Thanks Jess, and thank you for all the help :) I have big plans for this 25, but when the 15 gets here I imagine it will fight the Askare for the every day spot
Which led us to 17 liter Savotta 202 ;) ..ultimate simplicity, just with limited attach points on it :D Great review! Keep filming (maybe something outdoors)! Greetings to you and Jess!
Jess is the man outdoors, I'm the boring guy in the backroom. I respect and enjoy Endurance Room so I will keep to my lane, where I'm having fun anyway. And rest assured me and Jess are talking, so our ideas will blend for you guys to have the best of both worlds
Great review. Thank you for your work! I bought a Jääkäri L second hand a while ago for longer hikes and fell totally in love with it. Today my brand new Kahakka 25l arrived for everyday use, and what can i say? Beautiful piece of equipment. The biggest surprise for me were the side pockets. Huge is just understatement 😅 Now i've ordered some shock cord and pack straps to modify it a little bit. Savotta all the way! 😎🤘🏻
@@Tim_Keys Well, that's one of the things it was meant to do :D The 25L can "nicely" (it's horrible of course, but such is life) carry one (well, two, but...) 200 rd PKM box in the main comparment and a 100 rd box in each side pouch.
Hi Tim,i'm watching your videos from a while and they helped me so much to make decisions about Savotta product.I first bought the Kukkaro some weeks ago,and now the Kahakka 25 just after watching this video, the last day,it was an instant buy for me.Already own and enjoy the jakari M and L from a couple of year,i think Savotta products are simply the best stuff out there, and your videos are the right way to understand the full potential of theyr products, you just make excellent reviews! cheers form Italy ✌
This backpack video showed up recomended, yeah i can quickly see what this dude thinks about it... Had to watch it all the way to the end. Your honest smile and joy about green quality kit really comes through. ( good thing, everybody hates youtuber fake smile) And as the title say this was a complete overview, well done. Subscribed for more tips.✅ Greetings from Finland.
Thank you so much, and yes I really am just doing this for fun. The moment I feel like it's a job, I am out of here. It would be no fun and that would definitely show through
Hello there! I found this video through the recommendation of Endurance Room; a channel I truly enjoy following. And I wanted to say how much I appreciate not only your review of this pack, but the refreshingly different way you went about it. (ie. the deconstruction of its conventional form along with suggested adaptations.) Very nice! But I think what I found most appealing is the sheer gratitude with which you received the gift from Savotta. That was the first thing you expressed in this video. And it says a lot about you. (New subscriber)
Jess is a treasure, truly a good man. His style I have found goes perfect with cooking dinner, chill and friendly, knowledgable and informative. Thank you for the kind words, I never thought I would be doing this but here I am. I was lucky enough to catch a first production run of the Askare and Kukkaro so I just wanted to show people what to expect from them. And then well, haha it kind of got out of hand, but I am meeting some amazing people along the way. That's the best part of it all. I truly am thankful. Not just for the gift, but for all of you too. There is a fantastic bunch of folks in this little community.
This looks like what I always wanted my Jääkäri M to Be. M has been my daily partner for years but sometimes it's just quite enough and with side pockets feels too bulky to ride on the bus. But the Kahakka 25 feels like a dream come true for me.
I have a great feeling that this pack is right for you, but maybe wait until you see a little bit more of the 15L before jumping on it. I still have not seen it in person myself, but I don't want to point you in the wrong direction
Thank you for this superior content. It is a pleasure to watch. Maybe bit long video(s) for some people (those are mostly like tiktok-adhd-people) but it just would not be possible to make shorter if you want to show all the details. And most of us want it that way, including me. Btw, it would be nice to see these bags and pouches used in the field also. I mean like endurance room-style (hope that I correctly typed that channel name). But he is using those stuff like in a bushcraft/hiking style so you can maybe do the city/urban version of that? And the last words.. Keep up the good work and spread the love of/for Savotta!
