What just happened!!!? You just saw Led Zeppelin performing - no autotune, no gimmicks - just four of the best musicians of the 20th century clicking into the greatest rock band in history!
Led Zeppelin is the group. Lead singer: Robert Plant, guitarist: Jimmy Page, Bassist: John Paul Jones, Drummer: John Bonham. If you enjoyed, you'll definitely enjoy 'Since I've been loving you" at MSG, 1973.
@@InJOYLife pssh...do it like we did in the 70's and 80's. Go in your basement, turn on the blacklight, put this album on the turntable, turn up the volume and get high af.
Since I've been Loving You, Dazed and Confused, Kashmir, In My Time of Dying, When the Levee Breaks....... Just a Few of Zeppelins Great Jams. These boys know how to take you there! Welcome to the Zep rabbit hole!!
Ultimately, it's about your favourite band because music is an art form and therefore subjective, it's impossible to measure 'best.' Truly a great band but Page's solo is an elongated mess compared to the studio original, but he was always a little sloppy live.
The double neck allows Jimmy to switch between the more melodic folk song sound to the heavy rock guitar sound that this song made famous. They were the first to really pull this off and many have tried to copy it without the same success.
Thank you for your infectious enthusiasm! My Freshman year in high school I bought the last copy of "Led Zeppelin I" at the local record shop in my small, Midwestern hometown. The album was initially panned by all the East and West Coast critics & Glitterati but quickly soared to the top of the charts, became a monster classic of rock and remained there for an eternity thanks to us poor. dumb, smelly Walmart shoppers. I was born in the early '50s and I feel so fortunate that I grew up at a time when, despite the odds, we were doing relatively okay. There is no way to express to you the frenzy, the joy, even the hysteria that often seemed to erupt spontaneously from our absolute awe at what 18, 22, 25 year olds were doing musically. From my earliest memories of music (Mahalia Jackson singing Gospel on Sunday mornings on St. Louis KPLR-TV 11), I remember music being central to my life even though my talents were mostly limited to engineering and science. Sometimes it's not only hard to believe what we saw and experienced, on both sides of the political spectrum in the '60s and '70s, but even harder to believe that people seem to think today is bad compared to living through the Great Depression, WWII and Korea, like my Pop, or Vietnam to the 1st Gulf War as some of us from my generation. Sorry, I wandered a little off course. What I guess I'm attempting to convey is some sense of how deeply important ALL music was to my generation. It was a thread that connected not just the younger (my) generation together but everyone else as well. When I think back on the explosion of creative genius that sprang from my era of the '50s, '60s & '70s, in all endeavors of science, culture and political thought, I am so grateful to be old today. You can't imagine the freedom, the joy at merely being young, alive and engaged in living and loving and just being cool that we all experienced.. Ah well, Zeppelin, the Dead, the Kinks , Clapton, Hendrix, Motown, Jazz, the Beatles, the Zombies (a jukebox favorite at the burger joint I frequented c. 1964)..........and a thousand bands you've never heard of yet, formed the backdrop and the soundtrack, for my life. So many seminal, groundbreaking, life altering experiences and events from what was really a most amazing time in our lives. You can't imagine just how much many in my generation hope we can pass on our love of ALL creative forces with which we have been endowed. This is what connects us to God. This is how God separates us from Satan. We alone are capable of creating beauty from nothing to glorify Him, even when we don't understand His reasons or methods. Evil exists only to destroy. Most of the songs and groups I knew from that era are so etched in my memory that I can tell you if a single note is absent from "Mountain Jam", "Layla", "Salisbury", "Kashmir" or any of several thousand recordings from that era. And I haven't even addressed Jazz, Blues, Classical, Caribbean, Bossa Nova, Gospel, West Texas Roadhouse.....well, you get the idea. I could spend a lifetime introducing one kid to the joy, the purity and the soul edifying effects of music on all Humankind. How does one listen to Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata', Pavarotti's "Ave Maria" or the nearly out of body experience of Gregorian monks chanting, without knowing, deep in your soul, we are all connected and are all Children of God? I hope I didn't get too politically or spiritually offensive. That was never my intent. Sometimes it really, really hurts and disappoints me to realize how much energy humans have wasted in self destruction when the real beauty of Creation is entirely independent of our petty, selfish squabbles and exists solely to Glorify God.
