It is great to see how you do what you do, Des, from the rough sketch to the painting. I'm really enjoying the pictures and the process. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers Chris! You should give it a go...very relaxing👍☺
@DesGreene I can draw and paint like a 4 year old I'm afraid Des.
Congratulations on your idea. The secret to happiness is doing what you love and striving to get it. Go ahead, things will get better for you, I wish you luck. You have my full support ❤✍🌷🌷🌷
Thanks for watching! All the best to you👍☺
So beautiful lovely relaxing place
It really is a lovely little place! Many thanks for watching👍☺
Very nice work, Des! A talent I wish I had. Great stuff!! Bruce and Otis
Very kind of you, Bruce! Have a great weekend👍☺
🌞 Beautiful sketches! Love the casual vibe. 😊
Thanks! Yes it's quite relaxing to just work quickly and not get too stressed out over it all👍 I'm really enjoying getting back into sketching!
Very interesting video. Nice sharing my friend! I wish you a great time 🦇 👍
Thank you very much! Best wishes to you also👍👍
Great location and loved the sketching,
Hi David. It's a lovely little harbour. A place we keep going back to, but first time with a sketch pad!👍😁
Oh, Des! You really impressed me! I didn't know you have such a talent, my friend! Bravissimo!
And the location is so nice and inspiring! Hugs and ...keep up the good work! My huge like! Renata
Not exactly up there with the Italian masters, Renata! 😁 But great fun and very relaxing! Many thanks for watching & have a great weekend👍☺
@@DesGreene 😂You're great, Des!! Happy Sunday!! Ciao!
Very talented Des. They look great 👍
Very kind of you! 👍☺
Nice relaxing way to spend the day Des and Maria! :) The Port is a pretty area and I can see it's quite inspiring for sketching and water colors. I have no training, and so far, no skill at drawing or painting. I like that you're doing a quick and free style- you are very talented! Both before and after look great to me- and it's really nice to see where you're getting your inspiration. I would love to be able to draw wildflowers...a new hobby that will have to wait until after I'm retired... :) Cheers, Jen
Thanks Jennifer! I've not tried flowers since biology class at school...might have to give that a try again! It was a great place to sketch. I could have spent a lot more time there, but it is nice to just grab a few quick and loose sketches and move on.
I'll look forward to seeing your flower sketches on Instagram some day👍☺
Ay up me duck.
Didn't know you had such talent me owd. Lovely sketch 🙂👍
Cheers Sog! Not sure about the talent, but I'm enjoying getting back into it👍☺
👍👀👍Excellent video my friend, really like it🦇👍👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!👍☺
I’ll have to check out his channel. I’m not much of an artist, but I’d love to become one. Bill too. What a great area to find inspiration. You work is so good. I loved how they came out once you added the watercolor. Enjoyed.
Thanks very much! That Tobysketchloose channel has some really good beginner tutorials. It really encourages you to not worry about it and just have fun!
All the best & see you both soon👍☺
Great work, Des! I've really been getting into art recently, so it's great to see your process on film. I also loved your positive attitude!
Thanks Keith! It must be getting on for twenty years since I did any sketching, so it's been fun getting back into it. I'll keep an eye out for your progress on Instagram!👍☺
@@DesGreene Thanks Des!
I have 3 videos like that, not sure if I am going to upload and still not, despite not having a normal Sunday upload this week. To be fiat that was a real idyllic spot after breakfast and I am no artist at all but would love to be one. With the added watercolour it was very good to be honest, as were the rest, I think you have a hidden artist in there somewhere! Cheers Alan
Cheers Alan! Yes, it's always a debate whether to include something new on the channel, or stick to hiking and camping stuff. Anyway, I'm having fun getting back into sketching, so thought I'd see how it went down👍😁
@@DesGreene - my hotel and castle reviews are by far my biggest viewed videos I do. I think not many people are interested in an old man huffing and puffing us a Fell to be fair :o)
Thats a pretty area but WOW, you have a great talent in your sketching. I feel good when I can draw a tik tac toe game.
Thank you very much! It is a pretty area to sit and sketch. It's something I'm enjoying getting back into👍☺
Des this is brilliant mate. First what a lovely location. And your sketches / painting is awesome. A real talent indeed. Great to see the process and to see your passion for it come through.
