#1. These videos are great. Well thought out, organized, informative, thorough, comprehensive, insightful, and no nonsense. This is quality and expensive gear --most people can't put hands on them without significant investment and you won't find them at your local sporting goods. You save us time, trouble & greenbacks. Outstanding work. Thank you. #2. What are your thoughts on connectivity & weight distribution between the Jaakari XL, Kahakka 25L, Askare as a multi-week/daypack/commuter rig for long term international travel in urban and field environments. #3. I've seen the JXL & K25 connected via D-hook. Seems stable but lacking the ability to cinch for flexibility with optimal load distribution. I could be wrong. Of course, the more load you add horizontally, the less stability and more sway you're going to have. Economically speaking, seems better to add weight in the coronal plane before the para-sagittal plane in most cases (up. down, & sides vs farther behind you).
Thank you for the kind words my friend, I'm just doing what's right by the community. And as for your setup, I think I would have to know more. In my current thinking I would advise breaking some of that size and weight up among a team or a sled. Are you moving primarily in summer or winter conditions? No matter what, personally, I would not plan to start and stop a long journey with that same setup lasting me the whole way. Maybe even look at waypoint gear drops with friends or local sporting businesses.
By far my favorite combo, but right now I am also playing with making the kukkaro into a hip belt. I almost got it, I just need to make it less complicated.
A bit random and late I know, but I just got a 4l pouch (pre-loved and cheap) and had to try fitting it in the side pocket. One thing I accidentally noticed is when everything is properly compressed, as it would be while full, the bottom-most webbing tab on the side of the kahakka gets caught in the top-middle PALS loop of the 4l pouch and prevents it from sliding out. Pretty cool! Hope you're well Tim!
Using the compression straps for the small pouch was pretty creative. May have changed my perspective on the bag Also come to realize you can use the 4 compression g hooks to possibly strap down the 4 corners of a chest rig and use that as a beavertail or quick reload
Very true, I can see this being an amazing medic's bag. A full trauma throw kit on each side, with some kind of pull-out insert system for the main bag body... I think I might have some emails to write now....
I know you are all about attachments and modularity but I am still looking forward to the simple (but great?) 202... ;) Hatka and Askare looks like a nice combo... :D And keep up the nice work... great videos! :)
I hailed you as a genius when I saw the bungee securing the 4l pouch in the side pouch! Kahakkas keep on impressing the more we tinker with them. Great vid dude :) P.S. the axe loop came. It fits my axe, fits my skrama, AND fits my weeding hoe. You know how long I've been looking for a good way to holster that damn hoe?! Cheers once more, bless you mate.
Hatka might be your better bet here, it will keep your center of balance from going too far back on you. And it's just much better in general as additional storage or a backup daypack
I am looking for a daypack to attach to the outside of my Jaakari L, with the intent to leave the main pack at camp before climbing up to the summit. Which small daypack would you recommend to attach to my Jaakari? The Hatka, or the Kahakka 15L?
I would love to know the same! Would perhaps also the Kahakka 25 l work, or would it be too much weight, distributed too far away from the back? Really appreciate your channel, btw. Thank you for all the details and enthusiasm you put into your videos!
The zippers on Kukkaro are great, from Kroko in Belgium. They are trusted among military, fire, law enforcement, and others who need to put a lot of trust in a European made product.
Damn man! Now i have to order the kukkaro too... My wife is going to be so pissed.... I will put it all on you! I really like your videos even the long ones. Its not easy to find people to geek out about this. I have the 15L. Mayby you can review my pack whats inside and stuff?
I'm glad I can help but do you mean like a full break down of you have in your pack? That will probably be different for everybody and saying what is right and wrong can be a mine field out here.
Tim, when you mention *"female buckles"* in all of these videos related to the many aspects of the 15-liter and 25-liter Kahakka packs, are you referring to the *"Savotta 2M WB SR PALS-mount, 25mm buckles,"* or to some other type of female buckle? "*Specifically, what exact female buckle is installed onto the top face of the Savotta 4-liter Side pouch that you demonstrated turning into an over-the-shoulder go-bag/mini-haversack with the addition of a short length of 25mm webbing that has a male buckle on both ends"* *"Thanks for the very informative video as well as graciously answering all of mine, as well as everyone else's questions!"*
If there was a "correct" answer I would definitely let you know, but when I say stuff like that I really mean anything you find from Savotta. Most of their available buckles are compatible and you can find your preferred method after the idea is planted. I'm just here for ideas, not answers.
I was wondering, can you fit 2 x Kukkaro on top of each other on the back? If the medkit is at bottom with tourniquet and on top of it would be another Kukkaro?
Is the MPP foam mat too small for the 25L Kahakka or would it be a good addition to the pack? Would the S size backpack cover be enough or should I get the M version? Really nice overview videos, I watched all of them :)
Thank you friend :) And the MPP foam mat will be perfect, it is the same width but just slightly shorter in length to the foam pad that comes with the Kahakka. As for the rain cover, definitely go medium. That way you can expand and attach.
Can you potentially put two 3x4 pouches on the front using the upper molle and g hooks for the lower stabilisation? Or even better only molle top and bottom?
Does the 25L combine as well as the 15L with the KUKKARO? Or does it just look too big for the KUKKARO Im thinking about getting the 25L as I want to be combine it with EDC and day hiking/camping
I switch between a Griffin Mod Sling from Savotta, and a Särmä TST General Purpose Sling. It kind of depends if I am wearing a jacket, or some other factors
@@Tim_Keys just wait until they re-release their baby carrying vest/backack and name it "kakara" or something, then we'll be in for some real brain twisters
Haha no way am I going to encourage scratching cordura. Besides, these cats have homemade hardwood and softwood climbing/scratching posts but they just want anything more interesting
It is hard to choose, but I use the 15 a lot more in my every day life. Mainly because it is the perfect size for my saws and other tools, but when I need some extra room I grab the 25