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is zeppelin. Jimmy Page is playing his Gibson double neck. The reason for using this guitar is it has a 12 string top neck which gives a fuller rhythm sound , The bottom neck is a.traditional 6 string that is tuned differently to give the lead solos more of a distinct sound. Now that’s out of the way. You better keep that seatbelt on. Expect the unexpected. Every song unique and will touch a different part of your soul. Timeless music performed by master musicians. Rock, Blues, Soul, R&B, Folk, Funk, Punk, Pop, Ballads, Reggae. Even a hint of Country. You will hear all these influences. Every song is different. There is not one or two great songs. Every song is a masterpiece of brilliance. This is why they were then and will always be the Greatest Band to ever grace the stage. Here’s a few suggestions: The Song Remains the Same/ The Rain Song, react to them as one song from 1973 MSG live. Also from the same show. Since I’ve been loving you, Whole latta love, funk out with Kashmir. Little Reggae with Dyer Maker. Mello it out with some acoustic folk in Going to California. Or Thank You. How about some Gospel? Try In my Time of Dying. Pop it’s Fool in the Rain. I could go on and on every song is great
yeah! by whom? he starts it late then he keeps on going after he was supposed to have finished, listen to the drums that gives it away. jimmy knows it too, it kinds of falls apart at the moment but they pick it up, but he does stuff it up.
It’s a double necked guitar, a 12 string and 6 string. He starts off with the 12 and switches to the 6 for the solo. It’s a whole band... although someone probably named their kid Led Zeppelin in the world. Check out anything by them but why not start with Whole Lotta Love or Kashmir.
@@Rick-or2kq Yup, except he actually said "like a led zeppelin" jokingly referring to the Hindenburg Zeppelin Balloon that "caught fire" mid-flight in the 1930's and shocked everyone around the world.
Ba hahahahaha "somebody probably named their kid Led Zeppelin in the world." I never considered that, but when I met a dude named Thorin whose sister was named Galadriel, I should have. (BTW I hope I don't have to tell anyone where those named are used. If so, you need to consider moving from under your rock.)
This is my first time seeing your channel.... I loved your reaction! This band is LEGENDARY!! You should do several more... and once you have become a true Led Zeppelin fan... because you WILL become a fan... you should then come full circle & watch Heart’s tribute to Led Zeppelin singing Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center Honors. It will blow your socks off!!! I promise.
They were being honored by the U.S.(they are from England) with the Kennedy Center Honor for their lifetime achievement and contributions to American Culture. President Obama and the 1st Lady along with many, many celebrities and dignitaries were there. It is a Huge and Prestigious honor. The guys of Led Zeppelin were very moved. Robert Plant(lead singer) had tears in his eyes and Jimmy Page(lead guitarist) was all smiles from ear to ear.... Legendary night for a legendary band!
You nailed it, the ascending tempo was the guitarists (Jimmy Page) main idea for the song. The lyrics as a whole are not meant to have any meanings they were written by Robert Plant and were just a bunch of short incohesive fills to go along with Pages plan for the song. This was told by Page and Plant in an interview.
The meaning is pretty clear lyrically just ask any alimony paying bitter man of which there are many lol which is one of the reasons Robert Plant retrospectively calls it one of their youthful songs and does not adhere as much importance to it as say Kashmir because he doesn't want to engage in nonsense, although as many Zeppelin songs the meaning is not inherent in the lyrics only - this is a point, but if you could surmise and I'm gonna say lyrically again the song it's about stop gold digging and find true happiness woman, although that may not be actually what the song is "about". Page and Plant say what they say in interviews because they have to negotiate a quagmire of snakes on a daily basis.
You'll also want to react to another tune from the same show called Since I've Been Loving You. The whole crowd is just staring like slack-jawed zombies, even the security guards.
Anything from their 1973 the song remains the same concert at MSG is crazy good. If you liked that guitar try dazed and confused live from the concert I mentioned. Its a 28 minute guitar solo. He even plays it with a bow, incredible!
Zeppelin is hands down the greatest rock and roll band of all time! You definitely should check out their other music! Zep could be very soulful when they wanted, but when it was time to rock and roll they never disappointed
Been there doll. Saw them back about 77 I believe. Pontiac Michigan. Silverdome Sold out. Shattering their own attendance record. Over 77,000. Biggest band on the planet at that time I was 21,and they had been my favorite band from age 14. Still have the $10 stub. I'm almost 65, and still blast them whenever I here them. And I ain't alone
Led Zeppelin was created by guitarist Jimmy Page in 1968 and he also produced all their albums. They were known as a hard rock/heavy blues band but they played a variety of other styles also. They disbanded in 1980 upon the death of their drummer. Zeppelin music will always make you feel some type of way but it's up to you to discover. Pick any song from their catalogue and it will be amazing.
must watch, the 2012 Kennedy Center honors for Led Zeppelin and the cover of this by the ladies from the rock band 'Heart' and John Bonham's son Jason on drums, was powerful, Robert Plant was fighting back tears of joy...
My personal favorite of theirs is ten years gone off of physical graffiti, their best album. However there are so many great songs to choose from including Ramble On, the Rover, the song Remains the Same, Good Times Bad Times, and there is a 1975 live performance of No Quarter that is just unbelievable if you can find it.
