These colors on you are honestly a relief. The dark, neutral colors and black and various things you have worn in the past were really making you look tired and bringing you down so much. Since I never saw you in anything else, I didn’t know it was just because of the colors, but now that I see this, it makes SO MUCH sense. I am a true spring, and I had previously been wearing dusty summer colors or muted darker colors, and I wondered why I looked older and tired and gray all the time. I wasn’t willing to spend decent money on clothes because they did nothing for me. Finding my colors made my face light up the way these colors are doing for you. I call it the “magic glowing effect” and now I love to buy new clothes. Love your channel and congrats on your gorgeous color palette! This is so exciting, can’t wait to see more content on this.
Yes, it's hard to see when you're in the thick of it. I'm excited to make this slow pivot and see how I can merge my style with the BS palette. It does have a glow effect when you find your season!
Bright Spring, yaay! Now it makes sense- when you were trying out the kibbe IDs, I noticed a lot of people preferred you in the gamine outfits. If I'm remembering correctly, those outfits had bright colors. Color makes such a difference 🌈🌈
@@GabriellearrudadesignI would love to see you do a video that discusses how color played a part in the gamine vs romantic argument regarding your essence blend.
Gabi, I've been mainlining your videos lately and the major thing i have been tuning into is your lip colour. You did at least one where you had a warmer red lip and it looked so good it was enough to make me think, "Surely this couldn't look so good if she's really a cool season!" I'm excited to see whether greater contrast and different colours all have that same striking effect on you. I also really appreciate the way you emphasise style representing our selves and who we choose to be, rather than society's ideas about who we are, and I'm intrigued to see how you explore this one to make it part of your style identity.
Thank you so much! I"m glad to hear you've been enjoying the content so far. And yes, I should have been more open to the possibility of being spring.. It's funny, my foundation, mascara, and eyeliner all work for BS but I never entertained the possibility. I am excited to see how I will apply this to my style goals; I actually think they will work nicely together. ANd yes- all about style being a highly personalized and self-fulfilling journey.
The bright spring palette colors look amazing on you! I wanted to thank you for all of the great content on your channel - it's help me so much. Your 4 pillar approach is well-structured and easy to understand, especially for someone like me who's only now exploring personal style in my 50's!
Cool! I thought you were a bright winter, so I was a bit off. But always loved and love the bright colours on you. I remember an outfit with a long bright red skirt and a white top. Thought that looked great on you, and that that would also work with a bright blue or green. Enjoy and have fun!
My 9 year old understands the basics of color season theory but has a really great natural eye. She saw one of your videos when you were wearing a blue/red lip and she said, "What is wrong with her lipstick?". Like she couldn't quite figure it out. She said, "she looks good, but.... something is off." I have wondered what your season was. As someone with medium hair and very fair skin who was mistyped as a winter multiple (!) times and who just got typed as a Warm (Spring), which I think is correct given that the colors I've always known I looked the very best in consistently over decades (Orchid, bright red, electric blue, teal) are all in that palette. I'm excited for you to explore your colors and see how they work with all the other style ideas. I'm still figuring out how to make such a bright palette look sophisticated and use those with neutrals. It's an adjustment, but well worth it as wearing your colors truly is magic.
I love those colors on you! I hope we get to follow your journey in implementing these new colors into your outfits! It would be interesting to see how you incorporate your own theory into your own style. I mean, you're one of the best educational channels there is on style but we're also curious about you and your style journey ✨️
Yes, I do plan to do a video maybe for next week about what the experience was like and how I'm experiencing shopping for the season and why this will be a slow (targeted) pivot not an overhaul. Thank you so much!
I am totally here for the bright, shiny content. I was typed professionally as a Soft Summer, but then was typed in DYT by Carol Tuttle as Type 1, with colours similar to the Bright Spring palette. Complete 180 shift. I cannot imagine wearing greys and muted colours ever again. And while I feel the majority pf DYT Type 1 aligns with my style, I am using it as just one part of my toolbox. I really need some of Olga's Sparkly and Fairytale Ethereals and TiB romantic-classic-gamine lines. Kibbe vertical (minus the sharpness) for my as yet nailed-down Kibbe type. I think Dramatic, but with hefty doses of Natural essence. I love this idea of analysing my 'meh' outfits. I have taken daily photos for at least 2 years, but only ever analyse the "good" outfits.
