    I love these videos! Is it too late to join the party and send style parameters? I would love to see your take on mine: Dramatic Kibbe Body/Angelic body in Kitchener (i am tall, 180cm, and slim, not round, not super angular, but an S-curve) essences are a blend of: 20% angelic, 20% dramatic, 20% romantic, 15% ingenue, 10% classic, 10% natural, 5% gamine. I usuall focus on the first 3 (and add some classic for grounding if I need it), but I really struggle with the romantic. And angelic and romantic were totally new for me. My coloring is soft summer (maybe soft winter in 16 color season system). I have an art gallery, so I like to look elegant and sophisticated, with creative details. I want to look enchanting and mesmerizing. I also have a studio for mindful movement, and I dont want to change my clothing too much, so I prefer movable clothing with natural materials, such as cashmere and silk. And I am very sensitive, also to cold or uncomfortable clothing. My style icons are Mick Jagger in the 70s, grandmother willow from Pocahontas Disney cartoon, Zoe Kravitz, YSL, Audrey Hepburn, the Row, Florence Welch in Gucci. I am looking for a daily outfit inspiration that is versatile, makes me look elegant, mesmerizing and has some edge, like a soul.

    Surely the whole idea of an ingénue, is designed for fictional characters (film, novels, plays, etc.) rather like villain, hero, evil stepmother or wise old woman... They are archetypes, or tropes, not categories that human beings should ever aspire to be. Just shorthand, or rather a jumping off point, for creatives.

    This was so helpful! I have so much in common with Makhosi. I had my colors done by house of color and am a true autumn but really struggled on the style piece because I identify a lot with ethereal as part of my blend, but ethereal is associated with more iridescent colors. Where I landed as far as defining my style is “earth goddess” - think women in Mucha paintings. Anyhow great episode!

    I have around 55% romantic essence. I knew something about me was “sensual” but I felt very “mature” looking as a teen. In a way that actually was not appreciated by teen boys. 😂 so yes I felt like a weirdo when young but it made SO much sense as I got older.

    Hi Makoshi, thank you for telling your story. I am too an ethereal with a not so easy past. Surviving has brought me a lot of strength and some wisdom, but I did lose my softness and therefore a part of myself along the way. Or at least it's hidden behind dramatic elements so I could feel powerful. Which often looks ridiculous on my ethereal natural appearance. With healing comes getting to know myself again and learning what's me and what's the mask. And the scariest part, letting the mask go and embracing the softness. Embracing myself. And trusting this softness will make me even stronger, because it means being my authentic self and there's nothing more powerful than that. Who knew getting a new wardrobe could go this deep😂 I think 'Polished Aphrodite' from the truth is beauty website could maybe be a nice inspiration for you. It's a mix of Ethereal Classic and Romantic. Or maybe 'Alluring angel', the mix of Ethereal and Romantic, although that might be a bit much romantic for your liking. Besides ethereal I do see some classic in your face. Also you feel at home in classic neutrals, I think it suits you very well. And you have a certain elegance which I feel might be more then just the demure and elegance of the ethereal. You also told about draping or accents at the waist, a little romantic would give just that little bit of extra shape, what maybe would be missing with pure ethereal and classic.

    I’m very similar to you. Most days I just want something simple in terms of makeup. I like straight lines as they mirror my straight figure. The only “correction” to my natural lines is choosing high waisted bottoms. I have a long torso and short legs and prefer balancing the effect visually. If I’m wearing an untucked blouse, I prefer it to be crotch length simply because I have a distended lower stomach due to pcos. No amount of fashion pushing will EVER put me back into low rise jeans.😂 I’m bright spring but hate busy obscure patterns. The closest I get is large floral prints, and even they are few. I feel so much better with “plain” fabric. Silk and linens are my preferred fabric choice, but winter time I will choose soft medium weighted sweaters and knitwear. Too lightweight, I feel “exposed “ and too bulky makes me look like the Michelin Man. All in all, I think you described and visualized clearly in ten minutes what took me over ten years of messing around with to figure out for myself. I think this information will really help people shorten that journey time.

  • @SuitableMeatbag
    @SuitableMeatbag 23 дні тому

    I’m goth and I’m a bright spring 😂💀 I did my own typing using irl and via procreate. Keep in mind I’m also a digital artist so I’m familiar with colors and color theory. I personally wanted winter to give my goth look justice.😂 However, drape after drape, image after image just solidified bright spring. Natural chestnut brown hair, green starburst eyes, fair neutral warm skin tone with clarity. For me, the deciding factor between the two was that I can wear orange, both bright and burnt. Winter burgundies and blues visibility drained the life out of me😅. The final nail in the coffin was the sheer amount of compliments wearing bright spring, not on the outfit or colors, but ME. However, bright spring is really incongruent with my personal aesthetic choice, so I’ve been making do with wearing my colors and keeping my accessories in goth land. I just don’t let it over power my primary visual look. At least, that’s what I’ve been doing 🤷‍♀️

    I think what a lot of people are not understanding is that appropriation is not just wearing the styles or copying the music, etc. It is doing so with no acknowledgement whatsoever of wear it came from, whose culture it belongs to, or the important history of it. When that happens it is in fact not being passed along, but instead it's rich history and the important people who created it risk being lost. The one who appropriated it gets the credit and acknowledgement for having created something that they infact did not plus any appreciation of it's value and meaning is lost Elvis Presley whose music and moves came straight from the Black culture he was around and studied, and Bo Derek's braids in the '70s movie "10" which were copied from centuries-old African traditions from the Nok people in Nigeria, the Mende culture in Sierra Leone, and the Dan people of Ivory Coast are two perfect examples. Many non-Black people were so excited about this exotic "new" hair style and started copying the look her stylist so-called "invented". Why were Black people so upset about this at the time? Not a word was mentioned about the fact that Africa and African Americans had been wearing them for centuries, that it had special meaning within these cultures or that her stylist copied it! In the case of Elvis racist marketing and Elvis' manager insisted that he not acknowledge that he was, in fact very much inspired by the guitar playing of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, a Black gospel singer and recording artist known as the "godmother of rock 'n' roll", among other artists. As a result it was decades before she got the proper credit that she deserved as the inspiration and that it was HER style that he copied as well as Little Richard, B.B. King, and Otis Blackwell who also greatly influenced him. These two examples are appropriation because they never acknowledged where it came from and allowed people to assume they invented these things. But on the flip side there were the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and David Bowie who always acknowledged the Black blues musicians whom they idolized and patterned themselves after. That's not appropriation; that's what respecting the people and their culture enough to give them the credit that they deserve looks like.

Adding to the confusion my personal taste runs to minimal, dramatic unconstructed shapes in cashmere and medium to no contrast monochromatic earthy palette. Suede boots year round, white blonde hair.
