😎 Great staff ,looking forward to review !!! Very beautiful
Cheers! All the best & many thanks for watching👍
Noswaith dda Des this all looked great, the place you camped was lovely and the sunset was beautiful. We love our tarp so much as we can use it in so many different ways. Couldn't watch much of this as we are out camping ourselves but enough to count as a view 🙂and leaving a like . How you're both OK👍 ~ Anna
Hi Anna & Alf! Hope your camp is going well and not too much rain! There's been quite a lot up here this week!
It was great to be out wild camping again, I really enjoyed it. The tent is made by DD, and is the same material as their tarps. Not much room, but a nice light tent!
Cheers for watching! Hwyl fawr👍😊
What a great area to do some wild camping. Bill would love that. Good you got your camper van not to far off so you didn’t have to pack in any cooking equipment. Great sunset. That view off the cliff must be something without the fog.
It was a great little overnighter up there, and I had another night just chilling out in the van the following day 😁 I did carry a stove and some food just in case, but wasn't really hungry, and it was nice to just enjoy the sunset.
Many thanks for watching! All the best and catch you soon👍😊
I was outta puff just watching and listening to yer.
Nice camp, nice to have you back out.!
Ha ha, I was blowing a bit! 😁 I've only ever descended that way before, so I'd forgotten what a climb it is! All the best & cheers for watching👍
Great to see you out in the wild. We have had some great rain storms too.
Cheers David! It was great to be back out on a wild camp. Looks like I chose a good window in the weather, as we've had plenty of rain since as well!
Wonderful place to pitch Des, and what a thrill to see that owl!👍👍
Hi Anthony. It was a great little camp and always a treat to see a short eared owl. Not great footage, but nice to get at least something!
Hope you are keeping well! ATB👍
Good stuff Des and what a view of the shortie. I wonder if that is a breeding bird? It's been many a year since I last visited Black Chew Head. I recall picking up a couple of flints a bit further north at a location called Red Ratcher too. Bye for now, Chris
Hi Chris. It was fantastic to see the shortie, even if the gopro footage wasn't up to much! 😂 I only had that one sighting, but I'd imagine there are breeding pairs in the area. Perfect habitat for them (aside from their usual problems! 🙁)
I seem to remember you mention this area being good for flints when I did a Black Hill video a few years back. I think I know where you mean, down near where the Pennine Way crosses Crowden Brook?
Cheers for watching! Catch you soon👍
@@DesGreene That's the spot Des. 👍
Wow very fantastic video thanks for Good sharing stay blessed stay tuned 👍👍
Thanks for watching! Best wishes to you👍😊
Hello, dearest Des! Such an amazing overnight experience, my friend! Never did in my life....
Yesterday a big storm in Milan too after days and day of superhot temperatures! A tropical weather in Europe! HUGS and all the best, my dear friend! Renata
Hello Renata! It is amazing just being out on your own in the middle of nowhere! You should give it a try 😁
We are over in Spain next week, so I hope the storms in mainland Europe are over! All the best & catch you soon👍😊
Hi Des, I must admit I've been looking forward to watching this one having myself walked from Crowden to Laddow Rocks recently. You sure had a beautiful evening when you arrived and got some great shots of the sun setting. When I was up there I have to say I was really blown away by that view back down towards Longdendale from Laddow Rocks and you captured plenty of good shots of that here. All the best 👍
That view back towards Bleaklow is something special isn't it? I've never been up there at that time in the evening though, so the light was picking out Wildboar Clough and Torside Clough beautifully!
Many thanks for watching, as usual! Have a great week👍😊
nice one Des..I have not been out for a wildcamp for over a year....i need to get out for a camp after watching this, maybe next week..Cheers mate for relighting my fire
You're welcome sir! 😁 I'll look forward to the video! I really enjoyed this one, especially as I was travelling pretty light. I've only ever walked down that way, so I'd forgotten what a climb it is! 😂
There are some lovely ferns in the area, even with the lack of rain. I'll trying sending you some of ours...the yard is a swamp and I can already see where some of my string beans have been flooded right out of their beds. Pretty gorgeous evening that's for sure. Regular morning fog...lots of that here...and the strikes too. A marvelous couple of day! Bruce and Otis
Hi Bruce & Otis! Yes, the ferns look lovely but not good to walk through as the ticks love 'em! 😁 We've had a fair bit of rain since, so we're OK, but thanks for the kind offer!👍😂
Hope all is good with you (apart from your beans!) See you both soon👍😊
Looked like a beautiful climb up Des, great visibility in all directions...........looked a decent enough pitch. Yes I seen the ''bog-owl'' (as we call them over here) quite clearly, great stuff. Bit of a stark contrast from the day before when you peeped out of the tent.............however a very pleasant end to that descent.....nice camp and hike Des.....ATB.........Stu....👍👍
Hu Stu. It was a cracking little overnighter, and always a treat to see a shortie (I do like that bog owl nickname! 😁) Sunrise was a bit of non event, but still very pleasant coming down as the mist cleared.
