Uwchmynydd to Aberdaron ¦ North Wales Walk
In this video we take you on a circular walk starting from Uwchmynydd at the tip of the Llyn Peninsular in North Wales. We take in some wonderful views along the Wales Coastal Path, before arriving at Aberdaron. From there, quiet country lanes complete the circuit back to Uwchmynydd. Overall, the walk is around 7.5 miles. The paths were all in good condition, but you may need a head for heights on some sections!

The walk is best started and finished in Foolow, and is a gentle circuit of around six miles. The onl...

The route takes us past The Sportsman pub, before turning right up the Snake Path. Just as you enter the open moorland of Middle Moor, look out for a faint track back to your left. This drops us down to Lit...

The village is an easy stroll away, and there are many walks direct from the site. We wandered round the deer park and up to the rather grand Chirk Castle, and also had an interesting walk along the Llangollen Canal through C...

Great review Des, I've just got the same bag looking to give it a test on this week its gunna get down to -3°c
Do you call it Buxsworth or the original Bugsworth . The snobby locals changed its name . The basin was filled with so many derelict wooden barges you could cross from side to side in the sixties .😂
Wow, beautiful out there! 😊 Indeed the end of the world! Start swimming to America! 😂 Binoculars might be a good thing to spot more birds. Have a great day! Kaat
Loved the coastal history on this one Des. I think the Minerals teeny harbour had steps down to them like the Lobster catching bay. That was nice to see and pass through. These coastal hikes have some special zones and vibes to them. I could have sworn that church was early Norman. But 12th C - pretty cool. All the best. Mark
late to the party, I know Des but a super lovely day. No doubting the views or Marie's stoicness. She did well - see you back there. Mark
Good spot that site
Stunning coastal views Des... Hope you are well!
Great walk and those coastal views were ace. Nice distance done as well. I have no real point of reference but it sounds like your Welsh pronunciation is spot on. Seeing seals is always a joy. Amazing animals and so inquisitive at times. The bays would be the perfect place to don the wetsuit and snorkel and see what it about and maybe a seal would say hello. Fantastic spots. Great stuff as always sir. Keep at it and speak soon 👍😃👍🥾🥾🥃🥃🥃🥃
Hi Scott. It's a beautiful corner of Wales. Not ventured down there for years. I'm sure it's pretty bleak if the weather doesn't play ball though ☺ It was a treat to watch the seals, and the water looked pretty clear if you did fancy snorkelling. Hope you're keeping well. Catch you soon! 👍☺
@DesGreene I think alot of coastal places can be on the bleak side during the harsh winter months but the views are always changing. I do like a coastal plod. I keep saying I'm gonna do a bit of the snorkeling and this year the weather was just too inconsistent so def next year and it's getting more and more popular here on the west coast of Scotland. The seals would be a dream to swim with for sure. We live on an island and just don't appreciate at times what we have and what is out there... above and below the water. Speak soon 👍😃👍🏊♂️🤿🥾🥾🥃🥃
I guess across that body of water one would find Ireland? You miss Ireland your next stop would be me!! LOL Sure is a spectacular area!
Hi Bruce. Yes, next stop Wexford on the southern tip of Ireland and then you 👍☺ Catch you soon!
Good to see you. We are off to Edinburgh tomorrow but it looks like we have the same colour palette as you LOL. Nice walk and of course the obligatory beer LOL Take care and stay safe.
Hi David. Edinburgh? That's a bit more populated than your usual haunts! Have fun and hope the weather stays good👍
@@DesGreene Not looking forward to the city but we are meeting with friends.
Nice hike DG 👍 And in Maria's defence, she has been at 2600m in the Sierra Nevada. (can't believe they've highlighted defence!). Looking at the map it seems fairly straight-forward, ironically we were at Llyn Trawsfynydd only a little while before you. A.T.B 👌
Hi. Yes it is a pretty straightforward walk, but the last stretch looked a bit to much for how her knees were feeling on the day ☺ Anyway, good excuse for a return visit and Maria can keep the kettle company in the van!
