I was a young lad of 9 when we used to dash home from school and down to green park to see what had brought the southbound Pines down from Manchester These films are a magnificent reminder of my memory of the S&D My Grandfather lived on the lower Bristol road at the bottom of ‘The Bank’ 1/50 Bath junction was Happy times seeing the 9 fs Clattering up and down to and from Bournemouth Thank you so much Alan Clifford

When I worked for the GPO as a Telegram delivery Messenger in 1967-70.. I remember the 3 wheeled Scammels at the end of the road under the guise of “National Carriers”. For overtime at weekends I used to go to Watford Junction Station with other postman and load Mail trains with sacks of mail and parcels, the sacks were tied using the string and leads. Great memories and great days I miss very much…

what a fantastic video you must be very proud of this, it's brilliant my wife's Dad best friend and 2 uncles all worked there Dad was in the stores, she remembers taking her dads sandwiches to him and one of the station porters taking her over the lines as a 5/6 year old girl, when I was in Corsham Camp he told me about what was under the the Camp and about Box Tunnel I was a soldier sent from Germany to the school there for education I do know a bit about the camp because when we had dinner I saw my RAOC Corps Crest had been painted over about 50ty times if you can find a little girl to include on your layout it would be just grate :) what a shame to close a great station. I'm from Durham City LNER man like my Christine railway is in my blood ( hope you did not mind my little story )

Awesome layout and Locomotives.

A great strength of this video is the way the depth of field is maintained, the lighting is even, and there’s no continual shifting a focus as it often is in model railroad videos. You should perhaps consider a video on your techniques for shooting since these are really a major factor in why these videos are so beautifully presented.

Closing this classic line wasnt BRs finest moment what a usefull diversionary route it would have made was lucky to ride ''The Pines' a few times behind 9Fs and MN

Awesome layout and photos thanks for posting. Its a very accurate recreation of the 1950s I can almost smell some of those engines. The track and weathering is superb.

Red lights lit on the Peak whilst hauling a train? Wasn't that a fireable offence? The only tail lights allowed were on the last vehicle of a train. Other than that, a gorgeous model.

Mr Morris the shed master was very kind to me and my friends as teenagers in the early sixties when we wandered down there after school, the City of Bath Technical School in Brougham Hayes.

Wow...! All I can say is, 'Bravo Sir'! What a layout! The S&D closed 3 years before I was born, so I never got to see it. I have family in the Radstock and Midsomer Norton areas and remember playing on the trackbed in my childhood. I have just started in O Gauge but could only hope to model something as amazing as this! Great work, thanks for sharing.

Never tire of watching this awesome model railway. I returned to Bath in 1960 so was lucky to see the last 6 years of the real thing.

I like the models, but why does everybody seem so keen on unconvincing sound generators? My favourite bits are those without them.

Fantastic. Experienced the real thing as a child on the Pines Express during Summer 1958.

Amazing

Elegantly filmed and a fine representation of Green Park, the yard and sheds. A lot of hard work has gone into this project on my favourite railway which I travelled on (on the Pines) as a child. Loved the Gresley coaches often seen on the line. I did not know that any of the Manchester trains terminated at Victoria.

I'd like to see some shuntings at the station, and goods sidings

I was lucky enough to have travelled on the down Pines, Tues, 21/8/62, age 16, 92220 + pilot 73049 to Ev Jnc. Gave a quick thanks to driver and fireman at BM West but never been able to establish since if it was messrs Beale/Smith. Returned to M/cr Thurs, 30/8/62 on up Pines, 73047 + pilot 73054 from Ev Jnc. Where may I view this excellent layout. Still struggling to achieve a layout of 75% size 82F in 4mm !!

I am extremely impressed by the quality of this video from the large amount of detail in the modelling to the information provided in the captions. The filming was also fantastic! I am sure Ivo Peters would have been most impressed and particularly by the videographer's use of a tripod. Bravo!

I have to ask, do you have a representation of Ivo Peters and his MG somewhere on the layout? His name is synonymous with the S&DJR! Regardless, this is a superb layout worthy of all the praise others have heaped on it. Well done!!!

As a Modeller myself i look at these videos and it just seems quite Surreal. How you can achieve such Incredible detail and Accuracy. Covering a vast scale is Truly Incredible. I have never seen anything like as good ever. The massive downside is it must be impossible to move and so the incredulous people like myself can never see it on display. For me, your achievements in Model Engineering are Truly World Beating quite incredible. Please take the most Massive Bow and continue to make us all salivate and turn green in envy! Congratulations!

Superb modeling! Do you have a video showing the details of shunting operations in the station? Train comes in, engine goes back to depot, carriages are stowed sway, etc.

Memories come flooding back of living in Twereton, and not far from Twereton Tunnel.
