  • The railway is based in the 1950's and 60's up to closure. The track layout is as close as can be in a model and includes Green Park station, both S&D and Midland sheds, Midland Bridge and S&D yards, Bath Junction, Devonshire Bank and tunnel, Lyncombe Vale, Combe Down tunnel, Midford station and viaduct, Writhlington Colliery and exchange sidings and is run with correct stock and to timetable for the period

Great to have another episode from your high quality, detailed layout. So true to the past that the 'hand of God' @ 1:51 came as a shock. But seriously, your detail and story telling cannot be beaten. I was waiting for Ivo Peters to appear on your footplate ride. Peter

Really enjoyed this video - thank you. Purposeful movements rather than just an endless succession of trains. Love the synchronised sounds but not so sure about non-sync ones.

Really enjoy all your videos, and like how you have recreated the running sequence properly, something I eventually hope to do properly on my layout.

Thanks. I would encourage anyone to look at proper sequence/timetable running. It adds real purpose behind running the trains and gives a better insight as tohow the railways were run.

As always marvelous to watch, thanks for sharing. A great array of engines the only ones that didn't make an appearance were the BB's and WC's. Maybe next time.

You must have blinked at the wrong moment! At 17.40 WC 34041 WILTON heads north past Writhlington Colliery. Glad that you are enjoying the videos

Hi, thank you for another great video. Two questions though, did I see a new crossover and trackwork at the colliery when the Jinty was running round it's wagons? Also when the cabride left Bath, did I see the back of a LNER Pacific Tender, if so, has it been impounded by the authorities for breaking the weight restrictions you mentioned previously? I just really enjoy seeing your layout, it's always a great pleasurable watch. Best regards Dave.

      Hi
At Writhlington Colliery I have moved the south crossover to gain more length between crossovers for the trip workings out from Radstock to the colliery. Yet to finish the ballast.
Yes I have to admit that you did see the tender of A3 60107 Royal Lancer. I grew up in York and so I am a closet LNER man and have tucked away normally out of view an A4, A3 and A1.

Thanks for another relaxing and enjoyable post of my favourite model railway. Did diesels ever get on any regular workings on the S&D, I can't say I've ever seen any on film.?

Glad that you are enjoying the videos.
The only diesels sighted were some DMU specials but only 2 or 3 known otherwise no main line diesels until after closure.
There is one interesting rumour of a Peak diesel that came in on the Pines being used to bank a freight out of Bath up to Combe Down tunnel. Don't know whether this is true or not!