You know, this may be one of the most inspiring comments I have received so far. Thank you dearly kind stranger, it truly means a lot. And as I would always recommend Endurance Room for items in use, your idea to split into the urban realm is something to think about. It may just be something I do in the future. My only concern being that I live in a tiny ancient town, so I can't get away with camera work in public without taking some hits to a decent reputation I have built here. And as for keeping up the love, that will always be easy with Savotta
@@Tim_Keys If it is not (yet?) possible to shoot that kind of videos outdoors, maybe it can be sort of simulated indoors. Like how you pack your bags (what item goes where and why you prefer that). So like a example of usage. You have (for example) some way done that with those canteen bottles but I'd like (and maybe others too?) to see the example of daily usage. Just for the future ideas and stuff. And a touch of funny side to that too maybe. Like Savotta does on some of their marketing videos. My english is not so good within this side of vocabulary so I hope that I did not say anything wrong.. And I don't want to use the translator for a good reason.. 😄
I will definitely give this some good thinking, it would be something that would give some cool ideas. Haha the inside of my Askare is beautiful, and really it would just be cool to show some people too. It's hard when you think something is pretty awesome but no one is around to show it to. And as for english don't worry at all, and I get your not wanting to use a translator. I live in Europe now and do the same thing as you. But I can say that your english is fantastic, I would not know there is any difficulty for you. If you ever post a comment in your language, I'm sure someone around here may even appreciate it, and I will try my best to answer it in that language if I can
Ok, I'll do that. But there are surely words that may not be translated correctly or even at all. But let's fo it: Olis tosi hienoa joskus ehkä jopa törmätä maailmalla. Kuitenki samanhenkinen porukka / ihmiset on sellasia minkä kans tulee hyvin toimeen ja löytyy jutun juurta. Jos joskus eksyt Suomen maalle ni saa laittaa viestiä. Ehkä ostetaan koko Savotan katalogin kaikki tavarat 😄 Toki muutenkin jos asiaa tulee, joku askarruttaa niin saa kysyä. Aika monesta paikasta mut löytää samalla nimimerkillä mitä kuvassakin on tekstinä. Kiitos hyvistä videoista ja pyri pitämään taso yllä! Ps. If you find that text translated funny or something, I may be able to get more corrected one for you. There are few things written that may be hard to get translated to the same thing. Or meaning of that original one.
Haha google translate was pretty crazy, but I think I figured out everything that you said. I have found out with Finnish on this journey, voin yrittää, mutta todennäköisesti epäonnistun I definitely plan to come up to Finland some time, after talking to some really awesome people up there it would be a lot of fun to visit. Especially Varusteleka. I think it would be really cool to meet other people too, like a big Savotta nerd party I will keep the videos coming and I don't plan to change my style, don't worry :)
Great review! To loosen the G-hooks, pull them from the metallic lower part with your thumb in the opposite direction of how you cinch tight the strap. That will release the tension. I hope this makes sense.
Man I love the people that came together around here, the only comment on my g-hook issues was your advice. And as simple as it is, I needed that! Thank you friend, I will update that one and give you some love in the 15L video
Haha you mean that stuff you make out of unobtainium and unicorn tears? One time I tried to pull a loose thread end off of your webbing before I melted it, pulled too hard and nearly saw my bone. Just cut the thread people. It's stronger than you.
Muscle memory locked in, loosening the G-Hooks is way easier now than the way I was doing it before. Thank you so much! I kind of feel like an idiot now but we all start somewhere right?
how cool that they sent you a backpack! i know you dont have a ton of subscribers yet. but they knew who would give it the best review! love your videos man, lots of info and your clear joy for the product is great! is the 15 litre on your wishlist?
Haha I thought it was a t-shirt and I was already excited. These folks really know how to make someone smile. And thank you so much for the kind words, I'll keep the good stuff coming and yes I am having a bunch of fun showing my favorite things. I just ordered the 15L yesterday, and I am very excited to see it. Jess at Endurance Room told me it is an amazing pack and he should have something out on it very soon
Looks like side pocket would make a great holster for a PS90 and the other for its volley inserts Savotta is crazy good stuff They make you think why cant everything be this practical and quality Dug the nerd out... Thx
I can't wait for mine to come in, I just ordered one too. Jess over at Endurance Room says it is a great bag and fits the middle ground between the Hatka and Jääkäri S perfectly, with unique capabilities not found in either. I am way too excited to see it
Great review mate, appreciate the vid so early - I think I've probably watched through it 3 times already waiting for Varusteleka stock. I think I'm most excited about the removable shoulders! I'll be trying two mods with this: 1st) removing the shoulders and making a system to attach it to an external frame (Either my LK35 or Kilimanjaro 229 (Did this with the Jaakari S and loved it, couldn't do it with the M)). 2nd) idea coming from an old promo picture floating on varustelekas facebook somewhere of their old discontinued battle belt. They had taken the CP15, which has the same belt system, and threaded it behind the molle panels in the belt.. Bit pointless with a 15l pack if you ask me but could be quite handy on the Kahakka 25 with heavier loads! Backpack nerds? Not us...