All the best and take care 👍👍
Lovely Des. Got to be in the top 3 Peak District views from there. Great location for a wild camp. I must add that to my list. Hope you are well?
Hi Anthony. It was a great little spot, but surprisingly difficult to find a flat pitch that would hold a peg!
Great to hear from you, hope all is well with you too👍👍
That good old downpour really greened it up as well, made it look great no matter which way you looked. Great view from where you eventually pitched and it looked like you were the only person for miles, so real nice to enjoy the setting sun. The morning looked more traditional UK summer weather but even with the mist, it still did look very scenic walking back. Cheers Alan
Hi Alan. Yes, definitely a typical morning for that part of the Peak District, but at least it wasn't raining! Just felt great to be out on a wild camp again after so long!
Cheers for watching and catch you soon👍🙂
That was a fun outing. I think the sleeping on the ground days are over for me LOL!!!
It was a great little overnighter, and it didn't rain for a change! 😁 I'm not bad sleeping on the ground still, but that weight doesn't get any easier to carry! All the best & catch you soon👍😊
Hey des 😊 looks a great location for a wild camp, nice evening and good to see you out. Nice that you had it to yourself that evening and didn’t bump into anyone till heading down.
Hi Yasmin. Yes, considering it was the Pennine Way, and also part of a popular circular route, surprised I only saw one person. I pitched a good 100m off the path though, so definitely little chance of anyone finding me there! 😁
Hope all is well with you! All the best & catch you soon👍
Beautiful spot for camping. Peaceful place
It was a lovely place to spend the night! Many thanks for watching! All the best👍😊
Nice one. That view from Laddow down the valley and over to Bleaklow is in my top three list. Superb.
I'd never seen it at that time of day before, but you're right! Difficult to see on the Gopro footage, but the late sun was picking out Wilboar Clough and Torside Clough really nicely.
Cheers for watching! All the best👍
Looked like a fantastic place to pitch, great video ... really enjoyed it 👍
Glad you enjoyed it, Stuart! All the best👍
I did combs vally camp site and did combs moss, finished off with hot roast beef butty and 3 pints in the Bee Hive, best day and night in a long time.
Ah nice one! We've not been to Combs campsite since last winter, so overdue for a visit. Lovely area, and Combs Moss is a brilliant hike! All the best and thanks very much for watching👍
crackin video des,not to far from me so definatly on my to do list along with the langstrath valley n blackmoss pot.
Sorry for the slow response, been away for a few days. It is a beautiful area the Peak District, all that stretch up over Laddow Rocks and around to Black Hill.
There's still so much of Cumbria I've yet to see, and Langstrath Valley would be on my list too👍
Many thanks for watching!👍👍
So, good to see you back out with your pack on your back Des and camping. It's such an awesome place to camp and hike into. Truly impressive - some great light and conditions. A full view bro and smiles at the short eared owl. Yeah, I saw it - lovely! Could do without the planes though eh? Well, I could hear the joy in your voice on the way back down after a well decent camp. You won't wait so long next time. Well, good going. All the best. Mark
Hi Mark. A shortie is always a real treat to see! Glad I caught just a fleeting glimpse with the Gopro 😁 The aircraft noise is the only down side with the Peak District, but those views back down the valley in the early evening light certainly make up for it!
Hopefully I won't leave it so long until the next wild camp! All the best & cheers for watching👍😊
@@DesGreene Yeah, they're fantastic birds des. Got them up here in the Radnor Forest. I'm sure it's not all aircraft - as you say great views. See you out there for the next camp.
Looked like you enjoyed that one mate. Looked perfect!!