Sorry about the baby sounds. He just learned how to climb anything and everything, and he can't understand why we won't let him climb the bookshelf.
Do you cann add two of the 4l side pouches on the Front of the kahakka 25l?
"mined field of savotta" sounds like heaven

Nicely done, Tim! The 15L and KUKKARO combo is perfect.

All is good Lenny :) catching up on weeks of comments haha. I like that bit with the side pocket, it's just one of those hidden lego gems
Ordered the 15L since I already got a pricy 25L pack earlier this year and seeing all these possible uses for it just makes me more excited.
Like ur videos. Ordered a 15L yesterday. Never heard of Savotta bevor. Greetings from Germany
Danke mein freund :)
I'm glad to hear you got it, personally the 15L is my favorite
Nice set ups. That 3x4 looks perfect.
Thanks
Nate
For that beaver tail it might really be the best shape and size, I probably should have spent a little bit more time with that one
@@Tim_Keysdoes the 3x4 fit on the molle on the front of the pack to help hold it in place? Or is it off center?

Yeah I didn't quite know how to respond to you earlier, but this is the best I could do to show how to get around what you were talking about
Love the enthusiasm! Great video!
That 4 l pouch in the side pocket would make a great trauma/medical "throw" kit. Easy to get out and easy to carry separately.

202 coming very soon, I just want to help some people out before these new backpacks start selling out
@@Tim_KeysQuick check and found only one seller besides Varusteleka that had olive Kahakka 25 in stock.
Thomas: You can attach a Dutch canteen pouch to the carrying handles of the 202. There's one bit of modularity.
Thanks for showing all the options. ❤

Hello Tim, again thank you very much for this video it helps a lot ! Nice seen you buddy
lol. I can’t believe that I love this channel so much!
I don't plan on changing :)
Hi Keys, could the the Kahakka 15L attached to Kahakka 25L as well.

Hey Tim, does the 25L Bag fit perfectly on top of the Askare when wearing it or would it sit to high?
This would definitely be a question for Jess over at Endurance Room, my Askare is modified and he uses his by design
