Turning logs with the help of subscribers

  • After having difficulty turning a big log on the mill subscribers reach out with a few suggestions and a subscriber with his own UA-cam channel, 6.8liter, makes a hook for me to try out on a log. Join me as I put the hook and the suggestions to the test.

    In the long run, the winch with a hooh is ideal, as it sure beats getting on and off of the tractor, but for now that hook sure seems to work nice!!

    I am right on the same track ... haven't built but milling for the build of the shed. Bumped my mill bed as well trying to roll a 20" log on my 122 mill. (will correct tomorrow!) ..., used the strap method and it did well but the hook might be handy as you said. Will continue to follow your progress and thank you for sharing experience.

    There is also a fellow Sawyer that has a harbor freight winch mounted on a pair of eight wheel trolley's that run in a super strut that is mounted to the roof joist, centered on the log bunks, he's happy with it.

    Both methods look better than hefting it by hand but the hook does look like it'll be better in the long term. Thanks for the demo
