Sawing Mystery Wood on the Mill

- I searched UA-cam for a video of someone cutting this species of wood. Couldn't find one. Don't know if this wood will be any good for woodworking but I cut it open with my Woodland Mills HM130 Max outfitted with the EpicSaw PowerLift.

Enjoyed the video. With all the gnarly bits on the outside I expected to see some burl figure towards the edges. I hope you find a use for it since you've held onto it :)
Thanks for watching. I have a few ideas. Maybe a Charcutier board.
Keep up the great work, I enjoy your videos. I was going to say pineapple tree (which I don't think exist,) I found it a bit amusing that it actually came from the 'fruit cocktail' family!
Thanks for watching, glad you like the videos.
Interesting wood. I don't think you will need to sticker those pieces! It looks like your laser is pointing downhill. Have you tried using laser glasses to make the line more visible?
Thanks for bringing us along
No stickering necessary. They were pretty dry which I think made it pretty hard to cut.
That's called spalted maple😊
Orange? LOL I still remember the 4" thorns that thing had on it! Its amazing how long you've had that log!
It has been a while. Glad I waited to cut it open though because the spalting was worth it.
firewood
Looks like spalted ambrosia maple
I have turned a lot of orange, lemon and fruit trees. They are mostly fine grained and relatively hard. These woods were readily available when I lived in Southern CA.
Orange ?
Ding ding ding. Had a few out back in FL years ago. Thorny. Cool video !
@@terryatpi You said it, that thing had 4" long thorns!
