Keep in mind that Led Zeppelin and some of these bands are playing not all that long after Chuck Berry. Much closer to Berry in time than to the present. Zeppelin was 1968-1980. Berry was mainly active from 1955-1972. Point being ... we went from honky tonk rock tunes like Johnny B. Goode to ethereal rock ballads like Stairway in a very short period of time. 👍🎸🔥

By the way, the studio version is beautiful as well! The live version is a bit more powerful because of Jimmy's extended, passionate, and largely-improvised guitar solo (i.e., he only makes passing reference to the recorded version, uses it as a general guide to refer to, as he free-blows on the rest of it), but both are amazing performances.

That's why we all love watching you react to all this, cuz you don't just listen and go, "yeah, umm, gee that was great...thanks for the suggestion, peace out" etc. NO, you listen and, you go thru the lyrics and you get inside it and try to understand it, and we see it in your face and in your eyes when you get it. BUt most importantly you FEEL it, and when you feel it, I know exactly what your feeling cuz its the same thing I felt the first time I heard these songs, Decades ago. To me, when that happens, we are brothers. Brothers in music. That's a great thing because I believe music truly does have the power to bring us all together. It doesn't matter that you're a young black man from Toledo Ohio and I'm a 50 something white guy from Newton New Jersey. We're just two PEOPLE sharing the amazing power of music and it's awesome!