Now you are my kind of people :) I really like your ideas, if you don't mind I will try these out and feature them in the future. With a proper good shoutout to you of course, where credit is due.
@@Tim_Keys Of course mate! Can't wait to see your take on it. I'll try to share some updates too if I get to playing with the packs once they arrive :D
If you have a reddit account the nerds over there (me included) would love to have someone like you showing your ideas. It's really fun over there reddit.com/r/savotta
If I understand all of the translated Finnish articles correctly, this was a major factor in design. At the same time as this pack they are redoing the entire load bearing system for the Finnish Defense Forces
Tim, those open-mouth, bellows/folding side pockets appear almost large enough to accept a pair of the *"Self Reliance Outfitter, Pathfinder, 4" diameter × 9.75 tall, 64oz. stainless steel water bottles?"* Perhaps, each pocket is large enough to accept one 64oz. water bottle nesting inside of its matching 48oz. stainless steel cup/pot along with a second water bottle without the cup? I already reached out to Varusteleka but they currently have no idea when either of the Hakakka packs will be available for purchase. *Thanks for the video and the review!*
I don't have those specific items, but let me try to collect up some items around me of similar size to test this on. I will get back to you as soon as I can on that. My memory is pretty shit though so I have no problems if you remind me to get back to it I will keep an eye on stuff with Varusteleka, the moment I know anything I will let everyone know And seriously thank you friend, kind words keep me going
Very detailed on the presentation. I'm liking this pack. I was wondering if the Askare would fit on the back and you showed that perfectly. Do you think they would work together while wearing them both. Askare as the lumbar pack and the Kahakka as a normal pack? Nate
Thank you friend :) And to answer your question, unfortunately I customized my Askare too much to test it. But Endurance Room has you covered 100% there ua-cam.com/video/f3tVmxq2EVo/v-deo.htmlsi=4tan9K6ybEU0wt14
Since the pockets on the sides are 3 liters (at least according to your demonstration), this actually may be more like a 31 liter pack. So which would you recommend more for a 2-day setup, this pack or the Jääkäri M?
Yes 31 is more correct, but I think the open top and folding design keeps it from being officially counted. Choice between Jääkäri M and Kahakka 25? It depends on how far you travel and how much weight. If you are just going a short walk from the car to a campsite with light to medium weight, Kahakka. If you are traveling over terrain or going longer distance, or with heavier weight, Jääkäri
*Tim, are the G-hook side compression straps on the 25-liter Hakakka pack sufficiently long enough to allow you to attach the 12-liter Hatka day pack to the Hakakka pack when those bellows/folding side pockets are stuffed completely full?* If so, then a 25-liter Hakakka pack is definitely at the top of my purchase list as soon as they are available for purchase. Thanks!
Savotta just sent out email notifications regarding both of the Kahakka packs. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for European and Canadian vendors to receive stock for either pack. *I really want to be able to piggyback my 12-liter Hatka day pack onto the front face of a 25-liter Kahakka pack in conjunction with the Askare hip pack on my waist. Those 3 packs with a judicious selection of pouches, stuff sacks, and internal organizational pouches is really all the volume (and weight) that my 70-year-old shoulders, back, and legs are capable of supporting and transporting.*
Hello there! I'm trying to deside between the Kahakka 25 and the MR 2DAP. I'm 1.98 m tall (6ft 6'') and i'm worried about the Kahakka not having an adjustable torso length harness, as the MR has with it's Futura harness. I'm planning to use the backpack for edc and day hikes. The maximum weight that i'm going to carry will be 10-12 kg (most days the weight will be bellow 6kg). Have you ever tried the MR 2DAP and how would you compare it to the Savotta in terms of comfort and quality? Thank you in advance, Greetings from Greece!
Yes, especially with pack fitted up high on back. ASKARE fits under the 15L perfectly. I like that combo best, and prefer the ASKARE mounted onto KAHAKKA 25L
Merci Bonne continuation
Amazing and good detailed review. I have a question about how comfortable this backpack is with heavy loads. I am searching for a versatile backpack for many different situations to replace some other backpacks I have. Is the carryingsysthem good enough for wearing the backpack for some hours with heavyer load? I know about the carrying system of the jääkäri M but i like the versatility of the kahakka much more, especially for urban uses.
Urban and day use, one or two night use, is absolutely ideal. And I have found it more comfortable with heavier loads as the padding will form into your body better.
Thank's for your answer. I bought the 15l model first and it is just an amazing backpack. Now I really want to get the 25l model too, because I love the modularity of this Packs and the system with the G-hooks is incredibly useful.
