I LOVE Roseanna M White!! That is the second book in the series. I guess they COULD be ready out of order, but of course are best read in order. The Lost Heiress is the first book in that series and is my absolute favorite by her!

I am reading my first Rachel Fordham book and now I want to read her entire backlist! ❤

I loved Once Upon a Wardrobe!

It’s crazy to me how hard it is to get the When Calls the Heart books especially in the same format . I blame the hallmark show (Which I love and it was what made want the whole series)

Oh, it's so frustrating not being able to find a book in the right edition! I ran into the same problem with Kate Morton's books (I've enjoyed so many of her books!) I owned all of them except her first one and it took me forever to find one with the original cover. I even ordered it one time from Amazon, and it was pictured with the right cover but when it arrived it was the new cover 😖 Also I've read Between Sisters by Kristin Hannah and, while I have really enjoyed most of her later books (like Firefly Lane and newer), I didn't enjoy Between Sisters quite as much because she just didn't put in the same character depth that she has in her later books. Just to give you fair warning because I remember that being a big part of why I was disappointed with that one.

I had to order my When Calls The Heart Books from Thrift books because I wanted all of the old covers. I finally got them but I had to send back a couple because they were very poor quality

Have you read the Return to the Canadian West series by Janette Oke? That is the series the show is more based on, however I will say I love the books way more! They were all five stars for me. So when they created the series they did it off of the series about her niece Beth Thatcher that moves to coal valley. I yell at the show because it doesn’t follow the books completely.

It looks like the books are different publishers. But I think I would return it also. I don’t mind large print but I can’t stand white stark paper and dark ink. It hurts my eyes. ThriftBooks had one from February 2005 with Bethany House as the publisher which I think would be quality. 🤷‍♀️They had six left.

Yeah, Once Upon a Wardrobe is set at Christmas! And it was really good.

I loved the Giver when I first read it in 8th grade. So many connections I made then. I think the series finished it, but I never read it. Also, The When Calls the Heart series is the best Janette Oke series.

I ❤ Lauraine Snelling and have read almost all of her books! There are actually 3 series (I think) before the one you purchased that follows the families in the series. I have read them all several times and they remain some of my favorites.

Ooh that Cathy Gohlke book sounds so good. I’ve read one of hers and definitely want to read more of hers.

The show is actually based on another book series. The return to the Canadian west series. They just called it when calls the heart. But Elizabeth and jack’s story starts with when courage calls. The Elizabeth you’re reading about is the aunt of the Elizabeth thatcher in the show. She’s Beth in the books too not Elizabeth. I guess to avoid confusion. But yeah. If you read those, you’ll see early seasons of the show. The show does go off the rails in later seasons though. I haven’t even watched this latest one because I can’t stand Nathan!

I read the first Inheritance Games book but haven’t read more. I also really liked it, with reservations for the same reasons you mentioned. Plus there’s a lesbian relationship just beginning in the first book, that is then a much more major part in the second. 😕 -Lucy

I completely agree with you about Janette Oke. I was so surprised when I started reading the books and realized they were so different (and so much better!) than the Hallmark movies.

I've been meaning to get to The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and the Horse forever. Maybe this will be good motivation to finally pick it up! I also enjoyed Wormwood Abbey and am looking forward to continuing the series 😍
