      Exactly. Someone once told me the less you have to handle the wood the better. Eventually I want to build some cages and get some forks for the tractor then I can stack them directly in the cages and move them around to wherever I need them. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Great idea there. Do you burn that pine in your fireplace/stove?

    • @mylifedeliberately
      @mylifedeliberately День тому

      Yes, I do. Most everybody in the west burns pine. We don't have as much access to the hardwoods found in the east. The wood you see in the video is birch, cottonwood, and western larch/tamarack. The tamarack is not really a pine but a deciduous tree that loses its needles in the fall and grows new ones in the spring. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Congratulations! I am sure you will enjoy sawing logs into lumber. Actually really rewarding. There is a bit of a wait on the PowerLift and PowerFeed. It looks like the PowerFeed MIGHT be shipping in a month or so and I know that there is a backlog that needs to be shipped out first. But that will give you time to set up your new mill and get familiar with it. Thanks for watching and let us know how your milling goes.

I just got done milling 3500 linear board feet for my mini cabin build in the fall with the mill I just sold. You can scroll through and see the leentoo and bed I milled up with my previous mill I think you may get a kick out of them. It takes time for sure but it’s some rewarding when you see what you can accomplish.

    Smooth update. When milling your own dimensional lumber is there any advantage to sticking to today's common dimensions, other than yield, or would it be nice to go back to full 2"x4" dimensions for example ?

    • @mylifedeliberately
      @mylifedeliberately 3 дні тому

      My thinking is that if you plan to use only your lumber than you can use any size you want. If you think you may have to run to the big box store to get more lumber to finish a project than it is best to mill to common dimensions otherwise you could run into issues. Thanks for watching.

    I use an old style bumper jack modified with a shallow hook welded onto it. I made mine from a broken jaw of a crescent wrench and sharped the tip. Have a wedge piece of wood to hold the log in place as it usually takes two goes to turn a big one.

      @@claytonnicholson4639 Yes, his works really well. If the shed roof was about 2' higher it would give it a little more room when he lifts. A brace on the top would take some of the flex out of the top arm. Also, mounting the winch on the pole and running the cable through some pulleys would make for a neater setup.
