  • Making 2x6's on my Woodland Mills HM130 Max outfitted with the EpicSaw PowerLift. Showing how easy it is to make accurate and repeatable cuts with the EpicSaw PowerLift. And unfortunately, things don't always go to plan.

Nice video....looks like milling a log can be better than a gym membership :)

Nice video. I may be a simple man, but I enjoy watching a log become lumber instead of firewood. Epic Saw needs to produce a power log/cant turner!

I agree, a log turner would be great. Maybe if enough people agreed and showed interest in a log turner EpicSaw might be motivated to oblige.

I may have mentioned this before. “Southern Air sawmill “ has an excellent diy log turner. Would have to add 4 feet of track to the end , but just strong enough to carry the weight of the turner ( angle iron )

Nice job. When you are turning the log it looks like the log is trying to climb up on the log stops before it turns. If you put a piece of pipe (even PVC pipe will work) over the log stop that sticks up higher than the log can reach it will make it easier to turn the log.
Do you have plans for your saw mill shed? Is the lumber you are cutting now for the shed or another project.
    Thanks for bringing us along.

Hey Mike. Thanks for the tip. I have seen that done and need to start doing it myself. Thanks for the reminder. I have not created plans for the sawmill shed yet. Just have everything in my head for now but the 2x6's will be for the floor of the sawmill shed. Thanks for watching and your comments.

To me that's living the dream. Good cutting. From Missouri. Are you going to build something or sell it?

Hi. Thanks for watching. I am going to use the 2x6's for a sawmill shed this summer.

Good video. A few questions for you. I noticed you set the first cut at 5.625 which I thought was to allow for the kerf, but then the other cuts were at 1.5 rather than 1.625 was there a reason for that? I was also wondering why you don't remove the 2x6s after each cut. It seems like removing the extra weight would make things easier for the blade, and you wouldn't have to raise the saw head each time. Lastly you didn't have your adjustable blade guide completely extended. I always put mine as close to the cant as possible. Just trying to improve my knowledge and skills for running my mill. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for watching. The cant was a 1/4 inch to large so rather than cut off a 1/4 inch I just split the difference making the 2x6 1.5x5.625. I have seen videos explaining why the weight does not affect the cut. Having the extra boards on top is not really much different than cutting the 5.625 cant. As far as the adjustable blade guide that was just me not paying attention.

Just wondering, with that new head Power lift, can you get it to figure your cant automatically? If you know you are cutting 2x6 lumber, does it figure out what that second side needs to be including kerf for a set number of boards? I guess the same would be true for the 4th side of the cant.

Thanks for watching. The PowerLift does not currently have that functionality. That is an interesting thought though.
