I just like talking about stuff that makes me happy
Channel is not monetized, and I am not a brand affiliate to any company.
I don't want your money, but you can always donate to the hospice I do some work for. That would be very awesome of you actually.
Thanks for being here and for everyone being so awesome all the time.

This took me 3 days, 5 tries, and I can't get under 15 minutes. Sorry about that, too much love. No payment, no discounts, no nothing was traded for this video. I just want to help spread the good word of Total World Domination. Thanks for everything Leka, seriously. www.varusteleka.com

Happy Anniversary to the Love of my Life
Hey there Mr. Keyes. I’m no armchair expert when it comes to felling trees. I have only limited experience. Seems you’ve got half the battle covered , which is understanding there’s significant danger and that you need help. The other part the experts can help with is the experience to know what to do and how to do it. I can tell you understand this. So many surprises await, take care! :). Good to see you had so many hands helping out to make quick work of it.
Good thing that there is progress on trees! Also, congratulations on the successful volunteering action!
أحسن حقيبة .
Are you American? If so, Does savotta deliver to the US?
I am, but I live in Europe. They are looking into US shipping but for now your best bet is Varusteleka www.varusteleka.com/en/brands/savotta/85
@@Tim_Keys Thank you dude!! I will def look at this website, thank you so much. Also, on the website, it says the euro prices still? Will this be a problem for me? I live in the US, is there a way to look at the US prices in this website?
Your a good man, tim. Looking sharp too
As are you my friend, that's why I'm always sending people your way. I know it's a recommendation I can stand by. Even if the person hears me say it 5 years after I originally posted it, I believe it will still ring just as true. And I ain't looking sharp, I'm looking confident with help from folks like you and a few thousand kind strangers :) I owe these folks a lot
Best overview about Askare on YT. Thanks
this video sold me on one of these. just ordered today. I'm pretty excited
Awesome work! I'm glad you got that pitchfork!, now you can start a riot! 😃 Stay strong brother.
Always make sure your tools can do double duty :)
We use those Fiskars rakes at work (wooden handle but same head) and let me tell you now they are probably the most bombproof tools we have in the barn. Only ever had to buy a new one once and that's because it got lost lol, but the other two are older than I've worked there (3 years) and at least another 3 years on top of that having worked with a previous gardener. And this is intense year-round use, not being pretty with it, throwing it around, pushing it into shrub stems and bending the prongs, raking on concrete, etc. Bit more flex in the old ones but good as new.... I'm rambling, I guess you can indeed nerd out about rakes, but point being they're a good investment! You're an good dude Tim, I hope to help out soon bud 🤙 Get better soon!
Thanks for the well wishes Lenny :) and yes Fiskars is another one I will nerdily stand by. Haha maybe one of these days I will do a whole 30 mins on rakes, it would be absurdly easy to do
Thanks, good review. I am waiting for the delivery of mine Askare🙂. Next week I will be ordering a lot of equipment from Savotta, so I need elastic organizers to.
Good work at the hospice!
Thank you so much, and for your donation! I never thought in a million years this kind of thing would happen, but I appreciate all of you for everything
I saw the thumbnail and I just had to ask what kind of shirt are you wearing? It seems so comfortable. Also, just gotten my Hatka and attached it to my jakaari and I am so happy with it!
Man, I had a similar set up to yours! Changing mat, but wipes, as well as, a collection of diapers size 7 and 4 for the older and younger kid, respectively. Also attached two orange velcro mesh bags into the Askare to make sure we always have some pacifiers with us, as well as, hair clips for the girl. Furthermore, I attached each a 2x2 pouch on each side for smoothies, cookies, fruit bars and a small water cup 😃🎉😃🎉. Sometimes I feel that it makes me happier than the kids, who happen to take it for granted (of course 😅). Even my wife, however, mentioned how practical it is, so she also started carrying it despite of its tactical look 😅😅
Just ordered this thing as a Dad-Bag =)
awesome Review! It realy helped me to decide to buy the bag. Looking forward for more Videos of you about that Stuff!!
Hey! Love this video, might I ask where you bought your belt from? I'm in the UK and unfortunately dont want to spend way more than I need too
I'va started like everyone at Amazon but now my orders go directly to Varusteleka and Tacwrk.
I love the april fools products. 😄
Hi Keys, could the the Kahakka 15L attached to Kahakka 25L as well. I got 25L but still want to extend the volume with 15L
Hatka might be your better bet here, it will keep your center of balance from going too far back on you. And it's just much better in general as additional storage or a backup daypack
@@Tim_Keys thank so much for your advise
Hi Tim, I’ve bought the Kukkaro and 2x2 GP pouches after seeing your video (you’re Savotta’s best advertiser), but I find that the pouches sit very close to the pack - so close in fact that the adjacent sides squeeze each other. A video of exactly how you attach them would be very welcome. Thanks again for your excellent videos!
Thank you for the kind words friend :) So they do sit rather close, but the bending of the belt around my waist puts them in great position for me. Zippers would be a problem, but I just make sure they are on the "correct" side and free. I will play around and see about a solution for you though, we might not be the same body type or carrying style
@ Thanks a lot, buddy - it’s a good point that they’re not worn on a line but curving around the body. Keep up the great work with the videos; I’ll never get tired of your level of detail and new ways to utilise these great products.
