his transitional work, melody layers, and supporting rhythmic synths really livened up the instrumentation tremendously! As I've mentioned to Avo and others, I don't want to be remiss in mentioning his non-percussive parts, but the drums are just so dang good that it's hard not to get wrapped up in raving about them! 😅
Ah man, I'm thrilled that you liked that middle section especially - and thanks for saying so! The melody part there is a bit repetitive, in truth, so AvoCado and I wanted to make sure that there was enough going on in the supporting parts to make it interesting and detailed. I'm really happy that it sounded pretty and ethereal while still maintaining the drive of the song - honestly, I couldn't ask for higher praise regarding that segment and our intent with it!
It's really heartening to hear that you feel my arrangements would be well-suited for orchestral settings - thanks so much! For real, I will keep that in mind, and I have been wanting to make a more orchestral-styled remix, so I'm optimistic that there will be one in the coming year!
Again, thanks so much for the enthusiastic and encouraging words, and for your continued support.💛This past week has been quite busy for me, but I'm looking forward to sharing my thoughts on your latest videos, as well! I'll see you soon, man!

Once i saw this i had to stop everything I was doing and listen, this is a phenomenal remix equal mix of nostalgia and epicness I love the little switchups that weren't in the original. the drum fills strike like crazy and the slidy bass is superb. the calm bit reminds me a bit of the pokemon center remix. Fire Emblem is one of the more underrated Nintendo Franchises and I love your serving it justice. The editing is just majestic I love the little neon portraits in the calm bit. GGs man.

    • @Equalyze
      @Equalyze  2 роки тому +1

Hey, Fabian! Thanks so much for listening, and I am really flattered to hear that you wanted to listen to the remix right away - seriously! I'm psyched to hear that it delivered a nice blend of majestic grandeur and warm nostalgia - that was definitely one of the main goals here!
Ah, dude, thanks so much for mentioning the differences in the arrangement! I can tell you're very familiar with the original to have noticed those. And yeah, AvoCado did an absolutely insane job with the drums. I don't know how he integrates so many different lead-ins, fills, and rhythmic mix-ups, but it's so exciting to listen to. Very glad you liked the bass, as well - I was proud of how it came out, and honestly, FL's Slide Notes are so much fun to use! 😁
It's interesting that you mention similarities between the calm part of this arrangement and the Pokemon Center remix from way back (also, it warms my heart to hear that you still think of that one, as it's one of my favorites - thank you!), as I hadn't thought of that initially, but now that you mention it, I think I know exactly what you're referring to. There's a piano countermelody that I wrote in for the Pokemon Center remix, and it's one of my favorite things to do in remixes. I must have subconsciously used a similar flow in the notes here, and I'm so psyched that you picked up on that detail!
Thanks also for the kind remarks on the video! I love how well Kali's line art came out, and I tried to do it justice by applying a glow effect on Marth and Roy against the black background - really happy to hear that you enjoyed that, as well! And I agree that Fire Emblem is definitely still an underrated franchise, but I'm glad to see that games like Awakening and Three Houses have really put it on the map - Awakening is the game that got me into the series, after all!

Hey, Aimee, thanks so much for the enthusiastic and detailed comment! I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed it and could feel the energy we were trying to infuse into the music! And I have to give him props for suggesting this piece, as well - I wouldn't have thought to do it initially, but I'm so glad that we did! :D
Thank you also for mentioning the artwork! When Kali showed me the line art and finished artwork for Marth and Roy, I legit went "WOAHHH!"...as I do pretty much each time, because it truly blows me away each time. Interestingly enough, she adapted those poses from screenshots we took in the training mode of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, to use as reference poses! It was a fun process, because we got to see how much detail work goes into the characters. So she selected those poses from about 10 from each character and we mapped out how the video could work them in. :)

