UPDATE No22 END TO END LAYOUT
After building the new platforms in No21 its time to do the station building with its platform and which I have shown many times in past videos and said it needs to be altered so in this video I do just that and as with all Metcalfe kits if you need to make it different than the standard kit you can do so but in this case its more to make it more standard.

This was so near to me that it would not be right to miss it as also its the first one since before covid and a new venue a nice show but again I missed out a complete hall and missed some layouts if only I had looked at the very good program before I left home!!!! But hope you enjoy what I did film.
UPDATE No21 END TO END LAYOUT

In this update a bit more testing of a couple of loco's and a bit on my face opp but most is about finally starting the station platforms all be it in mostly photo's with commentry but at the end a platform to run a couple of trains into.
UPDATE No20 END TO END LAYOUT
Переглядів 80928 днів тому
An update in name but more trying to settle my thoughts on the Accurascale Manor's noise problem amongt other things so lots of little bits of footage with different setups see what you think is it a case of me worrying to much or should I take action to sort it!!! Its not all about that though as I have bought something new and just a bit more on the station build which one day I will start.
UPDATE No19 END TO END LAYOUT

So one good bit of news in amongst a lot of not so good but thats life is it not but at the end another bit of good news watch to see with a small bit of running at the end, but I have done a bit of ballasting what do you think. Also whats in the next update its in this one.

A break away from the end to end as things have not been going well so this show only 50 miles from home gave it a go, so in this you will see I think all there was to see at this very nice show I meet a couple of fellow YT'ers one showing his Flint Hills layout and the person behind SP Rail (no photo) which I watch a lot. Then home for the return 50miles if I had know how bad the A12 was going...

As I have said a spell of good weather so outside to get all of the outside main work done and then run a few trains to see how it works and ofcourse sort out the problems.
UPDATE No17 THE END TO END LAYOUT

A follow on from No16 update the kitbashing of the Metcalf bridge kit did I get it to do what I wanted and seperate the layout from the fiddleyard and did the glue I used for the track laying do this as well and after did I like doing it?
UPDATE No16 THE END TO END LAYOUT
Переглядів 1,4 тис.2 місяці тому
We get ideas in our head but sometimes they will just not work see what mine was and the new plan to sort it I think. Using that different glue to glue the rails down how well is it glued and is it worth using? Talking of heads what is wrong with mine!!! You will be pleased to know there is not a mouse or mice in this at all just a man me.
UPDATE No15 THE END TO END LAYOUT

So with most of the track glued down I left a couple of tracks to show how I do it having never done it before. A walk along the beach again so you can get your seaside moment. Have I had any problems well yes watch near the end to see what they were. To finish what is next for me to do.

Books are for ??? A delivery almost right one that was ??? Engines running faults and all and how is the work going ? The point wires are they still working?.
UPDATE No13 THE END TO END LAYOUT
Переглядів 4983 місяці тому
So with the single point wires in and ok in this can I get the single wire to operate two points together? Then time to turn the baseboard over & around and get the track back from the shed and pin it down to do the tests before in another video in the future sticking it down and wiring it up. But do I get a train running in this one?
UPDATE No12 THE END TO END LAYOUT
Переглядів 3983 місяці тому
So we have got to the part when I have to fit nearly all the point changing wires in but first the 8ft (2440mm ) x1ft6in (450mm) has to be turned over and round in a 10ft (3000mm) x 10ft (3000mm) area how will that go? And where can I put the bottom board why the work takes place? The house next door is it ready for sale and what does it look like after the builders have been in and some of my ...
UPDATE No11 THE END TO END LAYOUT
Переглядів 3493 місяці тому
So getting to the point when the layout will need to be turned over to fit the point changing wires to the underside so in this the work needed to be ready for that and then in Update No12 the deed will be done and turning an 8ft layout in a 10ft room could be fun!!
UPDATE No10 THE END TO END LAYOUT
Переглядів 3723 місяці тому
Having let in the undertrack uncouplers next was the slots so the points could be changed and then when thats done in the next update the layout could be turned upside down and the rod fitting could take place but as this would have been a short video I have also included a bit on the 16th March 2024 Ally Pally show and also a bit of film on the refurb of the house next door.

    Allan ran his beautiful 9F, so it's a good substitute till your steamies get going. I'm not looking forward to my appointment next week. The train travel part is dead easy, but getting to the hospital from Liverpool Lime Street station is gonna be a pain in the backside if you know what I mean. Being left in the care of Wrexham Mealor Hospital nurses and doctors is OK, close to home. Being left in the care of Liverpool Hospital nurses and doctors can be scary, further away from home. Not that I don't trust them, I do. It's just daunting being so far away from one's family and friends. If any model steamy can help keep me calm, it's Cookham Manor.