To be honest, Des, it did look a big up. Not one to hike with knees playing up, but stunning views. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Chris. It was beautiful up there, but knowing how quick the weather can change, it wasn't a good idea to leave her and carry on. Anyway, as Arnie said...I'll be back! ☺
Brilliant location in North Wales 🏴🏔️ Des and a tasty summit too ! Definitely the right call all that go up come down together (reminds me of when lizza Skye and I attempted Cadair Idris a few years ago) some times you just don’t feel it ! Stunning day mind Very best wishes Simon ! 🤠👍🍻
Hi Simon. It was a lovely day, but the weather can change so quickly and I'd probably have been gone 1.5 hours if I'd carried on. Not a good idea. Anyway, it will still be there next time. Hope you and the family are all well👍☺
@@DesGreene all well thanks Des have a great weekend when it arrives mate 🤠👍 Simon
A nice day for it Des. Stunning views up there. Shame Marie couldn’t go on but like you say. There is always another day. The beer looked good so a great end to the walk. Take care both. Cheers Watto & Kim. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Hi you two! Yes, still a lovely day up there and it was best to stick together. Good enough excuse for me to return as well! All the best👍👍
Got yourself a beauty of a day in Wales for sure!! One stunning of an area!
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing walking tour with us. Healthy and success always for you...
Ah guys croeso 😃🏴 Prynhawn da 👋 This whole area is stunning, you can see for miles. Looked a nice clear but windy day, shame about Marias legs, good that you didn't leave her on her own there Des hehe 😃 Bet you both enjoyed that beer ! Ardderchog ! ~ Anna 👍
@FXWalesAnnaAlf P'nawn da Anna! Yes, such a beautiful area, and very Welsh speaking too! If I'd carried on, it would probably have been an hour and a half before I got back to Maria. Even I'm not that cruel 😅 Oh well, great excuse for another visit!
You did well on the Welsh pronounciation too 😃👍🏴@@DesGreene
I hate leaving folk behind but I think heading down together was the best choice. Love the views. Was that Spanish at the start? LOL We are heading for North Wales at the end of the year.
@DesmondsDonders That was me attempting my best Welsh David. Probably sounds more like Spanish 😅 Yes, it would have been an hour and a half before I got back to her. Not a good idea when the weather could change quickly. So I'll make a solo attempt on our next visit 🙂
Vielen Dank für deinen tollen Beitrag 👍 wünschen dir einen schönen Mittwochabend ❤ danke für gegenseitige Unterstützung 🔔 Siggi & Anne👍
Nice walk Des. So many beautiful views to captivate you both 👍Graeme
Cheers...bet you loved that free pint
@@atrampinthehills.841 The free ones always taste better for some reason 🙂
Spent my childhood round there loved it, I lived at Eldon lane end farm in the 60's
maybe fade out yr funky soundtrack instead of cutting it rather abruptly. imho
Cheers for the feedback👍
just reading that HB was a georgian / victorian / C20th textile town. not just wool as you might expect but also cotton and silk. explains why there are some expensive looking buildings in the town with interesting architecture. great to see a place all made out of the same kind of mellow stone. jerusalem, strangely, is another place where all the buildings are made of the same kind of stone
Yes, there were some wonderful buildings there. It was obviously a very wealthy place at one time. Seems to be thriving in a different way now as well.
mai-thuhm-royd. apparently
Thank you! I will still mess it up if you point a camera at me 😁
One of them simple days Des that hits the right spot every time - a lovely walk about. I don't reckon the mill owners and walkers would ever imagine the town would turn out that way. Fantastic. Mark
Hi both, for some reason I didn't get a notification on this video and didn't on your previous one either.. 😯 Hebden Bridge is so beautiful, and it looked like you both had a really lovely time. Beautiful canal to walk along seeing the various boats. The town centre is gorgeous, loved that unicyclist and looked like you found a voice plane for a drink 😃 ~ Anna 👍
👍👍
Thats an interesting area. Thanks for the tour.