I might even commission a painting from you myself. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Hi Watto. That little harbour is a perfect sketching location! Loads to look at and plenty of benches 😁 I've really enjoyed getting back into painting. It's very relaxing, as long as you don't fret over it too much. Not sure I'm quite ready for commissions yet though! 😁
Some good results there des. I always enjoy your instagram sketches and it's good to see them appearing here now. I imagine it's a real meditation and tonic. All the best. Mark
Thanks Mark! I'll probably keep them coming on Instagram, but not sure if I'll do any more videos👍☺
@@DesGreene A pleasure des. I kind of know why - it's not the place for it. Me? They've banned me off insta for making a nice comment. It was longer than usual and was deemed but their machine to breach community guidelines. Madness!
@@WyeExplorer That's a bummer. Is it just temporary?
@@DesGreene It is a crime almost des. The articles I've read said it's temporary.
🥰awesome friend! 💯 Thanks for sharing ❤🥰✨ hope you have a wonderful day🥎🎟
Thank you for watching! You too!👍☺
Hi Des / Maria I don't know how I missed this one you uploaded 2 weeks ago 😯We love Amlwch and its harbour area and I didn't know that you enjoyed art. You are SO good, the sketches are FANTASTIC ! Really impressive, we don't have any social media so I can't look at your instagram but Des you're really good, you should do tutorials on UA-cam 😃👍~ Anna
Sorry for the slow reply Anna. We've been away for two weeks. Hope you are both keeping well.
We love Amlwch too, and I'm sure we'll be back there! 😁 I've only just started sketching again. Really enjoying it, but not sure I'm ready for tutorials just yet! 😁
I'm enjoying your artwork Des. I've always liked the idea of being an artist. My pa was good as is my daughter so it must've bypassed me. 😭😉. Bye for now, Chris
Hi Chris. I reckon I probably learnt more from my Tech Drawing teacher than my Art teach at school! 😂 Anyway, it"s another fun way to enjoy the outdoors. I used to fancy myself as a bird artist, but that was way more difficult than buildings and boats! 😁
@DesGreene I dabbled in birds once too. They always looked cross-eyed. 😄
@@ChrisJB😂 The people I draw would keep an optician busy!
Looks lovely Des...you have a great talent there, looks so relaxing, i am determined to try this...thanks for inspiring me...i commented earlier but half of my comments seem to be disappearing....all very strange.
Is UA-cam doing that trick again? 😟 It is a great way to relax...so long as you don't get too stressed out by it. That's the fun part of this loose sketching technique I'm trying to get to grips with.
I'll look forward to seeing your work when you give it a go👍
Love it that you said that there were a few errors but that it was yours and for you. Dead right mate.
So, if I tried that it would take me hours just to get the initial sketch right. That first boat sketch as an example is beautiful. How long did it take you to just pen that initially?
Seriously good stuff Des. Loved this one mate
Hi Dave. That's the beauty of this "loose" technique. The initial sketch only needs to take 10 minutes or so. A bit of knowledge of perspective helps, but it still goes haywire at times! 😁 Have a look at some of the beginner tutorials on that Tobysketchloose channel I mentioned. He explains really well how to just reduce every scene to simple shapes that anyone can draw. Takes all the stress out of it!
Cheers for watching & for the encouragement!👍☺
@@DesGreene will do Des. Looks great. - seriously 👍👍👍
Wow really nice sketches Des ... they really capture the atmosphere of the places. Strangely, I was just saying last week how I might get a sketch book as I fancy having a go at sketching ... then a couple of days later you put this video live! Can you recommend a particular book and pens at all? ATB, Terry.
Thanks Terry! I used to do a bit of sketching and some acrylic painting many years ago, so enjoying getting back into it. Those Sakura Pigma fineliner pens I linked to in the description have been very good, and pretty cheap. I'm also starting to try a Lamy Al-star fountain pen. Whatever you use obviously needs to be waterproof ink if you want to add watercolour.
Best of luck with it!👍
Cheers Des - sorry I missed those links. (PS Top of the league!) @@DesGreene
Forgot to reply about the paper...At the moment I'm mainly using A5 ring bound sketch books like Derwent etc as they are fairly cheap. They can't take a lot of water though, so proper cold pressed watercolour paper would be better. I did find some 180gsm sketch pads in a pound shop which were excellent for a £1 each too, so keep an eye out for bargains as they had all gone when I went back for more! 😁
@@walkandcamp Yes! Fantastic after the slow start we had!
@@DesGreene cheers Des
