  • Welcome back everyone. In this video I run a speed test of the EpicSaw PowerLift. I also share some tips on what I did to help improve the performance of the EpicSaw PowerLift on my Woodland Mills HM130 Max.

Thank you so much for making this! I think this would really help EpicSaw's customer base. You're the first customer to put out any content like this. I'm awaiting my power lift and feed system. I'm still not stoked on the speed but hope to be productive moving boards and other tasks while the saw head is cutting and lifting. The ability to make repeatable cuts without a tape measure should hopefully make up for the speed issue.

Thanks for watching. Agreed, the repeatability of the cuts is the big deal. I do know EpicSaw is working on the issue as they too would like to see an increase in speed.

I am about to order an HM-130 Max and was planning on ordering the power head for it. After finding your video I really like this item and it’s only about $250 more than the Woodland Mills power head but adds some great features and accuracy. I’m now even contemplating getting the power lift/feed unit though it is a bit more pricey.

Thanks for watching. I would strongly encourage you to reach out to Tony at EpicSaw. He is currently finishing up version 3 of the PowerLift which adds a lot of new functionality making the lift an even better deal. I hope to do a video of the new features soon. You'll find Tony easy to talk with and he can give you a run down of the new features of version 3.

That might seem like a long time, but if you were doing the lift and lower manually it might seem faster only because you were busy the whole time.
Looking forward to seeing the power feed.
You do a very good job with the presentation.

Thanks for the compliment and thanks for watching. I too am looking forward to the power feed. I think that will be a big step forward.

I will be at my 126 mill on Saturday, I will time my normal cranking speed to compare. Thanks for the demonstration.

I didn"t realize how slow this is before watching this video. This makes me question the perchase. It definitively safe the arm but you can make a cofe while it's trying to lift or go down.

Thanks for watching. Speed is something that EpicSaw is looking to improve. However, I do think that someone raising and lowering the lift by hand and accurately dialing in the correct measurement would take longer. I think where the PowerLift shines is that it makes it effortless to consistently achieve an accurate measurement.

I have the woodland mills power head, as for lift up and down it seems a little faster than this one. I will check with my phone timer and let you know the speed, I like the features on the EpicSaw PowerLift with the "Bump" feature. I have installed a DRO (digital read out) on my HM130 Max but I have to manually watch the readout and stop at the right position...likes yours better.

Thanks for watching. I have not used the woodland mills power head but I figured it would probably be faster. Let me know the time. What drew me to the EpicSaw PowerLift was the accuracy and repeatability of cuts.

6.5 Seconds per inch isn''t bad. In bump mode that's 13 seconds for 2 inches. It would be very difficult to manually crank it that fast accurately.

Thanks for watching. It's not too bad. Sure saves the arm though.

is that the max speed it can run? slow yes but still going to get one.
Where in the PNW are you?

The speed can vary slightly from mill to mill. For me that is the max speed so far. EpicSaw is looking at different options to get more speed. I am in Northern Idaho.

I’ve been wondering if it would be a bit faster with the engine running. Alternator produces more voltage and amperage than the battery alone ? Just a thought. Thanks!

Possibly! I will run a quick test and let you know.

Ran another test with the engine running at idle. No difference. Good thought though.

Hi thanks for watching the video. That is a question I do not know. I could see that the bigger saw head could be an issue but really do not know. I would recommend you go to the EpicSaw website, store.epicsaw.com/index.php?route=information/contact and reach out to Tony. You will find that he will likely respond to your inquiry within minutes.

Its super slow i don't think I would like that .i had 126 and i sold it for very much same reason. I think the saw is only good because its better than nothing.

It is true that Woodland Mills sawmills are entry level mills, but for someone who is not going to be running a milling business and just wants to process the trees on their property I think they are a good compromise between functionality and cost. I also think that adding EpicSaws PowerLift and PowerFeed are good improvements to the mill. Just my opinion.

Far too slow to be worth the cost for me. I’ve seen this unit in other videos and it’s faster than what you show here.
