Hello! Thanks for stopping by. :)
Welcome to my little corner where I mostly talk about books and drink lots of coffee! You might see some vlogs or other types of videos here and there as well!
I mostly read Christian fiction & nonfiction, junior/midgrade, memoirs/biographies/true stories, and classics.
Ultimately my goal in life is: to know Jesus more, to become more like Him, to make Him known, and to honor Him with all that I do. I hope to do that well in this little corner of UA-cam and all aspects of my life. He is worthy.
*This obviously influences my choice of books to read. If a book promotes ideas or has any elements that dishonor God and His Word, I will either DNF (this will vary on the content) or at the least it will lose stars in my ratings. *
"Wherever she went, whatever she was doing, Jesus was her theme, and His love for dying humanity was her compelling motive."

January Reading Wrap Up | a GREAT reading month!📚
I LOVE Roseanna M White!! That is the second book in the series. I guess they COULD be ready out of order, but of course are best read in order. The Lost Heiress is the first book in that series and is my absolute favorite by her!
@@daminikacs thank you! Good to know. I’ll see if I can find this one too! ☺️
I am reading my first Rachel Fordham book and now I want to read her entire backlist! ❤
That mug😍😍
@@faithandbooks it was gift from a friend and it’s my absolute favorite 😍
I loved Once Upon a Wardrobe!
It’s crazy to me how hard it is to get the When Calls the Heart books especially in the same format . I blame the hallmark show (Which I love and it was what made want the whole series)
Oh, it's so frustrating not being able to find a book in the right edition! I ran into the same problem with Kate Morton's books (I've enjoyed so many of her books!) I owned all of them except her first one and it took me forever to find one with the original cover. I even ordered it one time from Amazon, and it was pictured with the right cover but when it arrived it was the new cover 😖 Also I've read Between Sisters by Kristin Hannah and, while I have really enjoyed most of her later books (like Firefly Lane and newer), I didn't enjoy Between Sisters quite as much because she just didn't put in the same character depth that she has in her later books. Just to give you fair warning because I remember that being a big part of why I was disappointed with that one.
@@Coffee_and_a_Book oh that’s so frustrating! 😣 And thanks for heads up! I’ll see how it goes with that one. 😅
lol one day you hit your 40s and you will need that large print.
@@ReadBrucey probably 🤣
I had to order my When Calls The Heart Books from Thrift books because I wanted all of the old covers. I finally got them but I had to send back a couple because they were very poor quality
@@BookedandBlessed24 yeah I wasn’t having much luck with thriftbooks either 🙃
Have you read the Return to the Canadian West series by Janette Oke? That is the series the show is more based on, however I will say I love the books way more! They were all five stars for me. So when they created the series they did it off of the series about her niece Beth Thatcher that moves to coal valley. I yell at the show because it doesn’t follow the books completely.
@@BookedandBlessed24 that makes so much more sense! But no I never read those books! Will hopefully get to them as soon as I’m done with my reread of this series ☺️
@@carmenjanae there are 3 books, the first one is called Where Courage Calls. I think they are sort of companion novels to the show but they are good in their own right and worth reading, I don’t think they’re as good as the original series but I still loved them!
Loved this vlog!! ❤
@@LeeEllenHughes10 glad you enjoyed it! ☺️
Honestly I love these random vlogs. Also...maybe this isn't the place to mention it but I was just thinking that we should collab again!🤭
@@ericayoder I agree 😆
I hope I can read this book without reading the others but I got an Uncommon Courtship from Libby, it sounds really good
@@BookedandBlessed24 I think you can read it without reading the others first … it does mention the sisters and their spouses a few times but that would be the only “spoiler” to know who they end up with but you can pretty much figure that out on the back of the books anyway. 😆
You have wonderful book suggestions!
That is a beautiful library 😍
Love Kip's name story!
I can imagine how much of a blessing yall were to your pregnant friend!
Love the BuJo flipthru! So cute!!
Well, I’m glad you found one! 👍🏻Disregard my previous comment. I always used Anbesol when my son was teething. Disregard if you’re Firstborn denomination.
It looks like the books are different publishers. But I think I would return it also. I don’t mind large print but I can’t stand white stark paper and dark ink. It hurts my eyes. ThriftBooks had one from February 2005 with Bethany House as the publisher which I think would be quality. 🤷♀️They had six left.
@@amyodell7157 hhmm I remember looking on thriftbooks but I don’t remember seeing any copies. 😅 but pango ended up being cheaper anyway 🙌🏼
@@amyodell7157 but I agree. The stark white and dark ink bothered me more than large print.