Thank you! We all have such interesting style journeys and evolutions, it's wonderful to hear about yours an dhow you made it your own. And definitely; our meh outfits can sometimes give us some 'easy no's' that we can apply as well
I had my colour analysis done too and it was such a relief to see how my face glowed with the right shade and tone. You look amazing in these colours! I’m so excited to see how you incorporate these into your style.
Yes after having completed training to be a color analysis I have a whole new perspective on it! I'm excited to integrate it into my content moving forward
I think it's very common for bright springs to be mistyped into summer but once you put on "your" true colors they really click! And ofc in your case it probably didn't help that you look so pretty regardless :P! it makes a lot of sense of how much you shine in whites and reds though, and i think it's so funny and reassuring that this was a family you had written off. i had this experience with kibbe/essences where i wrote off classic immediately, but after going through all the families i found that classic is the one i belonged to. (I also had a similar experience when i first started thinking i was a winter and not an autumn where none of my friends agreed i had cool undertones and i'm glad I didn't listen to them lol) As always i love that your advice is so practical and actionable. I need to get some new skirts and am trying very hard not to rush out and get something to have something, and your advice has been really getting me through these Trying Times!!
Yes, i think the reality of most coloring in person is less extreme than we see as typical examples so it's easy to write a season off! I'm glad you were able to see the classic essence in you! I'm glad you've found the advice helpful, and I hope this new concept helps you narrow down your perfect skirt option!
Thank you for another practical video. You explain things so well. I eill be looking more closely at the shapes I tend to like in outfits and finishing touches as I love statement jewellery. Woe, Bright Spring for you. Can't wait to see how you incorporate the new colour palette into your style.
even though the dress is very colorful and bright that one might think they won't be noticeable in the dress, it's actually the opposite on you! now i can see you clearly together with the dress! in the past when u wore dark muted color even though in theory that should've made your face the focus, you looked dulled
I feel like many people disregard Color when diving into style systems and this is why the outfits do not work quite well or why some might feel like „I should be a Gamine because they do all this fun and quirky clothing“ while being a bright spring might have this exact vibe of fun and colourful and you can combine it beautifully with the style lines of the Romantic Nomad. Is it obvious I‘m talking about Gabby? ❤ P.s. I absolutely love your content Gabby, thank you so much for being genuine and fun 😊
Yes, I think that's why this pillar system can be helpful. It can help you begin to sort out, "ok is this the color that's dragging it down" or is it the shape that different from my standard. But yes, I'm excited to start shifting my wardrobe and I think these colors will be really beautiful in some of the romantic styles I enjoy! Thank you, it means a lot to me that you like the content🥰
These BSp colors are going to be great for you. I never quite bought that you were a cool season, but I wasn't completely positive you were warm, either. Several times now I've seen people with coloring like yours turn out to be BSp, and it does make sense because it's a winter-adjacent season. (I'll bet you got W as your most frequent guess.) Looking forward to seeing you "move in" to your season!
Yes I’m excited to see how it goes! And yes, I think sometimes the expectations or stereotypes can cloud or perceptions of the range of a season. I actually got autumn or summer the most before 😂😂
I hope you do an update on colour seasons now we have this big reveal!! I noticed you updating them on your blog already! Loving this content and the worksheets, they are super useful. Really cemented some things for me! If possible could you do a ingenue/ethereal mood board for pintrest? You had a few of these moodboard/collages of different essence vibes and I would love you to complete the series of them. (Although I don't want to pressure you - your resources are already so awesome!)
Yes, the website will be getting a whole new look and I'm going through and updating all the articles, but it'll take a little bit of time! I will add an ingenue/ethereal moodboard, it's been on my list, but I"ll do it next week!
Hello Bright Spring sister! Your clear thinking and analogies are so helpful, I love the theory and analysis. I've had huge edits since using your worksheets (thank you!!!!), using Pinterest (romanticise self), just a couple of additions and I'm enjoying my wardrobe more than ever.
