      Thank you :) I will keep these videos coming because I am having a lot of fun and no one within 100km of me cares how much of a Savotta nerd I am. How is my Finnish pronunciation by the way?

      Savotta sponsored Kukkaro giveaway at 1000 subreddit members yeah?

    • @Tim_Keys
      @Tim_Keys  7 місяців тому +2

      I would rather fund giveaways myself with the help of the community. The more people contribute, the bigger the giveaway. Or I can do smaller ones myself like the last one. I don't mind doing that, but I want to be able to give people backpacks and other super cool stuff.

      @@Tim_Keys that is an admirable mindset, but I don't think giving away something like one 60€ item would make a huge dent in the bottom line of a company with literal defense contracts considering the positive press and free marketing it could provide. I don't exactly expect them to do such a thing but it would be cool.

      @@Tim_Keys It should really bring some joy to know we do quite a lot of free giveaways, sort of: For the past few years that has mostly been donations to Ukrainian, especially Finnish volunteers and their units. So there's always that! We don't really do that for the good press or anything though, there's much bigger issues at work there.

    The kukkaro on the sternum as a med kit is elite.
    The askare as the scout /edc detachable is perfect.
    That combo alone is godly.
    Savotta need to make you a rep and send it all to you for testing.
    Keep up the great work champion.

    For the squeaky frame, just buy Vaseline and rub a thin layer all over the frame and shove it back in! Works great and is (I think) cheaper and more available than the WD40 that is recommended. Great video!

    • @Tim_Keys
      @Tim_Keys  5 місяців тому

      Out here in Europe, at least in this country, vaseline is a special order kind of deal. If you find it in the wild you know something went screwy in the world supply channels. Reminds me of finding Sharpies and Zebra pens during the pandemic, made sure to grab a decade supply

    I love to tinker with my savotta gear too! Great videos. One thing I noticed is that I consider your sternum strap too low. It will constrict your breathing and might even give you chest pains. Your chest should be able to expand without hindrance when breathing.

    • @Tim_Keys
      @Tim_Keys  5 місяців тому +1

      Thank you, haha and yes tinkering is a huge reason why Savotta is my drug of choice. You can tinker with other brands but I've ripped PALS webbing off of Tasmanian Tiger before while doing stuff that a Savotta bag could do all day.
      I will try this out with the sternum strap and see if it improves my breathing, but this is just where my muscle memory wants to find it from my time in the army. I am having a very hard time overcoming that training and gear

    great video.. 1 question what is that piece of hardware you use to hold your belt adjustment straps from dangling?

    • @Tim_Keys
      @Tim_Keys  7 місяців тому +1

      It is a set of Tatonka Webbing Keepers, 25mm. Tatonka is the civilian sister to Tasmanian Tiger, same company, and they have an amazing selection of plastic hardware for all kinds of needs

    Great video! What shirt and jeans are you wearing?

    • @Tim_Keys
      @Tim_Keys  7 місяців тому +4

      Everything I wear is from Varusteleka, they have my devout loyalty based on their business practices and great quality. But I do go behind their backs to buy my bags directly from Savotta to maximize the manufacturer profit margin, just don't tell anybody ;)
      The shirt is the Särmä TST L1 Coolmax T-Shirt (buy one size up from your normal, they are made to be undershirts)
      The jeans are the Särmä Tactical Jeans (buy one size down from your normal, they are a high waist)

      @@Tim_Keys I noticed you removed the loop patch from the shoulder. I left mine on; I find that it helps quickly telling left from right when putting the thing on :D

    4:23 to that guy: lower right-hand corner -> playback speed -> 2x ; makes this a 15min video. Profit.
    6:10 if not wanting to be brand-specific, any "dry lube" will do. Most likely it'll be the same stuff in the can anyways. Or then, silicone spray lube, which I would prefer instead of teflon (PTFE) spray.
    19:40 it would be awesome if they considered making the side wings attachable with zippers, or some such, so you could easily remove them. Probably the hip bag in any case won't be used in any kind rush-fall -type of movement.

    • @Tim_Keys
      @Tim_Keys  5 місяців тому

      Haha even my friends speed up the videos, no harm there
      And yes I do think they could have either offered without, or detachable wings, but I recently saw that these are combat tested in Ukraine so in practice they do seem to do the job well

    Wait what? Put the spray on the frame and the plastic stiffner? Shouldn’t the frame replace the plastic thingy?😮

    • @Tim_Keys
      @Tim_Keys  7 місяців тому +1

      If you use both you do not lose any space, but have the benefits of both items. The rigidity of the frame, and the flat hard armor and packing stability of the liner. Yes you should pack smart anyway, but you don't have to worry about things poking you in the back no matter what

      @@jayft4591 The "creaking" is caused by the synthetic material. I have the same problem.

    • @lassivaatamoinen5468
      @lassivaatamoinen5468 5 місяців тому

      @@jayft4591 The squeaking is basically just that the frame is tight fit in the pocket and the PU coating in the inside has slight stickiness to it.