I really enjoyed your review and videos! Nice work. This bag has my interest for sure. I plan on using it daily for my work, I am in the Canadian Coast Guard and my job has lots of remote sites/helicopter/boating/driving/ hiking in and out in all 4 seasons up here in the PNW in BC, while biking, then day hikes on the weekends and exploring with the family. Also winter use up in Northern BC and Alberta. Anyways this 25l seems to check so many boxes for me!!Average load would be 20 lbs and up to 40 plus lbs at some points. I am worried about how it may fit. How adjustable and comfortable have you found this pack? I am 6’2” 185 lbs so in your opinion do you think this pack would be too short? Thanks for the info! Cheers from Canada!
Ahoy ye pirate of puddles! Sorry, the army wouldn't forgive me if I let that one go. For your size I believe it would fit just fine, I have seen some talk of bigger folks having no problems at all. As for the weight, 20 lbs will feel great. At that weight the padding actually forms to your body more and makes it even more comfortable than 10 lbs. But getting close to 40 lbs is something I have not done yet, I can't give you a solid answer there
Lmao! I have never heard that saying before but being in the PNW. I think I get it! Hahahaha Thanks for the reply and your thoughts! I am pretty stoked to give this pack a go. Looking forward to seeing more content and ideas from you. Cheers!
I know the Kahakka is the star of the show but is this a 202 in the background? There are nearly no videos about the 202... I would not mind a short video... :D :D Thank you for this cool video! :)
@@Tim_Keys Really... I was not expecting that... thank you! :) I am looking for an all purpose backpack/daypack/edc and I have the 202, jaeger mini and now the 2 new guys on my list...so, lets se... :) Thanks again!
All it takes is a bit of adjustment and all will be fine, but delicate items in the side pockets might be an issue when using a front attachment. I am thinking lantern glass in this scenario, I think it's a good mental starting point
Hi there, great video, as always ; ), very detailed! Any chance to get the name/brand or any further info about the bottles you use to "test" the side pockets? Anyway, I'm a great fan of Savotta and have many packs and pouches, these last products seem to be really great. I've just got the Askare and it's great for a day in the woods, it's an essential pack but with plenty of room for anything you need.
The Askare is my favorite Savotta item for sure, great choice there And the soap bottles are from the brand Sonett. Biodegradable, super high quality, and not expensive. I found them through Varusteleka, they recommend them for wool care but I recommend them for everything
@@DanGibManI've got the kahakka 25, and i'd say it's a very nice hybrid for both. It has everything you need and nothing more, with ability to shrink it down to your casual schoolbag size by pulling the straps tight. Jääkäri M is not only bit too high for city casual, it relies on you attaching stuff to the 1001 strap possibilities, which you wouldnt in city. Then theres särmä, cheaper smaller bag especially for city, which isnt too good for hiking storage but for city, why not.
It is fairly smooth, I have had zero issues with clothing damage. If it was 1000D it would definitely destroy some light polyester but this 500D was a good solid choice for clothing contact.
Adjustable straps, chest belt, hip belt, more pockets, pockets reachable from outside… damn Savotta really wants me to buy a better version of the Jaeger S! I would use it as an University bag, u think a laptop fits into the bladder pocket?
They really are fantastic, great bags. But for your laptop question I would definitely check reddit. Go to reddit.com/r/Savotta and just search "laptop" People have talked about all kinds of laptop models and sizes but I am just not a tech guy myself. My 8 year old laptop is just a glorified watching box and I run all this on my phone
@@blagoyyanchev8083there's no harm in buying extra buckles, and maybe extra shock cords and cord stopper, perhaps 1 of the Savotta 6L vertical pouch to attach to the front of your pack just in case you need extra space and you wanna wear the Askare as your hip belt just don't let your wife finds out 😉
I've skimmed this video more than once and it has helped me a lot. I'm still not sure if i should buy the jakkari M or kahakka 25. Will be my first savotta bag too. I'm leaning towards the kahakka25 mostly because it's new and improved. Do i really need the slightly larger jakarri M with that beautiful side zip? The jakkari hip belt is something i might never use and might be annoying. Decisions decisions 🤔 Does it even matter for a scrawny city boy like me? Probably going to only use it as a carry on luggage and whenever a backpack is useful. Either way thanks for the videos!
