    Solid walk there Des. That hill Fort seemed like such an important place for Wales. I'm always in 2 minds about the old railway lines as on one hand it serves as pathways and walking routes but on the other cuts off communities to each other. I have to say the highlight was the Bison. They looked amazing. Wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of one but really unusual on a hike. Thanks for taking us along and hope you are both doing well. Speak soon. Happy hiking as always 👍😃👍🥾🥾🥃🥃

      Hi Scott. We had a great weekend in the area! The hill fort was the highlight for me (probably the FA Cup final result was the highlight for Maria 😂). Yes, thos old railways make great footpaths. And they've struck a good balance in this area, as they've restored the line from Corwen to Llangollen, but others have been left as footpaths. Hope you are keeping well and steering clear of the midgies now it's that time of year again! 👍😁

    Anyone who wanted to sack that fort would have to have a lot of stamina to get up there and then fight. I bet it was an impressive structure in its time. I loved the old slate field dividers too, I've not seen them before. Certainly a beautiful hike Des, thanks for sharing.

    I bought one of these today (£56 from Blacks by St. Pauls in London), as I'm fed-up with expensive Photo Backpacks cooking my back and I wanted a TMP to hopefully improve that for the Summer. Afterwards I found the full feature list, and I've been looking at reviews trying to trace everything down: * AirZone LT lightweight, breathable suspended mesh carry system (I'd just call this a TMP) * Internal zipped security pocket * Zipped main opening * Side compression straps * Zipped top pocket * Sternum strap with whistle * Stretch water bottle side pockets * Secure TipGripper walking pole attachments * Front stash pocket for quick access * Rain cover * Hydration compatible - fits 3L bladder * Key clip * Light loop I did think the zips didn't look that waterproof so happy to find the rain cover. The Whistle took a little longer. Worked out where the hydration pack and its tube goes, just stuck with the Key Clip and Light Loop... hopefully soon... The 780g weight is IMHO excellent! So far I'm very happy :-) (Edit) Okay, the "Key Clip" is on a short strap inside the externally accessible pocket, at the top on the opposite end to where the zip pull will be when open... the Light loop (for a Red rear light) is at the bottom rear just above the "Raincover" logo. (The Whistle, in case anyone hasn't found it yet, is part of the plastic clip on the right side chest (sternum) strap with the blow-into hole on the top. Oh and I assume the Water Bladder - RAB make a 2l one I think may fit - goes in the large stretch-top pocket closest to your back inside the main compartment and the hose comes out the hole - with handy H2O logo - at the top right as you are wearing it? I'd just shove a water bottle in one of the exterior side pockets though, especially with any camera gear in it...)

      Many thanks for all the additional info Jon! How is it working for you as a photo pak? I'd be a bit concerned about the lack of padding? I'd already found the whistle, but wasn't aware of the light loop! 👍😁

      @@DesGreene My overall plan was to use photo cubes, but in reality just shoving a sheet of the really large bubble wrap (25mm bubbles) in the bottom/sides and job done...

    • @JonInLondon
      @JonInLondon 27 днів тому

      @@DesGreene I'm still debating a photo cube or something but for now I just use some of that very chunky bubble wrap (with about 30mm wide/10mm thick bubbles - guesstimated) as I have a couple of sturdy sheets of it. The Bag's main plusses are it's well made, very light, it doesn't cook your back, and there's nothing that complicated about it. I have a Manfrotto 3in1 photo bag you really need your brain in gear to work out which bits of Velcro to part and which zips to use to get into it in the 1 of the 3 ways you want to use. (Also two ThinkTank Glass Taxis, which are great - would be fabulous with a mesh panel - but no longer made.)

    A pleasant walk des with some pretty dramatic skies. The camera looked to be working well. What was it? And the mic too that came out alright. Great up on the edge - love where that trig is. I bet that's been a right party before now. Few people there on your trigger happy moment. Well, good going - no food at the inn but a good one none the less. All the best. Mark

      Hi Mark. Apologies for the slow reply. Lots of time taken up with other stuff at the moment! It was a great little overnight trip👍 I've started using a DJI Osmo Action 4 since my Gopro 9 died. Very happy with it so far. The mic was just a cheap £11 lavalier mic made by AGPTek. Seems to work nicely for what I need. Hope you're keeping well & catch you soon👍☺

    Great sleeping bag but too narrow if you are above average width

    • @DesGreene
      @DesGreene 28 днів тому

      Yes, I guess it might be a bit narrow across the shoulders for some. Some of the Snugpak range are better in that way, with an additional zipped panel so you can adjust the width. Many thanks for watching and sharing your own experience👍

      Hi Simon. Sorry about the slow response. Not been able to spend too much time on YT recently due to other stuff. It was a really nice walk, and I'm pleased with the mic so far. Not sure a wired mic would work for how everyone films, but seems a great solution to me for a little over a tenner! ☺ Hope you and the family are keeping well👍☺

    I’ve always gone up a different way, how do you get to this route from Bowden bridge car park?

    • @DesGreene
      @DesGreene Місяць тому

      Hi Larry. Go across the little bridge opposite the car park. Turn right along the path beside the campsite. At the next footbridge, a path leads to the left across the middle of the site. Head up there, and it heads you up around Elle Bank and eventually you'll get to a stile to the left that takes you on the ridge out to Mount Famine. Hope that helps. Cheers for watching!

      Hi Patrick. It is lovely over there, and I don't get across that side of the Peak District often enough. Curry delivery from Hathersage saved the day on the food front in the end 😁 I ate in the van, but the kind landlord offered to get me a plate if I'd wanted to eat in the pub!