    Hi Robert the tree's look great they may cost alot but if your happy buying them. that's all that matters. I'm having to make mine only because i need 1000s, that will teach me for doing a big layout😂😂😂😂 But the thought of building it is exciting. I do have noisy trains but for me i want the train or the livery you have to put up with the noise. But what your finding is very interesting. This video must of taken alot of time to put together. The noise from your Manor is baffling to say the least. Nice work on the platform, making the templates and testing the coaches worked perfectly. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

      @robertstrainset6556 27 днів тому

      Hi, Thanks for watching and your very nice comment and you may well be right but I have seen other modellers who use house wire so think its ok after all it only needs to transmit the signals from the controller to the track and then to the locos as this is a Dcc layout and when you compare it to the other wires I used for the droppers its not much bigger but being solid core looks a lot thicker and it does as you see work the Manor loco is the only one with a real problem and after reading some of the comments on this video there may well be a fault in it so I am now going to continue with the build and hope you will watch to see how it turns out. Cheers Robert.

      @@robertstrainset6556 Hi I will watch the rest of the build. And the fault is probably the Manor loco. Thinner multi strand wire gives better flow of electric...voltage, amps whatever. As long as you don't go too thin and burn the wiring out. But its always good to experiment and I'm sure it will all be fine.

Thanks for watching and your very nice comments and as for the op it went very well and has left me with 13 stiches which will be removed in 10 days time and a bit of pain but its only to be expected. I am now going to get on with building the layout as have deceided that most of this is ok with maybe the Manor needing to be looked at by Accurascale as some have said in the comments but I have mostly sorted the locos which were not running very well it was them and not the layout so all is good. Cheers Robert.

      @robertstrainset6556 27 днів тому

      Hi, Thanks for watching and your interesting comments and no the only long wires are the buss ones all the others are the droppers which if you look back at the earlier videos are not long at all. I think I have two things going on here the Manor with its 3 pole motor and a baseboard construction that makes all the noises the engines make far more noticable but the Manor is the only one were the noise is bad and its only at very very low speed it does that, some of my subscribers think it may need looking at by Accurascale as some motors are not right so I am now going to get on with the build and accept what the layout is. Cheers Robert.

      Hi Malcolm, Yes the op went well and now waiting for my 13 stiches to heal a bit so I can continue with the build having come to the conclusion that there is not much wrong with the layout the construction of the baseboard is I think the main reason for all the noise but apart from the Manor the others are ok so the Manor may need some attention from Accurascale as others have said so after a delay the build will indeed continue as always thanks very much for watching and your very nice comments. Hi Robert… Hope all went well with the procedure and you aren’t too uncomfortable. Regarding the noise issue. To me it sounds like a mechanical vibration. When electronic tech goes wrong we often solve the problem by doing the off and on again thing. I suppose the equivalent in our hobby for a noisy loco is to take it to pieces and put it back together again 😂 It’s worked for me in the past, and sometimes during the process you may be lucky and find the cause of the problem. Regards… Steve 👍

      @robertstrainset6556 27 днів тому

      Hi Steve, Yes a few of the comments on this think there may be a fault in the Manor but as a new purchase and with the lifetime guarantee it may be better to get them to sort it as for the rest all the other loco's are doing well and having had a look at the ones that did not run well and improving them I think its time to get on with the build which I will when the 13 stiches in my head heal a bit more after the op that went very well so thanks very much for watching and your very nice comments hope you are keeping well and enjoying playing trains. I would look at your manor, motor mount. It sounds like the motor vibrating or between the motor and the drive gear. It may not be anything of the sort. I do think what ever the noise is, it is being amplified by the baseboard. Good luck with your procedure. I hope all goes to plan.

    • @robertstrainset6556
      @robertstrainset6556 27 днів тому

      Hi Duncan, Yes I think all of this noise is indeed being made worse due to the construction of the baseboard but its only the Manor that is bad so I may mention it to Accurascale to see if it has a problem as others have commented on cheers for watching and your very nice comments and as for the op all has gone well leaving me with 13 stiches and a bit of pain but in 10 days will have the stiches out and be back more to normal (whatever that is!!!). Blimey Robert you nearly gave me palpatations when you said the price of those trees. Can't really comment on the wire Im afraid, although I do use domestic house wire and strip out the varying colours from the multi strand cable. Personally Id contact Accurascale over your Manor, there is a lifetime guarantee on all of their models regardless of age. Sounds to me like the worm drive similar to the 60 you had a while ago.

    That sound that Cookham Manor made is normal. If you listen carefully to a real GWR steam engine, moving slowly forward, you will hear that sort of slight grinding noise. All GWR steamies make the noise when going really slowly, to determine if they're fit for work or not. For instance, if Cookham Manor was moving slowly forward, making the noise you hear and then she stopped, you'd see she wasn't well and needed TLC. If she moved slowly forward while making the noise, and then gradually picked up speed, you'd know all is well and she's fit as a fiddle. So, you're not doing anything wrong. The engines were making a very realistic sound, which they do in real life.