ProTip: Attach Askare to Kahakka 25l using G-hooks. Then, you can use those split-bar female clips on your Askare to attach it to, for example, Jääkäri L 😎👍🏻
Aha I see what you mean, FDF style. It would work perfectly in that kind of practice. In the US army our assault pack was always packed and ready to GTFO into the desert
Well, yes, kind of, but also no. This thing is a bomb proof piece of modifiable engineering. But it doesn't stand out to you as something you need in your life, that's alright. There are a crazy amount of backpacks out there these days and you will know the one you need when you see it
Look at the shoulder strap padding haha, it makes the Jaagari M strap even more of a joke. Thank you for the detail review! You cover a lot more essentials details
@@Tim_Keys btw, you said in the video that you had the aluminium frame in the Jaagari M pack, do you used it together with the plastic frame sheet or you removed it?
Both together, it works great. No space taken up by that thin sheet and it provides a sturdy back wall to square off the load. Added benefit of protecting you and the bag from any pokey bits you might have missed
In fact, You can carry a lot of weight with that type of belt. My 25 years old Karrimor Hot Ice 30L mountaineering Backpack has the same, and I carried often 15Kg with it
I'm in two minds between 15&25. I'm 6ft 50" chest... Concern is the 15 might look a bit like a school pack on me 🤣🤣 so id go for 25...but can it be sinched down to be a smaller pack for smaller loads
I'm not sure, I don't have any Hill People Gear products

It is only you who is to blame that i've bought not only the kahakka 25 but also the jääkari m, the kukkaro, the hatka, the askare and the fdf sleeping pad. Shame on you. 😊
It's hard to stop once you finally found what you've been searching for! Years and years of experimentation and guesswork, just to finally retire in Finnish gear warehouses
Was waiting on your review :) thank you for the content. It seems that can you attach the removable straps on the Savotta Hatka right ? With the current mods you have on it i'm pretty sure it does, your 2 buckles away from having it custom made, but curious now on the standard hatka with the metal D rings. The D rings on the pack straps remind me of the old girl A.L.I.C.E pack
I appreciate you man :) And yes you can absolutely attach them to the Hatka just fine, that's a reason why I will try my hardest to convince them to sell these as a separate accessory.
Yes they are the Hestra Ergo Tactility. What I say next does not reflect Hestra, just this one model. I hear amazing things about their other models but I do not have them I burn through these as fast as mechanix. I can't recommend this model to you and feel good about it. The price point is pushing me away from any future purchase.
Thanks, i thought it looked like Hestra! I use the Ergo Grip Active - they last me about a year and a half with almost daily and periodically heavy use. I wish they lastes a little longer. From your description and the product description it seems like the Tactility model might be slightly less durable.
I think that may be my problem and why I feel very weird about criticizing the product. It seems Hestra is amazing for colder weathers, but not great for what I use them for. I can imagine this set as amazing shooting gloves, but even just cutting the grass over a summer will destroy them
Nice review, thanks! Does the german sleeping mat also fit into the back "pocket" instead of the foam pad? If it does not fit with the standard folding, it maybe fits if you fold it lengthwise (like this: ua-cam.com/video/x45wLxYsG08/v-deo.html). Would be really interesting to know!
Thanks for the video! That was very interesting and good stuff. My German mat is out in Denmark right now with my buddy, but as soon as he gets back I will try to remember to test this out. Don't feel weird about reminding me, I'm absolutely cool with that
Lets see how long you actually use it. I predict one year or less. Most people nowadays ( especially this generation) are not happy with what they have even though they're gear is fully functional and does everything it is supposed to do.
Go give some love to my buddy Jess over at Endurance Room, he has a video up now too! Thanks for the help, guidance, and friendship Jess. You are a good dude.

Thanks Jess, and thank you for all the help :)
I have big plans for this 25, but when the 15 gets here I imagine it will fight the Askare for the every day spot
@@Tim_Keys The 15L is badass. Kind of a mix between HATKA and JÄÄKÄRI S. Definitely room for an overnight in warmer weather.

Those side pokets are perfect for when you are given a random piece of kit and told "carry that somehow". PKM belt cans come to mind.
Indeed! The 25L side pouches fit PKM cans nicely, the 15L is a lot tighter but doable.
I will make a note of this is the 15L video, but I am going to feel terrible giving these ideas to NCOs
@@Tim_Keys Well, that's one of the things it was meant to do :D The 25L can "nicely" (it's horrible of course, but such is life) carry one (well, two, but...) 200 rd PKM box in the main comparment and a 100 rd box in each side pouch.

A real and complete presentation ! Thx ! :)
I’ve attached the Kahakka 25l to the Jaakari XL. Fits well.