Great video! Can't wait to go through my daily outfit videos and find my pillars! Btw... Bright spring looks amazing on you!!! So surprised, and can't wait for your color videos! I feel colors are something that is so difficult for me to look at objectively on myself! ❤️
I think the objective factor is incredibly important to consider. I never would have guessed BS because I was just so set on muted being a trait I see in myself. But I do plan to talk more about this and how it works with my style and how to make a pivot with this info. And thank you!
I love the bright spring colors on you I always thought you were a bright winter but I always thought the cool blues did look a little off on you!! So happy for you!!!❤
What a nice surprise! I clicked so fast after seeing the thumbnail. I thought you considered yourself an autumn. Excited to know you're a fellow Bright season. Btw, your dress gives off some gamine vibes - maybe because of busy geometry in bright colours. Looking forward to your colour/style journey and incorporating new palette. Bright colours definitely give not the same expression as soft colours and need their unique ways of combining.
Yes, I actually think the business is what's not working with this robe. But it's what I had that had a lot of BS colors in it, so I made it work. But yes, I'm excited to be a bright spring.
I adore your videos! You break everything down and make it do-able. You’re so encouraging! I was so excited to see you have a podcast now too!! Those are so nice for listening to in the car- I’m always on the hunt for style podcasts. ❤
Love this robe on you! Looks great. You’re such a good teacher. ❤ I’m suspecting that I’m a bright spring too. I think this because I’ve been following your advice and taking more outfit photos. I would have never guessed!
Love the bright colors for you 💖 Thinking you could really do Bright Winter colors as well. I'm suspecting BS to be my palette too since I realized Deep Autumn isn't working. Its been a process of elimination for me.
Yes we actually ended up testing Bright Winter vs. Bright Spring as our two "last" comparisons. BS definitely won, but we did see that I had a bit of a snow white effect that made some spring colors even appear a bit wintery. Good luck with your exploration
I did the same thing when I was realizing I was a bright spring. First thought I was a deep autumn. Then thought I was a bright winter, then realized I am a bright spring!! Best of luck on your journey !! 💗🤍💗
You look fab! (I do, however, empathize with not wanting the busyness of the print to clash with one's established style. I don't know how many times people have pushed a loud garment at me only for me to recoil in horror.)
You look amazing in those colours. And your makeup is beautiful. Constant improvement is the most important thing in style, I think. We should be more open and try new things. Even if we think it will not work.
These colors look amazing on you! For the longest time I thought I was a Bright Spring also but I recently discovered I’m actually a Soft Summer so I’m having the opposite journey from you 🙃
Wow,even in the example u did i can't see your face but I preffer in the brighter color(blue) one!! The reason why u could not beeing liking small, despite you body type, geometric prints could be your palette. Bright spring generally need biggers and brighter prints than tiny and water color like.
Yes, i definitely like the Bs effect, just need to see how to blend it with my style goals. I think prints (in my pillars) need wider visual space between the elements and larger scale. A solid background color helps too. My body type is FN ( I’m 5 ft 6) so it tracks that larger, wider prints work best
Joining the chorus: you glow! 😍 My gorgeous mum is bright spring. 😊 She, too, was very surprised. She got draped as a winter back in the 80s. Not quite as dramatic a shift, true. I had plenty of bright clothes to give her once my soft summer-ness was revealed. 😂
Omg you're a bright spring! I also had a journey to figuring out I was one, too. Very cool, and I hope you make content on it-the Bright Spring outfits I see tend to be extremely unwearable IMO lol. But the dress you have on is gorgeous!
To echo everyone in the comments: those colors look truly beautiful on you! 🌺 I have very similar coloring but have always shied away from bright colors and am thinking I may need to give them a shot.:) Also really like the pillars concept--super practical and logical. Thanks as always for the useful content.
Thank you. Have you ever considered contrast as a pillar? There is this UA-cam channel named Style Me Jenn and there are lots of content about the topic. You two are my guides in terms of my aha! fashion moments :)
Please talk us through your colour analysis. I'm so confused as I would have thought you'd be a winter with your high contrast dark hair & paler skin. I find choosing my colour season so difficult 😩
So color analysis is soo nuanced and you can't really "guess" a persons color season. The stereotypes won't help you here. I was sure I wasn't a spring... And honestly no one ever guessed spring. Now BS does border winter so some of that coolness is coming through in the colors. I plan to do a video about how I'm going to use the info and why BS was the winner (w/o showing the complete process). But, there are so many variables, it really is hard to do on your own.
