Queen prepped for this and you can tell. Each band was allowed “X” amount of time on stage. Queen had it timed to the second. This is evidenced by the strip of lights (green, yellow, red) on stage to signal to the artist(s) how they were on time. If you look from the bands perspective on the floor on the right, when the band plays the last note of the set and Freddie drops his arm, the light turns red. Just perfection.

The greatest frontman ever, the incomparable Freddie Mercury. All of the band were talented songwriters and musicians, one of the most highly educated and smart bands ever, Brian May has a Ph.D in Astrophysics, as well as being one of the great rock guitarists....I love Queen. Really enjoyed your reaction :)
“There are some guitar strings on that thing” No, that’s just how I’m sync Brian May & Freddie were. Everyone always heaps the praise on Freddie, which he deserves, but the whole band needs a shout for keeping up with and predicting him. Live proof that Queen, as a whole, were god tier.
I was looking for this comment, he and Brian were absolutely God tier. Either he or brian could do the guitar like twin souls, it pays to the illusion of music from the mic... .. Which started from a mic stand accidentally being broken during a performance and became an icon, if my old rusty memory serves.
Sadly I only got to spend a small part of my life with Freddie in it as I was 10 when he sadly passed but I'm thankful for it as I loved listening to Queen and still do.
My God watching you light up like a Christmas Tree watching this brings such a swell in my heart. I got a gift of Live Killers a live Queen album when I was twelve and have never been the same. @@elizabethbaker7185 Queen didn't cover anyone. Everyone else covered Queen. Freddie was a huge Elvis fan and wrote this song while he was soaking in his bathtub.
@@elizabethbaker7185 nope you’re wrong. Freddie wrote this song two years after Elvis died. He was a massive Elvis fan so wrote this song in “Elvis style”. As it’s a tribute to Elvis from Freddie, Elvis impersonators sing this song regularly. Sadly the real Elvis never heard it.