Excellente vidéo ! très explicite ! 😊
But let's fo it:
Olis tosi hienoa joskus ehkä jopa törmätä maailmalla. Kuitenki samanhenkinen porukka / ihmiset on sellasia minkä kans tulee hyvin toimeen ja löytyy jutun juurta. Jos joskus eksyt Suomen maalle ni saa laittaa viestiä. Ehkä ostetaan koko Savotan katalogin kaikki tavarat 😄
Toki muutenkin jos asiaa tulee, joku askarruttaa niin saa kysyä.
I have found out with Finnish on this journey, voin yrittää, mutta todennäköisesti epäonnistun
I definitely plan to come up to Finland some time, after talking to some really awesome people up there it would be a lot of fun to visit. Especially Varusteleka. I think it would be really cool to meet other people too, like a big Savotta nerd party
I will keep the videos coming and I don't plan to change my style, don't worry :)
Fantastic video, I loved it, more please.
Love the review, thanks for showing the interior as well.
This, and the webbing is quite stiff when brand new, but it loosens up in use which makes it run smoother.
Haha you mean that stuff you make out of unobtainium and unicorn tears? One time I tried to pull a loose thread end off of your webbing before I melted it, pulled too hard and nearly saw my bone. Just cut the thread people. It's stronger than you.
@@Tim_Keys Just Finnish Defence Forces mega-spec stuff :D They love... excessive material strength!
1, excellent video.
2, go buy the sleeping mat right now, it is a brilliant piece of kit.
1. Thank you friend :)
2. It's going to be a tough call after payday, but we will see
Thank you so much for showing the Askare + Kahakka system. I'm leaning toward that in MultiCam.
You just made me order this pack
Hello, Because of you i bought the Hips bag xD. It's Awesome, thank you!
I'm glad to hear that! I'm a huge fan of both. Which one did you get?
@@Tim_Keys the biggest and fix it like you on my jakaari L.
Nice! Perfect setup
I can’t tell if I want one of these or a jaakari. Thank you for your service.
EDC, day trip, or one night-Kahakka. Anything longer or in an aggressive environment- Jääkäri :)
@@Tim_Keys Thanks, man.
Looks like side pocket would make a great holster for a PS90 and the other for its volley inserts
Savotta is crazy good stuff
They make you think why cant everything be this practical and quality
Dug the nerd out... Thx
Amazing review as always, brother 🤜🔥🤛
Thanks Joe :)
17:55 indeed, it's only so much wider by 25mm than Jääkäri M. The 15L seems to be of same width as Jääkäri M (25cm)
Such an amazing looking pack! I gotta have one!
Wow, great review, cheers!
I'll keep it coming man, for folks like you. You are good people and the reason I am still doing this. Much love to you all
@@Tim_Keys Thank you!
@@Tim_Keys By the way, I just ordered the 15 one! :)
I can't wait for mine to come in, I just ordered one too. Jess over at Endurance Room says it is a great bag and fits the middle ground between the Hatka and Jääkäri S perfectly, with unique capabilities not found in either. I am way too excited to see it
@@Tim_Keys Cool, I'm looking forward to your both rewiews! :) So see ya, Rich
Great review mate, appreciate the vid so early - I think I've probably watched through it 3 times already waiting for Varusteleka stock.
I think I'm most excited about the removable shoulders! I'll be trying two mods with this:
1st) removing the shoulders and making a system to attach it to an external frame (Either my LK35 or Kilimanjaro 229 (Did this with the Jaakari S and loved it, couldn't do it with the M)).
Not us...
Now you are my kind of people :)
I really like your ideas, if you don't mind I will try these out and feature them in the future.
It's really fun over there

@@Tim_Keys I think I do! I'll make a post soon regarding keikka harness compatibility. See you there!
Lenny for the win, I will make sure the love finds it's way to it's proper home
Wooo good review!
great video. thank you for that!
Looks like a good support bag for a LBE belt system
If I understand all of the translated Finnish articles correctly, this was a major factor in design. At the same time as this pack they are redoing the entire load bearing system for the Finnish Defense Forces
Nice!! Just bought the jakkarii small, so I might wait until they release their bigger packs.
The Jääkäri S is a great pack, you can't go wrong with it. Get some padding in there like the foam mat and you're ready for most adventures.
My memory is pretty shit though so I have no problems if you remind me to get back to it
I will keep an eye on stuff with Varusteleka, the moment I know anything I will let everyone know
And seriously thank you friend, kind words keep me going
It should fit just fine. The bellows pockets are huge. I have 64 ounce steel bottle in mine no problem with room for a Silky Katana.
