Love your content ❤ I would love to see the essences types dressing for harmony vs juxtaposition. I love that concept, I have an ingenue dominant essence and when I dress in a more dark, alternative style, it looks intentional but interesting at the same time. I am very curious to know about the other types in your perspective. I’ve found that if I have makeup, hair and overall proportions in my predominant essence, it looks more cohesive. I would love to know some tips on how to make it work.😅😊

Yes, my take on it is a bit different than some other people in this space, but I'm excited to share it if people are interested. I'll work on adding that this month!

Gabriella, what a fantastic podcast! Your command of the language is excellent and you explain things so elegantly! I love how thoughtful and intentional you are with your words. Rose quote is perfect!!🌹
I have a power point file with all my clothes and I made a “do” and “do not” lists there. In there I write what I observed as harmonious with me and what is not.
For example, sharply tailored clothes are very disharmonious, flowy medium fabrics relaxed necklines, drapes are very harmonious, etc etc.
I will look at these lists with more thoughts after listening to you.
I would love more examples if you could. They very helpful!!

Thank you so much! That’s such a kind thing to say and I appreciate it. I’m happy to do more examples 👍🏻 and I’m so glad you’re able to see your closet with a more fine-tuned eye 👏

I really appreciate this discussion! And yes, I’d love to see you discuss harmony vs opposition.
In my personal style, I found that I liked to express a sort of “edginess” and a moody style so even though I’m technically a Bright Winter and a Soft Natural, I don’t mind when my waist doesn’t always have definition (sometimes I prefer when it’s deemphasised for impact!) and when my silhouettes lean more gamine (or constricting for my upper width, if that makes sense?). I found that I liked playing with muted tones when I’m feeling moody because looking ghastly and unapproachable is exactly what I’m trying to express!
Another thing I found that Kibbe’s width accomodations felt a little bit revealing for me, just from a comfort perspective, so I tend to be more lenient in how I apply the SN “rules.” As a result, my necklines are probably higher than what Kibbe recommends for SNs.

I've been watching so much fashion content lately but after listening to this I've realised I've been doing it quite mindlessly! Thanks for pushing me to keep putting in the work to specify my style in my own words 💖

I love your focus on making style information accessible, not just explaining style ideas but explaining different processes for making those ideas relevant to us as individuals. I have learned a lot about my style from learning my Kibbe type but I don't think I would have even identified with my Kibbe type (and therefore learned all of those things) if i had learned about it anywhere else, because the prescriptivism (which i see so much elsewhere!) would have turned me off - Kibbe's helped me understand why i like and dislike certain things, but I definitely don't use it as a 1:1 guideline.
You said you wanted to do more content on details/finishings - I would love if you had any particular advice to share about accessorizing and styling, which is i think a big part of where i have plateaued in my own personal style. I've been not having a lot of luck with clothing shopping (mostly for sizing reasons rather than style ones), so i am trying to get more into accessorizing as an alternative means of getting more wear out of my existing clothes, and i don't really know what on earth I am doing.

I'm sure I've been guilty of the prescriptivism as well, but I am trying to move towards a more holistic and personalized approach. As I learn, I try to adapt and share! I'm glad it's been helpful so far.
Yes, i think accessories and finishings is such an important detail and can have a huge impact. I plan to do a more definitive guide/video on this soon. If you're stuck have you tried referring to some of your visuals (daily outfit photos, moodboards, dream style boards) and then comparing them to your style pillars (accessories/details/textures) and coming up with a potential list of things you like in your finishings. For instance I found volume/fluffy in my hair is key, larger scale accessories with bolder shapes/florals, and blunt or narrowed shoes to be some of my finishings. And I'm currently working through my spectrum of textures- leaning natural but not matte, or shiny but not harsh. It's kind of like gathering a lot of data and trying to sort through preferences + patterns.

I'd be interested in any analytical/example video you would come up with or anything you have desire/time to share.
After some time of self-reflection I set my style goal as "my wardrobe as my support system and my self-care". I don't necessarily need to focus on self-expression or authenticity because it inevitably creeps in even if I'm doing formal outfits. Sometimes I need less of that and most of the times I don't want to share all my inner world through clothes and being an open book. I don't want to fall in oversharing pitfall so I'm cautious about it.
On the other hand I also don't like style systems pushing their categories as some sort of identity. Like "find your identity as XYZ body type/colour season" - no, thanks.
Trying to find fine line between artificial identities and authenticity oversharing.
I may sound a bit harsh but it was not intended.

I love your videos/podcasts and i think your great. However i don't think you meant anything bad by it, but "equivalent of style adhd" we shouldnt use human struggles to dramatise normality. In the same way some people say "i feel depressed" when they just mean they feel a bit sad in that moment or when people joke they have ptsd when something has made them upset/irritated/uncomfortable. All of these are very damaging . To use the term adhd in this way is damaging to the constant work so many are doing to bring awareness to the neurological difference especially when so many are ignorant to its effects and even exsistance. Adhd isnt being just impulsive it effects your everyday life and it can be quite dibilitating and can push people to take their own lives. Please keep this in mind.
Thank you for your podcasts/videos that you put so much work in to and reading my comment x

Thank you for such a thoughtful critique and I can totally understand your point and I value it! I'm sorry for using that in such a casual way and I'll definitely adjust this moving forward. I'll find a better way to phrase this that doesn't inflict harm/damage. ( i apologize in advance that I used it in the most recent episode as well, but I promise to correct it moving foward)