now you see why we wanted you to see this , you just witnessed the greatest live performance ever , david bowie called freddy a bastard when queen went off the stage because david had to follow that up , this was queen at full tilt there was 70 something thousand people at wembly at the same time there was 100 something thousand watching at a simultaneous concert at Philadelphia and several million more watching live around the world and on top of that they wernt even on the billing list till the last moment because the promoters thought that because queen hadnt released a song in a while at that time the promoters figured they wernt relevant enough for the crowd , so all those people are considered " not a typical queen audience " and they stole the show , thats how much of a big deal this was
Yes, Freddy had music class when he was in concert. Check out Freddy doing opera with Montrrserat Caballer. Yes Freddy did opera. And the singer was blown away that a rock star understood and loved opera
Queen wasn’t even supposed to do that show they added them last minute and they absolutely stole the show, ended up being the best performance of the entire concert!
16:25 is Hammer To Fall. According to its writer, Brian May, the song is about life and death. The "Hammer" is the Grim Reaper. 23:02 is Crazy Little Thing Called Love. It's Freddie's tribute to Elvis, who was one of Freddie's influences. Freddie wrote it in 10 minutes while he was taking a bath.
Freddie has such a huge stage presence. You can almost feel the charisma emanating from him. No matter how good you are at playing an instrument, no matter if you have the voice of an angel. If you do not have that 'spark', that little something in your personality, that magic in your soul, that gives you that bit extra, you'll never make it big...
The end is so good. He’s not just singing his songs. He invited the audience to take part in this historical event. The audience became a part of the music. And he walks around the stage enjoying what he created and feel the love they have for him.
If you are learning the history of rock then this is a staple of the course. This show is a perfect way to watch a band show it's love for their fans and the entire crowd reciprocating that love. Once you see this, it stays with you. A piece of music history that should not be missed. I'm so happy you have witnessed this. It wasn't to long after this that Freddie was diagnosed and within a few years he did the video These Are The Days Of Our Lives, and it still breaks my heart every time I see it. He loved us as much as we loved him. Quintessential Rock Star. It's an honor to watch this but I can only watch it through glassy tear filled eyes. But in total admiration for the legend he was.
You said everything I’m feeling... I remember when Queen came out that’s how old I am ... I’m so glad he did this, and watch his subscribers go up when he starts doing Queen 🖖🏻🇨🇦😊
"It's not fair, he's stealing the show." The rest of the band Queen was used to Freddie stealing the show. It was the other acts preforming at this concert that got extra spicy about it. :)
I remember the concert vividly and I think Queen were about the fourth band on. They had had a string of hits but were relatively quiet at that time. Their performance though propelled them into the stratosphere. Freddie was a comet that seared across the sky too briefly. In a way his brilliance and his lifestyle doomed him and at the same time ensured his permanent place in music. What a catalogue of songs Queen have for generations to enjoy.
Its really cool to see the younger generations finding and discovering Freddie, Queen, their Live Aid set still sounds so good. I was watching as a teen and remember the rotary dial phones and all the people answering and taking donations on the air. Every time I watch this its a happy time.
Fun fact: Freddie had issues with his throat that night (I believe it was an infection or something) and his doctors told him not to sing or he could permanently damage his voice. Man went on to perform the greatest show of all time.
I laughed when you said “did I do all the hits?” Man this set is huge hits. They picked songs people knew world wide. They have 3 greatest hits albums. But their best stuff isn’t on them.
Yep...... their catalog is immense!, but remember they were together for 20 years! and worked very hard to perfect their sound, all fantastic musicians! and with Freddie... well....Legendary!
I believe Freddy would be happiest at that he is still having listeners follow his lead because he was such a performer & wanted to give the world music!!! You mimicking him, just like the crowd does, watching this for the first time just made my heart swell!! Your videos make me so happy! And you've introduced me to some music I've never heard before! Hello Home Free! 🙏🏼❤ Thank you for everything! Love & light to you & yours!
Can't take my eyes off of Freddy on this one. His performance makes my heart pound and leaves me out of breath. His presence and stage & crowd command is something else. This one outshines everybody else. BTW I am pretty sure they also had to consider which songs to play in Live Aid, a benefit concert. They were gathering money for famine in Africa and I think it would have been utterly tasteless to play Another One Bites the Dust in this context.
I agree so much with this comment, he is a power force on this video and so loveable so much so when I watch I find myself kind of attracted to him when he performs 🙂😆
This has to be your greatest reaction to date!! "Freddie stole the show" is the understatement of the year! LMAO. The rabbit hole that is Queen is deeper than you could ever imagine, including Hammer to Fall, and Crazy Little Thing Called Love. You need to react to "Keep Yourself Alive" "The Show Must Go On" and "Don't Try Suicide".
This is a compliment. Name is Patty. White 58 years , but not a nerd. I needed someone to lift my spirits and did it!!!!! Silly, goofy, cool, and not taking yourself too seriously. Freddie seemed a little this way too. I just want to thank you for making laugh. Wish I was 25 again. We would have been friends. Happy new year to you and your family
Brian May said in an interview that Freddie was able to play a lot of different instruments but the more and more that they toured he played less and less. He loved to play the audience over the instruments. Freddie wrote "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" from his bath tub.
This was broadcast live all over the world to raise money for famine relief in Africa. There was another concert in Philadelphia the same day. Phil Collins preformed in London, boarded a Concord flight (doesn’t exist anymore) and went to Philly and played there as well. The songs you didn’t know are Radio GaGa, Hammer to Fall, Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Their catalogue of great songs is huge. I hope you react to the official video for Save Me. One of my favorite songs.
Dude, watching you joining in with the songs, pausing slightly to get the lyrics right, then carrying on. Is Exactly what everyone else did first few times they heard it. It's great to see you enjoying it so much. Total Respect.
It wasn't long after this concert that we lost Freddie. In my heart I've always believed Freddie knew he wasn't long for this world so with a throat infection and all he came out and left everything he had on that stage giving us the greatest performance of all time!!! He used his last moments of life to give his fans a performance that will last for eternity. R.I.P Freddie we will always love you
This was 1985. Freddie died in 1991. In between, Queen did a huge, legendary concert tour, and Freddie and the band were recording new music and new videos to go with it.
At that time he was fine he had a bit of sore throat but unlike the film tells us, he wasn't infected. I can never understand how Brian and Roger let that be included in BR film. They knew that day what to do and weren't there to promote a new album but played the hits. It was nearly dead then them and Bowie came on, shame they didn't do Under Pressure together, would have been a great crossover.
@heathertuck im. Sorry, i didmt know know u knew. But Rami done an fantastic job as Freddie... He was definitely his twin that "everyone in the world someome has".
This is from a big Benefit concert called Live Aid, that Bob Geldof started, because of concern over starvation and illness in Ethiopia. It started in Britain where he got a bunch of stars together to perform a benefit single, called Do They Know It's Christmas. Then America did one, and Canada too. Then they did this concert - one in London England, and one in America. It was legendary. From a time where we could all get together and do something to help, and did.
All three songs are great and the videos are amazing. My favourite is the video showing how they worked up the songs is in the Canadian one when Neil Young is accused of singing off key: his response : That's my style man.
Had I ever had the chance to see Freddie Mercury perform, I suspect it's the closest I'd ever come to a religious experience. I'm not sure there's ever been a greater performer.
They started Bohemian Rhapsody because it is strategic for them since they were already considered “an old band” by that time so the best way for the young audience to know and vibe with them is by starting out with their most famous song - which is Bohemian Rhapsody 😅
Welcome to the Queen army, I love it, Freddie was just magical, and we love him and miss still. Freddie was all about the music, he once said if he could make some one happy for a moment then it was worth it. Little did he know how many he made happy and I saw it your reaction. Freddie would be so happy❤️️. RIP OUR DEAR SWEET FREDDIE
watching queen concerts is one of the greatest ways to discover their songs, because of the extra adrenaline the live brings to them. Like, my first queen experience was the montreal show and I just felt it so hard, that show version of "Keep yourself alive" was the first queen song that made me think: OK I'M HOOKED 😈😈😈
LIVE AID in 1985 was a seminal moment for those of us growing up in the 1980's where the Music world came together to help out the people suffering from Famine in Ethiopia & Africa. Considering the state of politics today back then they weren't "Muslims" or "Blacks" or "Africans" but just our fellow Human Beings who were dying of Hunger and the Music World stepped in to help solve a problem when Governments were too slow to react. This is what happens when Music has a conscious. As for this performance David Bowie who was the next Act was "rumored" to have said "How am I supposed follow that !!! ???