You sold me on this pack. I think it’s maybe going to replace my “M” to be honest.
Pretty good Review 👍🏻
Najbolja recenzija
Very detailed on the presentation. I'm liking this pack. I was wondering if the Askare would fit on the back and you showed that perfectly. Do you think they would work together while wearing them both. Askare as the lumbar pack and the Kahakka as a normal pack?
Nate
Thank you friend :)
And to answer your question, unfortunately I customized my Askare too much to test it. But Endurance Room has you covered 100% there
ua-cam.com/video/f3tVmxq2EVo/v-deo.htmlsi=4tan9K6ybEU0wt14
Let's start with the most exciting stuff...adjustable straps, great
I know right? Absolutely system they put together there
Thanks. Im getting the 15L I think.
I just ordered one yesterday, I am very excited to see it. I am hearing amazing things about it
Since the pockets on the sides are 3 liters (at least according to your demonstration), this actually may be more like a 31 liter pack.
If you are traveling over terrain or going longer distance, or with heavier weight, Jääkäri
will you be doing a review of the 15L? you do an awesome jobs covering these savotta bags
Thank you so much :) and yes I will be showing the 15L when I get it in a few days
Thanks!
Just tested now, yes they are :)
@@Tim_Keys Thanks!
Those 3 packs with a judicious selection of pouches, stuff sacks, and internal organizational pouches is really all the volume (and weight) that my 70-year-old shoulders, back, and legs are capable of supporting and transporting.*
watch out, the happy stove is laoghing at you
He's not that smart, but he's a loyal companion. I keep him along for the laughs and the great coffee he makes
Thank you in advance,
Greetings from Greece!
is this available in the US or just so early that it hasn't been released there yet? this is like the perfect bag and I need to know
Available right now from Varusteleka.com
Awesome! Can you wear the Askare Hip pack under this?
Yes, especially with pack fitted up high on back. ASKARE fits under the 15L perfectly. I like that combo best, and prefer the ASKARE mounted onto KAHAKKA 25L
Thanks for coming in to help Jess, you're a good dude.
Thank you very much for the detailed answer, this makes the decision between the 15 & 25 easier for me.
And thank you for the video too!
Thank you for the love. The videos are fun, even better is the people you meet on the journey. You guys are awesome
Great coverage on these. Very thorough. Can you attach the Kahakka 25 to the Jaakari XL?
I have seen someone do it, but I would not recommend it unless it is empty or very very lightweight
Salut
Merci
Bonne continuation
👍 Here from endurance room .....👍👍
That's a good dude over there, really good dude. I always watch his channel while cooking dinner, good energy and great information
Hahahaha
Thanks for the reply and your thoughts!
I am pretty stoked to give this pack a go.
Looking forward to seeing more content and ideas from you.
Cheers!

I know the Kahakka is the star of the show but is this a 202 in the background? There are nearly no videos about the 202... I would not mind a short video... :D :D

No worries at all man, I'm always there to help if I can and this is one area where I can definitely do some good
@@Tim_Keys I have a 202 as well. I'd love a video, too :)
Thanks for an amazing review. If you put a Hatka or an Askare on it you loose the ability to fold out the side pockets?
The Askare is my favorite Savotta item for sure, great choice there
And the soap bottles are from the brand Sonett. Biodegradable, super high quality, and not expensive. I found them through Varusteleka, they recommend them for wool care but I recommend them for everything
@@Tim_Keys 👍Many thanks for the info!🙂
A Review about Jack and your expirings about him, would be nice.
I have avoided it up to this point, just because the mountain of information already out there, but I might get to this soon
Which backpack would you choose today kahakka 25 or jaakari M?
What is your majority use going to be? City or out in nature?
More questions incoming, haha you opened up the gates
@@Tim_Keys hybrid a bit of both 😊
@@DanGibManI've got the kahakka 25, and i'd say it's a very nice hybrid for both. It has everything you need and nothing more, with ability to shrink it down to your casual schoolbag size by pulling the straps tight.
Jääkäri M is not only bit too high for city casual, it relies on you attaching stuff to the 1001 strap possibilities, which you wouldnt in city. Then theres särmä, cheaper smaller bag especially for city, which isnt too good for hiking storage but for city, why not.
ça c'est du sac ! j'aurais bien aimé le voir porté...🙂
Sorry friend, I'm still learning how to do this. I never planned on making videos ever in my life
@@Tim_Keys Je comprends bien sûr 🙂
How smooth is the back panel? Is the 500D smooth enough to avoid damaging clothing?