@@Gabriellearrudadesign Can you talk about what prompted you to get a color analysis? I've been watching your videos and reading your blog for quite some time and (if I recall correctly) you seemed sure you were a winter.
@@engyolyonline4208 no I actually thought I was cool but also considered the summers. I actually got certified in the sci art system and doing my colors was part of the training 👍🏻
@@engyolyonline4208 oh it’s ok! I explored a couple seasons. But I felt if I was going to integrate color into my content then becoming certified in a system I respect was necessary.
Love the colors on you love the silhouette but I need some soft shapes some romance. This is a great example - I am going to analyze my outfit tonight based on these principles 🥰
Tnh even if you just adjust the make up undertones and maybe jewelry colors, it will still help with the glow, bc it so close to the face. You look great as always
You see explicitly in the pictures of some models or the Queen, or Katy Holmes, that “making colours work for any season “ does not work, they look either grey and unhealthy or yellow-green in the orangey colours 😅
Not really possible. It’s all about fabric reacting to skin with a set of very controlled drape tests. It would cost a ton to try to replicate/source the drape colors- probably more than hiring a professional
Check out the latest video where I talk about two dresses I might buy. Lines don’t connect, what type of marker or pencil would draw the item, what type of movement are they making? If there’s overlap between them, as long as you understand them it’s fine. But the recent video will clear it up 👍🏻
I do discuss this at the end of the video, it has most BS colors, it's just too busy for my persona style perferences. I think a simpler pattern or wide spaces between the print ( a more focal "background" print is one of my pillars not coming through in this piece.
@@Gabriellearrudadesign yeah maybe I weren't wording it right , I was just agreeing with you, yeah maybe a more broader pattern with less colour variations x
Spring?.. This is unexpected. I've always seen you somewhere in the Autumn category, maybe warm or soft. However, cool colours indeed looked off on you, to be honest. And I so agree with other people in the comments that minimasing the amount of black will be a bless for you and your wardrobe! When I saw you wearing black, it was giving such a heavy, gloomy impression and dragged you down a lot.
I’m very similar to you. Most days I just want something simple in terms of makeup. I like straight lines as they mirror my straight figure. The only “correction” to my natural lines is choosing high waisted bottoms. I have a long torso and short legs and prefer balancing the effect visually. If I’m wearing an untucked blouse, I prefer it to be crotch length simply because I have a distended lower stomach due to pcos. No amount of fashion pushing will EVER put me back into low rise jeans.😂 I’m bright spring but hate busy obscure patterns. The closest I get is large floral prints, and even they are few. I feel so much better with “plain” fabric. Silk and linens are my preferred fabric choice, but winter time I will choose soft medium weighted sweaters and knitwear. Too lightweight, I feel “exposed “ and too bulky makes me look like the Michelin Man. All in all, I think you described and visualized clearly in ten minutes what took me over ten years of messing around with to figure out for myself. I think this information will really help people shorten that journey time.
These colors on you are honestly a relief. The dark, neutral colors and black and various things you have worn in the past were really making you look tired and bringing you down so much. Love this robe on you! Looks great. You’re such a good teacher. ❤
I’m suspecting that I’m a bright spring too. I think this because I’ve been following your advice and taking more outfit photos. I would have never guessed!
Glad it’s been helpful!
You look amazing! 🤩 love the colors on you 🎉
Thank you so much!!
Bright Spring is awesome in you! Great video, the four legs simplified things a lot.
Happy to hear this!
You look fab! (I do, however, empathize with not wanting the busyness of the print to clash with one's established style. I don't know how many times people have pushed a loud garment at me only for me to recoil in horror.)
You look incredible in this bright outfit love the pillar idea
Thank you! Hope it helps 👍🏻
The robe looks fabulous on you 😍
Thank you!
Love your makeup, your hair and the colors on you!❤Excellent info.
Thank you so much!
You look amazing in those colours. And your makeup is beautiful.
Constant improvement is the most important thing in style, I think. We should be more open and try new things. Even if we think it will not work.