Nice comment
Yes we bloody well do ! ! ! FREDDIE MERCURY FOREVER 💖
I love when he sings we’re the champions and says “I thank you all” it’s like he’s personally saying it to the fans in that moment
He's still Thanking us ALL, AND HE LOVES US ALL 💕
I LOVE YOU ALL 💕💕!
Yesss
Because he IS thanking the fans 😞
He was💛
I felt like he personally thanked me lol. Legend.
I had no idea. Thanks for explaining the lights :)
They turned the speakers up past legal limit for this performance, Other bands never had the balls. True story.
Just introduced my 12 year old to Queen and to see her face light up watching live aid made my heart smile! So happy I got to show her the magic that is Freddie Mercury 🙏🏻❤️
Freddie had a bad throat infection that day, the doctor advised him not to go on. Freddie said it felt like glass was in his throat, but he managed to give the greatest short concert in history.❤️😊
a throat infection?? he had aids..
@@oscarmuckley8494 Sir if you would take the time to look it up, Freddie had a terrible throat infection, Freddie himself said it felt like he had broken glass in his throat. Freddie was not dx with AIDS until 1987, 2 years after Live Aid, although he most likely thought he may have HIV at that time, because he tested for it in 84.
@@deboraclark5791

The first tests came out in 85 but they were unreliable
After their 86 tour Freddie realised something serious was wrong, beyond normal fatigue and muscle aches

He still felt ill and started getting blemishes that turned out to be the start of sarcoma skin cancer which he was diagnosed for in April 87,also diagnosed at that time with Aids