It is fairly smooth, I have had zero issues with clothing damage. If it was 1000D it would definitely destroy some light polyester but this 500D was a good solid choice for clothing contact.
Great emdedepth review !!!!!!!
I subscribe to your channel.
Go to reddit.com/r/Savotta and just search "laptop"
People have talked about all kinds of laptop models and sizes but I am just not a tech guy myself. My 8 year old laptop is just a glorified watching box and I run all this on my phone
😯 nice

Thanks mate , that’s great
i thought need to get extra buckles
@@blagoyyanchev8083there's no harm in buying extra buckles, and maybe extra shock cords and cord stopper, perhaps 1 of the Savotta 6L vertical pouch to attach to the front of your pack just in case you need extra space and you wanna wear the Askare as your hip belt

Decisions decisions 🤔
Does it even matter for a scrawny city boy like me? Probably going to only use it as a carry on luggage and whenever a backpack is useful.
Either way thanks for the videos!
In your case I would definitely say Kahakka, it would be good to go straight out of the package for what you are looking for

ProTip:
Attach Askare to Kahakka 25l using G-hooks. Then, you can use those split-bar female clips on your Askare to attach it to, for example, Jääkäri L 😎👍🏻
You mean as a 3 bag system? That would put you very off balance
@@Tim_Keys If you fully load them all, yes. Usually assault pack is not loaded up before leaving encampment tho
Aha I see what you mean, FDF style. It would work perfectly in that kind of practice. In the US army our assault pack was always packed and ready to GTFO into the desert
Hello a question
Will the 6 and 8 liters pouches fit the 25 liters?
Thx
As a front attachment yes they will, the Hatka is much bigger than them and that fits just perfectly
does the Savotta MPP Foam Mat fit in the back pocket?
Yes it does
I have exactly 30min before i start work 😂
Haha a lot of people play it at 1.5 or 2x speed. I heard it cuts down my long videos pretty good
So actually it’s just like a big bag but not so many pocket..
Well, yes, kind of, but also no. This thing is a bomb proof piece of modifiable engineering. But it doesn't stand out to you as something you need in your life, that's alright. There are a crazy amount of backpacks out there these days and you will know the one you need when you see it
Could you link us to that German sleeping mat? That is so thin
Absolutely :)
www.varusteleka.com/en/product/bw-folding-sleeping-mat-surplus/1062
I'll have to switch from my Jääkäri M I see.
They both have their purpose I would say, this 25L will probably be my main range bag as the Jääkäri M stays my main outdoors bag
Look at the shoulder strap padding haha, it makes the Jaagari M strap even more of a joke. Thank you for the detail review! You cover a lot more essentials details
I try my best, and yes these straps are exactly what a lot of people are looking for. I really hope they are one day released as a separate accessory
@@Tim_Keys actually I have ordered the hazard4 strap shoulder pad which a lot of Jaagari M owners says it worked perfectly with the pack
@@Tim_Keys btw, you said in the video that you had the aluminium frame in the Jaagari M pack, do you used it together with the plastic frame sheet or you removed it?
Both together, it works great. No space taken up by that thin sheet and it provides a sturdy back wall to square off the load. Added benefit of protecting you and the bag from any pokey bits you might have missed
wonderful pack, but i wish it would have a propped hip belt :)
The 25 can cinch down pretty tight to ~45 cm, with the lid overtaking the top set of side straps
I wonder if the Hill People Gear pack harness would mate up to this pack?
I appreciate you man :)
And yes you can absolutely attach them to the Hatka just fine, that's a reason why I will try my hardest to convince them to sell these as a separate accessory.
What blade was that?
Skrama 240 from Varusteleka, absolutely wonderful piece of engineering
@@Tim_Keys thanks!! I'm going to check it out!
Fun fact, it was designed by the same guy who gave us the Kahakka and a lot of other Savotta gear. He's a great dude.
What gloves are those?
Looks like Hestra Ergo Grip Tactility
Yes they are the Hestra Ergo Tactility. What I say next does not reflect Hestra, just this one model. I hear amazing things about their other models but I do not have them
I burn through these as fast as mechanix.
Don't feel weird about reminding me, I'm absolutely cool with that
You do a dandy review, dear sir!
Well thank you kindly dear stranger :)
Lets see how long you actually use it. I predict one year or less. Most people nowadays ( especially this generation) are not happy with what they have even though they're gear is fully functional and does everything it is supposed to do.
What an interesting thing to say to someone just enjoying their day.