❤️ thank you!
Just a very satisfied customer who is also very grateful you put up with his annoying questions all of the time :)
Best ad varusteleka could ask for. And that is not a bad thing.
Ive missed out on a couple of things from them ill never find again. I want the lukha that was made from the surplus Finnish wool so bad
Sometimes you just gotta jump on stuff. I have a lot of useful gear on hold, way down on the shopping list, just to make sure the low-stock items are closer to the top
Salut mec 😎, est-il possible de mettre la ceinture ventrale du JAAKARI L sur le M ?
varusteleka is fam. would recommend to a friend.
It's ran by a nutjob (in a good way) that enjoys what he does.
They really dont do much surplus now a days, mostly due to the fact that surplus is really scarce in 2024. There used to be a whole bunch of surplus on their selection but now its just mostly their own products. Still mostly great producs and if not, they leave honest reviews up on their site even if negative.
Supply in surplus has taken a major hit since covid and now the war in Ukraine. Add in all the craziness of the world right now, and there just ain't no surplus of surplus anymore They still have a lot of surplus to choose from, just not as much as we would like. But that's a problem I see with almost all army shops these days.
@@Tim_Keys Yeah its not exactly a Varusteleka issue, I've just been a customer since like 2010 so I'm a bit jaded :D
I came here to comment same. I've been customer since ~2010 aswell and noticed the shift from surplus to Varusteleka's own product lines and more expensive brands. They used to sell e.g. lots of Mil-Tec which cannot be found in their catalog atm. Also some special items like the Savotta straps and G-hooks that I've used a lot in my own projects have become really expensive there so that I have to consider other options.
Great video, brother. 100 percent stand by varusteleka
Thanks man, and I absolutely agree. Not just a great shop, but the folks over there are just fantastic
Tutorial and recommendation for added hip belt please
What’s the details of the zipped merino top you’re wearing?
It's this guy right here: Särmä Merino Wool Sweater w. Zipper www.varusteleka.com/en/product/sarma-merino-wool-sweater-w-zipper/35228
@@Tim_Keysthanks, just ordered one.
It's a key part of my winter survival in Central Europe, it gets super cold out here. For years I sucked with polyester until the articles on Varusteleka convinced me I was being unreasonably afraid of taking care of wool. Now I am smooth sailing every day built up from a Särmä TST L2 base thermal set up through some recommended layers and life is actually comfortable. Sometimes you have to speak idiot to me to get me to understand, and they all speak a decent level of basic infantryman. And they wouldn't mind when I take notes with crayons
Great company with a great sense of humor 😁
I've been a satisfied customer since 2019. Never had an issue. I've bought a backpacks, knives (Skrama), raingear and insulation. Functional, not fashion, just what I eant!
Merci Bonne continuation
Varusteleka really is the best milsurp store out there, not just in Europe but globally. It's what americana pipe dream and all the others strive to be. I went to their original store like.... 17 years ago? and it was this little room in some random forgotten location. Hope to go to the big store next summer if I go back to Finland.
I'm hoping to get up there and visit for Brutality this winter, it would be awesome to see the shop. And one person up there said there's a beverage waiting for me at Sotima, so I can't just leave it on the counter ya know?
@ it would be rude to not drink it
@ indeed
I found them, after i found savotta on youtube, and had to have one of their packs. Now i keep a constant tab open to check out the shop regularly.
Same here my friend. Just so I don't have to log in or clear cookies I keep a separate browser on my phone that stays logged in to Varusteleka and Savotta. Everything else is temporarily open on a browser wiped often
Haha hello Tim, good to hear from you. I recieved their finnish canteen and some bunch of other things. Everything is absolutely perfect, especially their Särmä T1 merino wool t-shits... Absolutey love it and very cheap for the quality offered. Thanks to you by the way, those advices are very practical (as for the bags too, you made me buy the Askare haha). Glad to hear you again. Greetings from Brest, France. L
I'm very glad it all worked out great for you too, and I'm glad I could help. As for Finnish canteens I just bought 2 more an hour ago haha
@@Tim_KeysRegarding the canteens, they are of course handy also because they fit the small side pockets in a Jääkäri. Which is why I use them. But there’s actually a smaller, 0,65 liter version of the canteen, which I often use when my Jääkäri is quite full and it’s too hard to put it back in the small pocket while walking. Unfortunately it’s not sold at Leka.
Now that is something I need to look into, seems perfect size and very handy for a smaller option. I'm writing that down right now
Varusteleka is great shop, i can only recomend.
Damn, thanks. No idea how you came across a random 1k view video though. Kinda nice.
Haha the weirdest is when I pop up recommended to one of my friends. I don't really tell anyone I do this
"Hello, welcome to the first and popably only time Im doing this since I'm not a videoperson" 9 Months later: seems you are The trusty source for us Savotta-Nerds. Thanks for your videos. Always good Info + Inspiration on how to handle my stuff. Aftrer your detailed Video on the Kukkaro I got one too. @Savotta: get this man some more gear PLS.