Yes, totally agree! Forward motion 👍🏻
You look so fresh and alive! Bravo!!
Thank you!
These colors look amazing on you! For the longest time I thought I was a Bright Spring also but I recently discovered I’m actually a Soft Summer so I’m having the opposite journey from you 🙃
Ha, it's truly a journey! I plan to do some content on making this pivot wardrobe wise so it might help you too!
My gorgeous mum is bright spring. 😊 She, too, was very surprised. She got draped as a winter back in the 80s. Not quite as dramatic a shift, true.
I had plenty of bright clothes to give her once my soft summer-ness was revealed. 😂
It's funny how that can happen! I'm sure she appreciated getting some of your brights!
I love this for you!
Omg you're a bright spring! I also had a journey to figuring out I was one, too. Very cool, and I hope you make content on it-the Bright Spring outfits I see tend to be extremely unwearable IMO lol. But the dress you have on is gorgeous!
It’s actually just a robe 😂 but yes I plan to share my experience doing a wardrobe pivot and talk about how I plan to use the colors currently 👍🏻
@@Gabriellearrudadesign Omg honestly a shame you can't wear it out hahaha. But that sounds amazing, can't wait!!
@@Morslatke 😂 I know!
This is so exciting, you look gorgeous !!
Thank you so much!!
To echo everyone in the comments: those colors look truly beautiful on you! 🌺 I have very similar coloring but have always shied away from bright colors and am thinking I may need to give them a shot.:) Also really like the pillars concept--super practical and logical. Thanks as always for the useful content.
You’re welcome! Good luck exploring brights- they are fun 🤗🤗
Thank you. Have you ever considered contrast as a pillar? There is this UA-cam channel named Style Me Jenn and there are lots of content about the topic. You two are my guides in terms of my aha! fashion moments :)
I would probably put contrast in the details or the color pillar depending on how you use it 👍🏻 I haven’t watched her but I’ve heard good things about
Please talk us through your colour analysis.
@@Gabriellearrudadesign Apologies. I know you said "deep and cool" I must have interpreted that as "winter".
@@engyolyonline4208 oh it’s ok! I explored a couple seasons. But I felt if I was going to integrate color into my content then becoming certified in a system I respect was necessary.
oh, mann… i have so many of your videos which are overdue for a watch! i can’t even finish this less than 10mins video! I will be backkkk!!!
Take your time, I know life is busy 🙃
Love the colors on you love the silhouette but I need some soft shapes some romance.
This is a great example - I am going to analyze my outfit tonight based on these principles 🥰
Yes totally 👍🏻👍🏻
Glowing! ✨️
Thank you!
Tnh even if you just adjust the make up undertones and maybe jewelry colors, it will still help with the glow, bc it so close to the face. You look great as always
This is BS makeup 👍🏻 but yes slowly pivoting
You see explicitly in the pictures of some models or the Queen, or Katy Holmes, that “making colours work for any season “ does not work, they look either grey and unhealthy or yellow-green in the orangey colours 😅
I agree that finding your colors is huge!
How do I self analyze my color season using the Sci-Art method?
Not really possible. It’s all about fabric reacting to skin with a set of very controlled drape tests. It would cost a ton to try to replicate/source the drape colors- probably more than hiring a professional
I'm struggling to understand the diffrence between lines and shapes. Looked at the worksheet, too. There's a lot of overlap between them, no?
Check out the latest video where I talk about two dresses I might buy. Lines don’t connect, what type of marker or pencil would draw the item, what type of movement are they making? If there’s overlap between them, as long as you understand them it’s fine. But the recent video will clear it up 👍🏻
I definitely see brightness to your skin but that robe is distracting which maybe the pattern and multiple colour groups .
@@Carrie-sgda definitely 👍🏻👍🏻
Nope, we actually nixed summer and autumn following- definitely not muted or soft.
@@Gabriellearrudadesign Wow, this is interesting. Hope you'll tell us more about your experience with this colour analysis!
@@Laurynesse yes I plan to do a video talking about it, but not showing the exact steps just the revelations we had 👍🏻
No amount of fashion pushing will EVER put me back into low rise jeans.😂
I’m bright spring but hate busy obscure patterns.