No autotune or playback, true fact... the only person that "carried" Freddie's voice when he was sick was Roger Taylor, yes the drummer.
Dude I love how much you love Freddie and Queen! SOLID ASS REACTION BROTHER!!!!
“There are some guitar strings on that thing”
No, that’s just how I’m sync Brian May & Freddie were.
Everyone always heaps the praise on Freddie, which he deserves, but the whole band needs a shout for keeping up with and predicting him. Live proof that Queen, as a whole, were god tier.
I was thinking this too
I was looking for this comment, he and Brian were absolutely God tier. Either he or brian could do the guitar like twin souls, it pays to the illusion of music from the mic...
.. Which started from a mic stand accidentally being broken during a performance and became an icon, if my old rusty memory serves.
Spot on.
I’ve read that they rehearsed the bejeezus out of their set. They had it timed to the second.
I swear to God, Freddie gave us everything.
Barcelona is wild! Love, love it!!💕
This was and is still considered the best outdoor concert ever !
@@coreenalbertsen1764 “golden boy” same performance, fantastic!

perhaps THE greatest live performance in history.
Not perhaps, it is the greatest live performance in history. Hendrix comes in at #2.

I’m so jealous that my parents got to grow up with people like Freddie Mercury while I’m over here growing up with Cardi B.. 😐
You're absolutely right : music of every genre has devolved these days to the point where it really can't even be considered music anymore
Sadly I only got to spend a small part of my life with Freddie in it as I was 10 when he sadly passed but I'm thankful for it as I loved listening to Queen and still do.
Soooo sorry man. I was 13 in 1973 when Queen started, I got to see them through their entire career!!!
@@leighloutreedore8926 I'm jealous but glad at the same time
Yesssss!!!!! Thank god my mother loved Queen as I was growing up they became my favorite band 39 years later and I’m still obsessed
I fucking love how much you love Queen.
This was, quite possibly, the greatest live rock performance ever uh... performed.
My God watching you light up like a Christmas Tree watching this brings such a swell in my heart. I got a gift of Live Killers a live Queen album when I was twelve and have never been the same. I think watching you is how I must have looked the first time listening to that album. THANK YOU, for the recall of such a great memory.
Ok, I know this makes me sound old, but I enjoy watching these younger generations react to these older songs. Pretty cool stuff.
Same. Watching them fall in love with music I grew up on is magical.
Same here. I’m 70 years old and I’m loving watching these youngsters freak out over the music I grew up with. 😊☮️💜

I get chills everytime when the police guys say "HER MAJESTY... QUEEN!!"
Quite right

I bet Freddie loved that!
Epic... Closing with "We are the champion"...All the other bands and acts hearing this and knowing that at that moment queen was undoubtly the champion that day

The power of Queen lol
That’s how lady Gaga got her name was this song she loves it!

Queen didn't cover anyone.