Ha ha ha! It is pronounced My-Thom-Royd. My great -grandfather came from Mythomroyd. Coincidentally we did that very same walk to HB along the cut from Mytholmroyd a couple of weeks back. Of all my local walking areas, Calderdale is definitely my favourite. If you go again, there is a community run pub called the Robin Hood a bit higher up Cragg Vale which is excellent. A very interesting watch Des. Nice to see your take on somewhere quite local.
every review on YT about this sleeping bag has been positive , after watching your review I made the decision to buy one. I live in the Howgill fells in Cumbria and it gets seriously cold here so this bag should be great for me on my night bivvy adventures with my dog. The price was 143 from Go Outdoors .
How is it mate ?
great seeing this lovely town Des. Love the tour round. Thanks for taking us with you.
Well, I never did know the difference until now. Another great walk, Des. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend.
Hi there. Good to see you both out and about again. Not had the chance to visit Hebden Bridge, it looks like a great place to look around. One for the list! All the best 👍😀
Those walking paths along these canals are really amazing!! Really can't imagine living in one fulltime, let alone trying to steer it! lol A wonderful stroll!
Hi sir. That looked a grand day out. I do like canal and I feel people just don't get how important they were and are at times. That market looked great...and the sun came out looks like an actual Summers day lol. We are getting wind and lots of rain 🤦♂️🤬. I'm jealous of that sun lol. Nice video. Hope your keeping well. Happy hiking as always 👍😃👍🥾🥾🥃🥃
Beautiful area
Hi Des nice to see you out and about. I thought you must be frying in Spain. take care and stay safe.
Vielen Dank für den tollen Beitrag 👍 wünschen eine schöne Woche❤ danke für gegenseitige Unterstützung 🔔 Siggi & Anne 👍
Beautiful site, nice people, great access to robin hoods bay. The beach beyond boggle hole to the south is excellent, and far enough away from the town to deter the lazy hordes of amateur palaeontologists smashing up the boulders loosened from the unconsolidated earth by erosion.😂❤
Thanks for this video. I have just bought a second one. It might sound ridiculous to some but in these uncertain times I’ve put kit together to facilitate my family to leave our urban area on foot if need be and be able to hopefully escape any madness… I think the term is “bugging out”. I have a Bivvy each and all the rest. I enjoy camping and being outdoors so it’s a hobby and slowly I’m building up a kit that would hopefully see us tough out hard times. I think the basha is a light weight and versatile shelter that packs down tight. A bit of cordage and you’re good to go. Cheers mate
Hi guys somehow missed this one from 3 weeks ago . That looked like a lovely quiet campsite. Stunning area where you walked work beautiful views all around, glad that gate wasn't locked ! That was great, even with the noisy cows 😃👍~ Anna
We were there less than 2 weeks ago, nice place and a lovely drive to it, bus stop opposite the pub into whitby.. the ehu was less than 10 ft from us with water taps a little further. We'd definitely go back
I”m thinking about buying one of those but I’m not sure which size to go for, I’m 6’4ft
Based on your review, I'm now a happy Grisport Avenger owner. Straight out the box they're comfortable. I'm currently looking at a pair of lighter Grisport boots for summer hiking and keeping the Avengers for wetter summer days and autumn, winter walking.
I really enjoyed that des end to end. There were some nice trails, walls, interactions with sheep farmers, plaque history and of course a few pints. It was nice to join you both. Mark
such a shame there isnt a loo on that CL, it always puts us off ... great vid though
Yes, not ideal, but we do like these little basic sites for a night or two. Thanks very much for watching!👍
great vid
Many thanks!👍
Looks so excellent! Glad to be here again!
Many thanks for watching! It's a lovely area to hike👍
Always a great view from Higger Tor and Stanage Edge. Nice hike Des, thanks for sharing. Love the Winnie The Pooh song exert.
Hi Chris. I should get over that side of the Peak District a bit more often. Lovely over there! Maria gave me her best withering "stupid bear!" look for the song 😂