To me, this song is a warning about the power of women. No matter how happy you keep them, they are always looking to trade up. They see gold in every man.
Great reaction!!! You really need to react to Led's Kashmir performance!! Said by many to be their best song..and I so agree!! The 2007 performance at Celebration concert is crazy amazing!! They are much older but will blow your mind!! Hope you get the opportunity to see it!
Robert wrote this when he was quite young....he came to hate the song which he referred to as that "damn wedding song". He won't sing it anymore. I think, however, he liked when HEART did a version to honor them at the Lincoln Center...Their body of work spans just over a decade but remains timeless.
BEST BAND EVER! Please do all their live performances...aren't they amazing? Do all the songs from this concert...Killer!! 1973 Madison Square Garden! Led Zeppelin...name of the band.
This song happened about an hour and a half into the concert with about another 20 minutes to go after this song so imagine playing the guitar at that level for that long each night plus all the practicing between shows, his fingers were fine.
LOVED how you appreciated this song. His fingers don't hurt.... Jimmy was a studio musician from his early teenage years, playing uncredited on some very old well known tracks. The tip of his fingers are like rocks because of his well over 10,000 hours of playing (how long it takes to truly master something). IMO, Jimmy Page is the greatest guitarist of all time (second/third in no particular order are Jerry Garcia [Grateful Dead] and Jimmy Hendrix). As you can see, Jimmy is playing a 12/6 Double Neck Guitar (tuned the same) - he opens with the 6 String, yet the 12 String gives a more etherial and brighter tone, where each string has a "buddy" that's in a higher pitch. You can see the singer (Plant) crack a smile when he switches to the 12 String. He plays the 12 string for the majority of the verses and the intro to the solo, but as you can see, he slaps that button and solos on the 6 string to get the power, sharp and dynamic sound. The way he switches seamlessly between the A Harmonic Minor Scale and A Minor Pentatonic is just unparalleled, nobody can do what he does. Then, he reverts back to the 12 string for the exit/Plant's ending vocals. Robert Plant was called "The Golden God" for a good reason... the raw power yet stage presence and finesse is unparalleled. RIP John Bonham, the drummer... his jazz triplets that he incorporates into Rock n Roll is absurd - so many covers use two foot bass pedals while he only needed one. Many consider him to be the greatest drummer of all time, and that's not just in the realm of Rock n Roll: jazz and all included! John Paul Jones (Keys, Drums, and more) was the true glue that allowed all of this talent to flow, and he was/is exceptionally talented. Welcome to the greatest Rock Band of All Time... I hope you check out more of their live stuff (it'll get you views too!)
The word band does not do justice to describe how tight these guys were. They could play spontaneous variations and still sound tight and vibing at the same time. Well done with the upward comparison of the music and the lyrics!
Guitarist Jimmy Page said that they wanted to record a song that starts off slow then builds up faster and louder. Stairway To Heaven is actually a combination of four songs that the band had been working on that eventually developed into one song.
What a beautiful smile you have. Thanks for sharing. This is an absolute amazing performance. Check out the MASTERPIECE called Kashmir. The greatest song ever written from first note to last and every magical note in between pure perfection
Great Reaction. Please do "Kashmir Live". Same group. They have at least 20 incredible songs. People dont "watch" Led Zeppelin. People "experience" Led Zeppelin. Lol
You should view the video for Kashmir from Celebration Day. It's my favorite Zeppelin song. (they are all in their 60s at that concert) Also, watch the Kennedy Center Honors from 2012 where there was a 20 minute tribute to Led Zeppelin, especially Stairway to Heaven presented by Heart. It's mindblowing.
Like guitars? Stevie Ray Vaughan Voodoo Child Live One Night In Austin Texas then Texas Flood Live At El Mocambo You won't be disappointed! As for Led Zeppelin, anything you pick will be great!
The GOATS.....😎👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 a 12 string on top, a six string on the bottom. If you pay attention he plays them at different times! You have to view more of the Madison Square Garden concert from which this was tune was recorded! This band was one of the greatest bands of all time. In my opinion they are the greatest!
Another group to check out that has a deep rabbit hole is Pink Floyd. Where to start? Probably Time from the album The Dark Side Of The Moon. As suggested for Led Zeppelin the same goes for Pink Floyd. "Headphones"!
You poor thing! You’ve spent you entire life up until this point, without ever hearing this song. Better late than not at all. My girl there is so much great music from the 70’s & 80’s, the golden era of rock, all available for you on UA-cam. Educate yourself. You’ll be all the richer for it. Led Zeppelin, Since I’ve Been Loving You and Kashmir. And please also check out Queen! Led Zep and Queen my favourite bands. Queen, Somebody to Love live at Montreal, is absolutely amazing! Loved your reaction, so I really, really hope you come back for more Rock music
Double neck twelve on top, Jimmy Page at his finest. John Henry Bonham on drums, John Paul Jones Organ and Bass, and last but not least Robert Plant with his mesmerizing vocals. One of the best songs in the history of popular music.