Love your face expressions yes we black ppl love freddy too he was sexy talented that damn voice the whole band amazingly talented
For all you modern bands out there, this is how you play the crowd!
That crowd is bigger than the regular British army which comes in at 82,000. Their guitarist built the red guitar he played. And the drummer sang the high background vocals. They’re all amazing!!!!
I skipped school to stay home and watch this. We were pretty poor, and didn't have the means to buy the newest technology, The VHS. This was the only time my mother never said a thing about my cutting class. ( I .. *cough cough*..was .."sick", and thought I had put on good show) I didn't, and was grounded the minute Live Aid was over. Thank you Mr. Video, for your time and effort.
Loved your story
@@pammysplaylist2706 Ty. I kind of miss those days now. Bad hair and all.
Freddie's favorite instrument is the crowd just look at him 😂
Freddie’s favourite instrument was blowing someone else’s organ.
now you see why we wanted you to see this , you just witnessed the greatest live performance ever , david bowie called freddy a bastard when queen went off the stage because david had to follow that up , this was queen at full tilt there was 70 something thousand people at wembly at the same time there was 100 something thousand watching at a simultaneous concert at Philadelphia and several million more watching live around the world and on top of that they wernt even on the billing list till the last moment because the promoters thought that because queen hadnt released a song in a while at that time the promoters figured they wernt relevant enough for the crowd , so all those people are considered " not a typical queen audience " and they stole the show , thats how much of a big deal this was
When I think he had some throat problems that day, still nailed it. RIP darling
This is considered the greatest live performance of all time of any band in history. And I agree.
Yes, Freddy had music class when he was in concert. Check out Freddy doing opera with Montrrserat Caballer. Yes Freddy did opera. And the singer was blown away that a rock star understood and loved opera
He was classically trained, with a 5 octave range.😁
Queen wasn’t even supposed to do that show they added them last minute and they absolutely stole the show, ended up being the best performance of the entire concert!
16:25 is Hammer To Fall. According to its writer, Brian May, the song is about life and death. The "Hammer" is the Grim Reaper.
23:02 is Crazy Little Thing Called Love. It's Freddie's tribute to Elvis, who was one of Freddie's influences. Freddie wrote it in 10 minutes while he was taking a bath.
Watch Brian May - he plays 3 different guitars in Crazy Little Thing.
Mr. video: "I know the Queen songs!"
Queen: We're about to show this man our whole career.
I’m so glad he did this, and watch his subscribers go up when he starts doing Queen 🖖🏻🇨🇦😊
well said my friend, could not have said it myself - true legend in every sense
Beautifully spoken!
So so true.
Hell of a comment
"It's not fair, he's stealing the show." The rest of the band Queen was used to Freddie stealing the show. It was the other acts preforming at this concert that got extra spicy about it. :)
He had such a presence on stage. He held the audience in the palm of his hand. Such a legend.
Freddie, Roger, Brian and John were a bunch this time!!! Every song was written by one of them and all their originals!!! That was QUEEN!!!
Another awesome reaction, Leo; there will never be another Freddie😥You’re so much fun to watch and always make me laugh, thank you for that. 🥰👍🏻
The only rock gods who literally has a member who can launch them all to the stars, Brian may, rock legend and astrophysicist
And designed and built his guitar
This is a compliment. Name is Patty. White 58 years , but not a nerd. I needed someone to lift my spirits and did it!!!!! Silly, goofy, cool, and not taking yourself too seriously. Freddie seemed a little this way too. I just want to thank you for making laugh. Wish I was 25 again. We would have been friends. Happy new year to you and your family
Freddie’s finest moment, stole the show.
His stage presence will forever be unmatched...seen this so many times and it never gets old
It simply makes me smile seeing you being a fan and be into it. Lovely 🇧🇪🤗✌️♥️
Don't be too hard on yourself... there is TWENTY YEARS of music from this band, LOL... Glad you got to hear this epic performance! Thanks
There was crowds like this all around the world, man that was an amazing weekend.
Dude, watching you joining in with the songs, pausing slightly to get the lyrics right, then carrying on.

It's great to see you enjoying it so much.

Easy hulk hogan
At that time he was fine he had a bit of sore throat but unlike the film tells us, he wasn't infected. I can never understand how Brian and Roger let that be included in BR film. They knew that day what to do and weren't there to promote a new album but played the hits. It was nearly dead then them and Bowie came on, shame they didn't do Under Pressure together, would have been a great crossover.
If I ever got my hands on the DeLorean this might be one of my first stops.

It was a 24 hour non stop concert from what i remember. Phil Collins did every show. Flew from one to the other
All three songs are great and the videos are amazing. My favourite is the video showing how they worked up the songs is in the Canadian one when Neil Young is accused of singing off key: his response : That's my style man.
So glad you did this - true legend - this moment still gives me a rush watching it. Unbelievable!!!!
If he doesn’t know Radio gaga , he isn’t going to know Hammer to Fall unless he has seen Highlander, RIP Sean Connery
watching queen concerts is one of the greatest ways to discover their songs, because of the extra adrenaline the live brings to them.
I love the story that David Bowie was waiting to come on stage, and said "How the f*@% do we follow that ..??"