No one about and a beautiful sunset to boot! And that Shortie was wonderful
Fantastic camp out Des👍👍👍
Hi Dave. It was great to be back out, and wild camping always delivers a bonus like that shortie, a nice sunset or even waking up and it's not raining! 😂 All three can't be too bad👍
@@DesGreene 😃
Excellent 😊 Good to see you out on a camp Des 🏕️
Cheers Rachel! Aside from van camping, it's been a while!👍😁
A lovely night to be out in the tent Des 😊
It was Miriam! Especially good since I've not been out in the tent for a while. I'll definitely have to try and get out on more wild camps. Cheers for watching & see you soon👍😊
I forgot to comment on this one. Looked like a great camp and amazing views. I've not actually walked around that area before so I might give it a try. I'll perhaps find a tent campsite nearby. How are you getting on with the DD tent? Do you like it? Thanks Des. ATB, Terry.
Hi Terry. The Crowden Camping and Caravan Club site is just at the bottom of this walk, so perfectly placed. They seem to keep space for small tents as it's on the Pennine Way.
I love the Dd Tarp Tent for the milder months. Tiny inside, but as an old fart I appreciate the light weight! 🙂
I'm not far off being an old fart myself, so lightweight sounds good! I don't think I'd fit in the tarp tent though.... I might have to look at their pyramid XL or something. I might give that campsite a go. Cheers Des.
excellent and well done 👍🙏💯
Many many thanks Othmar! Hope all is well with you👍😊
Very nice 🎉🔔👍🏃🚶🌹
Thank you 👍 All the best👍😊
great vid
Many thanks!👍
Hi Des 🙋♂️ !! Thanks for this, an excellent wild camp ⛺️🚶🏽♂️👍 !! Great evening views and sunset 👀 🌅 !! The tent performed well. Lovely to see the morning mist up in the hills, thanks again, cheers, Don 👋
You're welcome, Don! Had a great time. Lovely sunset, and at least the mist in the morning was atmospheric in place of a sunrise 😅
All the best and see you soon!
Can’t beat an overnight camp ⛺️ nice pitch as you sea is those is the life 🤠🙏🏼
How heavy is your tarp tent ⛺️ Des? Looks a grader alternative to a Bivvi for the longer nights ego come Matt👍
All the best to you and Maria 🙏🏼🤠
Simon
Hi Simon. Can't remember exactly but about 800g. You are about right though, it is like a bivvy with just a little more space! All the best and see you soon👍🙂
Great to see the tent out and that sunset looked amazing. The owl was a cracking spot. I have to admit I missed the train shot ahahahah but that camp looked brilliant. Always worth packing a few things and throwing the backpack on and just going for it. Have you done the Penine Way? Looking forward to your next wild camp. Brilliant as always sir Speak soon 👍😃👍🥾🥾🎒⛰️⛺️
Hi Scott. Yea, no train shot on a wild camp! Sacrilege! 😁 But it was only £9 per night on the site with my old fart's discount, so I booked 2 nights and just left it there. Had a great little wild camp then a lazy day on sit e followed by another brilliant hike!
I've done several sections of the Pennine Way as it starts near us but never attempted the full thing.
Hope all is well with you! We are baking in Spain for a week. Just enjoying a cool beer or two👍😎🍺
Nice little trip out Des - lovely sunset 😊
Were you wearing concrete boots? They sure sound heavy 😅
Hi Karl. It was a cracking little overnighter! Hmm, those boots have felt a bit leaden lately, but I was putting it down to age!😅
This is so amazing... Thank you so much for taking me there. 🦇 🎥❤👍🏻
It was a wonderful camp! Many thanks for joining me👍🙂
That way up to Laddow Rocks is a very long up. I remember when I did it first time it took it out of me. But the hike really rewards you with the views. Great wildcamp Des. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Chris. I've only ever dropped down that way before, but remember thinking about people coming up "rather you than me!"😂 Good workout though, and I really enjoyed being back out on a wild camp again!
Cheers for watching and see you soon👍🙂
@DesGreene absolutely. That Horseshoe is nice, but not with a full pack.
@@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling Probably wouldn't have been too bad with a camp half way, but I was saving myself for Wildboar Clough the next day 😅
Great to watch a wild camp from you Des and how wonderful to see the owl I haven’t seen one for years.
If you would like some company on another camp please give me a shout.
ATB 🍻
Cheers Dave! It was great to be out on one after so long. Really enjoyed it!
Yes, we'll definitely have to get out on one some time. Maybe meet up at Edale or something? You'll probably walk me into the ground though! 👍😂
@@DesGreene Des I don’t go walking that often but when I do I do too much and wear myself out😂.
I have just got back from 9 days on the Cambrian way with my son in law but meet-up in Edale would be a good idea.
I do need a rest from hiking for a short while though. 👍