Thanks for saying so! And I appreciate the positive remarks regarding his percussive elements! AvoCado's drums and percussion, along with the layering he did in the leads and myriad of supporting parts, sincerely blew me away when he sent them over. Thank you for the congratulatory words regarding the collaboration! This is actually my 3rd musical collaboration (and 4th overall, including the art from Aimee's Arthouse). My first collab was with Caleb P., who, like us, uses FL Studio. He really showed me the ropes of the process, and I have him to thank for getting into these kinds of projects in the first place! Additionally, NostalJack provided vocals for my previous Fire Emblem remix, and that was an awesome project, as well, that I'm grateful to have been a part of.
I'm very glad that you liked the visuals here! Heh, the fighting animations aren't super smooth, I'll admit, but getting things to move around in the ZGameEditor Visualizer can be a bit of a challenge, as you know. Still, I thought it would be cool to have the two Fire Emblem characters introduced in Melee to be clashing swords at the start! There had to be some rivalry, after all! ⚔

And then the Remix text catches fire the moment the melody comes in! The remix is literally FIRE! (Emblem) :O My mind is blown just from the depth behind the intent of the visuals and we're only in the first few seconds!
The percussion in this remix is just nuts! It all works and supports every aspect of the music with creative masterfulness! Avocado did AMAZING with the drums! Also, the instruments throughout the remix sound so prominent and gentle. I love it!
The outro is insane too! The downer at 1:59 that finishes the remix, cuts out so smoothly and it's just ear candy!

Dude, I'm so pumped to hear that you liked the intro here! Although I've always been a "big finish" kind of guy, I'm slowly but steadily beginning to realize the importance of creating a captivating intro, in terms of both visuals and music. Your specific feedback on the way the title text is presented means a lot, and I'm glad that the coordinated timing made a difference! ZGEV's "Alpha" parameter is by far my most used one - I literally don't know what I'd do without it! (also, your wordplay is fantastic 😁)
For real, huge props to AvoCado for his amazing work on the percussive elements! In addition to the drums, he created much of the supporting parts and layers in the lead, as well. Honestly, the guy is a genuine pleasure to work with, and he seamlessly adapted his instruments to the initial arrangement I had sent over. If you have an opportunity to work with AvoCado, I'm sure it'll be an awesome experience for the both of you, as well!
I'm glad that, in spite of the intensity and energy, you felt that some of the instruments still had a gentle quality to them. I always want the instruments to still have an element of high listenability, so it means a tremendous amount to hear that you felt it struck that critical balance! And thanks for your remarks on the outro, as well! That final note, with the added downsweep and impact is one that took a while to get just right (collectively, I probably spent like 45 minutes on that final note alone), so it's really gratifying to hear!

Thanks so much for the detailed and heartfelt comment, Turt! I'm grateful that you were able to be a part of the premiere, and I appreciate your taking the time to do so. 😊
Now you've got _me_ feeling emotional reading your comment! Honestly, the things you mentioned are the specific aspects that I really hoped would convey what I felt while working on my part of the music and the video. Cliché and cheesy though it may sound, sometimes I get welled up when thinking about ideas for the audio or visuals that are impactful to me. The way you described it - as a rollercoaster of intensity and tenderness - just has me beaming right now (and definitely not teary-eyed)!
That key change is something that felt like it could really up the ante in the final segment of the song, and I originally had a more involved idea to correlate in the video, but I ended up running a bit short on time, so I thought it might be cool to have Marth push Roy out of the way to dodge what I assume is an incoming projectile. AvoCado was really flexible about the arrangement and adapted his parts beautifully to the initial arrangement I sent over, so being able to deviate and add in flourishes - like that piano run at 0:40 that I'm _so_ glad you mentioned - was a breeze!
It's really great to see you again, and I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this experience! I hope life has been treating you well, my friend, and I will see you soon! :D

I appreciate the specific feedback on the drums and bass - AvoCado and I worked on those parts, respectively, and I agree that he did a fantastic job with the percussive elements! I really wanted the main melody part of the song at 1:17 to be powerful and elegant, and to hopefully convey a feeling of camaraderie and mutual support. The way our individual tracks merged at that point especially was really meaningful, and even though this situation never officially happened in the Fire Emblem games, one thing I love about the series is that there are always moments like these, where characters are giving it their all, fighting alongside one another.