I LOVED the whole ‘matching series book’ debacle in the vlog. Understand completely! Why is it so difficult to find these things?! fun vlog.
@@OldeAmericanSpirit right?!? 😆 and thank you! ☺️
How are you liking Northanger?
@@MorgansEndlessBookshelf I’m actually really enjoying it! A different feel from P&P and S&S … but I actually almost like it better 🤭 which Persuasion is my favorite of hers so far and that for sure is a different tone/style. 😆
@@carmenjanae Yes, Northanger is different, but I love all of hers (other than Lady Susan)!
Loved hearing your baby babble!
Yeah, Once Upon a Wardrobe is set at Christmas! And it was really good.
I loved the Giver when I first read it in 8th grade. So many connections I made then. I think the series finished it, but I never read it. Also, The When Calls the Heart series is the best Janette Oke series.
@@capturedbyannamarie I agree that it is the best of her series 🙌🏼☺️
@@carmenjanae some thoughts on the Warsaw sisters faith in the book issue. I feel like some of the issue is the authors. They might not be saved themselves, and so they don’t know how to write a character with morals. I think that is definitely the case.
The Buck Stops Here… read it years ago, was quite good!
@@thebookaddict1244 good to know!
Ok but you need to read “yesterday’s tides” by Roseanna M White!
@@thebookaddict1244 I’ll add it to the list 😆
Yes yes I understand about the new Janette Oke… series gotta match!
@@thebookaddict1244 wow. It’s been frustrating! Happy to have found matching ones though. Still on the hunt for the rest of the series 😆
I ❤ Lauraine Snelling and have read almost all of her books! There are actually 3 series (I think) before the one you purchased that follows the families in the series. I have read them all several times and they remain some of my favorites.
@@jaimeg.3012 good to know 🙌🏼☺️
@@jaimeg.3012 would I need to read the others before reading the ones I got in this video?
@@carmenjanae not technically but it would give you a lot of the back story on everyone. There are 13 books before you get to the series you bought.
@@carmenjanae the series names are Red River of the North, Return to Red River and Daughters of Blessing. And there is another series after the one you bought (I am still trying to get my hands on that series for my shelves) I have all the other ones.
@@jaimeg.3012 thank you!! I’ll look into them ☺️
I LOVED Wormwood Abbey!!!
@@booksandbreggs it was so much fun 😆
❤ The Giver. It was my favorite thing to teach when I taught 7th grade.
She left it to your interpretation. It is a loose series. She added the rest of the book years later. They sort of circle back.
I need to continue and read An Uncommon Courtship! I love Marriage of Convenience
@@BookLoverAmanda I think you’d like this one ☺️
Yes… love when calls the heart book, that series was always my favorite by Janette Oke
Mine too! Such a beautiful story. ❤
Ooh that Cathy Gohlke book sounds so good. I’ve read one of hers and definitely want to read more of hers.
@@thebookaddict1244 which one did you read? Trying to decide which one to go with next ☺️
@@carmenjanae I read Saving Amelie… really good!
@@thebookaddict1244 oh yes, that is one I looked at!
The show is actually based on another book series. The return to the Canadian west series. They just called it when calls the heart. But Elizabeth and jack’s story starts with when courage calls. The Elizabeth you’re reading about is the aunt of the Elizabeth thatcher in the show. She’s Beth in the books too not Elizabeth. I guess to avoid confusion. But yeah. If you read those, you’ll see early seasons of the show. The show does go off the rails in later seasons though. I haven’t even watched this latest one because I can’t stand Nathan!
@@Readingindarknesss ah that makes SO much sense!!
@@Readingindarknesss I never got to the Return to the Canadian West … that’s why I never made the connection. 🤣 and I’m with you. I preferred Jack to Nathan for sure. . . 🤣
The Warsaw sisters was really good!! It sort of reminded me of the nightengale.
@@Readingindarknesss yes, I agree!
What other Cathy gohlke have you read?? I read the medallion and saving Amelie!8
Ha ha😊 I loved your little baby shared her opinions as well. So Cute! I read “ the lady and the lionheart” , and starfish bay series from Irene Hannon. I heard other people recommend “ an uncommon courtship” , I would love to start a new book series, looking forward to read those.
I read the first Inheritance Games book but haven’t read more. I also really liked it, with reservations for the same reasons you mentioned. Plus there’s a lesbian relationship just beginning in the first book, that is then a much more major part in the second. 😕 -Lucy
@@cleangenescrew9408 hmmm I wondered about that. I didn’t mention it because it wasn’t a main point of the story … maybe I will just look up spoilers and not continue the story 😕
You trying to calm down while taking a sip of coffee, had me rolling! 😂 I’ve only seen the When Calls the Heart series, now I’m going to have to read the books! Thanks for ranting about it! 🤣💕
@@robinkirk1821 🤭🤣 my sister who hadn’t read the books yet LOVES the show and Jack and I’m just like. No. 👏🏼 Wynn is far superior. 🤣 And the whole story line? It’s not even remotely close to the series. It’s much more real life, in the North with the natives, and all the hardships they face up there. Not an idyllic happy little town 🤣
Did I miss it? Did you say you and your little sister’s favorite book by Janette Oke? Care to share? I have that series so now I have to read the first one. I quit watching the series because it jumped around so much. 🤨 Great video!
@@amyodell7157 no I don’t think I actually said it. But it’s Gown of Spanish Lace. A stand alone ☺️
@@carmenjanae Oh good! I have that one. Well, actually, I tried to buy all of hers when in my binge shopping moment (ahem year) on ThriftBooks. Did you know husbands get mad 🚨when you spend in the triple digits on books each month? 🫣
@@amyodell7157 🤭🤣
@@carmenjanae I’m sorry if that sounded like bragging. But we didn’t have money to spend on books when we first got married. But now I do only because God has blessed us. 🙌🏻 I’m reading Brandilyn Collins Violet Dawn suspense novel. She’s an OG writer. Have a blessed day!

I was the opposite, sort of. I wanted a girl, got a boy, and he's the greatest thing that's ever happened to me. 😂
@@MorgansEndlessBookshelf love that 😆
My baby likes to watch me talk about my books, too. 😂😂
I completely agree with you about Janette Oke. I was so surprised when I started reading the books and realized they were so different (and so much better!) than the Hallmark movies.
I read them In high school before the shows came out, and was sorely disappointed with the shows. They ruined them.
I've been meaning to get to The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and the Horse forever. Maybe this will be good motivation to finally pick it up! I also enjoyed Wormwood Abbey and am looking forward to continuing the series 😍