She's looking gto get high its playing g slow these ppl are still making $$$$ I'm a Motown girl but this song talks about drugs and dieing and it took me 10 years to get it Zeppelin is a master in words
Greatest rock band. And Page is greatest guitarist. Plant great vocalist. Bohnham best drummer. John paul Jones awesome on the keyboard. And yes. He composed that Song to gradually build. Saw them 4 times. Greatest concerts.
I didn’t see it that way but yeah it goes higher and higher I know it was progressively going wilder but yes that’s the magic of this masterpiece and I love the scream part

This is considered by many to be the greatest song in rock and roll history.
Nothing arguable about it. This song has consistently been ranked top dog on just about every all-time rock list for the last 40+ years.
Good reaction! And yes, the gradual progression in the song is meant to represent climbing up a stairway (according to the band). Nice catch!

The double guitar gives Jimmy Page extra range without having to change guitars mid performance.

Range in sense? Extra notes? No. The 12 string neck just gives a more ethereal sound. Thats all

I was 21,and they had been my favorite band from age 14. Still have the $10 stub. I'm almost 65, and still blast them whenever I here them. And I ain't alone
Omgggg!!!! You are sooo lucky!!! I bet it was amazing!😩👏🏽
If you've never owned Led Zeppelin "4" you've got so much to look forward to in life. It's one of the must have albums.
Thank u so much for the info!!! That’s great!😩🙏🏽
must watch, the 2012 Kennedy Center honors for Led Zeppelin and the cover of this by the ladies from the rock band 'Heart' and John Bonham's son Jason on drums, was powerful, Robert Plant was fighting back tears of joy...
You NEED to listen to Since I've Been Loving You live at Madison Square Garden 1973 next!
Listen to the studio version it is magically.
I absolutely agree!!!🙌🏽 and thank u sm!🙏🏽
Welcome to the greatest band in the world.... there's many 70's bands that will take you on a total trip... .. happy exploring.
They are The Rock God's.
saw them in 75. They were great
Guitarist Jimmy Page said that they wanted to record a song that starts off slow then builds up faster and louder.
That's the reaction this song deserves.. Same happened with me when I heard it first time.. Keep it up..
Since I’ve Been Loving You from this concert is a whole vibe. 🔥🔥😎
Led Zepplin is like a box of choclate, never know what's inside...
Great Reaction. Please do "Kashmir Live". Same group. They have at least 20 incredible songs. People dont "watch" Led Zeppelin. People "experience" Led Zeppelin. Lol
Since I’ve been loving you live MSG that’ll blow you away!
Double neck,12 string on top,6 on the lower.Need it to play this song.
GREATEST SONG EVER DONE BY THE GREATEST BAND EVER...
Like guitars?
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Voodoo Child Live One Night In Austin Texas
then
Texas Flood Live At El Mocambo
You won't be disappointed!
As for Led Zeppelin, anything you pick will be great!
Saw their last live tour in the USA, in Chicago in 1975....trust me...it kicked ass
Omg I bet!!!😩🔥
I failed high school to this band!
Me too!
Yeah..but you got experienced...
About the double guitar, one of the two necks are with 12 strings but the lower have 6 string.
Led Zeppelin is:
Robert Plant (lead vocals)
Jimmy Page (guitars)
John Paul Jones (bass and keyboards)
The late, great John Bonham (drums)
whole lotta love, travelling riverside blues, since i've been loving you- live, The Ocean live..just to name a few
Thank you for the suggestions!!!🙏🏽
Another group to check out that has a deep rabbit hole is Pink Floyd. Where to start? Probably Time from the album The Dark Side Of The Moon. As suggested for Led Zeppelin the same goes for Pink Floyd. "Headphones"!
"G-R-O-O-V-Y" Mammacita. Have a Blessed Day..😊Adios
Thank you for the info!!!🙏🏽 I can’t wait to listen to more! I’m creating a channel just based of reactions so I’ll be doing it over there!😇
Double neck twelve on top, Jimmy Page at his finest. John Henry Bonham on drums, John Paul Jones Organ and Bass, and last but not least Robert Plant with his mesmerizing vocals. One of the best songs in the history of popular music.
The name comes from someone who said they would go down like a lead balloon.
Yes, Keith Moon said it.
Nothing like listening with headphones on vinyl.
I didn’t see it that way but yeah it goes higher and higher I know it was progressively going wilder but yes that’s the magic of this masterpiece and I love the scream part
It went in a delectable direction...