Haha yeah it kind of got out of hand, but I really appreciate all of you and all the really cool people I am meeting. I'm a lot more comfortable now and I feel like I'm just talking to a bunch of nerdy friends I'm glad you're here friend :)
I am looking for a daypack to attach to the outside of my Jaakari L, with the intent to leave the main pack at camp before climbing up to the summit. Which small daypack would you recommend to attach to my Jaakari? The Hatka, or the Kahakka 15L?
Let me get back to you on this one, there might be some surprise variables to take into account.
I would love to know the same! Would perhaps also the Kahakka 25 l work, or would it be too much weight, distributed too far away from the back? Really appreciate your channel, btw. Thank you for all the details and enthusiasm you put into your videos!
Don’t know why this is recommed but sharing and liking for support
I appreciate it :) but yeah I realize that there are people out there watching that are just getting started, so there will be some of this stuff coming out to help them out
Do you live in Hungary by any chance? I see stuff in there that you can only buy here
Slovakia, but I get my medical gear through a login-based professional supplier so the options can get pretty interesting sometimes
@@Tim_Keys oh, I see! So we're neighbors! How did you end up there? (I think you said that you came from California?)
I made some friends here while I was traveling, and I just kept extending my stay. It ended up with me moving into the room upstairs from the guy who is now my best friend 8 years later.
Nice! Another little hangup is on the Sarma CP15 where it uses this system, except after removing the male buckle the velcro strap keeper prevents you from performing the passthrough. It can in fact be removed and reattached without any damage, as snug as it is fitted! I know this has caught a few people out in particular. +1 for quicktips too! But only if we still get some waffling here and there too ;-)
More quick tips incoming :) I'm trying to erase some of the barrier for people to get started. We all needed to learn sometime and this community has a tendency to assume people already have a great deal of base knowledge. Zipper pulls, load lifters, all that stuff is planned. Today I'm making a video on Varusteleka, for people asking who Bruce Daleka is
Short content for basic stuff is appreciated on my end! Didn't not need this in particular, but i could see a playlist of this sort of video cone in handy every now and then. Keep up the good work (be it in long or short form)!
I appreciate it my friend :) I'm just trying to knock down some low walls for people to get to the fun part easier and faster
I've been looking for a belt that feels secure and actually properly fits me for some time, and this looks like the perfect one! Any recommendations for acquiring one in Canada? It seems like until Varu carries it, or possibly Lamnia, I'm just SOL. Also, thanks for the content. As someone who doesn't have much time for UA-cam anymore, its nice to open it up and have useful videos about something I care about from someone who's down to earth.
I'm here for folks like you and me my friend, have to pick and use time wisely these days. And there's no sense getting too crazy with it when you don't have to As for Canadian shipping, I'm not too sure on that right now. There are a few really cool things cooking in the background that are taking up the extra time and energy at both companies. But, everyone is tracking the needs and wants, it's all about logistics at this point.
gotta try some alternatives out for my kahakka, the knot was digging into my side last time i took it out. Only on one side oddly.
There are a few ways to do it. My hope here is just to teach someone's hands how to tie it once, then they already know how to tie it in all the other orientations too
My Kahakka 15 also dug into my lower back, I followed a tip on reddit on how to turn the knots to the outside and they no longer dig into my side. Weirdly the knots on the Kahakka 25 don't bother me at all
Should I put up another video with an alternate way? But that does make sense on the 25L, it has a wider base that brings these loops further away from you
@@Tim_Keys I wouldn't bother, as long as folks know there's more than 1 way to tie the knots they can experiment and find what works for them. Mostly I feel bad for some who sent the Kahakka back cause the knots dug into their back, not realizing you can just flip them around and it works just fine. And good point about the Kahakka 25's wider base.
Long hair suits you. Haven't seen Jaakari S on the channel yet. Also maybe the small hip pack? Sorry it's just those are the items I'm interested in.
Thank you, I definitely enjoy having it back after a long time being short again As for the Jääkäri S and small hip pack, I have a few things lined up for these. I just need the time and to knock some other stuff out first
@@Tim_Keys Sure! Thank you.
Nice taste in shirts! If I didn't know any better I'd say we have the exact same one
This is my Särmä tuxedo, it comes out for the best of occasions :) I am getting closer to sorting out my tree problem at the hospice today (hopefully)
@Tim_Keys I usually pair mine with the fanciest piece of jewelry I own (wästikivi sharpening stone necklace)
Haha my kind of guy right here
Thank you for this! Just read on reddit the topic and the video was already up.
It was perfect timing all around, if I can do it I always will
you uploaded this _hours_ before I looked this product up hahaha! (let it open for a bit oops). Good vid, subbed
Where do you get the webbing Straps from? I can’t understand it. Somethink Stalllika? Do you have a link? Thank you in advance.
Varusteleka, I'm sorry about that. It's a Finnish webshop that is a close cousin company to Savotta. It is where I recommend checking for everything you need. Great people over there, some of my favorite
